Hey everyone,
I was just curious. Is it important to cap AoE defense? I have a DM/SR scrapper that has 49% melee, 47% range, and 45% AoE defense so he's pretty set. But i'm curious if I could drop the AoE defense (either the toggle or passive or both) completely in favor of something else. Not sure what power I would replace it with but just curious.
Are there any AV's or villain groups that you really need AoE defense for or can it be replaced without problem.

For a scrapper that wants to farm AE missions or else the warrior or battle maiden mission do you think AoE defense needs to be capped? furthermore is AoE defense even needed?
I'm not looking for an ultimate farmer toon to keep up with fire/kins or spine/fires but the toon i'm asking for is an elec/SR scrapper.

isn't it annoying how no one reply's to ice builds? I've tried both in controllers and blasters asking people to post builds but no one ever replies!

I know that the defense cap is 45% for PvE.
What is the defense cap for PvP? Also 45%?

Question 1: Which is better for controllers, defense or resistance? i have Mids builds one with 41% defense and the other with 62% resistance. Both with regards to smashing/lethal.
Question 2: How many slots go into transfusion, siphon power, siphon speed usually on kinetic builds?

Here's my build can you guys tell me if this is a good build for an ice controller. Some highlights for this build include:
41% smashing & lethal defense
33.8% range defense
174% Regen (is that correct for a controller)
45% Hasten
16.5% Damage
9% Accuracy
Not sure if those are what would be appropriate for a controller, so please give me your input.

Would TA/Archery be a good build to farm if i'm only farming like +1 or +2 enemies with no bosses?
I'm thinking Oil slick, ignite it, Rain of Arrows, Explosive Arrow and then back to ignite oil slick.

Is elec/sr a possible build for farming?
I've heard that if i want to farm 53-54 that /sr is squishy.
Is this true?
I trying to make a farmer scrapper but i absolutely love "the flash". So SR is always what i want to play as.
Any tips?
Would elec/sr be good for farming anything?

After getting a helpful tip here's my build for my ice/ice/cold blaster. he has 35% ranged defense, and 30% smashing and lethal defense. I had a previous build with ranged capped, but feel this one is better as my health is up at 133% and regen is at 272%.
Also with this one my endurance use is lower.

Should each archetype focus on the same set bonuses regardless of powerset choices?
I mean every blaster should focus on the same, every scrapper focus on the same set choices?
Or like should a ice blaster focus on something different then a fire blaster?
Furthermore, what set bonuses should each archetype ideally focus on?

Rules (please follow)
1. No hamidon enhancements. Just IO sets.
2. Avoid the purple (most expensive IO sets) in each category.
3. Even though I know ice/ice is single target damage, I'd like to build to be as best as it can for AoE. To farm on my own, not necessarily be a farmer for other players since it won't be that fast anyhow.
4. I'd like superspeed or fly for travel, not super jump.
5. Please make note of what set bonuses you focused on in the build.

Ha i'm glad your the first to posts as your builds are the main ones i've been trying to compare to. My issue with ribosome is I have no knowledge of HO's such as which are good, where to get them and such. Which is why in my build i ignore them. As yes i'm avoiding purples for the higher costs. What does EPS for tough mean?

So i've tinkered and looked at other builds a lot and for what I want i think this is a good build. Lend me your tips and comments.
I chose focused accuracy because I don't wanna lose two other powers to pick up tactics with manuevers. You'll notice my defense are closer to 50% then 45%. I know that 45% is suppose to be the soft-cap, but i figure i still got the powers I want and my idea is for this toon to be able to handle AV's. So a little more defense only helps me out more. Plus, when i tried this toon at defense of 45.4% i still seemed to get rocked by battle maiden who i hear is not even that hard of a AV.
So ya, let me know what you think of this toon. Hopefully you'll agree that it seems pretty good...or else i'm just going crazy!

Someone was asking for a general build with normal enhancements instead of sets for this power combo, so here on is.
This build gives you some defense, not much tho, but focuses on killing quickly. In the ice set I chose to give chilblain only 1 slot becuz i personally don't use it much except to maybe lead off into freeze ray against a boss.
With this build, if endurance is a problem then i would suggest changing some of the recharge enhancements to endurance enhancements.

Someone was asking for a basic power choice and slotting for this power combination so here one is.
This build has normal enhancements, so no set bonuses or IO's.
I think this build is pretty commn for blasters before using set bonuses. It supports the high damage/quick killing that blasters are known for. But since no set bonuses are included, the build lacks defense and can be "squishy" if trying to solo against difficult enemies or mobs.
With this build i went with 1 melee attack as for blasters i more prefer range attacks then melee. I simply chose Frozen Fists as I like the animation better. In this build I chose Ice patch since it only really needs 1 slot. And I've heard from others to choose Ice Patch or Shiver but no need for both. Ice Patch you won't have to worry about enemies attacking cuz they'll fall down, while Shiver will reduce their attack rate but they will still attack. So I recommend choosing one of them but no need for both. I chose maneuvers with this build for the defense gain. I didn't choose tough n weave as I feel blasters need defense over resistance, and didn't wanna waste a power choice of tough.

So this toon has a defense of 44.9% so roughly 45%. What i'm wondering is what you all think of the rest of this build.
I'm not too satistfied with the small hasten and damage bonuses this build has. is that pretty common when trying to soft-cap a blaster?

So here's my invul/energy tank that i've had for some time but haven't played in a while. This build i have only uses a few set io's as i'm looking for more of a cheap build. My focus was maxing out smashing/lethal resistance while increasing both def and resistance for fire and cold as well as increasing damage and health a little bit. i think i've done an alright job. But any tips or advice is welcome. i'm looking to spend maybe 50mill which again is why i only have a few set IO's.

So after my first posts i recieved some very helpful tips and have changed my first build into this one. I think this one is good now becuz my deefense is soft capped and my regen and health are both bumped up.
I think this will be the final respec i use on my toon and hopefully he'll be able to solo av's like some other SR scrappers i've teamed with. So before i start changing him again let me know your thoughts!
