While many players skip this power in favor of others, I urge you to pick it when you have nothing else important to take. Buy a Karma: Knockback Protection and slap it into this power as soon as you can. It's also great for those missions you know you can finish but don't want to waste time fighting to the end of that god-awfully long Circle of Thorns map. Also useful when hiding from an AV to rest or recharge powers.
    Rating: ****

UPDATE: Because I'm so incredibly dense, I forgot to mention that Shadow Cloak provides a really hefty Immobilize protection. So, contrary to what I said, with the Karma IO, it DOES close the gap in your defenses!

Slotting: Karma: Knckbk Prot., 1 EndRdx
Actually, you can slot Karma: Knockback Protection into ANY of your defensive powers. This includes Combat Jumping or Hover depending on your travel power choice. Personally, I choose Combat Jumping (I got at level 12 instead of Boxing) since that also gives you Immobilize Protection which you need prior to Cloak of Darkness.

The numbers beside the slotts are the level at which you got that slot. Example: the first two slots in are an (A) and a (3). The (A) means Auto - when you picked this power, it comes with one slots. The (3) means that at level 3 you picked an additional slot for this power.

    I hope this helps.
  3. Here's a question that wasn't directly answered in the FAQs about Freedom.

I know that when Freedom goes live, they will stop selling the booster packs and you can purchase the costumes for an individual character.

However, I have purchased most of the booster packs. If I create a NEW character after Freedom, I should have access to those booster packs I have already purchased. If I have to re-purchase what I have already paid for, I'm going to be upset.
  4. Thanks Zombie Man for this great post I have this book-marked so I can come back to it and get the locations of contacts so I can find them even though my contact won't send me to them. There are a few little things that would like to mention as I don't seem to recall seeing them in your post.

    1) Undercover work - you can work as Undercover for the Loyalist OR the Resistance. The way this works is that when you choose which side to work for (Loyalist or Resistance) when you exit the Tutorial or when you choose to skip the Tutorial. Example - if you were to choose Resistance when you exit the tutorial, you could do under-cover work for the Resistance when doing Loyalist story-arcs. If you want to be a Loyalist under-cover against the Resistance, you would need to choose Loyalist when exiting the Tutorial. Even if you switch sides later, you still can only work under-cover for whichever side you selected the first time.

    2) Hidden Storyline for Under-cover Resistance:
IF you are under-cover Resistance doing the Loyalist Responsibility arc in Nova Praetoria, when you get to Moral Choice from Cleopatra (she sends you into a trap, you survive, and Interrogator Washington contacts you).
After you get the information from Interrogator Washington that she is an under-cover member of the Resistance - BEFORE you enter the mission to confront Cleopatra - you can call Calvin Scott even though there is no message to do this. He will basically tell you to kill Cleopatra since she blew her cover and saving her would blow your cover.
If you choose Resistance anyways (saving Cleopatra by killing Interrogator Washington), you can choose to tell her that Calvin Scott told you to kill her. Her response to this piece of information is interesting, to say the least!

    3) You be sent to see contacts that have been removed. I wanted a character to complete ALL the arcs as under-cover Resistance. Here's what I did:
    A) I choose Resistance after completing the Tutorial.
    B) After Completing Praetor White, I went straight on to Interrogator Washington, completed this arc and choose to stay Resistance (saving Cleopatra). This removed Interrogator Washington.
    C) Then I completed the Resistance Warden arc and choose Resistance, then I completed the Resistance Crusader arc and choose Loyalist (so I could do the Loyalist Power arc in Nova Praetoria).
    D) After becoming a Loyalist, I gained Provost Marchand as a contact and he gave me the option of going to see Interrogator Washington or the Deputy Assistant of Information.
    E) I wanted to see what would happen if I went to see Interrogator Washington - so I choose him. I got sent to his location, but he wasn't there to allow me to complete the mission.
It took a while to convince the GM that Interrogator Washington wasn't there for me even though he could see him.

I hope this little bit helps.

As others have posted, the only thing you can do it petition it as STUCK and wait for a GM.

I am now able to spot these doors on top of doors (on my computer, they blink as you move since one door is darker than the other). If you are successfully able to open the blue door, that is when they are able to walk through the walls. I think they are wandering enemies stuck since they can't use the closed blue door either.
  6. This has happened to me 5 times since I20 went live. Most of them are in the Labs (red door on top of blue door). You can usually open the blue door but the red door still blocks you. Also, there was one mission where a "stairs" door was behind a piece of equipment so you couldn't see it or get to it. I found it by having a GM teleport me past it, and using the stairs down after completing the mission.

It seems that their QA has dropped the ball on this one.
  7. I am getting the same error

    Cat Claws

I wish Cat Claws for feet were available for Flat Feet (Tights) instead of just Monstrous Legs. I don't know why, I just don't like the look of the Monstrous legs. It looks like they have 2 knees.

    Help with CLAWS

After purchasing the new Animal Pack, I thought I would try a Claws/Regen Scrapper. OMG - what a pain! True, endurance isn't a problem BUT your heals are clicks, you don't have status protection around level 10 when you really start needing it, and you have nothing that makes you harder to hit or reduces incoming damage. I actually find myself stocking up on Green Inspirations just so I can survive.

