    Run-In Bug Fix

Its the incarnate stuff thats hard on most mm's really, so why not make the alpha slot buff pets with similar stuff that Lore pets get, that wont change the way most content played and help mm's keep their pets alive when they need them most.

The fact that Lore pets get a aoe defense buff at all means the devs are at least somewhat aware of the problem. Its just to bad that they have some weird hate on for the whole archetype.

    Ninja's

Yeah. Basically... they are a DEF based set with extremely poor DEF, poor AoE damage and insane AI. They are also a melee-based set, and all of those tend to get wrecked by later-game content.

They do good single target damage, but any boss-type enemy with an AoE will wipe them all out pretty fast. You'll spend a lot of time resummoning, and if its a hard fight you'll blow your endurance, end up with no living pets, then no health and chilling in the hospital.

Pass dude. Find a way to enjoy Mercs, Bots, Thugs or maybe Demons even.

    BLASPHEMOUS SACRILEGIOUS HERESY!!!

How dare you compare Him on Earth to some pathetic nobody villain, good lord! If you play Dark Millennium when it comes out I'm going to follow you around kill all your mobs until you repent.
  4. Oh man,

Its Bots/Traps. Do whatever floats your boat you'll be fine.

Just be sure to throw on as much +DEF as possible, slap in some +RES if you feel like it. TAKE PROVOKE, and your done. The great thing about Bots/Traps is that it requires absolutely no finesse or strategy Hell with my b/t I don't even bother to use my secondary abilities most of the time. I just walk into the middle of the mobs and read the forums until they are all dead.

When you fight gm/av's ... just put down whatever traps you like and use provoke when its up. Try and keep your stupid pets out of melee range, use provoke. And your done.

It doesn't really make for an awesome epic battle to watch but its the end that matters right?
  5. Sounds like you guys play with some real grumpy and picky people.

I've never had issues with getting in a baf or lambda, even with my non-shifted mm. Not with Mercs/dark or bots/traps.

With so many guys in a league you don't have to be so picky about who gets in!

Oh well, because Bots and Thugs can softcap their pet defenses with traps. Mercs's can't. With Mercs I love Dark personally. But anyway, it really helps when your pets can be expected to survive a little while longer when fighting big groups because provoke only gets you so far. That said, I like Mercs better than Robots because I don't find Robots damage all that impressive.... Mercs with nice procs can really tear things up in ways that I don't honestly see the "more powerful" Robots and Thugs doing.

What makes Mercs awesome really is that they proc so well, just about every single attack on the Soldiers and Commando can proc, most of the Specops attacks can... and they attack a lot, especially compared to melee sets. I find their damage to be smoother between the tiers because of that. Robots and Traps both seem to be all about the T3 Pet, they are very top-heavy sets.

Only problem with Bots/Traps is everything is so easy. I don't even bother to lay down my trip mines and acid mortars etc. /Dark is a little more fun to play, I find, because you actually do things ;P It wrecks regular content evilly, but tends to be weaker when fighting AV's and Heros, or lots of the incarnate guys where they resist debuffs 87% or so.

All of that said, my dream set would be like... Assault Bot, Grave Knights and Soldiers, probably with /Dark. Figure out the theme there

Ah... So thats what those are.

so I ride the incarnate trial train.

That seems easier than organizing a zillion different sf's.

    Wish List for 21

Im still pushing for mm pet customization damn it.

Its insulting to every mm that not any of their primaries allow custom pets.

Its dumb. Think about this. Go watch "the venture bro's".

See the Monarch? He's seriously cooler than all of we are. Yeah he sucks pretty bad, but at least he has a theme going on. What kind of crappy two bit so called super villain can't afford custom outfits for his henchmen!

Even in that one episode where Dr Venture almost became a bad guy he had custom uniformed thugs called Venchmen. I was seriously jealous.

Both Monarch and Venture are not the sort of people I should be jealous of!

God those yellow and black jump suits with wings are bad on so many levels, and yet, me, a veteran mastermind, who battled the statesman, climbed the rikti mother ship, saved the world from various things at least a few times... Is still not cool enough to have themed henchmen!

This burns me man, it burns me. Issue 21 guys! Hell a booster pack would be fine, I have the money right here for it even. Just give it!
  9. I've searched and read up on this but I'm still having an issue groking it.

So I unlock alpha. Then.. I do what? It seems a challenge to go and find people for all these little TF's needed to unlock these things. Drop of the well of the furies seems to have no tf and you just bite the bullet and grind for it.

yet... Some people here seem to just burn though the first few tiers of any of these..

    What's the trick?

From what I've gathered on it, the added recharge was causing the pet's AI to use only one specific power they have available. And for some of the pets that is the LAST power you want them spamming.
    I've heard this, yeah.

But thats a totally stupid reason to wreck the whole archetype. Try fixing the bugs instead guys, geez.

Its especially annoying on primaries like mercs that really would benefit from some recharge. Or fix the recharge times on the control powers anyway.

Now that you mention it, isn't the lack of recharge responsible for the ranged pets running into melee bug? Heard that too. Either way the pet ai is frustratingly broken. If thats all they do for issue 21 I'd be OK.

Yes, LOL. My permahasted necro/dark can spawn them every 26 seconds or so

Can't feel bad about letting zombies die right?

Seriously though, why can't you slot recharge on normal pets anyway?
  12. Psylenz is right. Its really annoying that RIP slots are usable on most MM combinations. Any pet should just be able to slot them, it won't change anything for the guys at the top and it'll help bring some of the weaker combinations up.
  13. I always take MM attacks. Provoke just doesn't hold aggro all that well by itself. You need to "seal the deal" with a good solid attack, it works a lot better. A good AoE attack works great, like M30 Grenade or even one of the Fire Ancillaries.

