  1. I'm actually posting all this from my job at an Inn. I have to say good morning to everyone that walks in.

    So, Good morning guys!

    (loves being paid to post)

    Ninjas

Well, I was writing up a few points on Ninja/Poison...

Then I noticed this is in the PvP section (hitting new posts makes me unaware of sections)
Since I don't PvP I can't really give any insight on how well they do there.

That said, if you haven't played Ninja's before they can be a minor pain to keep in line. GoTo command will be your best friend.

Also, I've heard really horrible things about /Poison for MM's. Ninja/Psn sounds like a painful combo for me, due to all the micro mananging.

However, they might be really good for PvP so I'll exit now and let someone with more knowledge help.

    Okay... Have fun!

Did you have a question? Or just letting us know?

    Some ideas I had

Cottage rule seems to apply here.

At this point in the evolution of the game if you changed Stamina at all be prepared for an unholy war on the forums. Stamina is not required. Only my Blasters find it really hard to skip, most of my others don't need it.

Concerning travel power changes. Not on your life. This would break so many toons as to not even be funny. While most of mine stick with just one, a select few use two. SS and Fly mainly. Concept reasons.
Why make it harder than it already is? I'd say just remove the restriction entirely but then you'd need to create a new City Traveler Vet reward as well.

While the initial fee has annoyed me when my level 8 gets an expensive drop and I can't afford to list it, it's there for a reason.
  5. They appeared during Beta briefly but then vanished again. So we know the markers are there, they just aren't present in game currently.

    or...maybe not...

I was initially for this as my solo blasters end up waiting for it to recharge a good bit pre stamina. But a mission last night and reading this thread has me now on the fence.

I picked up a mission to protect TPN from 100 destroyers. My Eng/Eng blaster foolishly went in with a nearly empty tray of insp and still rocking the TO's.
The mission started and I saw the 1st waves below me start charging up the stairs. I went into instinct and used my KB to keep them falling down the stairs and slowly picked them off. I noticed they were considerably weaker and smiled.
Then the next wave, and next wave. I was starting to get winded and popped my final blue. Then the next wave with a few runners from a previous surprising me from behind. I started to get overwhelmed.
I had to run, seek cover. So I Ninja'd all over the map, this way and that. Finally coming to rest on the ledge of a building I quickly hit rest. The moment it topped me off some Destroyers spotted me and jumped up.
I dispatched them and went back to the frontlines, I saw a humongous mob of destroyers awaiting me. This is gonna get bad I thought.
So I whittled them down one by one, using whatever tactics I could to survive. But, shortly after getting the 50 defeated message I was again in dire straights. I noticed I wasn't getting any drops from them, more than likely cause of the weakend state. So I ran and tried to repeat the previous rest trick. Got the ledge only to discover it hadn't recharged!
I knew they were hot on my trail so I went old school and started kiting.
After a very hectic few minutes and less than 15 left rest recharged and I was able to use it quickly and mop the stragglers up!

That was the most fun I've had in a solo mish since the 1st time I ran the Croatoa attack the ritual and stop the escaping fir bolg missions!!

Then I realized not having rest right back up kept it that way. I was out of options but I fought on and survived without dying. I felt like a Hero.

So I'm on the fence now and am curious to see for myself. I have a few throwaway toons and wondered if permarest could be reached with 6 slots and SO's, Might Vetspec tonight and run a few just to see how the feel would be.
  7. Guess all of Liberty was off saving the day or causing havoc all day and missed this thread.

Hope your nights as good as your day!
  8. Which is why I consider the difficulty level issue not something needing to be bickered about.
    A. We know the NPC models are in Praetoria, just not turned on.
    B. Lots of never before tried scenarios are being tested and the new tech that goes with.
    C. Knowing they'd need a good few weeks after launch of actual data to see what needs tweaking and what doesn't.
    D. The changes to some mobs already patched based on our feedback.

All this leads me to believe that it's in the best interest of the game to not have sliders available at 1st. Remember, when CoH launched they didn't even exist. It was created down the line once the spawns and everything had been balanced, it was then later modified to accomadate IO's.

So I expect we'll be able to ramp up or tone down to our hearts content in a few weeks. Until then I'm enjoying the danger.
  9. So I'm not going insane. I knew my blasters had been saved by 1 point on a few occasions as I used to monitor it with the old defiance...
  10. I really, really want to hunt Raptors in the Jungles of Praetoria.
They could be Remnants revived by Hami or some other reasoning.

    Give us Dinosaurs!

SCR - I know we don't have any skeletons in game that aren't bipedal. I'm saying it's time to change that.

    Otherwise, brilliant ideas!
  11. I can't find anything on Paragonwiki about new boots.
However, if I recall correctly you can change the hue of the flames so maybe they just tinted it orange? But if they weren't coming out of the sides then I'm not sure.
  12. As a 5 year vet I'd say yes and no.

I was curious about the pop ups when I heard about them. Got in game and saw my 1st one and thought it was cool.
Then I got another one and another one and before long I had a whole row going down my screen. All of them containing information I memorized long long ago.

