If you fail the requirements for the MotSF badge, can you still complete the TF for the regular level badge/merits?
-
Did you have a reason for gender-bending? That's a pretty significant change for a character to make (without the aid of surgeon, at that) so it should really play into the concept.
-
I miss the comments, too. Then again, I love public access TV and listening to loonies on public transit.
-
Ugh, i wish I had the foresight to do a list. I'm sitting at 12/13 right now, and its driving me crazy. I have a stinking suspicion the holdout is Malaise, seeing how much AVs I've beaten multiple times (Infernal, Black Swan, etc etc) but i can't recall beating him. :-(
-
Vaz are the worst. They really stick out as overly brutal to lowbies, especially compared to Skulls, Hellions and Clocks. Even a gray-con Embalm can lay waste to a team.
-
Almost all of the controllers have Fly, mostly because I am very very lazy. I can aim for the mission beacon and then tab over, check my e-mail or post with you knuckleheads.
-
There were a few things I saw as different for a Time Control (or a Time support) set, aside from the usual -recharge debuff. +recharge buff.
-Buffing your teammates so they perform as if they were one level higher (for purpose of acc, damage, def, etc.) and debuffing enemies so they perform one level lower (turning purples into red, for the purpose of acc, damage, def, etc.
-Double Timing, basiclly two of yourself in the same moment, casting the same power in tandem. Like Domination for trollers, but it probably be unncessary when GR hits. Although I still like the idea of having a past version of yourself as a pet. Maybe it uses the powers you had available when you were your current level/2. So when you get it at 32, it fights as a -1 like other pets, but uses the powers you had at 16.
- a sort of Time Out power, sort of a Phase Shift for the entire team that could be the ultimate Oh Shi- button. Buy yourself 30 seconds to rez, recover, or run like hell. -
Ugh, I too am not thrilled with Elect/ as a troller primary. I think its to tough to balance. On blasters/fenders, as someone has mentioned, if you haven't completely floored their end and recovery, they can and will continue to attack as usual. If they buff that effectiveness for Controllers and Defenders, it runs the risk of being an over-powers sapper build.
Personally, I'd rather see Time Controllers. And no. Gravity is NOT time. -
I have more of an issue with the "I'm an alternate reality version of X" excuse. That, to me smacks a bit of unoriginality, unless there's a clever twist to it. "I'm the Dimension X version of Positron, where he was raised by the Partridge Family!" is more more interesting than "I'm the Dimension X version of Positron, where he has slightly different colors and powers! Wow!"
On the same note, I don't mind people riffing off in-game characters if they can do it with a fun or original twist. Honestly , I think it makes this universe feel more real and fleshed out if all these heroes somehow effected one another. The staple characters of CoX don't have to exist in a vacuum. They can have lovers/children/agents/servants/college roommates/chiropractors/whatever.
To the OP, I think your concept is salvageable. Consider another name like "The Arachnid Kid" or "Web Wonder" or "Herr Zpidar" or something, and that will solve alot of the resemblances. -
I gotta say, my first Hami Raid (old style) is easily one of my top 3 CoX moments. Scores and scores of us gathered in the round plaza in FF (where Infernal is) and the leaders started organizing into teams. Then they gave the GO command, and everyone headed out. Superjumping through Eden, I looked down and saw dozens of speedsters tearing trails across the landscape. Fellow SJers rose and fell, bounding through the sky, and overhead where flocks and flocks of flyers. It was SO DAMN EPIC and it really did have the nervous, excited vibe like we were headed off to war.
The new raids are still fun- not quite so epic- but not quite so laggy either. Still, squatting a spot in Hive 1 is a hassle and a half. -
Quote:This sounds like such a crazy tactic, but I have to admit, and I am very intrigued by it.Basically I want to cast sleet, jump in and die and then blow them all up with rotp!
I know many many people are keen on the def of earth armor, but oh my dear lord, I did not just spend hours at the tailor fine-tuning my look to slap big lumps of monkey poop all over it. There are very VERY few toons that can wear the rock armor and not look completely stupid. -
Why would you farm Gold over other salvage? I haven't check the latest prices at WWs, but I can't imagine its THAT valuable.
*flips blond hair idly* -
Same. Warwolves, I think went you have a whole pack of them all up in your grill, can stack enough KB to toss my Frad. Not much else shy of a GM in melee range.

