Players wanting all this is not the problem. The real problem with the suggestions in this thread is that there's nothing really new about them. People have been suggesting these things for years now. At this point they're probably on the Devs' big "To-Do list" but who knows when or if they'll ever happen. *shrugs*

Fun enough to ignore all the older characters and Roll 15 new characters and 1 all the way to 50+ and I still enjoy Load that character every time.
Well there's a reason I've been playing this game continously for 7 years now and it's -not- because I think it's a bad game.

Still, just because I like this game doesn't mean I'm willing to pretend it doesn't have problems or hasn't made any mistakes. This limited Lore pet situation just happens to be one of the mistakes. *shrugs*

I'm sure I'll ultimately adapt to the limited choice for pets yet AGAIN.
It's just that having to accept this limitation yet AGAIN is getting old.

It's generally accepted that only around 5-10% of the playerbase of this game even reads these forums much less posts to them. So if you extrapolate the numbers out you'd realize that a "vocal minority" here can actually represent a fairly large number of "silent" players who'd probably agree with them if they bothered to post.

Besides let's be honest here: even if you don't mind the limited choices we are getting with the Lore pets would you actually be upset if we had MORE choices to pick from? I didn't think so...

    Technology--Taser
    Magic--Something's Charm(??I forget)

I figure why not, at some high level, get a chance to either max them out to make them stronger, or just replace them with stronger powers to deal more damage? You may add a longer recharge, if you wish. BUT it will be worth the damage, you know? What do you all think of this idea?
The Devs long ago moved away from the idea of making any more Origin unique powers/abilities. I doubt we will ever get anything that would be Origin specific that would ever be more "powerful" than these powers.

Having said that I wouldn't mind seeing these 5 powers "de-linked" from specific origins so that we ourselves can choose which of ANY of them we'd want to use. For instance why can't my Mutant character use Throwing Knives or a Taser just as well as anyone else? Players should have the choice to decide what powers fit their character concepts, not the Devs.

Basically if they allowed these 5 powers to become a new Generic Power Pool open to all characters then maybe your idea of allowing them to become stronger as you gain level might be doable. You could include Brawl into this new pool thus allowing us to have six choices for a Brawl-like minor attack instead of just Brawl by itself.

I actually like most of what's coming in I20. I only get critical about the Lore pets in particular because they are repeating the same mistake with them that they made with the 36 and 48 month Vet pets: Very limited hardwired choices. I cut our Devs plenty of slack when they make NEW mistakes. But when they repeat old ones that they should have known better about years ago then yes, I think they deserve a bit of "constructive feedback" about it. That doesn't seem all that unreasonable to me. *shrugs*

Yeah it'll continue to get harder to work on more than one badger as time goes on. The upcoming Incarnate trial badges in I20 will make it even worse.

Still my second badger has always been set at a much lower priority than my main one. I got the top epic badges (Leader, Immortal, Empath) on her in some cases literally years after I had gotten them on my main. I got Partner on my main badger a few weeks ago but I only just got the Backup badge on my second badger a couple of days ago and have no real drive to "grind" for Partner on her anytime soon.

Basically I'll just continue to "slow gear" my second badger and get them as they come.

And this may not have been officially announced, but I can't really see this not happening eventually.
The only problem is that what you're saying is only "very likely" not "100% gauranteed".

In any event I have a Praetorian that curently has the few badges Primals can't get so I'm now "covered" regardless as far as that goes. I have no real intention of trying to get that Praetorian up to around 1,200 other badges at this point.

Did you actually read what I said? Any Primal badger has access to all badges EXCEPT the five or so that only Praetorians can get. Likewise there are around 6 anniversary badges that Praetorians can never get. Therefore the only way a player can currently have ALL the badges in the game is to have at least one Primal badger and one Praetorian badger. What part of that was hard to understand?

Actually the fact that there's around 5 badges a Praetorian can have that a Primal can't have (and vice-versa) it really only seriously makes sense to have one Primal and one Praetorian badger any more.

I never really followed the "one hero and one villain" badge hunter model because the Devs had be dropping hints that they wanted to give us alignment crossovers even before CoV was released. Of course as we all know it took them like 5+ years to finally do that, but I still always figured it would happen.

So basically I've always only had one main badge character as far as I was concerned. I started getting badges on a few other badgers mostly just to have something else to do during the times I had "finished" my main badger waiting for new badges to be released.

At least Day Job badges are character-based badges and only require trivial amounts of effort to park your characters at certain locations to get them. I'm not saying they were the best idea for badges, but they are almost infinitely better than this metagamey alt-badge idea. *shrugs*

People have been asking for more slots for powers for years.
The Devs finally gave us an answer to that.
It's called the Alpha Incarnate slot.

It's not the Devs' fault that you didn't realize they already gave you what you're asking for. *shrugs*

    *yet

My Dad, however, did lack respect for snipers. He served in World War II, infantry, European theater, and he said that everybody he knew in the war detested snipers, even ones on their own side. The reason was simple -- everyone felt the war itself would be decided by big attacks. Sniping didn't have any measurable effect on the outcome of such events; it just contributed to the day-to-day trickle of deaths, even during "quiet" periods, that embittered both sides, without any chance* of actually determining the war and letting everyone go home.

