  1. Welcome back to the game!!

The wiki is a great source for info.

Also, try cohplanner.com for a tool called Mid's Hero builder. It'll let you plan out builds while being offline.

    Also, check your PM's.
  2. Bots/Storm - Prototype Protector.
Prototype Protector was created by Neuron in one of his many attempts to impress Cole. Soon forgotton though, the Protector series was tossed to the Powers Division and sent on numerous menial tasks.

It was during one of these menial tasks that something unforseen happened. The prototype was assisting an elderly citizen with her groceries when a group of Destroyers started setting explosives nearby. His orders were clear. Do nothing but help the lady then return to station. His logic circuits refused to allow this though and began reprogramming his nerual network. It was at that moment he stopped being a mindless automaton and became a force for Justice.

(Storm is RP'd as Nanite clouds, which also allow him to control/ construct machines from parts lying around.)

    Ninja/Thermal - Spectral Samurai.

Spectral Samurai is not a person. It is a golem of sorts. Ancient magic. I have a collection of 'Guardians' that are sort of golems created by The Well over the eons when the need would arise. Spectral was one such guardian in an ancient time. Re-absorbed by The Well once it's work was complete. The recent surge in activity with The Well allowed Spectral to roam the physical plane once more.
  3. I usually laugh and smile all the way through one of Steel's infamous posts. This one however had a vague sense of being so accurate I just couldn't find it amusing...

    *In the words of Gump.
"Thats all I'm gonna say 'bout that."

    /This.

Lewt is something that improves your performance. Now you could classify Aura's and the like as rewards. But not loot.

(Semantics for breakfast tastes like oatmeal.)
  5. Buying mine as soon as I get home!!

When I heard about this pack I reserved the name Steam King on Virtue and now I can finally create him!!
  6. Wait Forbin, who do you know that gave you a lifetime sub for free?

    I've paid roughly $1300.00 for 21 Issues.

Honestly though, all the free Issues is one of the main things that hooked me for so long! Not having to fork over an extra $60 everytime something new came out rocks!

Yep. When the game gets it or the Dev's outright tell us it aint happening.
Until then though, expect quite a few more of these posts as the OP apparently wasn't aware that it's a uproar right now.

We have a vocal minority here on the forums. It may seem like everyone posts here but quite a few players have never even bothered to come here. Thus when they run the 800th trial in a row and feel like taking a breather from them they look around and scratch heads.

Then they come here to inquire about it. Not knowing it's the current forum battle de jour.

So yeah, I expect people will stop asking when one of the two above happens.
  8. You don't have to look further back than the weeks right after AE hit to understand what 'gamers' will do for rewards when allowed.
Even those opposed to PLing found themselves caught up in the feeding frenzy.

If they Dev's were to make all content reward Incarnate shinies I'm sorry to say it would be AE 2.0.

I can hear the broadcasts now. "Frostfire +4x8 incarnate farm forming now! 4 back to back runs for 10 million!!!"

"Incarnate Sewer team forming, when we reach the end we'll turn around!!"

So yeah, while on the outside it would seem like a good idea to let us decide what we want to play and still get rewarded. In reality it would fall to pieces very quickly.

I personally would expect a solo option to be half as fast as trials. Would take maybe 2 extra months solo as opposed to teaming. That way nobody would be running solo unless it was the only way they could/ what they wanted to do yet the soloers would still be able to make progress.
Who knows, a few of the holdouts might get a taste of the power and give in to the darksi... give in to the trials.
  9. How sad is it that here we are actually begging to pay for chest emblems and auras now??

Remember all those threads that popped up when the 1st booster was announced? All those threads with players vs players claiming this game had 'gone to the americans'.

The threads where we said, "Yikes, this is a slippery slope here, hope this doesn't mean we won't still get free costume updates" and all the others chiming in that we would be eating crow with all the doooom speak?

    Yeah...

Look, I understand Posi and crew need to put something in the system beyond powers. Otherwise a year from now it'd be next to impossible to form leagues for the trials with everyone just waiting for the next tier to hit then blitzing them. However, if the past 7 years have taught us anything it's that this community is ardent about it's customization.

    Very ardent.

Beyond that though, one of the things that has kept this game thriving for this long is the ability to create endless alts. I'd wager that a sizeable chunk of our community is still here solely for that reason. As opposed to the WoW mindset of grind one toon endlessly. What keeps this demographic subscribed is the additions of new costumes and powersets that have generally been included in Issues. Then boosters came and we slowly 'sucked it up' and relented to buying the ones we had concepts for.
    Life goes on.

