  1. We found the exact spot where it happens. Look at this: He takes one step backwards and starts to phase out:

I'm about 10 feet from a guy right now on my team, and he's phased out. We're standing on opposite sides of a wall that runs along the red line on the west side of Atlas.

Actually, now he's standing ON the wall, and phased out. If I step right up to the edge of the wall, he phases in. if I'm about 5 feet away, he phases out.

FYI, setting the mission does nothing, I've got a mission set right now in Atlas, and a teammate is phased out. It was set when we all zoned in, too. Also, we're all level 30ish, so it's not like we're all at a different part of one of the Atlas missions.
  4. In my experience it removes them from the minimap as well, which makes it really hard to figure out where they are.

Yeah, I'm not fond of it either, and hope they can fix it.

Thanks for confirming that. The fact that this didn't touch Paragon says that CoH:Freedom is doing well.

Oh good point, I forgot about those.

I mean, they're crazy easy to get, but I'd rather pay 40 points (you really can't sell something this easy to get in-game for 80 points) to have Rocket Boots or Insect Wings in the Character Creator when I'm making a brand new character than have to collect the parts, mail them to myself, and add them after character creation.

As long as we're talking about it, are there any other time vs. convenience options like the cape and aura unlock service you could see being a desirable Market offering?
All of the costume/aura/emote unlocks (save for Ascension armor if you want to save that as Incarnate-only) in the Empyrian Merit and Astral Merit stores.

All unlockable costume parts, really. The Family Tommy gun, the Rularuu weapons, the Nemesis rifle, all of it, please.
  8. Thank you for offering the convention costumes to people who missed them.

I disagree with making them available only for a limited time. It means more people will miss them, and is again artificial scarcity, which I'm not a fan of when it comes to digital assets that cost nothing to reproduce. Because of this, I will not be purchasing the Rikti Mentalist costume, despite my desire for it.

Thank you for creating the Paragon Store and allowing me to "vote with my dollars" on certain decisions without having to unsubscribe to do so.

I just want to provide the following feedback as it relates to this statement: while I want you to have more revenue to continue making the game more awesome, and I know that one way to do this is to increase demand through artificial scarcity (which is exactly what limited time items are-- people will buy them even if they don't really want them just in case they might decide the should have bought them in the future), I consider creating artificial scarcity to be a questionable business practice. Not "maybe you should go to jail if you do it" questionable, but "that's not cool" questionable. Disney does this with their movies, and everyone I know thinks it's a jerk move designed to make more money.

In short, I do not see anything good about wanting to introduce the concept of limited time items to the Paragon Market. I think it's Not Coolâ„¢.

I also agree with the OP that by restricting certain costume items either seasonally in game, or in the market, you restrict concepts from being made for a year, just because you want the selling/rewarding of certain costume items to be tied to a season. One of City of Heroes biggest selling points is about using its customization to realize a concept. I think arbitrary limitations on costume items weaken that selling point.

There's a careful balance to play between convenience and exclusivity/special events. We want for there to be a reason to anticipate holiday events; we believe that they're pretty special as evidenced by the new Halloween Trial, and want to convey that sense of appreciation to you guys.
I think a better way to make the holidays special as it relates to costume items would be to introduce new ones to the store permanently each season, but put older ones on sale during the holidays as your seasonal offerings, and continue to give some away for free via the events (this is a compromise-- my opinion is that no costume item in the game should be gated, aside from small amounts of real money to pay for development costs of new costume items with expectation of a reasonable profit).

Also, I personally anticipate the content that comes in the holidays. I was very excited about the Halloween trial, and couldn't wait to run it with my fiancee and look around for the little fun details. I'd have been excited if the trial didn't give any rewards at all. It was a lot of fun, and I'll probably run it a few more times even though I've gotten what I want for rewards out of it.

Yes. I'm quoting just this part for brevity, but everything in this post is true.

This is what I thought we would be getting when the LFG queue was announced. What we got is something most people don't want for these kinds of events-- they want to join/form teams with a predesignated leader that knows what they are doing, and inform people what they are doing and who they are looking for. That's why Trials are mostly pre-formed. It's frustrating that this thing was created, it only works for a few things, and I still have to go to a specific zone or watch a ton of different global channels to see if something is going on.

There's no reason we can't have the current LFG tool too, for random PUG stuff (it's great for the sewer trial, which doesn't even need a leader), but this is something that would improve team play in the game dramatically, and is something we've been asking for for as long as I can remember.
  11. Just purchased my tickets! I bought one for myself and one for my fiancee, separately, because if you purchase in multiple amounts, it only allows you to choose one T-Shirt size and one Dinner choice. Strangely, it puts the buyer's name on the tickets, so they both have my name on them-- I don't see my fiancee's name anywhere in the confirmation page or the ticket. Hopefully I wasn't crazy and didn't put my name in as the attendee instead of hers.

