Quote:I'm not interesting in paying them for the work they did, I'm interested in paying for the product that was created. If "Beast Summoning" is ever produced, then I'll compensate them for the four-legged skeleton at that time, provided that it is, at the time, worth the price. While I agree with everyone here that for a vanity pet the pricing is a bit too steep I will probably get it to support the development of the 4 legged rig as well. This kind of evolution in the game can lead to many suggested and anticipated powersets. Beast Summoning and Shapeshifting come to mind. We will just have to wait and see.

Quote:Rather than "NCSoft pays me $X to play the game" it's more like "NCSoft loses $X because I'm subscribed". In other words, it's in their best interests to convince VIP players to spend at least $X in the store every month. However, I don't think the idea of charging large amounts for items occasionally is going to get them better business than being able to charge small amounts for a large number of items. You're giving these things a tangible monetary amount, and it doesn't work that way. You're not getting $31.86 by check every month, so (with all due respect) don't pretend that you're making money playing this game. I might as well ascribe a monetary value to all the costume packs the F2P players have to buy. Do I get a $10 check every time they add a new powerset that's free for VIP? I understand what you're saying, but I categorically disagree with you.

Quote:My general problem with this, and it's one I've seen shared by others, is that costume parts and concepts are often highly intertwined. People end up not using the Roman costume pieces, for example, because they can't create a character to whom those pieces would be appropriate. Hence, no matter how nice the ITF unlockables may be, they are less desirable because you have to go through more than half the game to get them.I'm sure I'm in the extreme minority here, but I like the idea of costumes as loot. I like the idea of some visible indicator that I did something special/unusual/hard. I dislike it when a level 1 character can look just as cool as a character of mine that I've played for hundreds of hours. I loved stuff like the special Rularuu unlockables and the ITF unlockables, and I'm a big fan of the Incarnate-only custome pieces.
On the one hand, what they're doing with the Maelstrom pistols is a step in the right direction, because it allows people to have the guns unlocked by the time they step out of the tutorial, essentially. It even allows people to have them without having to run any of the trials, since they're a recipe, rather than an account unlock.
On the other hand, there are still a couple problems with the execution. First is the "lolMaelstrom" effect, as the guns are extremely generic looking, and belonging to probably the biggest joke of a villain in the game. So basically, while they have fixed the problem of them being hard to get, allowing people to apply them in any concept, they don't have the unique look of the Roman sets, or the feeling of "special achievement" of the Ascension armor that makes them desirable.
The other problem, as pointed out, is that even if the concept is a step in the right direction, it's still a horribly transparent attempt to make people grind the TPN raid. Setting the bar too high means that even the people who might have been interested lose interest. Requiring the recipe to be purchased twice is simply silly. It doesn't really reflect the "picking up Maelstrom's gun" concept, because you're building the gun! This is just made worse because of problem #1. The guns aren't all that desirable in the first place, so the fact that so many extra hoops and costs are associated with them makes them even less desirable. -
There's a pretty good shot on the i21.5 announcement page.
They're...really not worth all the rigamarole, honestly. I can barely tell the difference between them and the default Match Compensators. -

Given that you can't gift points or market items...I'm not sure there'd be much reason for such a sale this year...

I realize that. My LOLs aren't directed at marketing alone.

Quote:That...doesn't seem right. "Hidden" status isn't anything more than whether or not it's possible to auto-Crit. Placate does give Hidden status. That's one of the main points. It simply doesn't do anything to your stealth level.I got a reply back from the dev... he thinks it's a bug but it's not one that can easily be fixed.
Making powers suppress takes a lot of time and effort to make it right, and since Placate doesn't really give you "hidden status" (it only blinds that specific target), it is hard to suppress the toggles.
So short answer is: by design, they would like offensive toggles to be suppressed after Placate but it is not likely to happen due to how difficult to make it right. They'll have to re-code Placate to give us true Hidden Status and that means Placate would "blind everyone" within sight. It's not going to happen. And even if it is possible, I doubt it's even on the top 100 Priority List. -

According to Zwillinger in beta, it's a drop from the TPN Trial. Since the update was made, but the trial isn't enabled, they probably just didn't sync the market listings to reflect that.

