You probably don't remember me but Happy Birthday anyway
Here's to seeing you back and restoring the Pingu's to their old glory!

Quote:I have the impression, reading between the lines that it doesn't release us, so much as it 'goes to sleep' and leave us becoming the incarnates we were meant to become. My biggest problem with the whole business is that it's turning into a rehash of _A Spell for Chameleon_. I wonder what would happen if someone walked up to the Well and said "I release you"?
Statesman took the 'fast path' by following the myths surrounding it, and thereby gaining the powers of Zeus. Just as Hero-1 accepted the myth of his people and taking on the power of Excalibur and taking on its power, regardless to his tie to the well or not.
We are not as constrained. We know what it really is, and are taking the 'slow' path to making what we are at our core, an incarnate of ourselves, for good or for ill. I have the feeling the Omega slot will be about facing down the Well itself and putting it back into its slumber, removing its influence from our development once and for all. However, by that time we will probably be about as godlike as a game should make us based on alpha slotting, up.
My fear is that we start getting pigeonenholed into a conflict that takes us beyond being comic book heroes and villians, and putting us into a setting that requires us to be something... else, that the lore itself propogates, making us puppets to the storyline, rather than to some code of morality that we define for ourselves or our characters.
In this respect I defer to Superman from the comic books, and the direction they may take him. Once we achieve his [current] level of power, are we to become embroiled into some storyline not of our making? Our heroes and villains taken out of their player invented backgrounds to play in some arena that until now only laid its eyes upon Kheldan and Arachnos characters?
...But I digress.
As much as I embroil my characters into the events of the game as a thought-experiment of my choosing, and often put my own 'spin' into how they perceive the events around them, taking their play into something I could never see them in as a 'bait and switch' would be.. undesireable. I present what I wrote as a possible 'out' when the time comes, and hope they choose creativity over control when its all said and done.
Worked for Good Omens and it can work here. or should.

Quote:NostialgiaAtlas Park has fans?
In any case, why would anyone bother keeping the old, non-enhanced version of Atlas? You have a career in marketing ahead of you if you can really pitch the preservation of an old zone without any graphical enhancements as a feature that will make the "fans" of the newly remodeled zones jealous over their lack of preserved nostalgia.
Do not underestimate it. Particularly in the comic book fandom crowd... -
That was my concern, especially with the wording. I'm going to go with DumpleBerry on this one though and keep optimistic that it was just poorly worded, and we keep what we already have, and that we can use tokens to get the other vet badges we may not have gotten yet, making the icons tier based instead of month based or something.
-
Quote:Thanks! That's what I thought was said previously... I just got hung up on the use of the word 'reslot' implying that it was possibly going to be 'un' slotted and you could slot it again if you wanted to, or not.No. The Paragon Rewards you've "already" accrued up to this point will be allocated for you, in exactly the stuff you've already unlocked. You'll get the choices, if eligible for choices, after you earn another token after I21 goes Live.
I'm going to presume, until told otherwise, that it was just poorly worded. -
Quote:So wait. Wait wait wait... (re-reads it again)You can then use Reward Tokens to unlock Paragon Rewards. All the same badges from the Veteran Rewards program can still be unlocked in the Paragon Rewards program. You can choose to reslot them as rewards. Or you can choose different rewards. The choice is yours--
If I'm reading this right, we'll lose all our current veteran badges, but can re-purchase them if we want them?
Everything else seems totally awesome, and I'm looking forward to it, but having to re-buy stuff we already have seems kind of bogus... or did it mean veteran badges we currently don't possess but want we can still buy in the new system?
It's the word 'reslot' that has my head tilted.
Just looking for some clarification...

Quote:Like most I would say it depends on the character, with the caveat that the more learn about the stories/world, the more involved the characters usually get.So, think about it and tell me this: Do you prefer to design characters who actually care about the specific events that the story tells about, or would you rather make unconnected characters who simply exist in the same world but mostly care about other stuff you make up for them?