Anyway, about the badges: we're supposed to send an email with our name, our character's name, and an image (either of us or the character). Is it okay if I use my forum name, or are you guys planning something specific to characters? Also, do I need to send two emails, one for each badge, or can I send the info in one email?

Sorry about the questions, I'm just paranoid that I'll mess something up. :P

Oh also: I think you mentioned something about some kind of pre-event the night before, any idea about when those might be? I'm picking flight times based on it.
  12. For those interested, I was just told by Customer Service that the developers are working on having Paragon Reward information displayed in your account information. Hopefully this means we'll be getting a log of Token grants just like our current log of Point grants. That should help us understand what is going on, and help them with fewer support tickets.

I was also told that Reward Tokens for subs are still granted at the end of a played month, not at the beginning, and since the schedule started on September 28th, there was no point granted in September.

I also want to say that I feel this should be changed to granting at the beginning of a subscribed month, if at all possible. The intent behind Paragon Rewards, as opposed to Veteran Rewards which were for played time, is clearly as a reward for spending money on City of Heroes. Buying points grants Tokens on the spot, and the original goal was to grant all Tokens on the spot for multiple months when you paid for your subscription (but this wasn't able to be done for technical reasons). So it doesn't really make a lot of sense to have to wait a full month to get your token if you subscribe, due to the obvious intent.

Also, given that you are subscribing, and they want to encourage you to subscribe, it makes more sense to have the token to use during your subscribed time, than it does to have it after your subscribed time. If someone is playing City of Heroes for things like Incarnate trials and other features that they are locked out of when their subscription expires, what sense does it make to give them the token for use when they are no longer interested in playing the game because they don't have access to those features?

I just wanted to make that point. Perhaps that, too, is being prevented by the same technical reasons, and hopefully they are working on changing it.

After responding to the generic reply mentioned previously, I got a very rapid reply from GM Roland claiming that this quoted situation is the case.

It sounds like there was not supposed to be a Token for September, but I got one anyway, and the system didn't grant me the first-time point buy token due to a check against my point total.

I'm satisfied with the amount of Tokens that I have at this point, but I'm wary about buying more Points. If I do, I'll certainly be taking screenshots of what I've got (both Points and Tokens) beforehand.
  14. Update on mine:

12 minutes after making my last post, I got the generic reply that says tokens are calculated from launch day, and that I'll get my next token grant on October 28th. This unfortunately has nothing to do with my problem, which is the lack of a token granted from my first point purchase.
  15. I really wish I'd taken screenshots of my rewards. I remember receiving 39 Tokens at launch. I might be wrong, but that's what I remember. I spent 34 of them, hanging on to the rest to wait to see what the rotate period would be for tier 9 rewards, so I wouldn't spend them on the Celestial pieces and not have them for something I wanted more. I checked my Tokens and Paragon points frequently (maybe once a day or every other day) to see if I got a new Token or new points, and never noticed any being awarded.

On Oct 9th, I bought 400 points (thinking I'd need to wait until the 28th to get my next stipend, but I got them early on the 13th or whenever that was). Now, I'd been reading the threads and saw that people had been having problems getting reward tokens, so I made sure to check the number of tokens I had remaining: 5 (I wish I'd taken a screenshot with the store open at the same time to show my total points). I purchased the points. I did not get a new token for the first-time point buy. I'd read on the forums that sometimes tokens take a few minutes to reward, or show up after logging out and in again. So I waited 10 minutes, saw no new token, and logged out and in again. No new token. I played for a while longer, and logged out at some point for at least an hour. I logged back in and still hadn't received a new token. At this point, I sent a petition about the missing token.

Customer support's first response was to tell me that I had 39 total tokens, and 5 remaining. They didn't tell me how many I should have, just what I had, which I already knew. I replied, explaining the information above (that I remembered being given 39 at launch, checked my remaining amount before buying points, and never received another token after buying them). I also gave some erroneous math based on the Paragonwiki article that claimed 39 was the max you could have at launch (37 for 90 month vets, +1 for having an account, +1 for a retail box). They replied saying they were investigating. 5 days later they told me that I had the correct number of tokens-- that I'd only reached the 87 month vet status for 36 tokens, +1 for having an account, and +1 for the retail box for 38, and +1 for the first time point buy makes 39. At this point I realized that Paragonwiki was wrong, and 87 months was the maximum vet reward status you could have (April 28th being the earliest you could subscribe, which is when I did, making your 87 month badge be awarded on July 28th, and the next one due on October 28th, well after Freedom launched and ended the old vet reward system). That was embarrassing, of course, but it didn't explain my 39 Tokens at launch or the lack of a new token after buying points. So I replied and said that yes, I only had 87 months, but there was one more thing-- supposedly we were supposed to receive a Token for September, and we received it at Freedom's Launch, which adds up to 39. Then I should be getting the one Token for the purchase, which I didn't get. That was over 3 days ago now, and I'm waiting for a response.

