It varies depending on server. However for Virtue the RWZ is generally the best option.
Go to Team - Find Member.
Change the level to 41-50.
Find where most of them are - in the RWZ or in Pocket D. Those seem to be the two places leagues form. go there.
Also, find your server's global channels (check down in the server forum.) Trials will often be announced in the global channels listed for your server there.
The way you're "supposed" to do it is use the LFG dialog. Open that (it's next to Team and League on your chat menu) and add yourself to the queue. Theoretically, that should add you to a BAF within three minutes.
Realistically, everyone is making pre-formed Leagues and then joining the queue, which kills the chances of a single person getting on the team. So what you want to do is get on your server global channels so you can learn when folks are forming up, and then head to RWZ or Pocket D as appropriate to join the team.
A lot of them get formed up in the RWZ. You might want to try joining the global channel "Virtue TFs 2010" or is it 2011 now? I can't remember.

I have run around in atlas and peregrine island (on Virtue) broadcasting "Looking for B.A.F." for an hour and I get no response and no help.
