Whip: Scrapper, Blaster, Stalker, Corrupter. . .
id like it, but you do remember that castle said that getting what they did was prohibitively resource heavy , making the whip animations. but if they can do it, id love it, maybe an assault set too, whips would be..thematic for doms.

IF it came out, I'd expect it (obviously) post-Freedom, and as a "premium" (IE, everyone pays, including VIP) power set, just due to the work we've been told would be involved.
To me whip only makes sense as a Dom Assault Set. Or perhaps a Blaster Secondary support. But by the nature of the whip being partially ranged and melee it lends very well to being ported to a Dom assault.
Also...doms should have whips? No?
Others have asked for it as a Scrapper/Brute set as well. Range/AOE heavy? See also Spines. I'm not sure how they'd work it out, but no, I wouldn't see it as "only" a Dom set.
(On the other hand, no, I don't see it being ported to Stalkers if it were a Scrapper/Brute set. That just seems silly.)
For Dominators it does make more sense thematically speaking. But I can see it working for Stalkers just as well as for Scrappers and Brutes. Some of the animations already exist, so it would make sense that adding enough new animations to fill out the rest of the set would be less effort than starting from scratch. . .
Wasn't Street Justice for Scrappers, Brutes & Stalkers? (I had an SJ Stalker in the Beta)

And I agree it would probably end up being a Dom-style "assault" set, and I am totally fine with that too.
I have wanted this ever since I heard demon MM was getting whips, it's just makes perfect sense for an assault set for doms. I too would be willing to pay cold hard cash for this, hear that devs Make it so!
So what kind of powers would be available?
Damage types?
I know not everyone's a fan of 'Swap Ammo' but I think if it was just a Smashing Damage with various minor secondary effects set, it could get dull, fast. So something similar (but not the same) as Swap Ammo might be a possibility.
The following powers are numbered to what I could think of, off hand. They are not Tier 1-9 as I would see them.
E.g.
1. Crack - ST, ranged, moderate smashing damage, chance for -resist
ANIMATION: a 'whip-crack' animation.
2. Sonic Boom - PBAOE, +Def, Disorient (possibly minor smashing DoT/just plain smashing damage?)
ANIMATION: A whirl around the head followed by a 'boom'.
3. Electrify - Build-Up style power that adds Energy damage and a chance to stun/end drain
ANIMATION: Build up with lightning flashes
4. Choke Hold - ST, Hold, Moderate Smashing DoT
ANIMATION: Character launches the whip at a target and it 'curls around them' before the effect disappears. Affected enemy is left doing the 'choke' emote
That sort of thing would be gimmicky, but potentially fun for me. Needs more info other than 'I want this set' I feel.
I'd be all for this set, as long as they provide a "non-glowie" option, and it's for melee toons.
I'd definitely want to make an Indiana Jones type character.

i keep asking for whips to be ported to an Epic Pool.
That way, they dont have to make new animations and it can be given to most ATs immediately. You have: 3 whip animations, the Ember Shield Buff power, and any of the Demon's hellfire powers that you can use to complete the "Hellfire Epic Power Pool" set.
C'mon, how easy and [at least immediatley] fulfilling would that be?

Yup, I'm gonna throw it out here in the suggestion forum.
Much like Dual Pistols was put together for all the people who really wanted a 2-gun mojo powerset when the only place it appeared was the thugs MM set, some of us really want the whip powers from Demon Summoning and don't want the demons.
Liberate the whip!
