People keep recommending that, and I have to say I've found it terribly inefficient the few times I've tried it, in comparison to what I normally do.
Bosses and Lts have a higher tip drop rate than minions. I find I have no issues getting tips quickly if I bounce around Talos or Sharkhead focusing on Bosses and Lts.
Travelling out to Dark Astoria and back (even with an SG teleporter) generally takes longer than it takes me to just kill stuff near the tram. -
-
I wasn't being literal. I was referring to the fact that other people are killing for drops and iXP while you're not, which slows the rest of the league down. It's not an equal contribution, and the "ease of getting the Atral" isn't enough to counteract it.
Unless people are completely pants, its always a success, and it has a fixed time limit. You're not saving time, you're not making it easier for anyone, you're just robbing the group of drops. -
At this stage, people are there mainly for iXP for alts and threads. Plugging 1 door just means they spawn elsewhere and someone is doing the work you should be doing.

Quote:I'll also note that even though they're not re-colorable, Dominators get a Fire Mastery APP (soon to be available at level 35) that has 2 fantastic powers in it. Fireball and Rain of Fire are like the cherries on top of the sundae when it comes to building an AoE machine of terror.I chose plant/fire for the dom due to one key factor. Fire is fire. Change its color and becomes something different. This adds a lot of room for me to create a nice concept.
As for getting the Thorns of Plant/Thorns to look good, yes I can see that as an issue. My main dom is Plant Thorn, and in his case I use a wide variety of the thorns available to me to get cool looks. His base costume has recolored Thorns, and they match well. His evil Scientist look has the black metal spikes. His incarnate look with the Ascension armor uses the crystal spines and they ended up matching nicely with the sweeping bladed look of the armor. -
I will add that come Freedom and i21, one of the Paragon Rewards will be [Return to Battle] which is a really nice self rez for all your characters (30min recharge). Unfortunately for newer players, it is not available until Tier 8, so that means waiting a while or buying a bunch of Paragon Points to get Reward Points to get that far.
It may not be a particularly viable option, but it is there. -
It's not Them vs Us. It's Least vs Most. It's simply a matter of them picking the time when there are traditionally the least number playing, thus the least disruption.
I'm American, and since I have a free morning today, I'd love to be playing. Happened earlier this week too. I'm still happier knowing only a few people get put out this way. -
Translation: I only want what I want, and using anything they've done for me already is unacceptable.

Quote:That's because it isn't. Test isn't Beta. As I said in another thread:That doesn't sound like a trickle down of patches to the live servers from the Beta. It seems excessive to have 5-7 days of near consecutive downtime scheduled unless Freedom launches today.
At least one maintenance was cleanup from DXP. Another was probably "normal" maintenance. This one is seemingly the most recent patch coming from Test Server.
Truthfully though, people ought to think about it a bit before they get huffy and complain. The devs have clearly been in the process of ramping things up and implementing fixes since the Anniversary event/stress test in May.
They seem to be working hard to finally fix several long standing issues/complaints. Lag Valley on the ITF is gone. Last night I was on a 24man BAF that had less slowdown and lag than I have ever seen. Basically, for all the times people begged them to take a serious look at this stuff, they're finally doing it. I for one say bring it on.
Since they've scheduled Weekly Stress Tests on the test server, I think it's fair to say you can probably expect a patch at least every other week if not ever week, in addition to regular maintenance. -

And as usual when this complaint comes up, I'd like to note that even if it were daily, this game ends up with less downtime than any other MMO I've seen, including the big bad 800lb gorilla. -
That admin message is the same one they've used for most of 7 years, and shouldn't "suggest" anything to you.
Additionally, they never post patch notes until after the patched Live servers are back up and running. It's standard procedure. If you want to know what's coming, check the test server patch notes for the most recent changes, that's what we will be getting on Live. -
Quote:Whoever told you that was misinformed. There was a time when Controller powers had a higher target cap and longer durations, but most of that has been removed. Even if Doms have shorter durations without Domination, they more than make up for it with higher damage.I hear that 'troller have better control than that of the Dom, and was wondering if the /fire's damage outwieghs the power of /storm and stronger mag.
Storm Summoning gets great damage.... eventually. For the most part it's the last couple powers in the set that give it that damage, and I've never been a huge fan of waiting that long for it. -