Anyone have suggestions for another animal-type character with Claws that is better? I can't see an animal with Fire or Electric, maybe SR/WP/Invuln etc.

And which would be better synergy: Brute, Scrapper, or Tank?

    No Vanguard Pack

My account should have gotten the Vanguard Pack, since it didn't go inactive between Feb 1st and April 18 and was set to auto-renew. I did purchase the Animal Pack during that time, but that shouldn't have affected it.

I know about the announcement. However, I have already downloaded the patch and installed it. Now, I'm doing a Verify All Files since there is no announcement of a patch.

    EDIT - All files verified.

So I guess there is a patch....

    Server Downtime

ALL servers are still down, although they were supposed to be up 40+ minutes ago. I did start up the game about 30 minutes ago, and it started a BIG (100+ Meg) download, and is now patching the game. I hope this fixes the crashes!
  14. I finally got it, I got to the shield in NE Nova Praetoria (where the shield runs NW to SE, but didn't get the badge), so I used an awaken. I found myself in a spot where I wasn't getting hit, so I rested to regain my health/endurance. Turned on Ninja Run, went NW along the shield (got hit intermittantly, and to turn Ninja Run back on) and got the badge. Only about 8 hospital trips to get the badge. :-(

I've tried this, I get close to the edge of the map, and those guns de-toggle me start doing damage, I go to the hospital before I get to the edge.

Do you team mostly or solo? Gale is your friend. Blow your foes off their feet in the direction you want the robots to kb them into a wall. You want this practice for when you can drop freezing rain on them so that foes melt in a corner or against a wall or obstruction. Especially solo, the solution isn't NO gale, it's MORE gale. Robots don't mind the knockback in gale nearly as much as human teammates do.

Life as a Bots/storm really picks up intensity at 12, with your first protector bot and DOs, 16 with your freezing rain, 18 you get the third first tier bot and maybe Repair is available. (But I might delay that, too, since you want stamina and hurricane by level 22.) 20 is stamina, 22 is hurricane, 24 you get your second protector bot, 26 your assault bot... it just keeps getting better. 32 is a crowning achievment when uber AoE control meets Uber AoE robot damage.
Any suggested improvements on my build besides delay Tactics and get Freezing Rain?
  18. I've played Bots/Dark and really enjoyed it. Now, with GR, I thought I'd try a Bots/Storm Praetorian/Hero. I'm currently level 11 in Praetoria and not really enjoying it. With /Dark I was in the middle, keeping my pets healed. Now, I'm letting my pets run in while I stay back and try to keep them healed. The /Dark heal is PBAoE (you have to hit a target) while the one from /Storm is single target (and you can't target yourself so you have to keep inspirations to heal yourself). Although waiting till level 2 for the heal from /storm isn't a big deal, the level 1 power really sucks and has been gathering dust since I got the heal.

    Here's my current build:

    Level 1: Power Slide -- EndRdx(A)
    Level 2: Rest -- RechRdx(A)
    Level 1: Supremacy
    Level 4: Ninja Run

Due to endurance problems at level 11 (maybe they'll get better at 12 with DOs), I'm thinking of skipping Tactics and getting Freezing Rain. Any ideas?
  19. And I've been asking since before GR was released. True, I log in, do a couple of missions and ask inbetween them, but still, why would anyone turn down free Prestige for their VG?

Actually, it's probably 14 levels (since you continue to level while running Tips).

Anyways, it's free Prestige to your VG and it costs me nothing.
  21. I've started a new MM in Rogue Isles and I've been trying to join a VG. I want to use the teleporters, and I'm willing to earn Prestige until I become I hero at 20+. I'm now level 8 after many days requesting to join a VG....
  22. Strange, I entered it 4 times, and it said it was invalid code. On the 5th time, it said it was already used.
  23. Are the new codes posted here or do they start a new thread for each code?
  24. I got a lot of Veteran Rewards. I started playing CoH shortly after release (long before VR), and had quit several times before VR was announced. Now, it seems that I've gotten credit for all that time I deactivated my account before VR.

Needless to say, I'm happy with the result since I had no way of knowing at those times that the VR system would be implemented.
  25. I am also having this problem with a wired Microsoft mouse. I even went and installed the intellipoint software from Microsoft with the same results (not scrolling) in 64 bit Windows 7 Ulitmate. The exact same hardware (including mouse) using 64 bit Windows XP works fine. I upgraded from 64 bit XP since there seems to be no anti-virus software that is designed for it. Everything else properly recognizes the mouse scroll.

I'm guessing that the problem is with CoH and Vista/Windows 7. Microsoft must have changed how the mouse wheel data is transfered with Vista/Windows 7 and CoH is not reading it properly. Even WoW is reading the wheel in Windows 7.

Since all my other software is reading the scroll properly, I think that they need to get off their butts and stop blaming Microsoft. Yes, Microsoft is partially to blame for the change in the Operating System, but that happens. CoH needs to be updated to fix the problem.
