  1. Hmmm...

When IO's launched I quickly grabbed a stealth IO and put it in fly, thinking I'd just replace the pool power with it.

I was quickly turned off from the IO when I realized I'd be stealthed even after turning fly off... So I dumped it without looking back.

    Might have to reconsider now.

Was this in the patch notes and I missed it?
  2. I love fighting Carnies. Just something about the twisted circus aspect always intrigued me.

Reading this thread got me to thinking though.

Where are the KOA in this game?

I've been around since Issue 4 and I think I've seen a grand total of 3...

Are they only in specific missions at 40+?
I haven't teamed much past that point, as my Heroes were always more soloable by then. Maybe I just missed the arcs or something.

Malta as well are sorely under represented. The 1st place I saw them was in the alleys of PI.
To this day it's the only place I've seen them.

Price I pay to be a soloer I suppose.

    Oh yeah.
  4. I must say though. I'm simply shocked at how bug free this launch has been! I was worried that the smallish beta would mean we'd be 'testing' for a month or so after launch. Glad this isn't the case. Heck, I think Issue 17 had more problems!

    Way to go!

    Enchant Pet?

Doh! Not sure why I typed Pb. It's not like irradiate, I always try to target one of my guys in the middle of the group but the radius seems large enough not to matter.

    Enchant Pet?

It's a PbAOE. Summon your pets, as many as you have. Then click it.
It'll place the enchantment on all of them until they die.

You'll have to enchant them each time you summon but at least now it's not single target!
  7. I expect controllers to have some controls.
I expect tanks to have some defense.
I expect scrappers to get in over their heads.
I expect Defenders to have buffs/debuffs.
I expect Blasters to have lots of damage.

I don't ever expect an individual player to have a specific power though.
That's like saying anyone with Super Strength has to have laser beam eyes just because Superman does. Build the character the way you envision them, let the whiners whine/kick.

    I have a Kin/Rad Defender...
That doesn't have Speed Boost. :P

If we didn't have such ease of use awakens then I might expect defenders to have a rez, but even that would be a stretch.
  8. "Wait, you mean this thing grafted onto my back, by way of my spinal cord, this giant metallic box of gears and circuits. Has a lousy spider sticker on it?"

    "Really?"

"I mean.... They're giant spider legs for petes sake..."

**Tries to see it, stretching and twisting, moving the arms out of the way.**

"No wonder everyone laughs when I go in the D now..."
  9. New patch.

Seers have been toned down a bit, but no change to Destroyers yet.

Here I was thinking the blinding whiteout in tech maps was just my PC on performance setting. Can't wait to see if this changed them for me!

    Funny Concepts

I saw a purple coated pimp MM just last night in Imperial City. His demons had some.... interesting names. Should've took a screenie, not that it would help while I'm at work..

Some of my weirder concepts include

Clownster - War Mace/Invul Brute. Just your typical deranged clown. He found a cursed mace that now talks to him and makes him cause others pain. He's got a few binds and what not so he can have entire conversations with his mace during missions, begging it not to make him and he always delivers a really lame one liner before finishing off a boss.

The Woodsmen - Claws/Regen scrap. A living tree.
This 15 year old kid is walking in Perez one moment and materializing out of a tree 15 years later the next. His backstory has him being a super-soldier creation of DE. With vines as tough as steel for claws. Yes his name is plural on purpose. He's actually the combination of several attempts.
  12. I just wanna know why all the resistance sound like they came straight out of Idiocracy.

It does add a disturbing twist on the events in Praetoria, if these guys are all grizzled war vets fighting the power why on Earth do they sound like they should be mumbling "Brawndo has what plants crave" repeatedly?

    Very scray.
  13. I'll just add.

Ice patch is great, and lets you get more use out of Rain of Fire. pre level 20.

    That said...

Shiver is the defining power that will keep you alive! Once I added that to my build bosses became a joke.