So make a Plant/Fire with a strong character concept.
My recommendation was going to be some form of Dominator, and out of personal preference I recommend Plant Control. It matures very early (you get your most useful power at level 8 and it serves you for the entire game), it gives you solid Area Effect damage (the AoE immobilize is more damaging than any other), and it has a lot of really solid utility.
From there, what you pick to go with it is up to you. I'd personally say go for a set with good ranged if that's your preference, even though Dominator Assault sets are designed to do their best single target damage at close range once things are locked down. You can get around that by being a bit more patient and going with an Area effect sort of approach.
In any case you will be a lot more active as a teammate and a soloist, and there's nothing that beats eliminating 100% of incoming enemy damage with a well placed AoE hold or Seeds of Confusion with Domination up. -
Quote:It's not halves of the same arc. It's 2 different arcs. Patrons all have 4 arcs total. 2 unique to them that run from 40-50, and 2 that complete the story of Project: Destiny that are the same for everyone.you can get a patron at lvl 40 and start running the first half of their arc, the 2nd half is locked till lvl 45
So technically speaking, you unlock Patron powers after doing 1/4 of the arcs they have for you. -
We know what you're talking about. StarGeek told you what there was.

I'd be pumped to see the posters and entire theater buildings themselves get revamped. Keep a couple of them in the older style, but add at least one supercinema somewhere in the city.
They don't even need to pick winners per se. Just pick any and all that meet a reasonable standard of quality, then let the dozens of posters cycle over weeks and months. -
Quote:Agreed, they said their goal was to impart a sense of doing good for a specific zone/neighborhood, and it works. I can't wait to see similar treatment applied to other zones. Red Side this already tends to happen so there's less need, but it will be nice to see some more area specific arcs that broaden the storyline of particular areas. Some of the new Atlas Park missions send you to neighborhoods in the distant corners of the zone that I had never been to because nothing ever happened there before. Your contact in that neighborhood remains your contact for the duration of their arc, and then they send you to a contact in another neighborhood; it might be on the other side of the map, but when you get there you can stay there (unless you want to train or something).
Instead of being tedious and frequent, traveling gets to be a fresh experience. You're going somewhere new! As opposed to crossing an area almost in its entirety for the tenth time, to go in a random door. -
Quote:Congratulations!but in reality it seems more likely that adding two entire superheroes was the most important addition to our strength.
And to address this, you are pretty much correct. People complain about TF minimums a lot, but without them the devs can design harder encounters like this one.
Think of it this way: Modern TFs have a level range and a min max of players. The closer to the bottom of the level range your team is, the closer to the max you want to be. The entire balancing act between damage, survivability, regeneration, etc is actually pretty forgiving, but on a team nearer the low end than the level cap, more people is always going to be the simplest solution.
I'm glad you guys pulled it out, and hope you had fun. Keep these lessons in mind and go back for future runs as you level up. It's fun to have a broad range task like this that you can use as a test bed to see how your skills and abilities are improving. -
Quote:It's a simple matter of finding someone with an operator star and asking them. If you happen to play in the early mornings most often, I apologize, that's when most of us are sleeping or working. Send me an offline message @Lemur Lad, and I can unsilence you even if we're not on at the same time.I've tried joining PinnBadges. And I get to watch others post and interact, without being able to myself.
I get the feeling I'm supposed to figure out the magical way to find the right person to beg to get permission...
As for why we do things that way, we have solid reasons. I know it's a pain, but it's worth it to us as ops and our members so that we can have a useful channel and still have fun playing even when someone decides to make a complete pancake of themselves. -
I don't consider increasing the utility of a utility power by overcoming it's main design flaw to be a buff.
I'm not talking about making it more powerful, just more useful to the people who do take it. -
When I mentioned that, it was because of the travel for travel's sake nature of the old CoH progression design, not because of impatience.
I like moving around the world as much as anyone, but I have to feel like there's a point to it. Outbreak isn't a rich environment worth looking at by any stretch of the imagination, and if you go through it with only Sprint and happen to miss something or take a wrong turn, you're off in the weeds.
Big for bigness sake without much going on is what's wrong with a lot of old zones, and that's not impatience talking, it's a player who understands most of the game is done inside instances, but it's still really nice to see people and feel like things are active when they move around outside. -
news flash: some people are dumb

Quote:If you don't have them unlocked by Paragon Reward status (veteran time), then you can pay to unlock the Archetype at the store.Aren't Controllers/MM's limited to VIP's? At least that's what I thought, but I don't pay attention much.
As DarkGob said to the OP I recommend making the character's look and holding onto the name now. Save the costume to a file and park it. When i21 hits, delete the name holder, start a new character, put in the name and click the checkmark (this checks the name AND reserves it until your character is complete). From there, load in the costume file and take some time to look over the new hotness costume parts that come with i21! Then start up in the new tutorial and head to Mercy Isle.
