    Help with Lusca

great tip on the head, thanks

    I am on Virtue

I just got finished trying to solo him/her?
    Ill/Rad, Tier 4 x 5 with Warworks lore pets
I was able to solo take down a tentacle, but it took about 20 minutes
If I add a HVAS and shivans it should go faster
snow beast would be nice to have but I already used all mine up
I hear the Cimeran lore pets do insane damage, they should help alot
I might go crafting before trying to do all 6 tentacles and the head

I was only using lowest level damage inspirs
buying somethe super insiprations would help alot too

    Help with Lusca

Last night 4 of us (2 x Ill/rad and 2 x scrappers) were taking down Lusca and we got the 6 x tentacles taken out easily, but when we started to attack the head both of the Ill/rad pets would not attack the head, greatly reducing our damage output. we had to call in a few friends to finish him off

what happened, what did we do wrong
did we have to take out all 8 tentacles?

    New launcher

I am not very computer savy and this new launcher thing is confusing to us old farts.

I assume this is switching over automatically right

I read the note and it was not clear what I was supposed to do

The Q and A format was hard to follow

could one of you (smarter, younger players) put it into simple step 1, step 2 format

    Thanks
  4. I have been away,
I have my Alpha tier 4 on my main
I read the Issue 20 stuff, but it does not explain it well
obviosuly everyone else figured it out
I have run around in atlas and peregrine island (on Virtue) broadcasting "Looking for B.A.F." for an hour and I get no response and no help.
    so
how do I get on a BAF team, what zone do I need to go to?
  5. Who do you think I am "Arcaniville in Rainbow spandex"?

I was just showing that by taking /fire you get a significant damage boost , esp if you take fire/

yes when I hit the Fire tarantula the damage was less than the plain tarantula, but the extra boost still made killing it quicker than without, and that is the point

I assume anyone who reads this (that would about 3 other people max) would assume fire resist would be part of the rock paper scissors of PVP

Survival in zone was not a problem since /fire with tough gets 50-63% resist including toxic and psi, whicj gives me time to hit the fast activating self heal, with phase is nice escape.

BTW Psyrene, I use one of your posted builds for my Psy/EM and it rocks, Thank you
  6. Necro man here

I was looking for a Fire/Fire PVP build and my (weak) search fu brought this up
so I decided to do some voodoo and resurect it (mumbling, chanting, shakes rattle)

any I justflew in from RV with my Fire Fire scrapper (and boy are my arms tired)

here are some numbers (math we don't need no stinkin' math)

I picked a tarantula minion to test on (over and over again, bwahahaha)

GFS sloted with 5 hecacomb (change of neg) and CI a/d
it also has 5 x fire damge Dot I usualy get 2-4, so i went average of 3
obviously the more these are counted the larger the buff difference appears

the proc damage is not affected by BU or FE = 85.66

    GFS =75.45+139.80+(19.41x3) = 273.48
    GFS BU =97.58+178.43+(24.70x3) = 337.06 (17.6% boost)
    GFS FE =97.58+186.13+(25.84x3) = 361.23 (24.3% boost)
    GFS BU+FE=112.72+212+(29.44x3) = 409.04 (33% boost)

so BU+FE = nearly double the boost, not just a 10% better than BU alone

plus with a 30 sec recharge on BU,
BU(10 sec)>FE(10 sec boost all, 20sec to fire)>BU again gives 40 sec of constant boost

plain fire/ gets only 20 sec of boost during same period.

so if you believe damage rules survival drools,
then fire/fire is very nice burst (esp if proc and crit hit at same time) and sustained damge

of course other AT's have better burst , stalker, but they have to learn how to get off that AS, not all can do it, with that long interuptable period, from hide, etc

but I don't know stalkers, never played one past 16

arena PVP, I do not know well,
I also assume Regin would be better for long boring fite klub duel, but I have never done that either
  7. Back on topic
    I have both a fire/regen and a fire fire scrapper at 50
Both have decent pvp build and a purples in GFS

    The fire/fire does more damage
I will post numbers in next post ( not at home computer)
It is not a huge difference , but about 10% more

The big difference is in the DURATION of the damage boost
By alternating BU/FE/BU I can maintaine 40 sec of damage boost
FE does not Inc accuracy but the boost is bigger

/fire does have a heal hit it when less than 50% hit phase run away heal again in 15 sec, wait for FE to recharge go back at it
Fairly hard to kill unless ganged up on

The /regin has regen at 800% or 56 hp/ sec
    And good rc too
So yeah near unkillable in 1 vs 1
And fire/ is good damage plus dot to keep the stalker on fire

    TP def, resist

There are 2 TP IO's that I know of
Sheild wall +res TP (currently >1 billion on WW)
    and
Gladiator armor's TP protect +3% def to all

I asume from the price it is valuable

but is it really that helpful

I have been Tp'd in zone, slight delay to retarget opponent, not a real big hassle

    why spend billions?

