Sadly I have to work that night, otherwise I'd love to attend.
I'm going to be on that evening for a bit here and there though. You should announce the group shot in LFG Beta or some channel right before you do it. I'd love to see that many illusionists all gathered. -
Quote:Attaining evidence without a warrant, by proxy of suspicion, is only applicable to law enforcement officials and other sanctioned organizations. As far as evidence goes all that is needed for entering without a warrant is suspicion that something wrong is happening. A 911 call for example and a loud fight or something would certainly fit the bill.
Even then the evidence is most often tossed out by the judge before the trial even begins.
You can see a huge bag of weed on some dudes coffee table when you deliver his pizza but if you go and 'seize' it and try to use the hollywoodized 'citizens arrest' nonsense to get it entered into evidence, I'm afraid you'll be sorely dissappointed at our judicial system afterwards...
Quote:Corporate can be worked from any number of angles...for example an employee that just happens to get files that are incriminating sent to them "accidentally"
Quote:Further you could work out a way fund this venture by way of having several groups/people that get orders from others who get orders from others so that noone would know who is in charge per se even if the funder was in the room. You could even go so far as to hand a set of orders to some random person off the street have them give it back to you and then say that "someone handed it to you and told you to hand it to the person at x spot"
Vigilante groups like this have worked in the past, for limited timeframes, but are always brought down for the reasons listed. Vigilante groups in other countries however... They often times flourish so much that, eventually they get just as corrupted and end up overthrowing the established rulers.
No, I'm sorry, it just wouldn't work in modern society.
You would have to have an organization so large, so powerful and connected, that no matter what happened you'd be protected. But then, you'd be something on the magnitude of The Illumniati or other such supposed groups. Of course, if you are that powerful you wouldn't be wasting time busting crooks... You'd be slowly instituting a new world order instead...
No amount of money would conceal this type of operation forever. Eventually the law would catch up with you. -
Quote:This seems like the most obvious answer.Amazon has 2 copies of the Collector's Edition (Well, they've got 10, but 8 are listed as 'used', so I'd advise against them)
It's a collector's edition. Releasing the things that make it unique would result in it no longer being a collector's item, resulting in all those that bought it as such being very very upset. Doesn't matter if it is 'actually' collectible, all that matters is that it was advertised as such.
The rarity seen at Amazon would vanish overnight. Even though Paragon gets no money from those transactions, they can't take any actions to undermine the sellers as they bought the CE in good faith that it would increase in value as a result. It might not, that's a risk the buyer takes, but the company that sells the item can't take action to undermine it's value after the sale. Even when it hurts the bottomline. -
Gamers solve long standing science puzzle
Thoughts?
The specific group responsible sounds more like a ThinkTank of people in the industry, as oppossed to regular 'Gamers'. Still the concept of Crowdsourcing intrigues me.
Discovery by council is how we gained most of the knowledge we currently possess. With discovery by academia only coming to prominence in the last 200 years.
Back in humanities youth, philosphers were very very important, using logic and reasoning to figure out how things worked, why things happen etc. It was in these forums, bouncing ideas from one mind to another, that the majority of our knowledge began to take shape.
Fast forward a few centuries and we started getting a bit of a big head. Once we had a foundation of knowledge it was determined you had to 'learn' what we'd already 'figured out' after decades of this the paradigm shifted. Philosphers started being regarded more and more as crackpots while academia remained stagnant and confident in their superiority.
Long gone are the days when a group of Humans could sit around and play connect the dots with the world. Because we've been there and learned it. Today sadly, philosphers are more likely to be seen in boxes in alleys than in large venues. With the rigid structure of learning being reinforced, regadless of it's effectiveness.
Anyways, didn't mean to go off on a tangent.
Thoughts?
Wave of the future or just a passing fluff piece? -

I figured this was about the random bug that injects some random piece for odd reasons when loading a saved costume.