And honestly, you just can't do enough damage, ever
  14. I haven't quite found a clear answer for this yet.

If I get something like The Atlas Medallion, then switch to red side.... It becomes Atlas shrugged. The text implies that I lose the power. Its just that some are easier to get red side or blue side, id be nice to cherry pick.

But that doesn't work does it?
  15. Hmm. I guess melee pets get hosed.

You know though, I could also just tough through until I get the stuff I want. I guess face planting the whole time is no real skin off my nose

I personally don't have any attacks at all, other than my debuffs such as Tar Patch, Darkest Night...etc..etc. My pets do the rest for me. I've had my pets wiped a few times, I won't deny that, but for the most part, I don't have a big issue with my pets dying in the Trials. Maybe because I use multiple macros for my pets on telling there what to do and where to go. But for the most part, I may have to re-summon them once per trial if that.

I do have taunt and I do tank the AVs as well, so maybe that plays a part in my participation, but I'm getting pretty good rewards on my MM.
Hmmm, thats a wildly different experience than what I've been hearing, and experiencing. I'd really like to know the difference. I know that Thugs are mostly ranged compared to Necro, but /Dark plays more or less the same on everything. I'm a big macro user to for the most part, but I don't usually exercise a lot of control on my undead... since well, they are melee. If they are hitting things thats kind of the best they can do... you can't actually order them to just use their ranged attacks after all.

Its nice to see someone other than /Traps get anywhere though
  17. It's a shame really, to participate in these trials it seems like only a tiny few ranged defense based sets really keep up. I doubt even the tough and Hardy bruiser will do well here.

Well I have lots of Mm's
  18. Yeah I suspected as much. I've been playing MM's a long time and know most of the tips and tricks -- I didn't survive long enough to really use any of them. The normal MM survival stuff doesn't work.

I heard -Damage was resisted though?

Too bad. May as well get that last level on my Bots/Traps and see how he does. ;P
  19. Hi fellas.

Ran a Lambda trial today. Necro/Dark. Very solid build, the character did excellent in the games content so far. He got *wrecked* on Lambda. The team carried the day, but I contributed nothing and I'm not used to that -- I actually lost my cool for a minute there.

I've heard that MM's in general have it the worst on the incarnate trials, but I had not seen it myself yet -- I was the only MM in the league though.

Is there any advice to survive this stuff with a melee-like mastermind like Necro/Dark?

    Cheers!

    +Def Vs -ToHit

Thats all well and good, but it has nothing to do with my question.

I'm not asking about the 'softcap' specifically, I understand that mechanic just fine. Its specifically resistances.

    My question:
    Quote:
Looking at these numbers a little bit, trying to wrap my head around it. According to the various wiki's.. Arch Villains at 54 will resist at 87%. So if I understand, for simplicity (and practicality I guess) my -100 -ToHit becomes -13 -ToHit. Not very good actually. But it does mean your 'softcap' against AV's is around DEF 32, which is vastly easier to get than 45.
Let me re-phrase that to be more clear... if I do a -100 -ToHit, and I'm fighting an ArchVillain who resists that at 87%... that would mean I only do -13 -ToHit right? Which would mean assuming the normal circumstances.. having a defense of 32 would floor his ToHit at 5.

But thats assuming I'm understanding how the resistances work in the first place, which is my question. Is there any funny math involved in debuff resistances, or is it a straightforward % off like I have above?

    Cheers!

    +Def Vs -ToHit

Hmmm, thats pretty rank numbers. A /Dark MM, probably the strongest debuffer for the Archetype when it comes to -ToHit... can generally do around -60 before slotting. So your not going to get anything close to those numbers. You can probably ramp it up to close to -100 if you really press the issue.

If that math is correct... is that how it works?
  22. Ah, you Just Like It(tm).

    I understand that.

/storm isn't bad in general really, I think its strongly underrated. I have a thugs/storm at fifty who did pretty well considering I didn't spec him very well. However, the real problem with storm is that a lot of your best attacks tend to annoy team members, especially brutes and controller-types

They sing a different tune when you shoo off a group of guys about to kill them though - but until then prepare to hear complaints about your knock back
  23. Hows it work? I mean from a technical view...

You can't soft cap your pets, or stack their res up very high... What's the angle you play?
  24. Lewisite

    New MM

Try Mercs/Dark. Its rarely seen and actually pretty solid.

Dark handles survivability, and -ToHit's hard enough that you don't need a high defense on your pets to keep them alive. You and the Dark Servant heal them up when they do get it... and they have solid enough resists that they can survive a decent hit. With the +RES enchancement they'll get about 36% S/L resistance, which is respectable enough for pets.

Achilles Heel is wicked effective on Mercs of all kinds, also Touch of Lady grey makes a lot of sense as well. Avoid sets with Mercs, they are frankenslotters. Mercs also dish out a -DEF on all their machinegun-like attacks, which becomes handy when you fight enemies like Sky Raiders who use force field generators, and also some Praetorian enemies have some kind of DEF ability.

Go for Musculature and Reactive incarnate stuff, keep the damage up and the enemy resistances down since your S/L damage is generally strongly resisted. You'll have a cool, effective and uncommonly seen MM-type.
  25. Then I realize that my Thugs/Storm is so old that I didn't do anything intelligent with him, and actually he doesn't slot defense in his enforcer. He current hands out 8.47% defense, the default is 7.5% isn't it? Probably some weird set bonus from something.

Holy crap, he's got a Numina's Convalescence proc. I wonder when he got that?
