The Movie Remake Bubble Still Hasn't Burst...

The main reason "Plan 9 from Outer Space" is such a cult classic is that it tried so hard to take itself seriously. That, among other obvious reasons, firmly places it at the top of the all-time "it's so bad it's good" list of movies. 
A remake of it would be like someone trying to explain an old joke to someone who doesn't get it. I can't hardly think of a more pointless candidate for a remake.

Not sure if it's this one or another remake, but I heard that James Rolfe, The Angry Video Game Nerd, might have a cameo in it

That guy's been trying to make the movie for years now, I think the original plan was to release it on 09/09/09. And considering the original is public domain and anyone can remake it, this really isn't much of a story.
The baddness that made that movie so awesome cannot possibly be recreated. It only came about through the impossible convergance of so many bad elements that it trancended bad and became awesomely bad. What could they possibly hope to accomplish by trying?

But really though, all this is going to end up as is either:
Another pipe dream never to see reality
or
A movie which attempts to retain the original's "so bad its good" status, but fails spectacularly and becomes "so bad its horrible."