I've wanted to respond in the "how you design your character" thread but I was having a hard time putting it into words, since every character has a rather unique reason for their inspiration and creation. However, this kind of plays into it, so I'll brush on it here.
Lyc's my first character, so his interweave into the story is relatively minor and after-the-fact since I knew nothing about the world when I made him. I just wanted a werewolf character. After I'd learned about the first Haloween event (just missed it) in Issue 2(?) Well it was easy to say he got bit during that, and I hadn't decided on a "home" zone for him until Croatoa came out.
Well needless to say, I have a lot more knowledge of the stories and lore in the game, and have a lot more characters that are woven into the fabric of the game as a product. Hellion Hound, T3h H4xx0r, Surround-Sound, and others are deeply woven into the lore; whereas I have others that are designed from whole-cloth and are only periperally tied into the 'story' of the game.
However, to come back to your question; all of them care about the storyline in varying degrees. That's part of the fun of different characters. The thought experiment of getting into their individual motivations and headspace helps flesh them out in my mind and make the game more engaging for me.
For a number of them I actually have the goal of getting them through x storyline because it fits them, or because I desgned them with a particular arc in mind, and I want to see how they interract with it. The results can sometimes vary wildly, and I learn interesting quirks about the characters that way. What is an easy fight for one is a grueling task for another, one studies the clues intently where another barrels through headlong into the fight without a care for the why. All those factors add to the character's 'personality' and gives them depth.
Even though I've run many of the arcs multiple times (and I run Oro often so I've done them all at least once) the experience is a little different every time because each character has their own take on that storyline. What's funny is I sometimes walk away from an old arc I've done a ton of times before and learn something new about it because of the character's thoughts on it, if that makes any sense.
There are some storylines I'll run a character through and alter the responses or conclusions in my mind to better suit the character, if there are parts that don't fit them well, also giving me a different perspective on a particular arc.
Hope that answers your question! -
Well my main account will stay VIP, but I just bought Going Rogue for a second account I'd cancelled long ago, in preperation for Freedom, so I guess if you're asking me if I'm going VIP or Premium... I would have to say yes.
And having me want to go out and purchase Going Rogue for a previously cancelled account, it's pretty obvious that Freedom is paying off for them already. -
Thinking about it, I'm surprised at how many 50's I have
Anyway, most of them have their Alphas unlocked, if not slotted (just did the missions)
I have difficulty making time for the trials, and even when I have time sometimes I just am not in the mood for the wait and hassles that are often involved in getting into one.
Basically, even though I know what I would like to get for a lot of my alts, I don't even have my main hero or villain completely t-4'rd out yet -
Quote:The most consistent of ambush targeting I've seen (anecdotally of course) is the one who's closest to the inital ambush. A bane to my stalkers, and ranged folks if they come in from behind- They're more inclined to attack the first target they run across over any other. That incudes Stalkers hanging back for an opportunity (since ambushes apparently ignore Hide, Stealth or anything else) or waiting for hide to kick back in.Honestly, I think it's one of two things either confirmation bias or alternatively you're moving onto another group before the ambush arrives causing them to target the thermal character since the other characters are at the aggro cap.
I've teamed a lot and never seen any consistent targeting of ambushes.
From what I can tell, it's a matter of convenience over pattern. Attacking my Corrupter or Dom from behind, I can understand. Ignoring my MM's pets to attack my MM, I can almost forgive. I just really hate that they completely ignore Hide on Stalkers or stealth power in general on any characters. -
I have a Demon/Therm MM that actually has the Presence pool. I designed him speficially to play different from my Bots/Dark whose solo strategy is to TP team into the middle of groups and let the pets go while I DeBuff/keep healed- or in teams to DeBuff and aggro with pets. I wanted to take full advantage of the Follow>Defensive Protocals on pets and get all the aggro while my pets tore things up. My Bots/Dark is 50, while the Dem/Therm is in the 20's currently.
