If you're not counting Proliferations, then you need to leave out Dark Affinity/Assault, as well.

That said, I have no real complaints about what we've seen thusfar.

Vanessa DeVore, presumably. It'll be a great little angst arc for our fledgling hero to get a fashion lesson from mom over not looking ridiculous enough.

Penny's personal style is "the sewing machine jammed when I was still only half done with my shirt"?

Personally, I just find it a really...weird fashion statement. It's one thing to go for a "sexy" costume. I make fun of Desdemona because she doesn't wear pants, but at least that's, y'know, a distinct style. She's supposed to look all sexed up. In actual comics, you have gals like Psylocke, striding into combat with her ninja-thong. Fair enough. I find it more comical than sexy most of the time, but at least y'know, it's a package deal.

Penny's outfit looks far more practical here, but just sort of randomly doesn't cover her belly button. Why? Because Noble Savage has a skin quota to meet in his assignments, or something? It's just kind of...there. Not to mention those straps look awfully chafey against bare skin. The posted-and-reposted picture that extends the red part of her shirt to her waist, I think, just looks more natural.

You mentioned characters like Jean Grey or Spider-man, who don't expect their costumes to protect them, and it's true. I'm not expecting heroes to go dancing out in full body armor. However, last I recall, both those examples still covered the full body, more or less. We don't have Spectacular Spider-abs beefcake, nor does Jean share Psylocke's aforementioned penchant for wedgies.
  4. Claws could definitely use some fixin' to my mind. It just feels soooooo slow and clunky for a set that's supposed to be about speed. Follow Up, in particular, is the worst, with its "lunge, stand in place, slowly step back" animation not really looking very conducive to its function.

Also on the weapons front, War Mace and Battle Axe, I dislike how Pulverize/Gash and Jawbreaker/Swoop have almost the exact same animation.

Beyond that, it's mostly a desire to see certain very specific powers redone, or with alternate animations, though the generally underwhelming way that was done with several of the blast sets last time around makes me enter a "be careful what I wish for" mentality.

Actually, there are a couple arcs in St. Martial...
  6. Clearly, it's looking back on Statesman's life by all the guys who aren't Statesman!
  7. Speculation: The mystery person is Dillo, in his new form, after his defeat in SSA3.

Looking at the picture, I didn't think any skin was actually showing, until you said otherwise. It all looks like white-colored tights to me, including the midriff and the mask.

Generally, they're not the type to be wearing their old duds at large scale public events. And if they are, it's probably because they're Loyalist villains who are their to bomb said public events.

    Just sayin'.

Certainly, the Tyrant I know could think of no worthier foe for himself other than himself.

  11. I have exactly one Stone Armor character, who has taken years just to get to his SOs. I consider trying to build a new one every once in a while, because I actually kinda like the look of it (minus Granite Armor), but the set is just so flat-out worse than pretty much every other set in terms of execution, and the general feeling of "anything Stone can do, Willpower does better" just kills my interest, every time.

On the flip side, for reasons of style rather than substance, I also tend to lose motivation for making new Kinetic Melee characters, not because I dislike the set mechanically, but because I think Concentrated Strike is really, really, really stupid looking, and I can't imagine wanting to play the set after hitting 32.

I suspect the biggest technical hurdle at the moment is that they don't have a way to make it cost extra. Once they can fit certain types of power customization and not others into the market for a fee, we'll see it pretty quickly.

    SG is calling!

"Demand"? No. But when I ran with an SG (most have quit over the years and it's essentially defunct now), and they were doing something, I'd generally drop from any PuGs I was in just because I'd rather, y'know, team with friends. It might not have been "calling" per se, but it was close enough.

If we're talking strictly about super-hero costumes, as I see it there are 3 possible ways to expand on the category:

    A) revamped old school/spandex tights similar to the ones we already have (adding a few details like seams but still mostly plain)

    B) modern tights (w/ ribbing, surface texture(s), subdivided surfaces) a la Ultimates 1 or Marvel movies

    C) pieces we just haven't made before (e.g. domino mask)

What are you guys most interested in?
Mostly (A) with a little bit of (C).

That would have been a big shark jump.
It is more than a little disappointing that it wasn't someone who was already in the game though. At least there were numerous references in the lore, but it still feels anticlimactic.
  16. When I think golden/silver age, I think of cowls and tights that look more like clothing. Very Jack Kirby. The ones we have now look less like clothes and more like simply plastic (or, as someone else noted, like paint).

  22. Copy/pasted from the last of the threads like this, but I think the points still stand.

One thing I liked about Lambda is that it actually uses the League system by forcing the group to split up and assigning simultaneous goals. It's nice that if there's going to be such a large fighting force of players, that they are used in such a fashion. BAF has this to some extent as well, a bit more if you're going for the Keep 'em Separated badge. TPN tries to have it, but it doesn't really work since it's actually more efficient just to ignore the Telepathists. The others don't really make use of the League system, though, and that's a real shame.
Or in short: multiple team content where each time has its own simultaneous goal.

    Quote:
I do also enjoy some of the gimmicks that are designed to emphasize strategy. This is a fine line to tread, and sometimes the trials pull it off, sometimes they don't. BAF does it well, with the aggro sharing and the simultaneous defeats. MoM does a good job as well, with each battle having one or two minor gimmicks, and having to adjust between them. However, it's possible to do too little or too much. Lambda's are boring. Use temps, and then it's just a normal fight. Marauder's jumps prolong the fight, but don't really make players have to think. Keyes has too many at once, to the point where it feels pointless to even pay attention to them. Underground doesn't do too bad, but the Confuse aspect is a little too focused on specific powers rather than strategy (Keyes did too, before the changes). And TPN? TPN is a real annoyance, with the fact that one of the strategic techniques was specifically removed. I really liked the fact that use less commonly helpful effects like Phase and Knockback could be used effectively.
Or in short: when all powers are useful, and effective strategy can make them moreso.

    Quote:
The last thing to note is the "suitably epic" feel of the trials. The best ones for this, I think, are Underground and MoM. The former is a breathtaking journey into what ends up an alien world, the latter a classic brawl with a powerful arch-villain on her home turf. Both of these do a good job of accomplishing the way post-50 content should really feel. Less so the others, which don't feel like much more than generic military strikes that could've been done 15 levels before.
Or in short: Kicking butt in a manner appropriate to folks at level 50+.
  23. Wow, a lot of really really cool stuff there. I mean a lot. I've been recently kind of distracted by...other "galactic" stuff, but this is...wow. Going to...re-distract me? I dunno, something like that. Can we has Beta now?

I do hope that Heroes and Villains both get some distinct flair in the new zones, and that the repeatables are more story-focused, ala Tips, than another clone of Borea. A co-op story arc, plus one for each side, would be best.

Also, wonder what's up with Bondage McTenFootHair there. We've got one scene of people fighting her, and another of her chilling with the Phalanx and the rest.
