  1. Also, most banks set you up with a debit card that you can use when you open a checking account, so long as it has a charge card logo on it, you can use it as well.
  2. 1. Shared storage? Capital idea. I also play Lord of the Rings Online and they have an upcoming Adventure Pack that will include shared storage for your characters. I don't recall if it is restricted to just the characters on one server, but that would make most sense.

    2. Kill servers? Bad idea, as others have already pointed out. Population is down on smaller servers? I believe that is a perception issue. I played on Pinnacle last night and did a quick /search and got back a result of "107 players (truncated)" Most of the players that were listed were in a mission.

Granted when I searched for teammates to play with, I used the "Looking for anything" filter and only one player popped up and he didn't respond when I sent a tell. If I really put forth an effort, I could have formed a team, but it wasn't necessary.

So, there were plenty of players on Pinnacle at 10:30 pm Pacific time. I just don't get it when people say that a server is dead.
  3. I have that message at the bottom of my login screen as well. I am playing on a 4 year old computer and recently upgraded by adding nVidia FX5200 GPU. The latest driver update for that model is 05/06/2008.

So, based on all this information, that message at the bottom of the login screen is probably checking on the date of your last driver update and if it is an older date, it generates that message.

If you are playing with the latest driver for your GPU and are not experiencing any problems with it, you should be able to safely ignore that message at the bottom of the login screen.
  4. Welcome to the game!

Here's to hoping you stick around, it's a great game and there are a lot of great players out there looking for someone new to join their teams.

I believe he is referring to the new Difficulty settings. More level 50 players are out in regular content soloing missions and getting more purple drops, hence more purples are available on the market and price is dropping.

Of course, I could be wrong.

You still have to be level 45 to be able to start on the Lady Grey Task Force.

If the hypothetical bug affects regular missions but not MA ticket drops, that factoid should limit the search parameters in some respect.

Has anyone tested Developer's Choice missions specifically? That's a hybrid animal that could be different enough to offer some insight.

(Sorry to offer advice and not help, but I simply don't have the time right now.)
While I haven't done any intensive research on Ticket drops, I recently took a level 4 toon through a single mission in AE and got decent ticket drops throughout (about same I got before I16) and end of mission netted me 90 tickets. All told, about 178 tickets? Don't recall exactly, not at home, so can't check. This was against Custom Critters, to boot.

Duck Dim Sum, you are correct.

I appreciate how much you guys listen. You spend a lot of time here on the forums, and endure a lot of abuse from people who have no idea what they're talking about, all in an effort to hear what we are saying. And while we all know how fruitless it is to try to please everybody, it is quite apparent that you do care what we think – which seems common sense as we are your paying customers, but I have infrequently experienced this from other vendors. Not only do you solicit player feedback, you act upon it. You guys have implemented changes based on player input, you try to keep us in the loop as much as possible regarding the thought processes behind the end results, you make yourselves available to the player-base on a scale I have never observed elsewhere. Of course I'm not telling you anything you don't already know, but I want to let it be known just how much your herculean effort is appreciated.

I truly love this game. I've spent hundreds, or perhaps thousands of hours logged in, and when I was (for whatever reason) unable to log in, I've spent additional hours with City-related activities: build planning, forum-reading, art. There are so many reasons I love City; it appeals to many distinct sides of my personality. And that in and of itself is a reason to love this game: There are innumerable ways to have fun, different goals to strive for, distractions to amuse. I feel like the game is a Tweaker's Paradise, though I must admit I may simply be biased. In any case, you have given as much control of as many aspects as possible to the players, and you continue to invent new ways to give us more choices, whether with customization, proliferation, content, or features.

Also a heartfelt “Thanks!” to everyone else who keeps the game running smoothly (or our reasonable approximation thereof). Moderators, customer service, even the admins and office workers (if Paragon Studios has such), everyone involved in keeping the whole thing going. And to all of the subscribers, whether we agree on The Issues or not, because it is our combined support that keeps the servers on; I couldn't do it alone. (Though I'd try!)

    Thank you for this game.

    Most Sincerely,
    Kelly L Creighton, aka @kwsapphire

    Joke

Funny hard to find mission door story.

I got invited to a team for radio missions. I was in Atlas Park and mission was in Brickstown. I used my Mission Transporter to get there quickly.

When I arrived, the team was milling around and my entrance functioned like it usually does, like you are exiting from the mission into the main zone.

When I turn arround, I see the archway that leads to the ground level door of the Brickstown AE building.

The radio mission door was located at a building that had been replaced by the AE building. There were team members that were looking around for an underground entrance, but they stopped when I announced that I had used Mission Transporter, knowing that always takes you right to door.
  12. To be honest, I really don't get the concept of doorsitting.

I pay for this game to play it, not to turn on the game and sit there and do nothing.

    Joke

If all else fails, purchase Mac Edition and use the Mission Transporter power. It will take you right to the door of the mission.

Another option is to broadcast for help on a global channel for someone who knows how to get to that mission door. Most players are generally friendly and I'm sure you can find someone who would be willing to team with you to help with the mission.
  14. Coming from someone who doesn't feel entitled to get anything...