Converse to your information, he doesn't hold aggro well against a Brute with or without taunt (though it's always had a damage aura) which means unless I flag the pets to attack a target, they don't do much (Defensive pets tend to only attack targets that attack you or them). This won't be a problem as a lot of things have AoE's later but...
It's kinda frustrating, as I built him to start with a Taunt to get the pets going while they attacked me, and keep them healed while I took a minimal ammount of damage (Yes I plan to get the Fighting Pool and other damage mitigating powers as part of the build). This works okay when soloing but converse to your data I have a hard time keeping aggro even with the Pool Taunt in teams; particulary those with something that either can Taunt or has an aggro aura. Your Wi flag could actualy explain that, assuming I had a low initial rating, so I don't know if this can help confirm or refute your collected data.
If there's any GM's or Dev's looking into this, my character's Hellion Hound on Champion Server if that makes any difference. I hope it helps! -
Quote:I love this idea and hope you're right. I really, really, REALLY miss the old CoH comic.I hadn't thought of it this way, "a monthly comic book that we can play". But yeah, it seems like maybe they're aiming for that, considering the new multi-loading screen technology that will allow us to flip through several "pages". I also seem to remember in one of the recent interviews, it was mentioned that this would get more use than just in the new Galaxy City tutorial.
I just hope they get added to Oroborous (even if as some kind of unlockable because we ran it before content, or something) because I dig going back and re-reading stories when they're finished to see how they unfold from beginning to end. I do that with my comics and if this is the new version of they CoH comic, I will want to do that here too.
I still wish they made them as comics, because I really felt a connection between the lore, the source material, and the game through it. However this might be something that could bridge the gap if done well.
Looking forward to it!
(even though I didn't get any such e-mails)

Quote:That's a very good point, and one I'd almost forgotten. I'll admit, I lurk more on these boards than post, and walk away from them when the drama gets too thick. I'm sure you have more prominent memories of it more than I. As to any arguments regarding what CoV needs, I have some opinions but this is not the thread to do it in. However, it does have relevance in the face of F2P vs Premium vs. Subscribing, and may give the Dev's a compass on some things to avoid.I was there, as well, and the split in the playerbase was far larger than you make it out to be. Sure, most of the existing City of Heroes players bought City of Villains. We were already paying $15 a month for the thing, why would we not get the first expansion in what must have been 18 months at the time. The inverse, however, is not universally true. Of the people who got into the game with City of Villains, not nearly as many actually bought City of Heroes. In fact, City of Villains got its own forums, full of bitter, angry souls who insisted that City of Villains was a separate game and should be getting separate content and swearing up and down that they would never play City of Heroes if you paid them and that people who played City of Heroes were alternately spoiled brats or trolls who went to "their" boards just to taunt them and all sort of hyperbole like that.
This severe, significant split in the community is easy to remember now, simply because when Jack Emmert sold out, NCsoft gave all existing subscribers both City of Heroes and City of Villains for free, so everyone now has both regardless. We're a single community which plays, or at least appreciates both sides NOW. But I've lost count of how many times people tried to insult me with derogatory derivatives of "hero" and how many times I had to try to convince people that no, really, I honestly do play both heroes and villains. And this never seemed to sink in with people, because they only had either CoH or CoV, sour grapes caused them to become radicalised for their own side and against the other and many stupid arguments were had over which is better.
Even to this day, as a point of fact, you'll see people complaining that "devs hate villains" and that villain-side needs more content and more zones (which it does) and that co-op content is just hero-themed content that villains are allowed to participate in it if they don't mind acting as heroes. Hell, I'm one of the people making those complaints, because villain-side right now isn't even half the "size" of hero-side, and what it needs is villain-specific content, not co-op content. But, at least, now that everyone owns both games, we've been handling these kinds of discussions with much less vitriol.
Quote:Originally Posted by Samuel_TowUnfortunately - and this is my biggest concerns - that can't happen. If Free players "enjoy" the same restrictions as Trial players do now, that means they can't communicate with each other via tells and they can't invite each other to teams. The only way, realistically speaking, that Free players are going to be part of the community and not just part of the 50 feet of game space immediately around their in-game character is through the proxy of Premium and VIP players who can invite them and speak for them.