BaBs, because he's pretty much the only of the group who isn't really obnoxious, and it's just way too cliched to kill off the old guy who's supposed to be "retired".
I also sorta would like to keep Manticore around, because while he's a tool, he's less bland of a tool than the rest of the Phalanx, which is kind of nice. But I'm pretty much certain it's him at this point, which is unfortunate.
Everyone else, though, I'd be happy to see go. -
Quote:Don't worry, I still consider it less a bug a more a feature![*]The issue which was causing VG Bases to attack players has spread via the Paragon City internet to SG bases, causing Hero side bases with defensive objects to be...defensive...against Heros. Note, this isn't live yet, however it will start happening after tomorrow's publish. So please, if you don't want your base attacking you, remove these defensive objects from your base. While I know that some of you will enjoy this bug, there will be some who do not appreciate the sudden base related aggression. To those who may be upset by this development, we sincerely apologize.
Though I'm a little bummed tomorrow's market update is the dog pet and not Titan Weapons, at least I can go to town weaponizing my base. -

Quote:To be fair, Dexter isn't a bad person. He's a good person, who does bad things.Aw come on, nearly everybody likes Dexter Morgan, even many of his victims!
However, even putting that aside, there are plenty of affably evil types out there. -
Quote:The thing with the SSAs is that they're not really separate arcs, they're one big arc, being released very slowly. When you have an in-game arc that's seven missions long, around the time of mission #3, you're not really expecting things to go well for you. After all, you can't thwart stage one. When all is said and done, I'd expect the Who Will Die arc to end on an obviously bittersweet note, but one that is doubtless a positive one where justice is properly served.Very well, I'll admit heroes were outplayed here. I'd prefer it if villain victories over heroes were limited to PvP (and vice versa, no arresting player villains either), but whatever. Well done. Still, let me quote one of my favorite lines of all time "You lost today, kid. But that doesn't mean you have to like it." And I'll be damned if I don't spend at least a dozen posts grumping about it

I don't know anything about it currently being bugged or whatnot, so I can't really comment on that. However, basically, the way it works is that Alpha abilities act as an enhancement of their relevant type into any power that can take an enhancement of that type. Hence the Healing boost in the Spiritual and Vigor trees should affect the +Regen of any +Regen power that can take Heal enhancements. If it's not, then that's indeed a bug.

Quote:Hmmm, just out of curiosity, how would this interact with Lightning Rod? Since LR doesn't break Hide, will Chilling Embrace not trigger, allowing the next strike to still get a Critical? That's how I've assumed it, but I also had assumed Placate would re-supress CE, so I've been wrong at least once on this...As Jibikao said though, it does interfere with the use of Placate. More specifically, it breaks the Placate effect and allows mobs to attack you again, and can interfere with your ability to get a critical from your next attack unless you're fast enough or get lucky with the timing of the next tick of Chilling Embrace.

Quote:This isn't a bug. Heck, the contact will even warn you about it. If your difficulty is cranked high enough, or your team is large enough, the robber may be one of the Arachnos Elite...possibly even Recluse himself, though I usually run into Ghost Widow. In addition to fighting the EB Vanessa DeVore in a couple different tips over the weekend I also did the Peregrine Island Safeguard and the guy robbing the bank was Scirocco (as an EB). Lord Recluse must have cut back on their pay when he cut a deal with Vanguard to fight the Praetorian invasion

Ah, bless you, that worked just fine! Thanks a lot!

Been messing around a little bit with my SG's base the last couple of days, but I just made a rather nasty oopsie...while moving a few objects and filling in some walls, an enhancement table got stuck in an artificial wall. I can't remove the wall now because there's an object there, but I also can't find any way to move the object. Thankfully, there was nothing ZOMG! in the table, but it'd still be nice to get it free. Any tips on that? Can it be petitioned? Or is it lost forever (along with one of my table slots for that room, since with enhancements in it, it can't be sold)?

Level ranges on the CoT is a confounding prospect for me. Personally, I'd like to see none of their characters with an upper-level limit. I don't get why there's only one element of Thorn to wield in a given five-level range. I don't get why Madness Mages and Force Mages and can't expand their powers as level increases.