    Now though...

I'll admit it's still in Beta so things could change. However, all I've seen indicated is they are looking at the prices, not the content. I don't expect any amount of 'shouting in the wind' will make them pull the aura's and such.

Sadly, this will not bode well for quite a few players. Hopefully they'll all just 'suck it up' some more.

In closing: I'm all for keeping the Incarnate Armor tied to the system. It makes sense and rewards those that become Incarnates. Also serves as a visual cue. I'm all for that. In truth I actually prefer boosters. As I like to give this game all the extra income I can. That said, I do miss the days of looking forward to all the new concepts I could roll when a new issue hit.
When I 1st saw the new aura's I instantly came up with concepts for 3 of them, nearly fully fleshed out one concept before I realized I'd never actually get to use them as I've choosen to opt out of the endgame.
  10. Yeah, everyone praising it's awesomeness just happens to forget to add the "At level 50" disclaimer with it.

Seems some people forget there are 49 levels of gameplay before then...

I use it on my Arch/MM as an O'S*** button. At level 35 it's still the only useful application I've found. When I get swarmed I'll click it before running for the extra boost... When it hits that is.

I'll admit. Once I was lucky enough to have it hit all 6 guys around me. I finished the animation and went to run only to realise I was already back in the green! Turned and fought them off just barely. Still, it's random enough that I don't risk using it much, yet.
  11. Well I was already to post the link that you'd been scooped by over a week, as the 1st strip was posted here on May 10th...

Then I read it again and got that warm happy fuzziness that just wiped away any snark.

Besides, because of a technicality (now there is a 2nd strip!!) this thread qualifies as 'fresh'.

Am I the only one wishing Waterson would approve of bringing this into canon and letting them release an actual collection?
I must've read Revenge of the Babysat dozens of times over the years.
  12. I was quite pleased with the lack of lag I endured. As long as I wasn't trying to fight anything I could fly around unhindered. Engaging in combat though proved useless for my new level 6, as my powers refused to activate for minutes on end.

Something very odd happened around an hour in though. I was hovering over a group of walkers in Steel and slowly plinking away with blasts. The screen flashed white for a split second and then all my powers were gone!
Both my trays were empty and pulling up my powers showed them all grey, as if I'd taken none at all...
I bind my travel power to the mouse though and it was still working so I spent the rest of the time just flying around trying to hunt down a Dev controlled icon with no luck.

I was stationed in Atlas 1 an hour before the event started but for some reason like a moron I listened to the admin message about spreading out and decided to check Talo's and Steel. When I heard about all the AV's in Atlas I was a little miffed that I missed it, as I was unable to locate anything other than standard spawns of walkers.

Otherwise it was a blast! I really liked the banter between the two sides.
  13. Afraid not.

There is still some debate on whether this is a feature thats WAI or is rather a bug in the AI.

The basic rundown is that it comes down to recharge. Your pets will try to use whatever attack is avail. first. For the ranged pets it's usually a ranged attack. However, while they await a power to recharge they will close to melee to use brawl.

To most of us, this feels like a bug. But it's never been acknowledged as such by the Dev's which leads some to believe it's a balance measure put in place to keep us from being OP'd.

Alas, aside from rocking the passive/attack macros there isn't a known workaround.

Really makes playing my Bots/Storm a pain...

As an aside. It seemed that this 'bug' got flipped around the time Demon's came out. Before then it was the melee pets that would get stuck cycling their one and only weak ranged attack. Making my Grave Knights stay at range and pew pew instead of pulling the sword. Was very aggravating.
Since GR though, it's the other way around. Go figure.
  14. I got to hover over the steps to City Hall and marvel at the impending invasion from Europe.

While I awaited the impending invasion from Praetoria!

Union had a large turnout from the looks of it. Found it interesting that we make the choice to segregate ourselves to such a degree. With everyone banding together with the refugees from their home servers.

    Enjoyed the event myself!

Keep the Acension armour for 50's and unlocked by merits. I'm okay with that, as long as it doesn't become ubiquitous. Those auras though? Those lovely, amazing new auras? Do the art team a service and let everyone experience them. They're hardly Incarnate-centric.
    This.

    Wow...

Do me a favor and re read the OP and explain to me how he's whining about being overpowered?!
Perhaps it would help if there was a GG winky after the question mark, to make it bluntly obvious that the title was said in a positive tone. Like
"Hey guys, look how awesome we are now!"