Now, I'm not advocating that we open the flood gates and just throw the whole game at everyone for free, obviously. But I want to see Free players have the ability to at least communicate and team with each other. This has to happen if we want them to stick together. The ability to form teams is not a good thing to sell for real money.
After all, they tout the game hasn't changed to take IO's into effect, if players don't need them to play with everyone, they don't have to have them (see my previous suggestions for more details). Let the F2P have SO's as their strongest enhancement choice. Let them participate in Hami raids if they want, but they can't get (or slot) Hami-O's either. The content's available for those who want to play with their friends or enjoy that type of play, but there's a real incentive to subscribe if you enjoy that type of play often enough. Giving them access to it without the reward lets them try it out, and encourages subscribing if they like it and decide it's worth the reward.
Just my 2 cents anyway. -
Quote:Thanks for the complimentWhile I like your idea from a conceptual perspective, it just would not work in gameplay terms. The reason for this is because you're saying 'losing', and 'being in jeopardy of losing' are essentially the same thing. That just cannot work - the obvious reason is that having 'losing' and 'being in jeopardy of losing' as synonyms is circular from a definitive point of view. (How can being in jeopardy of something be the same as the very thing you're in jeopardy of?) But the less obvious reason is that you're assuming several things: That the player 'running' is doing so to evade defeat, as oppose to luring an overconfident opponent into a trap. That the opponent 'running' is going to help a friend who is in more trouble. That the opponent 'running' is attempting to dictate the pace of the battle...and has no intention of breaking combat with you. All of these things are indicative of the danger of implicating a system that tells players why they are doing things. Put simply: you don't know the motivations of other players and it would be inappropriate to dictate them to them this way.
Also - where do you draw the line in determining pseudo-defeat? How far do they have to run? How much health do they have to lose before they're in jeopardy of losing?
I think the current system - of defeats counting as defeats and nothing else - is much better in that regard. It just makes more sense that you only truly defeat someone when you defeat someone. And while I like your idea for conceptual reasons, the whole "i'll be back!" thing from comics can easily be replicated by respawns/the hospital.
Interesting chat. Sorry I missed it before.
No, I agree with the system being unable to objectively gauge that in current PvP, which is why I advocate for more 'objective based' PvP, like the scenario I suggested, that can take that into account. 'Straight-forward' PvP is fine, but I think that, with it currently being all there is, isn't enough in my opinion. Super hero/villain conflicts need to be both dynamic and reflect the nature of the genre.
If Castle and co. focused on how to package PvP, instead of just changing how it worked (though having the ability to seperate between PvP and PvE system wise was a worthwhile endeavour) I think there'd be more attention being paid to it now, by players and Dev's alike. -
I don't think the fundamental views expressed here are different. F2p folks should get reduced/less access, However, short of the unique monthly arcs (which I think are a neat idea) I'd rather restrict different kinds of content from them than what they can participate in.
I would prefer suggestions like:
F2p don't get IO drops, nor can they use IO's. Premium will never see a purple/PvP drop without paying for it. Same applies to IO salvage. F2P can't use the market, though Premium can so they can buy the salvage to build their non-purple/PvP drops; but only paying customers get salvage. If they don't want to buy the salvage, or have friends give it to them, that's okay, they can sell the recipes
AE tickets for F2P and Premium can buy DO's, SO's, the Payoff Badge, and... that's it. Oh, and they can't make arcs, only play them.
Regular, Hero, and Villain merits are for paying customers only. F2P gets no reward table at the end of a TF (though they get the xp they earned, a nifty badge, and an accolade with a boost if they do them all!) Premium can get the old IO drop chance table we used to get.
The Incarnate system is for paying customers only, there are no incarnates in the F2P and Premium zones... However they can run the trials for other prizes/goodies- use similar rules to the merits above.