Seems that no matter what, whenever I load a costume, even if there aren't any errors from locked pieces, something always gets changed. I notice right off seeing the red amount by the section.
Usually something like my layered pad shoulders will suddenly have the Spiky ones, or the goggles up suddenly changes to daddy-O glasses.
Just really odd. Always been like that for me though. -
I still have them so that's an option. (I rarely delete anything)
My Broadsword/WP is sitting at level 22 I think, so I may just keep chugging with him.
Got a Kat/SR at 22 as well.
Still considering rolling a War Mace/Invul though. -
I'm still waiting for actual Claws... At this point I'd settle for being able to choose 'None' under weapons for Claws, that way my beast characters won't be stuck with metal claws and would at least be using his own.
I'm all for more Katana options though. I was debating rolling a new Scrapper and recently looked at all the models. I wasn't able to find one that begged for a concept though. -
Without any superpowers to speak of, what you'd end up with would be a group of mercenaries. Vigilantes that take the law into their own hands.
Even with a kill only as needed mandate, lethal force would still be the most used method, even more so after the 1st few 'evidence gathering' missions resulted in legal loopholes setting the perp free.
Things would start to fall apart from there. Regardless of how many measures you put in place to ensure secrecy or how well you secure the group the truth will get out.
The suspect would no doubt tell his attorney all about the 'masked men with machine guns' that busted into his place with a flashbang grenade. After the 3rd or 4th such suspect relayed the same information to the D.A. they would have no choice other than starting an investigation. The more this occurs the more likely it is various departments would form a task force, specifically geared towards rooting you out. If they were unable to, due to your funds hiding them and you keep doing it... It wouldn't be long before the feds were involved with the case. No amount of money will keep you in business at that point. At least not in the same manner.
The 1st time your vigilante group kills someone prominent, even if guilty, there will be a public outcry for your arrest. The media, once they get wind of it, and they would pretty swiftly, would be on it day and night. With that kind of publicity, and possible rewards for info, no amount of 'off the grid' will protect you for long. Not while still allowing you to do the job.
Then you have the issue of loyalty. With a ragtag group of Mercs, no matter what the mix is, be it they know each other or not, one or more of them will end up getting upset over something. It could be that their tactics aren't being followed, perhaps they want more pay. Anything from jealousy to guilt will end up making one of your own turn against you. Then it would be game over, as the law doesn't care about motive or justification.
Groups of this nature have been tried countless times in various incantations in various locales. Always ending up being forced to come into the open, to disclose policies and ultimately to cease activity of a vigilante nature. What results is those groups downgrade into WatchDog coalitions. The very inactivity that spurred them to form in the 1st place. Or the more common Bounty Hunter outfits, but they have very strict laws they must go by.
The only way I could see a group like this working would be if they decided to not employ law enforcement. To act as judge jury and executioner. That would eliminate the most obvious issues but then you still have to figure out how to dispose of the bodies without being caught etc etc. Not to mention the ethical considerations invovled with going that route. -
Just great...
Now I might as well not even bother watching the Harry Potter movies, I mean here I was waiting all this time so I could watch them all together, start to finish, managed to go this long without hearing any spoilers at all and then you go and let this slip?!?!
(Honestly though, that particular spoiler was actually spoiled for me. I'd managed to avoid having it revealed for years after the movie came out. Was less than a week away from getting around to watching it. Standing in line at wal-mart I start reading the back of some dudes shirt. It's a huge list of spoilers, just spoilers, for all kinds of movies. I'd seen most of them so I wasn't really thinking about it, kept reading and sure enough, right there in bold letters, Snape Kills Dumbledore.
:-O
(Just made me wanna see why that much more though) -
/This.
I did the same thing, checked the name 1st and all.
Then I was shocked to see the 1 at the end. I'm thinking the name was grabbed in a nanosecond.
Logged in to see how I could adjust it. Deleted the 1 and clicked OK just for the heck of it. Done. I still had my name!
