  1. I just saw my start date Aug 7, 2004. Wow spent a lot of time and energy on this game. I'll certainly miss it.

Thanks to all the folks, devs, community mgrs and players who have made this an amazingly good experience.

  2. Awesome, thanks for this Kat.
  3. I agree with most of what RogerWilco said.

I understand a lot of people's preference for streamlined simplicity of iWork. For personal use I would certainly recommend those. But if you do a lot of file sharing with coworkers then Office is definitely the way to go. Office 2011 is very stable and reliable. If you will still be using Windows computers off and on, then the similarity between the apps will help a lot.

I couldn't function in my job without a VM package like Fusion or Parallels. I would not encourage its use on an Air though. If you still have a Windows work desktop computer then remote controlling it would likely better serve your needs. MS Office includes the Windows RDC client. Though I think it may even be available as a download from MS' website.

I think you will be tearing your hat to shreds in annoyance for the first couple months with this computer. At some point in the next 6 months you'll wonder how you ever survived without it.

Finally buy a big external USB hard drive and a large powered USB hub you can keep on your desk at work. Hook up a USB keyboard and mouse to it as well. Time Machine is one of the best implementations of a backup system you can possibly imagine. USE IT!
  4. That was an awesome and moving story. Thank you.
  5. Aww noooo! I took some time off work to coincide with this.
  6. Whirlwind from the Speed Power Pool is too annoying to consider ever trying the power to even find out if it's useful.

As several have already mentioned all the Speed pool powers could use an f/x revisit.
  7. My very first character was an ice/storm controller. CoH had been out maybe 1-2 months. A number of my RL friends were playing. By the time I got the game installed and updated it was after midnight. So I was feeling pretty goofy. I made a controller without any idea what I was getting into (controllers and dominators should come with a warning label )

I used that silly metal witchbladesque costume and named it after my wife as a joke. Knowing I'd make another character later. (It was such a relief when I finally got to Icon and changed the costume.) In my effort to keep up with my friends that became my main since I didn't have time to level up an alt and still be able to play with them. (Did sidekicking even exist yet?)

It was a love/hate relationship that turned into my first 50 and received the bulk of my play time before I took a couple year sabbatical for another MMO. After my return other alts have taken my time but it's still my main badge hunting character.

Dude your alternates are awesome too! Great work! I want to see all of those around Paragon City.

Did anyone notice the image for our new dev Second Measure they posted on facebook? Nice eagle head there in the screen shot from the character screen. I'm guessing someone's getting his wish at a future date.

I'm very sad to see you go. But I'm glad to hear you plan to keep playing.
  11. That is so awesome, I actually teared up while reading it. Grats to both!
  12. I love those new auras. I can't wait for this pack. Kudo's to the animation team!
  13. I vote for option 1, replacement. I would even say I'd be fine with core replacement of the art for the ones that are simple cleanups like your t-shirt example. I probably wouldn't be offended if my older costumes pieces were automatically changed. It's nice that you give us plenty of costume tokens to fix things with.

I can understand a few ultra popular pieces being left behind with updated secondary versions. The rest can vanish completely.

It can get rather tedious having to manually fix so many costumes on so many alts when 90% of the time I'd want the old replaced with the new.
  14. Small changes to existing zones make all the difference to me. Makes the world feel more dynamic and real. Zone revamps are great, but they don't have to come in major renovations like Faultline (which I loved the evolution of that).

If you implement small graphic changes to old zones bit by bit over time you can end up with a total revamp in the end. Plus it will feel more real. New and varied store front windows would make a big difference too.
  15. Let us not forget the incredible number of hours that can vanish in the costume creator alone.
  16. Good luck with your new position!

Yeah, 5 and 6 are interchangeable. "Twoey" is about as close to Jack as you can get and not have the same model. I love ice, and I love plants, but their pets have always left me kind of feeling bleh. I really need to break down and level up a grav and Stoney some day.

Storm is an often underrated secondary. It works well with most primaries. Having done both a fire/rad and an ice/storm. I'd have to say though the fire/storm synergies sure seem to be there in a major way.

I do have a bunch of Hami-O's around from the old pre crafting days. I only included things like that Grav Anchor and the Numina/Miracle sets for long term planning purposes. I'll probably use the Doctored Wounds set for now. I got lots of those already.

Yes, +dmg is nice but you already ditch a LOT of damage after setting containment. And hold duration is not really an issue since most mobs should be dead in a few seconds.
A lot of my IOs are budget driven. I just figured better scattered useful bonues than a lot of useless ones.

    Good point. I'll adjust that.

I didn't realize that, thanks. I was just looking for something affordable and Force of Feedback has good set bonuses and is cheap.

If it just minimizes some of the knockback that'll be good enough for me for now.

Yeah I don't expect to be a real "farm build" I just figure it might be a functional starting point to start building from with my budget.
  22. I've perused the various posts and thanks to a nice PM response from Local_Man I think I'm ready to have my build looked at. I am an old returning player and don't have a lot of cash at present. I'm hoping to use this toon for rectifying that somewhat.

Is this a functional build for large spawn groups?
