Quote:Eurisko is actually the perfect example of an entity that only wants to win, and is willing to destroy any semblance of gamesmanship to do it. Eurisko is digital pun-pun. Its worth noting that Eurisko wasn't particularly innovative, it was pure cold evil in its decision making that would bring a smile to any real min/maxer. In its first outing in TCS it spent all trillion credits on a gigantic fleet of the tiniest ships it could make with nothing but guns; not even engines. To win, its human opponents had to engage him because his fleet couldn't move, and when they did their own weapons were overkill against his unarmored fleet. But because he often outnumbered his opponents a hundred to one, he ultimately blasted them to pieces with sheer numbers. Today, we'd just call that stationary zerging.
Its second outing proved its real evil genius. The TCS rules were changed so you had to be able to move: in addition you got bonuses for the average ability for your fleet to move. So Eurisko created ships with the minimum propulsion possible, and then during the game it self-destructed any ship that was hit to eliminate a damaged ship from the fleet, maintaining its high agility bonus. When you still outnumber your enemy ten to one, you can blow up your own ships to game the rules.
It was *that* maneuver that caused the tournament to ban Eurisko (or rather: threaten to cancel if Eurisko entered). The problem was that people were entering real fleets that might reasonably exist in the Traveller universe, and Eurisko could care less. Could they have made TCS balanced enough for Eurisko? Probably only by sucking the life out of the game to the point only computers would want to play it.
But what Eurisko did is nothing more than what min/maxers have done throughout the history of gaming: shredded rules intended to be used to make an entertaining game, not to be beaten. The response in *every* gaming system to such people who were willing to burn the game to beat it has been the same: ban them.
For humans, its not usually enough to win. You have to win in a way that people will invite you back to play again. But Eurisko just really didn't care. It wasn't programmed to win graciously. And that same distinction is evident in the difference between how most people play PnP games with other people, and how they play computer games against the computer.
When you said the Bolded part my mind went straight to card counters and black jack. Funny how that works eh always banning the people that can walk around the rules without actually breaking them. -
You know that really confused me cause when her and Sookie are driving away Sookie doesn't even mention it. You think she would be like wtf why did you tell her I was back there.

Hello everyone. Since the trailer for this TV show is graphic in nature, it is not in line with the T for Teen rating of the City of Heroes Forums. You may discuss the show here, but please avoid any links to the trailer.
Thank you!

I have wanted this ever since I heard demon MM was getting whips, it's just makes perfect sense for an assault set for doms. I too would be willing to pay cold hard cash for this, hear that devs Make it so!

Quote:I've been on this game since 07 and I've STILL never found a way to completely control my end consuming characters. I've tried picking up set bonuses that added to your recovery yet I've had character get sucked dry after a few moments.
I pvp tank I have has not only stamina but the willpower stamina plus a couple bonuses and still gets drained quickly. I'm just looking for tips.
you sure some therms just don't have a hard on for ya?lol
Do you have the same problems for pve or is it just pvp? -
Defianlty a problem my man, we lost like 4 people on a 16 man baf yesterday and the adds starting wiping us out. Luckily we re organized our selves and won. Usually when that many people drop they return shortly not the case recently.
Oh and the league leader was kicked go figure I talked to him in pocket d afterwards. Messed up stuff I really really hope they fix this soon. -
I don't join the horde runs much anymore cause my schedule is kinda unpredictable but on my crab I have double assault, venom grenade and arctic breath from the epic. Plus I have the achilles heel proc in 1 of my only 2 single target attacks and my most frequent aoe suppression plus the -10res from the incarnate stuff witch is unremarkably easy to keep up with 6 pets, 8 when the lore pets are summoned you do the math.
I'm gonna try to find time for next mondays horde run and sign up see ya guys there hopefully. -

Honestly though I kinda envy these people, I just hope for their sake they have a pancake ton of guns and ammo and RPGs and well their own small army.

Quote:Wow you guys are fast. Thanks for all the pointers I am going to look into server channels and figure out how to join them. I have one last question I think. I made a claws/elec brute the other night to try out and I enjoyed it, then I found myself on my tanker grouping with brutes in Atlas city. So my question is how do villains end up grouping with Heroes and vice verse and how do you get from villain areas to hero areas? Is that part of the "Going Rogue" Expansion?
If you haven't bought the Going Rogue expansion yet honestly you be best to hold off till i21 hits, their giving it to all VIP(subscribers)free. Unless you don't care or already bought it just throwing that out there and i21 is in open beta so the wait probably aint to long. -
ya it's a bug I've seen a screen shot of a sg window of a person that was logged off longer then the game existed. If none of your stuff is gone I wouldn't pay it to much mind.

so far I've unlocked warwoks, clockworks and rularuu. Rularuu owns the eyeball he has what I would like to call something similar to throw spines. Superb aoe and in regular missions I lock everything down with my dom and I sweat the eyeball nukes the groups cause the whole group dies like 10x faster with the rularuu pets out.

Quote:Actually there is more then you think MMOs that only sell stuff for certain periods of time or renting it if you will that you most certainly can not buy permanently. It's not uncommon.I get his point. I nother F2P hybrid MMO's you 'buy' content and that is it, you have it forever. The current version of Freedom that doesn't happen.
You can't buy access to the AE, you can only rent that access for a month, which is kinda BS.
Don't even get me started on the whole paragon points for a subscriber not covering content that we used to get for free issue either.
I wanna also ask whoever this is making upset OP I guess anyone else too, do you get mad or upset with your cable or internet provider that you can't just pay one lump sum and have all the channels or access you want forever? Some things it's just not worth it in the long run to sell like that and I certainly understand Paragon Studios stance on the matter.