*unless Hitler stuck his head up, I guess

Hollywood likes snipers too -- I guess it's easier to identify with one individual than with just another helmet hunkered down in a foxhole. And they do have their place, probably moreso in modern "asymmetric" warfare, antiterrorism, and so on. But movies tend to make it seem like one guy with a telescopic sight decides all wars -- not the 25,000 guys hauling artillery shells, or an entire infantry division.
With absolutely no disrespect to your Dad's service or experience I'll have to tell you that in certain instances snipers have had a strategic value in significant battles. The classic WWII example is the Battle of Stalingrad. There was a period of a couple of months where the fighting was so ugly and desperate that just about the only way the Soviets had to keep the Germans from totally taking the city was to keep up the random chaos and demoralization they could cause with snipers. The Soviets at that point couldn't get enough "standard" troops and supplies into the city to fight conventionally so sniping was really all they had to work with to keep fighting. A handful of snipers almost single-handedly kept the Germans from taking the city. This is why movies like Enemy at the Gates get made because despite the over-hyped "Hollywood glamor" of the topic there is some historical significance worth appreciating there.

Ultimately while I would agree that -most- of the time snipers are a non-factor in the overall outcome of wars I think it's a bit naive to discount their historical significance completely.

To get back onto the topic of the game it does seem a bit weird to have so many Snipe IO sets. I have a ranged-oriented Electric Blaster who loves to snipe and has become an expert at pulling with it. I routinely use her to cleanly pull the AVs at the end of the LRSF for instance. But even with that I don't really think we need as many snipe IO sets as we have. *shrugs*

Pretty much ever since those "vanity pets" were released several years ago people have wanted either more choices and/or different choices for them. That's the obvious problem with only having a few hardwired choices to pick from.

For what it's worth for some of those pets fit perfectly for some of my alts concept wise. Unfortunately I have other alts that I've had for years that haven't even picked a vanity pet yet because none of the choices available make any sense for them to have.

It's therefore pretty sad that the Devs decided to go once again for this limitation of choice when it comes to the new Lore Incarnate pets. It's as if they ignored all the complaints they've gotten over the years and decided, once again, to give us a new group of pets that we only have a very limited choice of. At least for you one of those very limited Lore choices will in fact be the MK-VI Victoria clockwork. It won't be a "vanity" pet, but at least it'll be a pet of some kind. Many other people won't be so lucky to get what they want.
  16. The main reason "Plan 9 from Outer Space" is such a cult classic is that it tried so hard to take itself seriously. That, among other obvious reasons, firmly places it at the top of the all-time "it's so bad it's good" list of movies.

A remake of it would be like someone trying to explain an old joke to someone who doesn't get it. I can't hardly think of a more pointless candidate for a remake.
  17. So not only do you want a new set of badges that would be "farmed" just by instantly creating and deleting a bunch of temporary characters (as DarkGob mentioned) but you want them to be a "grindy" account based set of badges that have nothing to do with actually playing a specific character in this game? I don't want to be insulting but I really can't imagine a worse idea for a new type of badge for this game. Account-based badges are bad enough but account-based badges you have to grind to get? Thanks, but no thanks.

I understand you'd like to come up with a way to recognize people who like to play a bunch of alts in the game but this is very much NOT the way to do that.
  18. While I think it's obvious that some powerset combinations benefit greatly from Hasten I think it's almost equally obvious that some combos don't. Also some builds might need Hasten in the low/mid levels but by the time they reach level 50 they have enough other powers/slots that make Hasten unnecessary at that point.

I think with most things you just have to assess whether you need it or not. Basically the idea that "All build must have Hasten" is not really true.

She doesn't have to have the exact same costume (but I'd appreciate it if they tried to keep the important elements to make her recognizable. This costume will be okay if they fix the shininess). She doesn't have to be involved with Steve Trevor.

But this third identity is a BIG change to her as a person. And I'm against that change as much as I'd be against Batman not having Wayne Enterprises.

It's not about my "comfort zone", it's about the integrity of the character. And I'm not trying to stop you from giving it a chance. I'm going to give it a chance.
I'm willing to bet there will be things I won't like about the show either, and that's even if a miracle occurs and it gets like 10 seasons worth of episodes. But I won't really know that for sure until I actually WATCH the show.

Much like my BSG Boomer/Starbuck example there are many shows that sounded like there were going to be terrible elements to them that eventually worked out within their own environments. Will this new show manage the same? Your "expert opinion" on it is as good as my "expert opinion".

If she doesn't need to be "100% static" then why can't Wonder Woman have a "corporate front" that she uses to further her heroic goals? You can't say that you would accept change in a character over time and then turn around and say there are things about them you can't change. Who are you, I or anyone else to lay the ground rules on that?

I understand this new show is "outside your comfort zone" and I myself have never once said that I think what they are doing is 100% guaranteed to work as a new TV show. That's STILL not going to stop me from giving it a chance.

If you rank Wonder Woman on the same level with characters from a 1-season (or 1.5 season if you count Battlestar 1980) ensemble sci-fi from the late 70s, then I think I understand our difference in perspective.

No. That was "Galactica 1980" and most people do their best to pretend that doesn't exist.

The original BSG I'm refering to was the 22 epsiode run that started back in 1978.
David Eick's BSG was the series that ran from 2004-2009.

I'd support seeing if someone could make that idea work before, once again, I -assumed- it was a dumb idea. These characters have been around for 70+ years - why must they be 100% static for every generation?

As case in point at first I thought it was a very weird/dumb idea for the recent Daivd Eick Battlestar Galactica to change the roles of Boomer and Starbuck to females. I had actually watched the original BSG when it first aired and I just thought the whole idea of such a fundamental change was near-blasphemy. Turns out it worked out quite well and became part of a show that had 4 MORE seasons than the original series.

Well it's not like they haven't tried to get these actresses into the tightest outfits before. There was the classic story of how Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine on Star Trek: Voyager) kept passing out during her first dress rehearsals as Seven because the initial version of her super-tight outfit was keeping her from being able to breathe.
