Hmm apologies, i think i may have discovered a whole new level of sarcasm with my last post...it's not my fault i'm at work and i fight daily against the crushing, soul destroying boredom that threatens to lead me to violent crime.
On a brighter note, the elec armour in the Mu patron set does look really cool, theres a link to a little vid in the dominator thread i'm too lazy to look up. -

Looks pretty good, if a tad over-paranoid about endurance. End redux in particular suffers alot from diminishing returns, even before ED. Usually after the 2nd end redux the difference is minimal, and in the toggles in particular, after one end redux, you get a very small saving. I worked out that a second end in all my toggles would save me .09 eps...so nothing really. I would personally put some acc back into your attacks instead and not run focussed acc all the time, thats the real drainer there. MA has an inherrant acc buff so i'd go with say 2 acc, 1 end in the attacks ontop of damage and that will hit everything but pure def sets using their "elude" power, which case you have focussed acc as a backup, not to mention focus chi (slot with tohits). Also you dont want to be left flailing at thin air if you get detoggled somehow.
In many cases you will only need to hit a few times to toggle-drop, so make sure to pay careful attention to when to use FA and which def toggles you need to be running.

Ok, so the sharks are new, but the dark and elec sets are completely rehashed, and because of concept will be the ones i go for on my two lvl 40s
The numbers that someone posted the other day about the values on the armours (on dominators) were actually quite impressive though (about 28% with one SO) so at least they aren't derivative AND [censored] -

Now wasn't that exciting. I anticipate Spark will post his thoughts in the near future, as he, jon and myself has a summit meeting yesterday and ironed out the details. I would post them here but tbh i wasn't paying that much attention, but it's rivetting stuff.
It seems our new SG activity, the Wolfpack (a group of militery based concept toons) is off to a successful start, with most of us reaching the heady heights of lvl 18-19 over the weekend. Revelling in ones total gimpedness has proven to be more fun than i'd have anticipated.
We've had a rather drastic round of kickings, removing those people that hadn't been on for a long time, making lots of room in the SG. No doubt we will embark on a recruitment drive soon and get more of that lovely prestige coming in. Personally i'd like earn enough to upgrade our toilets from the mark1 public services to the glitzy mark2 public services with working soap dispenser, 3 million well spent i think.
Lastly can i voice a big, hearty 'meh' to the rehashed, recycled and thoroughly underwhelming new patron powers....if i wanted a pet that lasted 4 minutes every 15 i'd buy a box of kittens and get my golf clubs.

Ok so i lost fly altogether, according to my planner it's actually cheaper to run CJ and acrobatics together than hover with one end redux in it. This is also cheaper for slots as the whole leaping pool requires only one extra slot in Acro, where flight would need 3 speed in both hover and fly for me to be happy with it, along with endurance. Can't be sure these numbers are correct of course, but my endurance was certainly much better with the leaping pool.
Fly certainly isn't cheaper than hover with one end redux, with 3 it's still on a par with TK....i'd last all of 10 seconds at that rate.
I may have made a mistake slotting powerbolts. On my next respec i might put the damage into mesmerise instead. I beleive it has a similar BI and as i use it all the time as a mez i may as well have it do damage at the same time (and save me end by cutting powerbolt out of my attack chain).
Levitate does just slightly less damage than bonesmasher, as well as the very useful knock-up, this is definately a keeper. I have also found powerpush very useful, with this and levitate cycling i can keep a mob (or player) without KB res off their feet indefinately cycling ST attacks inbetween. Aslo, remember i'm very short on slots....powerpush is a one slot power, though i might add a second acc (it has +40% anyway) at lvls 40-50.
Sniper bolt i had before the respec and found it mostly useless. It's debateable even on a blaster now that it cant drop something in one hit. In PvP it would a) root me for 4 seconds and b) slow down my domination bar. Also...as it stands i'd be able to give it one slot....so i think i'll pass.
Anyone who has experience with mind control in PvE or PvP will tell you that you want both the ST and mass confuse. Confuse reeks havoc in pvp, and the two together lets me confuse a boss and his minions in two hits in PvE.
Terrify is a good AoE damage power for a controller with containment, but i tried to make mind/nrg an AoE set with whirling hands and damage in terrify...but it just doesn't work, it's terrific at ST damage...i think it's best to stick to that.
So far very happy with this build....just want to swap the damage from powerbolt to mesmerise now, luckily freespec coming up -
Ok well i did it, with some changes to the build i posted earlier. Took her in the arena with my good and willing friend, a Katana/SR scrapper and lost 5-7...which i shall consider a success as it's my first time and i didn't even think i'd hit him. I also soloed a mission on the 2nd highest setting, something i've not done before with not a scratch. The AoE holds work fine without the hold duration, i had time to kill off each minion in turn with powerboost before any broke free. Heres what i went for in the end;

I think i managed to confuse him successfully twice...but terrify and TK really shine, even if they did drain my end fast. -
Ok i have decided that for the run from 40-50 i will be focussing mainly on PvE (i still hope to be viable at least in PvP but it's not a priority) and that i will be moving a lot more slots into attacks, to make the toon more interesting to play (basically a poor blapper with great holds). This should hopefully make for safe if slow soloing and still make me very useful on teams. As such i've chosen to remove duration from the AoEs and rely on powerboost, and the team to wipe out the mobs fast. Note if i choose to PvP heavily the rechage in the attacks will be swapped for a second acc. Your comments please;