So I went to options and disabled them and there in lies the problem. If you lumped everything into them what happens when people turn them off?

However, I would fully support the PvP contact run being changed into the AE contact type pop up box. When PvP was launched it was needed because the game already had a well established PvE crowd and tons of folks were worried they'd be forced to PvP.

However that was years ago. I see no need to force every single toon I make to jog over there when I actively choose to ignore the pvp zones. A simple pop up is all thats needed.
  13. Hmmm...

Is it a myth or not?

I always thought we did have a 'no one-shot' mechanic in place. What your seeing could be DoT ticks that count as more than one shot, or perhaps multiple attacks hit at once, like an Alpha.

From deep within my mind I seem to recall something along the lines of
falling damage only being able to take you down to 1 point and the same with ALL attacks, be it Lusca or a Hellion. It's just that most times attacks come so fast it feels like one-shot.

    Hmmm...

Now I'm all curious if this has just been a myth this whole time. Anyone know for sure?
  14. I live about 15 minutes outside of Birmingham so I was all excited when I saw this thread, until I noticed the EU beside it.

I live 15 minutes outside of Birmingham, Alabama...

All the same, hope you have a great turnout!
  15. Good morning Saint John! Hoping for a great weekend!

    Kick-*** Sequel

I finally got around to watching this the other night and didn't enjoy it as much as I'd expected. It was fun, just somewhat lighter than I thought.

Defendor was more like what I thought this movie would be like, just more comic book inspired. All the same, Big Daddy and Hitgirl rocked!!
  17. Wow, our definitions of fun really don't line up.

Still, in some odd way that is impressive. I can't even use Excel that well.
More power to you as long as it's fun.

    >_>

    <_<
  18. I'm still waiting to be bombarded with the rush of new players...

I've seen maybe, 3 in game with no vet badges and 3 on the boards asking questions...

I was really, really hoping GR would give us a large boost in popularity.

I'm still loving it all the same, just wish they'd spent something on advertising.
  19. Are you a min/maxer?

If no, then I'd say they aren't really all that useful before level 30.
I never bother with sets before then.
On blasters I will pop for a Karma KB protection around 20. Otherwise I stick with SO's and craft the common IO's that drop.

Doing it this way means that by level 32 (Nuke level for blasters) I usually have enough cash to start getting the global recharge and what not started.

As an aside, my 50's don't bother with them. To this day I haven't bought a purple. Level 50 is kind of like retirement for my toons as I don't enjoy TF's and don't farm or anything. So I get the sets for the climb to 50 but otherwise don't bother.

Your method may vary though, keep in mind invention sets didn't even exist for the 1st 9 issues so the game was made not to have them and the Dev's have made it clear that it's really just gravy, you'll never have to craft a thing. if you don't want to.
  20. Welcome to the game!

Like others have said, Far Strikes couldn't have cost that much really. But, when your new to the game 10,000 influence may seem like a lot.

    It's not though, you'll see.

However, in the meantime, send me a PM with your global and I'll Gleemail
you a million! Should help with the learning curve.

The only issue with having weapon sets as a secondary for Blasters would be redraw. It's a BIG issue though, I'm afraid. Really wouldn't be worth the time invested due to the outcry from players forced to redraw constantly.

Martial Arts on the other hand might be interesting. Blaster secondaries are indeed lacking. It could be turned into more of a mitigation set and less damage pretty routinely. Personally I'd prefer a Radiation or Sonic secondary though.

This I can support! I'd be worried about removing it entirely, as it might led to some weird results but with this set-up it'd still function in it's intended role without being abused.

    Can't decide

There is a reason he's called the Angel of Death.

He's not a bad guy, he's simply another Angel tasked with a gruesome chore. Reaping the souls of the recently departed, so they don't get trapped on the mortal plane.

    Sounds heroic to me.

Even though you despise the thought of him, when he claims the soul of your grandma, it'd be far worse if he didn't and you had to live with her ghost forever.

You could make the concept to have him fed on the souls of evil ones, while reluctantly taking the souls of the others.
  24. Archery/Mental Manipulation Blasters can be a lot of fun.

I've currently got Mental Marksman sitting at 28 over on Infinity. Actually thought about porting him to a lower pop server so I can play him while I wait for the crowds to die down.

Archery has virtually no flash though which is why I paired it with MM to begin with. It's a very silent and non-visual primary but does have some nice attacks.
  25. Except then they'd have an even harder time when it came to balancing the starting groups. This way they get to continue to use us as playtesters in order to dial in the precise diff. level they hoped to achieve.

Once they do they'll turn on Analysts because they'll be comfortable in the knowledge that the mobs are balanced enough to not get really broken with the myriad of options we now have on the sliders.

Just my opinion though. Still waiting for confirmation.

As an aside. Am I the only one who's really, really glad the temp power raptor packs and jump jets aren't avail in Praetoria? It's so refreshing to see everyone actually out and about instead of simply zooming straight to any door. Reminds me of the good ol days.
