With last patch, there was a 'scream' sound effect added to all powers that have the 'pushing head forwards' animation. It's presumably a bug and will be fixed at a future date.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I certainly hope so. Created a new defender using natty laser beams from his eyes. Not my favourite power but it's even worse with that horrendous screech.
  2. *sigh* another one bites the dust.

Hope you find what you're looking for out there. We'll still be here to welcome you back if you change your mind

    Blasters are...

    [ QUOTE ]
good blasters will kill most things faster than most other ATsexpecially in smaller spawns and lower levels.

true what is said bout iam and BU, they are what makes blasters better DDs than scrappers, no point making a blaster as a DD if you dont take these pwoers imo.

    [/ QUOTE ]

AR/Dev blasters don't get to choose either of those. They get a targetting drone which affects damage not at all and er...that's it.

    WHAT'S THIS

    [ QUOTE ]
Bout time scrappers got the nerfbat!

    [/ QUOTE ]

lol I hope not. Might as well just reduce the game to 1 AT with 1 power, that's the way we'll be heading if this drive to 'balance' keeps on the way it is ...
  5. [ QUOTE ]
Not far off being able to Eden either.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If they ever fix it. Last time we tried it was impossible to get the mission started. Team got disbanded the moment we spoke to the contact. Bit disappointing after spending all the time preparing for the TF.
  6. Was fun, thanks for organising it

    Blaster Nukes?

    Mine's an AR/Devices blaster.

Don't get build up, don't get aim so have to make do with an ED nerfed drone. Don't have a nova, closest thing is a mine which does a bit of damage but takes a week to lay during which time you can be interrupted by a sparrow farting in the next room.

Closest other thing is full auto which again, since ED, has been largely worthless except as an aggro magnet or for finishing off a few mobs. Can be useful with flamethrower but I wouldn't create a new AR/Devices blaster. It was slotting full damage that made it useful. Now that's no longer worthwhile it's a grind-em-down-slowly AT. That's no fun, for me anyway.

I tried a fire/fire blaster and a fire/ice blaster but the endurance drain was too high for me and I got bored with standing around. Have no experience of aim at all but its something I wish my blaster had
  8. Off to icon then, all my characters are going to need really dark shades...can't stand the brightness of pink.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm a repressed goth
  9. [ QUOTE ]
I'm confused. If you can't get big teams you are only facing small spawns and PBs have no problems against small groups.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Unless they're hydra in the abandoned sewer network. Those things are *such* a pain. Every attack suppresses fly so you can't use nova form, at all, ever. And to make it worse, they come in huge groups and boy are they tough to put down.

I'll need to get a team together for my pain in the neck abandoned sewer mission just to get past the hydra. Actually a team of two will do, just need someone who can actually cope with those blobs. I'll have no problem at all with the rikti that I'm supposed to be going after - just can't reach them.

Can't even sneak past the things, I created a stealthless build
  10. [ QUOTE ]
Can you clean up Boomtown when you've finished, Coin. It's been left in an awful state!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'll put forward a tender to rebuild the zone at zero cost in record time.

Of course costs and time are dependent on what we find when we actually start work and may change while work is in progress. I assume the tax paying citizens of that zone will be footing any bill that's presented so there'll be no argument over any unforeseen costs in the future...
  11. Pah, they don't need to break out. They have packs of lawyers springing them the moment they get inside.

y = why or yes, depending on context.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That one is so annoying, you often have no idea if the person is saying 'yes' or 'why', only they seem to know the context. People need to remember that the rest of us can't read their minds. Can't see the point of shortening a 3 letter word anyway - I've seen this one a few times but it's cmopletely unnecessary and can be very confusing

    hehe thanks

I celebrated with a visit to Pocket D and got stuck in the lift...got a new hit list now - lift engineers...

    Group Fly.

    [ QUOTE ]
I did have group fly but dropped when I respeced. I found that I would use it on my bots who would manage to keep up with me for about 10 seconds before dropping out of the sky aggroing everything.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Only way to get that to work was to mark a point on the map (or another team member or enemy) and tell your pets to go to it then set yourself to follow your pets. A pain in the neck really.