Also note confuse is lightly slotted atm, for PvP i'd hope to put more in, and i needed some one-slot powers, so i thought powerpush would be handy, particularly if a vital hold misses (this could easily be mass hyp instead for those "oh my" moments) -
I'm looking to respec my lvl 40 mind/nrg dominator, who currently has terrible endurance issues solo and PvP. My problem is basically a serious lack of slots. I've 6 slotted all my main holds, leaving no room for end redux in my attacks.
As i can get powerboost at lvl 10, is it viable to forego hold/confusion/fear duration in my AoE holds, as powerboost will double them. My reasoning being (in theory);
1) When solo i wont be using the AoE holds that often as mind has a great ST chain.
2) The above applies to PvP too, where AoE holds are only good for stacking magnitude.
3) Teams in CoV tend to burn through mobs so fast that having hold duration and powerboost could be overkill?

ok sounds good, got 3 recharge atm and it's a great power....but still, what does the hold duration do exactly? Is it time the mobs are held or duration the gasses are down for?

Hello all,
So i'm having a fine and dandy time with my new earth/emp troller and have recently picked up the main hold, volcanic gasses. How on earth do you slot this one? I have looked up countless guides but keep getting different information.
Most say acc isn't needed, which would seem odd on a hold, but i must say i haven't noticed an acc problem, even in PvP. Most say either just 3 recharge or 3 recharge and 3 hold duration.
I know this hold works in a strange "pulse"...so what effect does hold have? Is it how long the gasses stay, or how long the mobs are held when it gets them?

I got Ms. Fortune to lvl 50 at about the same time as Shnyet hit and we have both rolled MA/SR scrappers....great minds or what
Anyway...bit OT that. I plan to 3 slot everything with defence, even CJ (may seem silly but it gives me 4% extra overall and i have the slots and run it ALL the time)
I have found SR to be a fun if frustrating set...just don't look at the /regen scrappers you may team with and you'll be just fine
As for the numbers on the passives..they are pretty meh...but hey every little bit counts with defence. Oh and on a somewhat related topic i struggled with end issues even with a redux in each toggle until i got around to sticking one in each attack...amazing what a difference that makes. -

I must add my own very special thanks to Cold, DC and Mister, with whom i've spent every one of the last 50 lvls with Ms. as well as approximately 50 more lvls as various CoH alts, and 110 lvls of villains....so well over 200 lvls we've done together.
I know if it weren't for you guys i would have left the game ages ago, but no matter how many toons we roll i just know theres gonna be another set. We team so easily together now it's almost unreal and thats what keeps this fun for me.
I always laugh at people in RL who tell me that friends online are not real friends, as they clearly have no idea. I count each one of you as a personal friend and i've lived each important moment of my RL this past year (and more) online with you too.

Strange, everything i have ever heard about mental blast has been awful. Is it different in the troller epics as i know that /psi defenders usually feel quite resentful at having to take it at lvl 1. -
According to my hero builder freezing rain has a recharge of 34.1 seconds with 2 recharge and 30.42 seconds with 3, so i dont see how i can justify an extra slot for less than 4 seconds difference (assuming my planner is correct).

The def debuff is a late addition as i had 4 slots "spare" to put in it. I decided against a third recharge as its the difference between about 34-36 seconds recharge and 30 seconds. If a team can't wait the extra 5 seconds for my debuff then they can do without
I added def with the idea of increasing my PAs accuracy as i can't spare acc slots for it, but these slots would go in very late and may well get moved if i'm not having any accuracy issues.
The end in rain is a very good idea and may well be the way i will go. I cant spare an end redux to go in lightning storm (3 recharge 3 damage atm) so without some extra end spread around my powers i may find myself running low after my opening volley.
BTW do KB enhancers increase the frequency of KB/KD or just the magnitute? -

Ok allow me to ask another question, about freezing rain. It is of course a fantastic power which really helps fill in the control gaps in illusion. I am very familiar with both EF and tarpatch, and i must say the -res effect of rain seems larger in comparison. I really notice a difference in how long i take to defeat a mob with and without it. Does anyone know the numbers on this? It would seem to be at least -30% to me. I currently plan to slot it 2 recharge 2 def debuff. -

Yeah i know Tclap isn't great, but i can make it perma with slots and it just adds to my AoE control with PA and freezing rain, so it's better than nowt and safe enough to use once the PA go in (/em crosses fingers) -
Ok, forgive me if this has been asked and answered before, but just what in the illusion control set apart from blind and flash (which i dont plan to take) sets up containment?
I am at lvl 25 with my illusion/storm and half a lvl away from spectral terror. Does this set up containment (and btw does terrify in the mind set?).
Also, i do plan to take thunder clap as it's recharge time is so much more humane than flash (i'm not running hasten), so does this set up containment or is it only primary powers?

but isn't hurricane repel rather than KB? (although it does kb if you run right into something). I THINK these are two different effects, though i'm not sure

Ok now this is just plain weird....just checked my planner again (may be the one you said) and now it wont allow acc. It definately did very recently (i.e. yesterday) so either it updated itself or i'm deep in the twiglet zone (wheres my medication!?!?). It would make sense to me for it to be autohit though as it's a final power and has a nasty recharge time. If thats true then it's sounding better again

Absolutely swap shadowfall for stealth. Not only is it's concealment greater than stealth it also offers resistance to energy/negative energy and psionic damage (one of the few things in the game that does). Slot it for endurance and damage resistance and learn to love it
Oh and whilst it doesn't stack with stealth it does with Super speed (but only in PvE) making you nearly completely invisable.