Not sure why it puts the # there if it isn't needed but there ya go. Just log in and take the 1 off. -
So you're saying MGM had to pay for the right to name there movie this?
If that's true, wouldn't they have just called it SuperDuperHeroTime or something and saved the fee?
Perhaps this is one of those CYA deals, never enforced due to the absurdity of it, but there all the same incase someone starts hurting the reputation. -
I've been looking forward to the signature arcs! Though I realize actually getting to experience the story firsthand without it being spoiled on here beforehand is... doubtful at best.
I hope that the "Who will die" reveal isn't broadcasted all over the place before I have a chance to find out ingame but we'll see. -
My Warshade feels the most like my 'Jack of all' character. Extremely powerful when played correctly yet requires you to pay attention, avoiding the boredom of the 'set and forget' types. Just remember the mantra; "You are all forms at all times." I was never able to get into Khelds until I embraced that notion.
If I was forced to pick a standard AT? I'd have to go with Bots/Storm. -
Quote:Realize they have no feel for the character, the powers, the best chain, things they should've grabbed when needed and mistake that impression for the character 'sucking' at which point they either;I have no idea what the LFFF people do once they have a 50. Go begging for another?
Come here asking for an uber build.
Or.
Go begging for another. -
Nuke-blue insp-Conserve Power-Burnout-Nuke. Even with the crash.
Don't see the need to double stack my AoE holds though, as they are often enough to do the job with my other powers lending support.
In AV situations though... -
Love the look of relief and contented joy on his face! Congratulations!

Nothing locks down enemies and makes me feel like a powerhouse quite like my Earth/Storm Controller... Thing is a beast.
With Dom's though, I'd lean towards Plant/Thorn myself. -
-
God speed Electron Boy, you've completed the tutorial levels now we need your help in the higher levels.
-
I enjoyed the new tutorial for what it was worth. Hadn't played the old one in ages since I didn't have to. Probably won't play this one anymore now that I've run it twice.
While I liked the overall feeling of it, the rush of battle and all. I'll agree that rush makes you feel pressured to hurry and get into it. Much like STO's tutorial with it's blaring alarms etc. Not a fan of that as the very first impression.
I enjoyed the massive battle with the Shiv but realized it's because those types of events happen very rarely in the game. When I realized that I started asking myself if it was wise to put an epic encounter in the tutorial.
As it stands now, my Hero/Villain takes out a giant beast with little help at level 2. I then go to bashing thugs skulls in and unless I run a sewer trial, I won't encounter another large threat for how many levels? 40+?
Could be a little misleading to true newbies.
I'd also like a little backstory on BaB's and crew. Even being familiar with them, I right clicked to read up on them as any new player would.
That said, I've been soloing the Twinshot arc and I must say it's been really fun so far. Informative without being in your face and actually helps to integrate new players, making them feel connected to the city from an early level. -
**John Spartan, you are fined five credits for repeated violations of the verbal morality statute.**

Quote:Yay! So this means the Mac issue's are close to being fixed?
Paragon actually did hold off the Launch of i21 due to issues with the Mac client (hence them announcing the date at PAX like they originally planned, as well as the NCSoft Store removing all the boosters/expansions so long before the release!), but eventually they had to push it out (and they fixed the launcher bug at the last minute, and the text error on the Paragon Market soon after that).
Oh no, Kitsune discovered my kryptonite!
-
More than likely because more than 75% of the subscribers are not on Mac's. Holding off on something that 75% of your user base can use... Just so you don't upset the other 15% wouldn't make much financial sense either.
I'm not saying it's a good thing. I'm just saying it's a fact that you, as a Mac user, have to accept. Good of the many will always outweigh the needs of the few, even more so when money is on the line.
If you reversed those (admitedly made up) numbers, if Mac users represented the majority then they would most certainly 'hold back'.
*Shrug*