Quote:Ah I see. I read your post too quickly. Yeah, an End Red in Cages would be a pretty good idea, especially considering how fast you can spam it.I really don't mind - it's your opinion. Anyway, when I mentioned +endrecovery vs endreduction I was just giving Fire Cages as an example as its endcost per activation is quite noticeable. Obviously, rad toggles should also be slotted with endreds as should hotfeet and chocking cloud.
Unprocced they work just fine. Proc'ed, they will lock down bosses, the bosses kids, lawyers, bank accounts, and ruin their credit ratings. My Fire/Rad has 100% defense against bosses spasming in little lightning bubbles. The question is to you want them to work well or work OMFG NOBODY MOVE!!! -
Quote:LMAO, I did the EXACT same thing. And here I thought I'd screwed some of my settings and accidentally hidden them. I spent a while on the Options panel yesterday scratching my head.
I vote to bring them back too. I hate it when the fragile people whine enough to dictate policy. They need a tall, cold glass of Get Over It. -
Quote:I don't agree with that. Fire/Rad relies on some very hungry toggles (HF + CC) so the more you can offset that expensive drain, the better.
Also keep in mind that having +endrecovery bonuses is good but slotting you're spammable powers (eg: fire cages) for endurance reduction helps just as much. So you might want to consider dropping that damage proc on Fire Cages and put an Endurance Reduction IO or Immob/End, Acc/End.
Quote:I would also get rid of the Lockdown +2 Mag Hold - it really is not worth it. Actually, I don't like that Set at all, but I guess it's a matter of taste.
Quote:I'm not sure if a mag 4 knockback protection will give you any protection at all so you might want to put a 5th red fortune on Rock Armour instead. I could be wrong tho, but I believe mag 8 is the minimum to get it to work decently.
Storm is cute and all, but at the end of the day, it's Rad that gets the job done. When's the last time you were on a team and someone said "Wow, we need to get us a /storm"? -
Local Man is usually spot-on with his feedback, so I'll just second most if not all of what he said. One thing i notice missing is any kind of Knockback protection. I would highly recommend sneaking one it hover or CJ. It can be a lifesaver.
I'm one of the rare fans of Smoke, but its -tohit is pretty minor, especially compared to RI. One slot is plenty. It's real strength is the -percep that can help manage tightly packed spawns and adventurous imps. -
Quote:I went with the theory that the Dark was actually a nanoswarm. Clouds of tiny robots that could repair wounds, dismantle an enemies armor, create horrifying images, or even assemble into an autonomous being. With power customization, there's even more ways to be creative explaining the combo.Bots dark is so good, it was my first 50, and I'm tempted to make another one.
It eats everything. You become invaluable in almost all situations.
And it's a blast. The only problem most people have is a theme.
My dude is a wizard from the past who used dark magic to get robots from the future so he could take over the world.
On the comparison between a Bots/Dark and a Dark/Dark though? Not too sure, I haven't tried a dark/dark, although personally if I were planning too I'd roll a defender and make a D3.

Quote:I'm all for new hand graphics. The slab-o-hands are pretty grotesque. Realistic bust physics sounds good to me too. Sign me up for that!Revamped avatars - more expressive faces, turning at the waist, more realistic bust shapes, more detailed hands - and maybe even animated hair
I'd like to see a "goose-for-gander" philosophy for costumes. I understand the ladies can't go topless, but why no cigars for the ladies? Where's the leather corset for the men? This game is really at its best when you empower people to have FUN with it, and yes, that means a huge-scale, bearded Japanese school "girl." -
Bots/Dark is pretty darn fun. I've tried alot of MM combos, especially when the comm officer farms would let you blast a toon to 32 to really try out alot of features. Bots/Dark is still my fave. It's a total lawnmower.

I ran these last night (Nov 10th, 2009) and also got the badges for 35-39. The Meteor can be a chore to solo if you're not a damage dealer, and are trying to beat the clock.

Quote:Not handy (I'm at work atm.) I do make use of the Jester masks (3 out of have 5 masks, one has the 2 point hat.)Hm, this is tough because I don't really have a good theme to work with here. The name is silly and doesn't really suggest a theme to go with. Do you have a screen shot?
I was definitely thinking some kind of sardonic, darkly humorous origin. Not quite grim and gothy, but with a certain, well, sick twist to it. -
i'll try riffing on what you had:
Clyde Gardener was perched on the verge of success. His tiny startup Electroflight was about to reveal the Ornithopter, a powered exo-suit capable of making human flight safe and affordable for every man, woman and child. This could change the world, change civilization as we know it- if not for the Sky Raiders.
They raided his lab, abducted his employees, and stole the blueprints and the prototypes... all but one. From the ashes of his company Clyde retrieved a militarized version of the exo-suit he was developing in secret. If the Sky Raiders knew it existed... Clyde might just have to show them. Give them a first hand demonstration, rescue his kidnapped employees, and restore his fallen company.
Quote:I'm usually very good with coming up with character bios but there is one character I have that has been very troublesome for me, probably because he's so conventional (Or at least he seems that way to me.) so on whim, why not? Actually I did have a start on his bio, which I will give below, but I'm willing to scrap it if someone here can come up with something more compelling.
Super name: Ornithopter; Gender: male; Archtype and powers: Techology-based defender with archery, trick arrows and, of course, flight.
Description:- A thin-to-average build white male in his late 20s with a mustache.
- Wears a high-tech, armored chest plate and shoulder pieces all linked into a set of flapping, robotic wings. He calls this his "wing vest." The wings and chest plate are red with blue highlights.
- He wears a conical helmet with a built in AR computer (Tracking, HUD, targeting laser, control yoke for the wings and stuff like that.) and weilds a high-tech compound bow. The helmet is red (I think blue highlights as well.).
- Wears loose black pants tucked into black boots with a single white stripe running from belt to heel. Wears black gloves with a similar white stripe.
Clyde Gardener, a mild mannered mechanical engineer who worked at a small startup in Berkeley California called Electroflight LLC developing a powered exoskeleton, driven by revolutionary electrical capacitor/battery, that grants the wearer bird-like flight. There was a suspicious industrial accident (Competitors? Foreign spies? Simple theft?) and Clyde decides to don the remaining prototype vest to go out that bring the perps (Assuming there are any) to justice, and incidently fix the company's bottom line.
So he's sort of like a poor man's Iron Man/Hawkeye/Green Archer type. I was stunned to find "ornithopter" available as a name.
Anyone want to run with that? Or come up with something better? I can post a screenshot of him tonight if that helps. -
More gris for the mill!
Here's one I'll throw out there-
My main, Twicken Sisted (she used to be Chitzen Giggles before she got gen'd)
Science origin Fire/Rad controller
She's pre-i16, and I've kept her powers pretty faithful to the original fire=red, rad = green. Her trademark colors and black and red with bright green accents. Lots of horizontal stripes.
I've never thought of a good bio for her. I had some thing going about the hazards of eating 20 year old cans of Soviet chili, but nothing really popped. -