Let them play and do everything, but lower the rewards. If folks just want to play and don't care about the rest, then great!; but some F2P sees what the Incarnate system is about (many probably trying this game coming from end-game-raid style games) and enjoying doing them might want to pony up the Sub for the extra power. However, without the chance to experience it, they may never bother.
I'm perfectly okay with F2P folks living off SO's (without availability for IO's) and Premium the kindness of their friends for much of the goodies they can access with no ability to be an incarnate. This may drive up market prices on some salvage drops, or even drive them down (why not give paying subscribers a way to buy common IO's in AE like everything else?)
Locking them out of rewards but giving them access will still have them playing content with everyone else, making them hungry for the 'good stuff'.
The only argument I could see against Incarnate stuff is the lack of level shifts to do the trials with (maybe they could buy those without getting any of the other benefits... per character... hmmm) See where I'm going?
Edit- I could see it getting as fundamental as no enhancement drops (have to buy from vendors and contacts for F2P, though Premium gets drops) and F2P can only buy inspirations from vendors, though Premium can get small inspiration drops. -
I'm with you. As a generally lurker/soloer when not running with my SG (try to be more social from time to time- like lately LOL) I liked Galaxy. It was quiet-activity wise, well designed, and as you pointed out overall, pretty. I think that'll make its destruction all the more profound.
I thought the Phalanx set up shop in FC's headquarters too at one point? Maybe that justifies the move to Fort Trident?
What I'll miss most about Galaxy is the park. All of it. When I was first leveling up Lyc in the 'good ol' days' I spent time with a couple future friends (and one a future SG mate) roaming around it and leveling up before heading into Kings Row. It wasn't that I didn't want to try the missions. I was just having fun talking to them about stuff while fighting baddies in the park. We were all relatively new to the game. Heck, at the moment I'm not sure I knew the distinction between street sweeping and missions back then, really (This was my first MMO).
I had no clue which was the better zone to pick when I talked to Coyote (and before I knew who he was and his history) so I just picked one... happened to be Galaxy. The quiet from lack of other players didn't bother me because I didn't know what to expect anyway. Probably for the best because I was already overwhelmed with the scope of the world. I was afraid I'd miss something, and everything seemed so big and anything was possible... The music from Freedom Corps. HQ started up and I got a chill. It sounded really heroic. Still one of my favorite starting songs in game (in Galaxy or Atlas, makes no difference).
Still haven't forgotten that first experience really... I think I'm going to have to make a new character heroside and run it through the tutorial and go to Galaxy one last time before the change... -
Quote:I feel at least partially responsible for this thread so I'll rebuttal. I was there, and it wasn't a huge split of the playerbase. There were a few that didn't get it, sure. I had only one SG mate that didn't get CoV for personal concept reasons and didn't explore that content until it was made free. That player, and I say this as one of my SG mates and a friend, was an outlier individual based on all I saw on the forums and in the various global channels I'm a member of. Just about everyone that was subbed to CoH, got CoV. From reasons ranging to supporting the system to thank goodness we could finally play the other side, they were there. CoV hoped to get new customers, but really we're a niche market, and they already won most of us over. Few who were subscribers to CoH didn't get CoV. Eventually it was combined as part of the whole system and became a moot point. I imagine Going Rogue will be the same when there's enough other Paragon Point stuff to make that a profitable move on the Dev's part, or at least make it an option on the Paragon Market, if it isn't already at launch.Admittedly, I was not around when that happened, (I did not start playing until about a month after Issue 9 went live, and the two games had been conjoined). But you raise a very good point, one that may debunk my argument already (Oh no! haha). I imagine it would have been a similar situation, leaving a lot of players feeling that they were missing out on opportunities by not having purchased CoV which, in turn, compels them to buy CoV. That is, after all, the end goal of this new business model: to leave players wanting all the stuff, compelling them to fork over the dough.
Yeah...wow, I honestly don't think I have a worthwhile rebuttal for that. While I still wish it were different and Free players had a chance to visit Praetoria, I suppose I would have felt the same back when CoV was originally released.