People need to stop assuming that the word Overpowered is a blanket statement calling for Nerfs. Nobody here called for any nerfs, just one player being proud of an accomplishment. If that accomplishment isn't impressive to you, why bother posting?

    *Shrugs*
  17. This thread is an epic failure in reading comprehension...

    *Facepalm*

Before anyone else jumps on the OP for being a whiner how about actually reading more than just the title?
  18. I'm in the '1st MMO' camp as well.

I'm guilty of the broadcasting why the train is broken while standing at the exit.
I'm guilty of looking for the save button after my 1st play session was over.

    Some of my individual goofs...

On my main, I put slots in Brawl at level 3 and 5... My reasoning was this power would be with me for 50 levels so I'd want it slotted! Doh!

Upon zoning into KR for the fist time at level 5, I come out the exit and immediately see a giant winged demon. I actually thought it was a high level player and fumbled with the right click to read his bio. The Behemoth wasted no time in correcting my error.

My 1st creation was a Blaster. In my head Heroes stand their ground and don't run... So I'd play with that mindset and got really used to the hospital. Wasn't until I came to the forums a month later cause my endurance usage was out of control that I learned how to make a tactical retreat! Big props to SnipeFu's old guide. It's the reason I kept playing for more than a month!!

This one isn't mine but I'll share it anyways.
I talked a real life friend into playing. We were talking on Yahoo while he made his toon and ran the tutorial. I told him I'd be waiting by Mrs. Liberty when he zoned out. While I was waiting I saw a SG buddy and ran over to say hi. He zones out and looks around, sees an NPC civ walking by with my name and proceeds to slowly follow them, thinking it's me in my secret identity costume! I fly over to him in and hit the invite to team. He declines and then says over Yahoo that this high level hero has a cool looking costume. I just said thanks and explained the confusion. ;p
  19. I was just waking up. (I work graveyard too)
  20. Yeah I'm with ya.

This past season put the final nail in the coffin for me when it comes to the networks. I'd already decided not to even bother watching the previews for The Cape after NBC denied us a proper finale for Heroes. Didn't feel like getting caught up in another show destined to be pulled out from under us.

ABC hooked me with NOF instead and I was really enjoying it...

I'm done with Network TV until they can get their ratings system inline with the modern age. Long gone are the days of Nielson Families all gathering round the tube every night. With Netflix and Hulu and DvR's the times have changed but the networks evaluation system hasn't kept up.

I won't bother getting involved in anything else for the simple fact I don't like to be left hanging. I'll just wait for the full season DvD's of shows I'd want to watch. At least then I know I'll be able to actually finish a season!

I'm not even joking either. I deleted 15 shows from my season pass and from this point forward the ONLY show I'll watch on the networks is
So you think you can dance (It's my crack)

If the cable channels like Syfy and the like don't knock off this 'show 4 episodes then break for a year' nonsense like they're doing with Eureka then they'll be next to go and I'll have much more free time on my hands for COHing...

Naturally as Electric pointed out, some of this has to do with my own maturing. Alas not all of it I'm afraid, for reasons stated above.

The future of TV is the internet anyways, it's just a matter of years at this point.
  21. Wow, I really like the look you achieved there. I can see why you'd want the perfect name to go with him.

I'm actually leaning towards your pick of
    The Magistrate

    Or

    Mr. Magistrate
    Executioner
    Directive
Judge (1st name of choice here)
    Silent Judgement
    Law Maker
  22. Sometimes I think Steel's mind works a lot like Murdochs from The A-Team.

That is a good thing though!

I've never been that serious about RPing my characters. I can't play a toon without a decent concept and name though. I usually play 'IC' on all my alts though. Reacting and responding how they would in the situation.

That said, I never bother with (()) for OOC chat. I generally try to reword somethings to make them more immersive. Saying "Whoa, nice power surge!" when someone Dings instead of Grats. But for anything truly ooc I just roll with it if I can't twist it around. Perhaps if I was in a static team that was more serious I would, but 10 times out of 10 most of the team is ooc anyways.

    SG or Cult?

    So what's more shocking;

That they have such restrictive rules in place?

    Or

That they somehow still manage to have an active SG with said rules?

Fun is subjective, just ask SteelClaw.

I can see that SG having a certain appeal with it's no nonsense approach. I'd never join though as it's a little to 'head in the sand' for my tastes, I mean you can't even mention the Phalanx without penalty!
