Can you give me a timestamp in the video? I'm not sure what you mean. There's an outdoor lake in the park with white tents nearby, is that it?

Hospital looks great..the big yellow logo looks awesome!
The other side of the zone has a completely different look, and it has its own hospital. Here's some pics of that; click for larger images:

They're OGG files; most sites will probably only take WAV or MP3. You'll need to open it with a sound editor and save it in a different format. I've heard good things about Audacity which is free and open source, but I haven't personally used it.

Mainly because the person who talked about Kallisti Wharf before had his post nuked, so I was trying to avoid attention here. But since this thread is already here... Click for larger images:

I didn't show the middle of the area in the video because it's REALLY incomplete (floating in the water, missing buildings including what I believe would have been the Vanguard HQ, unfinished geometry) and the *other* side of the area looks completely different (industrial, but also gorgeous). I'm going to show it off some more in my next video.

That person is misinformed. It's not on Test. The assets exist on Beta, but not as a city zone.
  4. A note on OGG files, if you install the proper codecs, they'll play on any DirectShow enabled program, like Windows Media Player. I prefer the Combined Community Codec Pack. It includes Media Player Classic.

  6. None, to be honest. Illusion Control is kinda stupidly overpowered, with personal tanks distracting all the aggro from me. To this day I'm surprised that Phantom Army survived the entire run of the game unnerfed.

I'll download it and put it on MediaFire. Give me an hour or so.

How does that translate to, say, Star Trek Online, where players can freely trade the actual in-game currency itself (Cryptic Points before, ZEN now)? What do they do differently that they can say, "sure, sell the points for dilithium, or any store item for energy credits, it's fine"?

OT: I should tell you that your signature led me to know Misfile, and I got a friend addicted to it as well.

I promise I'm not being intentionally obtuse, but can you elaborate?

I get it, a RMT seller can buy a $10 item worth a billion influence, sell it on the market and then try to sell that influence for more than $10 (let's say $12) and make a profit.

Except *any player* can _also_ take the $10, buy the item, and sell it for a billion influence. Why would a person spend $12 for a billion inf from a RMT, when they can spend the same $10 in the legit game store and get a billion inf that way?

(Yes, prices fluctuate and it's conceivable that the RMTers could buy items when they're at low prices and sell them when they're high. But knowing this game, chances are there's some item that would always be at the 2 billion cap and it would become the reference price for everyone, because it just can't get any higher.)
  12. Faultline. It's got the only donut shop in the city.

    No.

Massively's job is to cover as many different games as they can. Punishing them for doing their job is stupid. It'd be like writing to a newspaper and telling them "I won't be buying you because, even though your news coverage is great, you have an sports section and I hate sports."

Thing is, when it comes to MMOs, City of Heroes is the only one that held my attention for more than a month. I've never paid a subscription to any other MMO past the free month that came with the box. There's just so many things this game gets just right that nearly everybody else gets so wrong.
  15. Re: zone fly by. The game client can load a zone and let you move the camera around it even without any servers. As long as you keep the client you can always tour the (empty) zones.

To do this, go to any zone and type /demorecord ZONE_NAME, then /demostop. That creates a file in the City of Heroes/client_demos folder that you can "play back". The easiest way to play back demos is using Sloth's Demo Launcher.

Once the client loads, it'll play the bit you recorded over and over. To get a free roaming camera, hit F2. Now you can use the movement keys to move around the entire map; even outside the normal boundaries of the map.
  16. http://cohtube.blogspot.com is a video archive for COH. Thor's Assassin has been adding videos to it lately. It only embeds videos already on YouTube, but it helps keep everything in one place.
  17. optomist: Someone who thinks that everything will be all-right, even though they cannot spell.
Clueless: "I know I will do great on today's spelling test."
Realist: "How can you be so sure?"
    Clueless: "I am an optomist"
    Realist: "You mean optimist, right?"
  18. Pohsyb. I crashed his client a few times during the beta and horribly exploited his chat parser , but specifically because I nagged him about reducing the traffic the server sent to the client in order to improve performance in low bandwidth connections, and he delivered, adding the "do not send buff numbers" and "don't send buff data at all" options. With those options enabled, the server sends a lot less data and even a dial up connection can run the game. And in large events like a mothership raid, it helps immensely against network lag.

That's the reason my farewell video features a cardboard box hopping along the other signature characters.

Have you tried Microsoft Expression? It's what I use when I want to quickly record something off the screen. No watermarks, but 10 minute time limit.

After installation look in your start menu for "Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 Screen Capture".

I'll be there. Unfortunately, my piece of <bleep!> ISP behaves really badly between 8pm and midnight because that's when most people are online (they are WAY over capacity), so I *hope* I'll be able to join without major lag and client crashes.