  11. I chose fire fire scrapper for my main pvp toon
I went with the theory that damage rules and survival drools

With 2 damage boost and if you hit a crit
    Few will survive
Bonus on the epic choice of flame mastery
Double boost and crit to immobile hold and blast

My tactic is find a suitable target and chase them down spamming the ring of fire
When the are immobilized close in and hit the hold/ char
Firey embrace / BU and greater fire sword
    Nothing has survived that combo

Great for dealing with stalkers and widows as the dot keeps them visible
I also keep fire aura on so the stalker is afraid to assign strike

I die alot in pvp but everyone does
And if 3 stalkers or 3 of anything coordinate and attack you nothing survives except for a regin with quick reflexes

In pve when teamed I have all the area attacks and by alternating BU and fire embrace I am perma damage boosted
It really help the team steam roll
Fire blaster damage up in their faces
And I can still 3 shot the boss when I need to
  12. Laserblitz_Emcc

    Best duo?!

My wife and I have played logs of duo combos
    And
When she is not around there are several I can play controlling both using our side by side computers

Best is two emp/ sonic def
    It eventually got boring
Never died once until lvl 34

More fun is any scrapper or brute with a def of your choice
Our fav is kin/sheild brute with emp/sonic def

My next combo will be a pair of fire/rads for AV melting

Or Ill/ rad troller with fire/Kin
For balanced large group and av killing
  13. My first thought seeing your title was why purple my WS
They awesome right out of the box

I have followed decks guide and play with the MFing WS mentality of all things at all times and repeat the mantra "more bodies, more bodies" to the point it freaks out my wife.

I have found 5 x Lotg is the first place I put my expensive enhancement into
Then put an absolute amazement in the ranged stun cone for another 10%
I am slowly buying a soul bound allegiance for my fluffy balls of doom

I am already at permanent hasten, permaneclipse perma sun mire and shooting for permanent 3 and permanent grav well

I am alpha slotted and went spiritual boost core for eventual 45% global rc of which 2/3 will bypass ED

Anything else that come with thAT is pure gravy

Speed boost me and I will nova every 45 sec
  14. I totally understand the whole defense thing
Even PFF is only " cute" in pvp
When I 1st started PVP in i12 I had a blaster with 3 slotted def in my PFF
And even with force of nature on I would get killed
    Sure it took more shots

Anyway the thing I was thinking about was powerboost as a self speedboost for quick get away or running down the guy trying to escape with his last few hit points
  15. Thx Dave
I played with mids last night after seeing some other builds out in the zone
And some amazing dancing performed on my dead body

The resist is significant if the numbers on kids are true in game
Anther odd tweak was powerboost instead of conserve power
The negligible def numbers bump up alot
As well as super speed top number

I know the uber posters say def is not that great in pvp since everyone has acc in the hundreds and more when build up is going
    But
If I was hit with a slow effect and needed to either chase or get away would the powerboost perform as advertised and give me the Dukes of hazard nitro boost that mids seems to imply?

I am willing to burn a respec just to try that out
  16. Thanks for the advice
I also found a good source for PVP build advice

When someone kills you and stands over you to gloat and does the pop dance emote
Take this time to target them hit info and read their power choices
Sure it does not help with sloting advice
( I could not afford anything the pros use anyway)

bONUS feature - you get to see some really nice dance moves you can also learn and use at the next family wedding

All the Psy/Em that killed me night had the cold epics
But they had flash freeze, not snow storm

Could anyone enlighten me to the useful mess of that power or is it just a have to take to get the others powers
  17. I am sorry
I forgot to start with my please do not be mean to mean preamble
    It goes like this

Casual player (39 month vet) seeking break from PVE
Enjoys low level arena PVP but is trying to learn zone PVP
Since it takes me a long time to level up to 50 I chose my AT specifically seeking the FotM
I do not grind/ farm or play the market so all my toons have no purples set, nor any LotG recharges as they are out of my price range

So I may be on the "easy button" AT and lower choice, it is severally slow on recharge and damage
Plus my learning curve is slower as I can only take time away from family to get in the zone about and hour week

Now I have been playing pvp for over a year ( translate 52 hours)
    And I do ok
My kill to be killed ration is 1:10
    Basic
My battle cry is "here comes the purple farm"
So I figure the regular PVP player have made enough loot of the purple drops they get from me to be polite enough to throw me a bone; a little advice on a build or a good tactical tip

I do dream of being able to have the time to level up more 50 toons to try another style but real life pays the bills and this is only my hobby

So, any experienced blasters have a moment to toss me a little advice
You will have to type in all caps because this old man (44) is starting to develop vision problems
  18. I have been running my Psy/Em with force epic and not getting much out of it as far as save my keyster so I can run ( when phase shift is down

Am I using bad tactics ( semi noob aka " one who knows how much he does not know")
Bad timing ( old man too slow at this twitch intensive pvp)
Or the wrong epic choice for my power choices/ AT

I have been considering change to cold epic
Snow storm looks like it would slow down the target so I can get off a full attack chain then run away
  19. This is the best PVP advice I have ever read
Both the OP and the reply
This has been my experience exactly
If you are new to PVP read this go play and come back and read it again