I appreciate getting anything new that improves the game.

Power Customization? Not such a big thing for me. I took a quick peek at it with a new toon, but settled for default colors. I haven't bothered to make any changes on any other toons.

Super Sidekick? I tend to solo more than I team, but I teamed a little bit this last weekend and the teaming was significantly improved by it, at least for me.

Powerset Proliferation? Haven't had time to make a new toon with one of the new powersets yet.

I have been busy with overtime since I16 released, so I haven't really had the time to dig deep into what this release has to offer, but I appreciate getting anything new the makes the game a better experience for me.
  15. Welcome to COH!

It sounds like you purchased the Good VS. Evil Edition. Nowadays, any version will give you access to both sides.

Don't be afraid to explore or ask questions, there are plenty of helpful players, both in the forums and in the game. If someone is rude to you when you ask question, just put them on ignore and move on.

I'll toss my global in the contact list. I am @Kryhavoc in the game.

    Serious Question

But, taking on those 300 bosses is really designed around taking on Lts and Minions too. If that wasn't the case, there would be more missions that have only Bosses in the non-AE content, and in fact there are some that people farm.

If you CAN'T take on 300 bosses in the non-AE content, then maybe it was the AE all along, and those bosses aren't really as tough as "real" bosses. Risk versus reward, easier foes should give less XP.

If it was the challenge, and you liked that, that's fine, but risk versus reward. Many players can't possibly defeat foes like that. So if you were at the same risk as those players, you wouldn't be able to defeat them either. You are able to defeat them, ergo your risk is less. Your "hard work" is no harder than someone else defeating a challenge they find equally difficult.

The question is, should you get extra XP, for slotting IOs, and creating custom critters, and finding, well, "tactical advantages"? My question is, if you work so hard to create these incredible builds, farm for huge amounts of influence, and only end up making yourself bored because the game becomes too easy, why don't you just start over and not use any IOs? Why don't you play something gimped, like a petless Mastermind? A challenge is a challenge, whether you're facing 300 bosses, or 3 minions. Is it knowing that there's nothing in the game that can compete with you, unless you make it yourself?
    This.

A challenge is what you make it to be. It doesn't always have to be everything min/maxed.

Another example for a challenge? Create a MAN build. Take normal powers until you can take power pool powers, then just take power pool powers. You can use up to 4 separate power pools to take powers from.
  17. Do lap dances count as farming?
  18. So, I was playing a level 10 toon in Ae Building in Cap and received a reverse team tell. I figured why not. The player was level 10 in Mercy. I asked him to come to Cap. When he finally got to Cap via Port Oakes (new player, he didn't know about the helicopter service), he said, "You got all the way there, wow!"

I got a mite suspiscious and asked, "You do have your Raptor Pack for flying, right?"

    New Player, "No, what's that?"

Me, "Stop, head back to Port Oakes, I will meet you there."

I then took him through the 3 radio missions, giving bits of advice, and just as we got the bank mission (for Atlas Park, yay), he said he had to log off. I was sad to see him go because we were at the point I was trying to get him his Raptor Pack and I gave a couple of pieces of information.

Me, "Ok, when you do the bank mission, destroy everything that is not purple on the way and stop when you see a Longbow say, "Freeze."

I am hoping he was ok, but that was a bit of fun, teaching someone about the game.
  19. Well, I ran on a team for a level 20ish radio missions in Talos on Sunday morning. Four missions and only one recipe for all four missions. At certain points, I was using a diff of +2 and +4 members for myself.

    Recipes

Maelstrom's Fury: It is available in the 20-35 level range.
Triage: It is available in the 10-30 level range.

I assume you mean you were trying to find recipes for a higher level than the level 20 you already have slotted?

I am not sure why you couldn't find any, what was the level range you were searching for for your replacements? If is was above the levels mentioned above, that would be one reason.

Perhaps the level range you were searching had none for sale. For Triage, try searching for 21-30 and for Maelstrom's Fury try searching for 21-35 and use For Sale Only as a filter.

I find http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Enhancement_Sets to be extremely useful. It lists the various enhancement sets in order of least powerful to most powerful.

So, you get a Visa Gift card, give the numbers to your friend and they use it to purchase the booster pack.

Another option, IIRC, is you can use Paypal to pay for stuff as well. You can send money from your Paypal account to your friend's Paypal account and they can pay for the booster pack with Paypal.
  23. The implied mechanism is the change from hero to villain or villain to hero is done in Praetoria. After you are fully heroic or villainous, you can only go the that side.

So a Villain who becomes a hero will be able to visit Atlas Park, but would not be able to visit Mercy Island unless they became villainous again.

I may be off the mark, but that seems to be how it will be set up from what I have read and seen.
  24. Yes, another Double XP Weekend has been promised.

No, we don't know when it will be yet.

They usually announce the date well in advance of when it will happen.
  25. Did the badge award show in your chat messages?

A known issue is that it will be awarded, but not show in the badges until you zone. I have run into this with a couple of day job badges.
