Dark/Dark or Robot/Dark?

I'd like some opinions here. I've never liked Dark Blast or Dark Miasma, mostly because the look didn't appeal to me. That's changed with power customization, and I have a great idea for a character concept now. But I'm unfamiliar with Dark Miasma and can't decide whether I want to make my new villain a corruptor or a mastermind.

Obviously the mastermind would be more "uber" (I've taken robots to 50 before, so I know all about that), but what would the corruptor be like? The attack chain on Dark Blast interests me, Tenebrous Tentacles and Night Fall look like they make for very rapid AoE damage with some recharge reduction.

And because it's relevant, this character would always be teamed with a claws/willpower brute. So, it's a duo character.

Your thoughts everyone?

Bots/Dark is pretty darn fun. I've tried alot of MM combos, especially when the comm officer farms would let you blast a toon to 32 to really try out alot of features. Bots/Dark is still my fave. It's a total lawnmower.

Try the corruptor side. I do not have a dark/dark corruptor but I have a dark/dark defender, a dark/archery defender, a cold dom/dark defender and a fire/dark corruptor at lv 50 ( as well as storm/dark at a lower level ). The dark/dark is still my favorite character of all to play and is the only one I routinely play once they hit 50. I think that combo may work even better as a corruptor. It is not the fastest leveling character I have ever taken to 50 ( my masterminds are ), but if you are not in a hurry it's wonderful. Try it, you'll like it.

If you are interested in the Dark Blast attack chain, I would think that interest would override the offensive assault in the robots, which is quite potent. The Miasma side is right up there with Storm on the impact it can make to a villain team. Tar Patch, Howling Twilight, Darkest Night, and Fearsome Stare are the core powers you should be familiar with. Each are flexible in usage and don't cause conflicts in their usage, except everyone like to kill the 'anchor'. In other words, your brute friend will rock out in the dark miasma environment.

I've taken your advice before Psylenz, so this is something to consider, hmmm. I'm leaning towards the Mastermind, mostly because with the Corruptor's build I'm having a little trouble ramming everything in and slotting it up. The addition of today's booster pack changes things though, I was thinking of using Ninja Run to get around. How does this test build look? ignore the SOs, I use level 30+ generic IOs and the SOs work as placeholders when I'm planning like this.

Bots dark is so good, it was my first 50, and I'm tempted to make another one.

It eats everything. You become invaluable in almost all situations.

And it's a blast. The only problem most people have is a theme.

My dude is a wizard from the past who used dark magic to get robots from the future so he could take over the world.

On the comparison between a Bots/Dark and a Dark/Dark though? Not too sure, I haven't tried a dark/dark, although personally if I were planning too I'd roll a defender and make a D3.

Thanks for the input everyone! Except you Kool_Virus. Your post was bad and you should feel bad. Anyway! I came to a decision, I'll go with the robot/dark, mostly because the brute friend asked me to

Bot/Dark was my second ever L50, back in I8. It is stupidly powerful, even with SOs - you have to do something really silly to get defeated with it, but it's so powerful it tempts you into trying silly things It was a bit too easy sometimes. Hope you have fun with yours.

I've never been tempted by Dark Blast (the damage seems low) and its controls/debuffs might be overkill with Dark Miasma, but I have played in a lot of corruptor/brute duos to 50 and they do work very well.

Bots/Dark, powerful combination.

3 bots summons
2 upgrades

Dark secondary:

Twilight Grasp
Tar Patch
Howling Twilight
Darkest Night
Shadow Fall
Fearsome Stare
Petrifying Gaze
Dark Servant

Pools:
Fitness (it would be hard without)
Hasten (for the Dark click powers mostly)

Travel:
Pick one, I went with teleport because at the time the robot minions were getting stuck in the geometry.

Now my last suggestion: pick up the photon grenade from the robot primary. It is good for small sized AoE pulls. It stacks nicely with Howling Twilight. Although not highly reliable, you have the opportunity to stun tough lieutenants such as: longbow nullifiers. When you get to level 32 and the Protector bots start spewing out endless streams of photon grenades and seeker drones, you will have even more stun to stack with your grenades. Good luck.

I went with the theory that the Dark was actually a nanoswarm. Clouds of tiny robots that could repair wounds, dismantle an enemies armor, create horrifying images, or even assemble into an autonomous being. With power customization, there's even more ways to be creative explaining the combo.