The big point that Winterminal is bringing up is the endgame, and one I really have strong feelings about. Why keep players who potentially want to be involved in a system that benefits from the most people being involved in it, out?
From that, I mean the Trials. NO, I don't mean the Incarnate system.
Give them other rewards if need be, locking Incarnate powers, Astrals, Imperials, etc. away from them entirely if need be, but why keep them from accessing a system that benefits the most the more people want to be involved in it?
That's assuming they have enough incentive to reach 50 to not be able to explore it...
To a lesser, but not in a less concerned way, one can count Praetoria and the new zone associated. If vet players are coming up with new characters to run through it, who are these, yet unknown and uncounted f2p folks going to team with (key word being uncounted)? With a lack of ability to communicate, and veterans most likely running off as soon as they can to play shiny new content they can't even access to communicate with them in... well you see the point of concern. Remember, f2p members don't get access to global channels to know there's activity in zones they can't reach, not that it would make them happy to know if they could. We can only assume there'll be a ton of new f2p members to help them in their journey.
Yes, I can say with confidence there will be Veterans who will go out of their way to make the new f2p members at home. Our community is really great like that. However, how many will that be when there's new shiny stuff compelling us to do something that leaves them out of the picture entirely? How many are going to join as f2p, or even return as Premium, that will want to explore the new low level content with PuG's? I imagine most Premium will be returning to play with old friends... oh wait, they're probably going to be doing something they can't even access unless they're just Premium too... Sure that might get a few more to pay eventually to see what all the new stuff is about but...]
Like Winterminal, I'm not doomcrying. I honestly think Freedom will be one of the best things to happen to the game if it's handled properly. I know a couple of friends that will be back (hopefully one of them being the one I mentioned before) I will share my time with them as best I can along with the members of my SG that still continue to play and will want to explore this new, unaccessable to others content.
In the meantime, I'll express my concern about how that may effect the communities we have, and may gain/lose with the changes coming.
If they've considered them consciously and are taking the risk, I'm spitting in the wind. However, if they see what I say and go "we should consider that" I've achieved my goals, whether they use it or not.
I'm still here after close to 7 years, so I guess that says something about my trust in them. -
Quote:It was about the money. Shout! Factory had already done the digital re-mastering and cleaning, had box art and was near ready to release. There were two music artists (that have been left unnamed) that were still in negotiations that wanted more than Shout! Factory could (or would) afford to pay them for their rights to the songs in the shows. After months of negotiation, it fell through and they had to scrap the whole thing. Is that why it's never been released?
Geez, I loved that show back in the day. It was The Fugitive meets Bill Bixby's Incredible Hulk with fur and fangs and damned enjoyable to watch, too.
Which songs were causing the problems and was it solely a monetary dispute or something else on top of that?
Back when the show was made, there was no audio layering, so the tracks could not be removed. Worse, the artist's tracks were apparently either too numerous or at key points in the story that removing the scenes entirely would wreck the overall work.
It's a damn shame. It's among one of my most favorite TV series' ever. I have copies I bought off Ebay forever ago that were VCR tapes of the show converted to disk. The quality goes from good to meh from show to show, but at least I still get to see it. I'd have bought the nice, re-mastered set with the really nice box art it had the day it came out.
And still will if it ever happens. -
Quote:This is worth its own post. I agree completely. I've LOVED everything I've read of his so far. His work does a great job of putting the human in Superhuman. My appeal to Doctor Hickman was that he has worked within the CoH lore and created compelling, enjoyable and dare I say it, INSPIRING fiction using the cast that he was handed. With some subtle changes in emphasis, Troy had Statesman, usually depicted as a ham-handed dictator, cast in a favorable and even sympathetic light.
Dr. Hickman is amazing, and he could cure the Well/Incarnate business, sick as it currently is. I wish the Devs would make it so and bring him on board again. And pay him lavishly to save this. But I suppose that while I am wishing, I ought to toss world peace in there, too...
