Didn't see any prior threads but it looks pretty good lots of action ties dividing can't wait.

Hello everyone. Since the trailer for this TV show is graphic in nature, it is not in line with the T for Teen rating of the City of Heroes Forums. You may discuss the show here, but please avoid any links to the trailer.

Thank you!

Damn, doesn't look like they make it to the prison this season.

I so cannot wait for this show to come back! I absolutely love it! Almost as much as I love The Yvonne Strahovski Show! I mean Chuck!

Thanks for sharing and to CPT, who even knows if that will make the cut...we can only hope so. It seems that this show is based on the graphic novel, but theyre not going page for page obviously.

This is what I found online about season 2:

The second season is scheduled to premiere on October 16, 2011 and will feature 13 episodes. At a 2011 Paley Center for Media panel, it was announced that the second season will feature Grimes' group of survivors leaving Atlanta for the countryside, including the Greene family farm, a setting in the comic book series. Filming of season 2 began in June 2011 in the greater Atlanta area.

I'm a little worried about them deviating so much as far as the additional characters and plot changes go. On one hand there's the opportunity to explore things that the comic didn't, but on the other certain elements worked really well in the comic, specifically characterization beats, and if they're just looking to stretch it out they've got to do it without letting the story and characters get stretched too thin.

I wouldn't go as far as saying Darabont was the "guiding creative light" (Kirkman, anyone?), but that still sucks.

Figures.

Well it looks like the chances this show is going to stick closely to the graphic novels just went out the window. I'm probably still going to give the new season a try because who knows they might yet come up with something watchable regardless.

as Kirkman has said many many times.....the Walking Dead comics are NOT canon....I really wish people would get over that fact.....the show would be an absolute borefest if it was page for page out of the comic......you cannot really base a show or movie for that matter exactly as it appears in a comic.....it wont work...especially live action.....animated is another matter...

The fact of the matter is that the show has taken another path already as we saw with the first season.....Shane isnt dead, they ended up at the CDC building in Atlanta (which they never did in the comic...I dont think they have....however I only read up to the prison fiasco).....and the redneck (Merle I think his name was) that was left handcuffed on the roof.....he was never in the comic to begin with.....and folks want to complain about the tv series not getting to the prison...yet? please.....

Yes. It's different. We get that. But it's possible to deviate from the source material while drawing on the strengths of it and quite honestly, beyond the zombie makeup effects, the show hasn't really impressed. What's nice about translations from one medium to another is we often get to explore events and characters more thoroughly, but it's hard to do that when too many throw-away sub-plots and secondary characters are tossed in. I'm all for creative liberties being taken, so long as interesting things actually happen.

then again it was the first season....you really cannot expect them to cram everything that was/is awesome about the comics into a television series in what, 6 episodes? I thought the tv show was a refreshing chnage of pace from the comics and IMO thats a good thing. I mean come on....do you truly want the tv show to become so predictable by following everything in the comics to the letter? That would turn many fans of the comic off the show in a heartbeat.... I suppose what im trying to say is this.....either your going to like the show or you wont....there are simply no two ways about it. Could they have done things a little better? Sure.....Could they have moved the pace along a little faster? Why not....But then it would be too frenetic and that doesnt always make for good viewing......

I'm simply saying they need to use their time a little more wisely, and if that means going back to the source that made the show possible in the first place, it's certainly preferable to burning valuable minutes on weak sub-plots and secondary characters. Shane losing it and getting taken out by Carl makes for a better source of drama than wondering if the redneck king of zombieland is going to get eaten.

What sucks though is that it sounds as if they're looking to trim back on this show, which makes it less likely we'll get to the gated community or see a swarm or they'll be able to afford a prison set/makeover.

For what it's worth I don't care about the specific "source material" behind this TV show. I've never actually even read it myself. But given the general "downer" tone of the article talking about Darabont being fired and the show having filming problems and getting its budget cut don't paint an overall pretty picture about the future of the show. Basically when the indicators start looking bad like this shows don't typically last too much longer.

So no I don't really care about the "canon" of this show and I totally understand the idea that even the best source material often needs to be "adapted" for TV in order to make for a good TV show. But when any show starts giving up the things that apparently made it good so soon into its run I usually don't have too many high hopes for it. *shrugs*

Completely understand peoples frustration with the show....I do....however from what was said after Darabont was let go was that he really didnt have that big of a hand in the day to day operation.....I could be wrong here....too be honest only time will tell.....and season 2 they do get to the farmhouse so.....it appears they are slowly moving in the right direction.....