Oh, and since your Fire/ might wanna avoid Frozen Aura? Frozen Shards?...Frozen touch...
Whatever the tier 9 is, it's junk when your Fire/. It's an AOE sleep, and since you'll be packing quite a few damage AOE's...

Otherwise enjoy! I'm a blaster at heart, always have been and this is by far my favorite combo.
  14. It must be the vet in me but my Energy/Energy Blaster hasn't had any issues yet. I've even wanted to crank it up for solo bosses.

    I never team.

Granted, I learned years ago how to utilize KB to be a very effective mitigation tool. I also use my vetspec at 20 to get stamina, thus allowing me to play up to that point without sacrificing useful powers for the pre-reqs.
I'm sure having build up from level 4 has helped as well! Not to mention sands and staff and wand...

So far the only time I've had trouble was underground with the Ghouls, these things are like Snyder zombies, bum rushing from all directions. I love it.

That said, looking past my experience level, I think new players may feel somewhat outgunned. Even more so for that new player that doesn't know any better and tries to solo a FF defender or other support based toon. Though, I've only seen 1 actual new player this week...
  15. I had to create my 1st NPC chat tab the other night after doing a few missions for Warrant...

I was trying to be as immersed in the story as I could, even dug out my old headset to get the feet shuffles and softer sounds. Between either killing the boss to quickly and getting everything after they'd been defeated, dragging out the fight on purpose just to read everything or chatter not starting until I was close enough to be attacked. Yeah, it got to be a blur of boxes I couldn't stop fighting long enough to read.

So I created a NPC chat tab, with only NPC dialogue in it. Just so I could scroll up and read what had been said...

Wish this could be a little more fluid in delivery but it is what it is.

  17. On a related note, I'm curious to see how they hold up this weekend. Since I've never seen them this full during workdays.
  18. It seems to vary between Infinity and Justice.

    NPC Costumes

I'd prefer the Phalanx and such to keep their items unique. Since they are single individuals within the lore. The various groups with numerous clones on the other hand...

If this is true I'm all and !

    NPC Costumes

For years now it's been the stance of the Dev's not to let us have access to the unique NPC costume items. Stuff like the Freakshow and Carnival, Malta and other NPC only items. I'm now curious if this policy is slowly changing.

What makes me ask is the inclusion of the complete new Clockwork set. I was kinda shocked to see the entire set was not only useable but was included it the costume set drop-down! This is great for anyone who likes to make robots or wants to RP as a Praetorian Clock.

    So...

Does that mean I can look forward to finally being able to make that FreakTank that's been reformed? Or have the Stunners back poles as an option for my Electric Controller?

Will the next wave of proliferation be costumes instead of powers?
  21. This thread

    and

    This one too

I was hoping it would be a stealth like power on a long cooldown...
  22. I wasn't going to be getting it for a few months until I heard about the sale at Best buy.

I picked up the collectors edition for $29.99, rang up to $32 after taxes and when you subtract $15 thanks to the free month included means I got GR for only $17!!

    $17.00!

So if your really really wanting to play, I'd say your best bet is to drop your sub for a single month. You'll be protecting Praetoria before you know it!
  23. I personally am not a fan of the yellow background and the grey windows.
Funny thing is, I'd never noticed the power trays and various other windows were tinted depending on alignment. However, the grey trays in GR are messing with me. I'm used to seeing the grey when something is blocked out...
  24. While nearly any MM combo will be strong from 1 to 50, it's a more niche AT and might not be your cup of tea.

If your looking for a well rounded team AT that can solo extremely fast I'd say try:

    Fire/Ice Blaster.

Strong right out of the box and only gets better, once the mitigation tools are available soloing is a breeze and all your AOE's will make you very liked on teams.

For me, Blasters start off strong from 1-16, then hit a slump waiting on Stamina at 20, then the skies the limit!

Brutes, depending on the combo, can either start off feeling really strong or really weak. All comes down to fury generation and defense.

Scrappers all solo well and are useful in teams, however I have less experience with them so not sure how early they start to shine.