I really think if they hired him, gave him THE BOOK of City of ***, let him read it, then let him go nuts with the lore and story... I think he'd do an awesome job with it. Pants or no. -
Quote:I do not see how one could come to another conclusion, given the lore and the common English understanding of "Incarnate."
1) Statesman has been held out as "The Incarnate of Zeus" ALL ALONG, lightning bolts and all, not "The Incarnate of the Well" or some other generalized concept. Zeus was specified. The Well now is "incarnating" others, but there are no gods involved?Quote:SOMEBODY is getting "put into human flesh" when you become an Incarnate, and it is not the same deal as a Kheldian. If the Devs did not mean what "incarnate" means, they should have called it something different. As it stands, it is the equivalent of using the word "diseased" and insisting it means "happy" or something. Put another way, the parrot is DEAD, he is NOT "pining for the fjords!"
Quote:Originally Posted by SlickRiptideYour hero's first introduction to the Well involves said entity possessing Statesman and rendering him into a helpless sock puppet for the purposes of conversation. However, that being the case, I really don't expect the Dev's to pull a 'bait and switch' with us, having Hami-O's count against us when dealing with the DE here or in Praetoria, or allowing the Well to do something terrible to us because we are gaining its power (well maybe as part of a short storyline, but nothing permanent). That would be a horrible thing to do to the playerbase, and an even worse business move. They're just a typical MMO ways of rewarding players that they tried to fit into the story.
But yeah... -
Quote:Sure there's some doomcrying, but there are others, like myself, who are just expressing concern over things being handled well. History has shown us that the Dev's do care, and try and make us happy. However, it also has shown them to jump headlong into something that makes a lot of folks unhappy, but they're so far along in it they can't (or won't-probably for budget/time constraint reasons) turn back. Stating concerns and misgivings as early as possible helps mitigate that, or, at least I hope it does. It has in the past.Well, how about the bulk of content you mentioned?
Seriously, what is it with you doomsayers that no matter what the devs announce you always treat it like the end of the friggin world?
Each month you get five bucks of content for free and you can even decide which content it is in contrast to how it´s now, where you often get power sets you´d probably never look at. Had I had the choice then it would´ve been like no Plant or Illusion controll for me but instead a few more costume pieces and s**t.
Now, is it really impossible for you to at least once be happy with the devs´ decissions? You know, instead of these constant DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM cries.
I'm happy with a lot of the decisions the Dev's make for this game, even some I didn't agree with originally but in retrospect have found to be good changes overall. However, there are quite a few that I think if they listened or if valid arguments didn't get lost in the noise to signal ratio, some things could have been handled better, or averted before they became problems.
Saying nothing, especially in the conception/first announcment stages, is the worst thing we can do. Not just for us, but for the game at large. The best thing that can happen, they listen and something that suits/benefits/profits if not everyone at least most of the playerbase is reached. Worst case, they ignore us and do what they want anyway.
So we at least try. Don't look at all of it as doomcalling, just expressing concerns. -
I've heard good reviews about it, but don't have cable. It probably won't last long, but I'll pick up the seasons on DvD when they become available. I have an extensive collection of werewolf movies/shows... most of them _really_ bad, so I'd be remiss if I didn't get them.
EDIT: I'm still upset that the Werewolf TV series didn't make it to DvD because of a dispute over a couple of the songs in it. -
Thanks for hosting it Steel. I missed last year's and was happy to make it to this one!

Quote:And that pretty much sums up the ill-will and resentment I'm concerned about when it comes to selling powersets. If they charge VIP members for these new powersets... Members that are ALREADY paying a regular monthly sub and probably have been for years, I doubt they'll stay VIP members for long.
I know I sure as hell won't. Booster packs are enough, but paying extra for powerset when I'm already paying? Get stuffed!
EDIT: However, don't forget they're giving subscribing customers 400 'Paragon Points' per month. So if the powerset costs, say, 400 or less, you can get it as soon as it comes out and technically it's "free" as part of your subscription. The distinction only lay in that you have to click a button for it instead of just having it loaded into the game waiting for you.