At this point, I see four possible options:

    1) I didn't get the Token for the point buy.

    2) My memory is faulty about the 39 points at launch (which I could believe, I didn't expect that there would be problems, so I never made a big point to remember it specifically), and about the number of tokens I had both before and after the point purchase (which I will argue to the death about unless I see some kind of transaction and point grant history due to my deliberate checking before and after).

    3) My memory is faulty about the 39 points at launch, and I actually got 38. At some point between Freedom's launch and Oct 8th, I received a Token without noticing it (has anyone received a token since launch without buying points, though? I thought they hadn't). I still didn't get the Token for the point buy.

    4) There was no Token for September, and I was for some reason erroneously granted the first-time point buy token at Freedom Launch, explaining why I had 39 at launch when I should have had 38, and why I never received one for the actual point buy.

So I have these three questions: were we really supposed to receive an extra token for September? How many other people who have been subscribed since April 28th, 2004 received 39 tokens at Freedom's launch, and how many received 38? Did anyone receive a Reward Token between launch and October 8th without buying points?

It was great meeting you too! In retrospect, I wish we'd let Ghost Falcon take a picture of the cube pieces, it's an amusing memory. I'm sure we'll run into you again in the future, we like to go to the CoH events that are near us.

  18. I've been playing City of Heroes for 7 and a half years, and I've had a lot of fun. I've met great people in the game, made (and deleted and re-made) lots of fun characters, read some great stories, and enjoyed epic battles. But 3 years ago, City of Heroes did something for me that I never imagined it would do.

I've been in the same supergroup since 2004, and it has some really great, fun people in it. When the 2008 HeroCon was announced, I decided to go, and met someone I'd known for 4 years in person for the first time. On the forums, and in-game, she's known as Fatare, but those who went to HeroCon might know her as Iris, the character she usually dresses up as. We had a blast. We went to interesting panels about the game and game development in general, sang karaoke, and broke a Rubik's Cube into pieces and tried to put it back together while trying to hide it from Ghost Falcon's camera.

After that, we started dating long-distance, which was hard, but well worth it. In August of 2010, I moved to her city to be with her, and this summer I asked her to marry me. She said yes.

This is a dramatization. Some events, people, and locations may have been changed for dramatic purposes.

Thank you, Paragon, for helping to change my life, and thank you Fatare, for agreeing to be my wife.
  19. I'm hoping for a gun-based Judgement power, preferably one that uses dual pistols. I've got a few characters that would use something like that, for whom fireballs and lightning bolts don't fit their concepts.

I'm not expecting one, but I'm hoping for it.
  20. Hey guys, thanks so much for all your work on this. Mids is fantastic, as I'm sure you know.

I just wanted to report another bug, if you didn't know about it already. All Tier 1 pool powers have been opened up at level 4 in the game now, not just the travel powers, but Mids only allows Travel powers to be taken at level 4. I just took Boxing at level 4 on a Brute in the game, but I can't select Boxing (or Maneuvers, Combat Jumping, or Stealth, etc.) at level 4 in Mids.

    Thanks!
  21. I got my points early as well, despite my billing date being the 28th. I have no complaints about that, obviously.
  22. Fortunately, I was able to run a very quick one of these at lunch, as I happen to have a level 22 character that was copied from Freedom.

I can't really give much feedback on the trial itself as I only had 15 minutes to run it, and my random teammates seemed to be in just as much of a hurry. The visuals look great, both the environments and the new monster (what little I had time to spend looking at). I particularly liked the Barker. That robe is awesome, much better than the stuff the CoT have. You should give robes like that to them.

I like that the trial maxes at 4 characters. I really would like to see more small team, epic story/feel content like this. I wouldn't mind if it maxed at 8, but I like that I can actually do it with 4 or less, and that it's designed for that.

At the end, I picked the High Voltage emblem. I didn't get the traditional yellow "new costume item" unlock message, and when I went to the tailor, I couldn't find it either under Chest Detail or the list of Emblem patterns for tights. I also tried to make a new character to see if maybe it was male-only, but either I couldn't find it, it's bugged, or it's not account wide.

That's all the feedback I have at the moment, back to work for me.

Yeah. I have about an hour after work that I could spend to help test this, if they can get the copy tool up.

Edit: So, since they copied Freedom, I just happen to have a level 22 character that I'd created for that invasion event. I guess I can test after all.

Still would be nice to have the tool working though.
