Where are the PVP guides thread
there is no guide for i13 pvp
PvP 2.0 Guide (in progress)
1. your powers perform differently while in a pvp zone. you will be lost, clueless and pwnd for a while.
2. there is way more Travel Suppression in pvp than in pve.
3. Diminishing Returns has made most defense powers laughable and has killed the role of buffers. Melee toons benefit more from buffs. Mids' does not show numbers for DR.
4. the more you heal within x amount of seconds the less effective it is because of Heal Decay.
5. 99% of Slow powers suck because they removed -Max Run Speed.
6. basically all toons have the same mez capabilities now.
7. single target attacks do more damage in pvp. Some attacks are good and make sense but some suck and don't make sense as far as damage is concerned.
8. there are less viable builds now.
9. making a halfway decent pvp build now will require an investment of many billions and require getting accolades.
10. you know pvp is really bad because all of the fanbois and fancatgirls who trolled upset pvpers during i13 all think pvp sucks now as well
11. poor Castle, sorry dude. really.
12. Posi has made promises to improve pvp since issue 13 but has not followed through so it looks like the dev team does not care or are not capable.
13. no mez protection only mez resistance.
14. there is more info but i'll work on it when i have time.
15. when sunstorm was a red name he/she said that they changed pvp because new people could not win at pvp and they wanted new people to get kills so they could get the low drop rate and expensive to buy DRed pvp ios.
16. more to come.
A very sad story about War Witch and the neglected kitty. http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=219670

A PvP guide would be an excellent idea - except for a few small problems.
1> The 15 or 20 guys who actually do PvP already know how (more or less)...
The other 100,000 players in the game don't care to know how - regardless
of whatever changes the Devs make (if any).
2> In it's simplest form the guide would be:
A> Kill whomever you can, however you can
B> Don't let anybody else do step A to you...
The problem with that is: How you do A changes *radically* depending on
what AT you're running, and where you are (BB, SC, RV, arena).
The second problem with that is - B is impossible ... unless you avoid PvP
altogether (which 99+? % of the player population already does)
3> Ask the 15 or 20 guys who actually PvP about builds, and you'll get 15
or 20 opinions, often about the same AT's, many of which are completely
contradictory (if not outright illogical) covering the entire range of
performance from "awesome sauce in a can" to "sucks so bad that it
would lose even with Dev God-Mode".
So, with that firmly in mind, Here's Your Sign...err Guide.
* Take your Favorite AT, built as best as you're willing to do it.
* Learn it really well - this will improve your enjoyment of PvE.
* Forget what you learned about it for PvP - That almost certainly won't work.
* Build for as much HP, Dmg and Recharge as you can. Stealth is never
bad either, and arguably critical for squishies.
* Go into PvP KNOWING you're starting from scratch and you're going to
die a lot. If you're a team player - grab a team ... or not (it probably won't
change this point all that much either way).
* Ignore *everything* you hear in broadcast, and 80% of what you read here
(including this post)
* Try to kill somebody. Try not to die. But MOST important - try to enjoy yourself.
Refer back to the prior two points - a LOT - if you find yourself struggling a bit
with this point.
That's all I got.
Cheers,
4

This is the best PVP advice I have ever read
Both the OP and the reply
This has been my experience exactly
If you are new to PVP read this go play and come back and read it again
My story
New to coh i12 had fun built an awesome Energy/ Em blaster took him to 50 the "old fashion way and earned lots of accolades etc
Decided to go to RV and try that out
Whole new game
Went to the PVP board and got lots of advice
Used all my respec on different builds
Never had a satisfying time playing PVP
But I enjoyed trying to learn something difficult
I then made a new toon a PVP fotm fire/regen
I leveled fast and spent billions on the build and finally had fun playing, winning
It also took 3 respecs to get the build right for my play style but that is part of the game
My final opinion of PVP in CoX is it like race car driving
You have to decide what kind if racing you like to do
Then spend billions to tweak the max performance out of your machine because the guy you are racing against is doing the same thing
team PVP is like NASCAR
Fight club (toe to toe) is like drag racing
Zone is like a speed racer cartoon
Zone is like a spee
Laserblitz
"Kicking digital a$$ and taking "trademarked by NCsoft" names since 2007"
If you see a rainbow costume or named "Emcc" it is me
Where did it go? Shouldn't it be stickied?