    My story
New to coh i12 had fun built an awesome Energy/ Em blaster took him to 50 the "old fashion way and earned lots of accolades etc
Decided to go to RV and try that out
    Whole new game
Went to the PVP board and got lots of advice
Used all my respec on different builds
Never had a satisfying time playing PVP
But I enjoyed trying to learn something difficult

I then made a new toon a PVP fotm fire/regen
I leveled fast and spent billions on the build and finally had fun playing, winning
It also took 3 respecs to get the build right for my play style but that is part of the game

My final opinion of PVP in CoX is it like race car driving
You have to decide what kind if racing you like to do
Then spend billions to tweak the max performance out of your machine because the guy you are racing against is doing the same thing
    team PVP is like NASCAR
Fight club (toe to toe) is like drag racing
Zone is like a speed racer cartoon
    Zone is like a spee
  20. Sanct, thanks for the i19 build
I have a fire/regen that uses a build similar to your earlier post except I did not use tough but I did use boxing 5 slotted to place the purple stun set for the 10% recharge
Please tell menwhy you went dark instead of weapon mastery epic?
I llllllove my webnade for downing flyers and slotting grav anchor for another cheap 10% recharge. Plus the target drone is smexy
  21. This guide really helped improve my warshade a lot
I have managed to craft a permahasten build on mids using only 1 "cheap" purple absolute amazement and 5 Lotg recharges. The build will be close to 3 billion at current market prices, but doable. Cheaper to pay a kin to sb ya I guess, but you would also have perm Eclipse and perm human sunmire.
  22. I was once on a team, where the self imposed rule was if your character died in battle, you deleted him/her. No hosp, base Rez or wakies, just delete.

It adds a lot of adrenaline and "emotion" to the game.
Everyone got real sad when someone died and tried their best to not let it happen.
    sloppy play was not tolerated.

we made it into the mid 20's, my highest was 24
I heard of a guy called Top Dog who made it to 50.

I will play on any server, and we can work out a best time to play as a team

team work is key and any AT and powerest can work, although some combo's help more than others

If interested lets start a discussion and pick a server and time to meet.

if a character dies, you can make a new toon, level up to 6-8 on your own, get the rocket pack for easier travel, then join the rest of the team by the next "team night", that way you can keep playing with the group.
  23. Ok Sanct, I have been following along with you the whole time and reading all the advice

definately some conflicting advice, because there are so many aspects of pvp

I have build for you that contains some of everyones advice

plus my onw ideas from a whooping 1 week of playing my fire regen on freedom zone pvp

focused on these in order RC/regen/dam buff

The Rc (+135) allows me to fire off scorch every 1 sec, since it has the highest dam/sec, I thought this would be good
my burst damage attack is GFS for about double damage (please crit, please)

The RC also has me in perma dull pain, meaning perma max HP 2400
and recon (54% HEAL) is up every 17.8 sec

My base regen is 728% and 1722% with Instant healing

I also fit in 2 +end proc, could fit in a 3rd if needed but it would ding me RC a tad.

I took FSC as a mule for some 10% regen, since I only need 2 attacks

I still have on question, (cuz I am still noobish) do I need confront/Taunt?
and what is it's tactical use in PVP, zone and arena, 75% range reduction and makes my target have to reacquire/retarget me again. yes very annoying, maybe remove FSC for taunt?

    Emcc's Fire/pain

Ok I have added thing from advice here, and Boomie's post and my limited experience hunting Corr as a scrapper

    I have 2 build
1st is a crazy attempt to fit all the buff stuff on one toon and live off of flares ONLY for damage

2nd has blaze substituted for Anguishing Cry for when the target is in scrouge damage level

  25. I am in the same boat as Sanctorium

I have my newly finished lvl 50 fire regen built for the sole purpose of joining in on the zoned pvp goodness that freedom has become

I have followed most of the advice here and I am learning how to play zone pvp with over 20 toon running around . It resembles a WW2 dogfight with MM acting like safe zones/aircraft carriers with corrs and Dom sortie ing out to engage hero toons and try to lure them to the multi MM death trap and stalkers lurking about like klingon battlecruisers decloaking 2-3 at a time to wipe you out if you pin down one of the corr or dims and try to slug it out with them

sanctorium please understand what survival means in that environment

you have to kill quick hit phase and heal as you run away
    rinse repeat
sometimes that Dom you webnaded was bait for a team of stalkers and you have to quick witha heal if only one or phase if more than one
occassionaly if run down a villian and he did not have protection and I get a nice little "mini duel and get a clean kill
better is when the team leader calls out abtarget and you gang up on one or someone kills the MM and that destroys their safe haven

    chaos beautiful chaos

but survival is have the right tools and strategy to deal with multiple threats in an extremely Fluid situation

I did experiment with more resist (just for you) in the form of oranges and the wedding band temp power
yeah it did take the sting out of the stalkers AS but 3 at once is still insta kill due to timing and lag
