Origin Powers Idea

You know those low level origin powers you get that give next to no damage from the beginning of the game? You know, like:

Science--Tranq Dart
Natural--Throwing Knives
Mutation--Mutagen
Technology--Taser
Magic--Something's Charm(??I forget)

I figure why not, at some high level, get a chance to either max them out to make them stronger, or just replace them with stronger powers to deal more damage? You may add a longer recharge, if you wish. BUT it will be worth the damage, you know? What do you all think of this idea?

While it's a nice idea, I don't think it would be used much. Those powers basically exist to give players another attack at low levels, since it takes so long to defeat foes early on. But with the preponderance of vet powers even that's pretty unnecessary. Also keep in mind that once you decide to go IO slotting, your origin is pretty meaningless.

The Devs long ago moved away from the idea of making any more Origin unique powers/abilities. I doubt we will ever get anything that would be Origin specific that would ever be more "powerful" than these powers.

Having said that I wouldn't mind seeing these 5 powers "de-linked" from specific origins so that we ourselves can choose which of ANY of them we'd want to use. For instance why can't my Mutant character use Throwing Knives or a Taser just as well as anyone else? Players should have the choice to decide what powers fit their character concepts, not the Devs.

Basically if they allowed these 5 powers to become a new Generic Power Pool open to all characters then maybe your idea of allowing them to become stronger as you gain level might be doable. You could include Brawl into this new pool thus allowing us to have six choices for a Brawl-like minor attack instead of just Brawl by itself.

It is very sad & frustrating that they do not give us enough power choices. How we must give up ones we want in order for another one we also want. I wish I had ideas that would work & ppl would not mind saying "yes" to.

Now you know how hard it is to be a Dev with their constant quest to try to come up with stuff they can give us that'll make the most people happy.

This idea could have been a neat alternate way to implement the Incarnate System. Unlike many people I don't have a problem with the way it's been implemented story-wise, but it still would have been cool to have it tie directly into your origin.

What we have now is absolutely fine and works the way it should. I know this is going to sound wierd to you, but anymore power choices would lead to a gimped build worse then can already be had. But don't let the no's get you down. Eventually you will come up with an idea that people might say yes to.

Thanks, Shark, but my builds are already gimped/nerfed, so I don't see how having more powers can make one gimped.