  18. They do a decent amount of damage when they actually do bother to attack something. I use them as just another attack in the chain when they're available but you have to be at point blank range. For such an inaccurate attack they have a remarkably long recharge time though and there nearly always seems to be at least one left hanging around doing nothing.

I agree, they could be better but they're not useless by any means
  19. [ QUOTE ]
hmm crashes? disconnects? where? when? damn i miss out on all the good stuff

    [/ QUOTE ]

Lucky you. You're a rare bird if you can stay online for more than a couple of hours without mapserver errors or crashes. Feels like a huge memory leak in the game since this last patch went live. Hopefully it'll be fixed soon.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
However as of today, this patch has been deemed as a more pressing need.......

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sounds sort of familiar...I seem to remember, not so long ago, they panicked and rushed through a patch to cure a game destroying bug that awarded players a little more exp than they should have received. Never mind the bugs that ruined gameplay for the paying customers though (which we still have to put up with), they obviously weren't deemed important enough
  21. [ QUOTE ]
I came back after a long time of being un-subscribed and it seems that there is hardly anyone online anymore

Where is everyone? Have most moved to a certain server or all playing CoH again? Or did they just quit?

Finding a team is almost as hard as finding one in WoW in off-peak hours :P

    [/ QUOTE ]

Issue 7 went live a few days ago and it's horrendous on there. Crashes every couple of hours, mapserver disconnects all over the place. Spawn sizes all over the shop and in stupid places.

Having said that, it's great fun. We now have mayhem missions where you can just go wild destroying things all over the place. Level 40-50 content added so we can start levelling again. A new PvP zone covering characters up to lvl 50.

Just like any other major release, there's good and bad. I think the good far outweighs the bad but it's still infuriatingly unstable
  22. hehe those pesky blasters

Funny thing is, my first blaster was ar/dev. That assault rifle doesn't lend itself to spamming the room with AoE attacks at low levels so I learned to play as a more cautious blaster, more team orientated perhaps. Since creating a fire/ice blaster, I find that my most effective attacks are AoE's which is exactly what a team doesn't want. It's not easy to get a blaster to not use their most effective attacks

As for the tanks...many are called but few are chosen. There are LOTS of tanks out there, not that many really good ones. I made a tank once, didn't suit my style of play at all so I was hopeless at it. Promptly deleted to make room for more damage dealing.

We've all had experiences of bad teams, makes us appreciate the good ones a little more Don't let a few bad runs with pick up teams ruin the game for you though.

There are many more good team players than there are bad ones in my experience, the only problem being they tend to stick together and it's not always easy prising them apart to get into a team unless they know you so when you do find some, get them on your global friends list.

Maybe consider joining a supergroup - there are some very good supergroups as well as some pretty hopeless ones, luckily you can leave a sg and find another if you decide you don't fit in.

Anyway, it's all about fun. If people do silly things and die then start blaming you for their deaths (such is the life of a defender), just leave them to it. There's no point staying with a team like that, unless you're having fun watching them die of course
  23. Yes, many congrats.

    So what's next?
  24. LunaWisp

    Empath Defenders

Empaths do have one advantage over other 'healing' sets at low level in that their heals never miss. Better a small heal in the nick of time than a large one that misses when it's needed.

I like dark defenders with their debuffs myself but I could never get used to seeing that dreaded word 'miss' float up the screen at the worse possible moment.
  25. I play my PB in whatever form I think is best for the particular situation she's in. She's tri-form at the moment which gives 4 forms (if you include light form ) tremendous flexibility but not really that powerful in any of them.

Choosing between nova/dwarf/human for any particular fight isn't as clear cut as you might think. The Kheldian may have spotted a void stalker who can take it out with one or two hits. Deciding which form(s) to use to defeat the void stalker depends on the team as much as anything else. Only experience with the AT can really help with those decisions. I don't have serious problems with voids now, unless they con purple (or red if they're a boss) but at lower levels they were a nightmare.

An entire mission in dwarf form sounds very odd though, a very slow way to level but if he was pulling his weight I can't see a major problem. He may have found the squishiness of nova and human forms a bit of a debt magnet. To be honest, as long as everyone is having fun I'm not really bothered how others are playing their characters, as long as they're not standing at the entrance leeching of course...that's a big no no.
