If that's your goal, you'd be much better off organizing/joining Rikti Saucer Raids for the merit-per-kill Getting 300 merits for a single run is on the low end, with 500+ fairly average.
  2. Follow the links to the program and run them. For CoH Helper, once you download it, run it, then click 'Forum Output' and come back to the boards, create a new reply in this thread, and use Control+P to paste the output into the reply. Just follow the on-screen instructions for HiJackThis.
  3. Please run and post the output from CoH Helper and HiJackThis.
  4. IIRC, there's some Dev that's responsible for that type of stuff... One of them you should PM with the error.

The European Servers require a different client than the North American servers. You'll need the EU updater (Windows, OS X) to be able to play on the EU servers. The clients are pretty much 99.999% identical... it's a shame at the least the clients haven't been merged.
  6. Dark Blast would help reduce the enemy's chance to hit your team.
Dual Pistol's Toxic damage (one of the Swap Ammo options) includes -dmg, which would reduce the damage taken when they do hit.
Ice Blast includes slows, which reduces how often enemies can hit (as well as having a couple holds).
Psychic Blast also includes -Recharge, like Ice.
Elec Blast includes -End -Recovery can prevent enemies from attacking IF you can get them to zero.
Rad Includes -Def, which IMO is largely useless later in the game on its own (it can have the -Res proc slotted in it, though)
Sonic includes -Res, which makes your team do more damage (and combines well with +Damage buffs in a multiplicative fashion, as opposed to additive.

I'd say the most (de)buffertastic would be between Dark, Ice, and Sonic, and would depend sort of on your personal preference of style.

I'm not saying FA is a good power or a bad power. I'm just factchecking ya.
    They buffed it!?!?!?!?!?!

Ah, that's a possibility. Regardless, I'm testing to see how long my Night Widow will stick around on my Stalker right now... hopefully they've stealth-buffed Patron Pets!

Edit: No dice. NW died after 4 minutes.

  10. Looks like that's not working for everyone. See this thread for more discussion on the problem.

In that case, I'm going to guess that the EU Updater is likely crashing or getting its connection chain-reset. Likely have to wait until NC can track down the problem and fix it unless someone out there that has copies of both the updated client and old client is willing to create a diff-file and upload it somewhere for others to download and manually apply the diff. I've done this once in the past on the Training Room (with a diff between the updated Test and the Live client) when the TR updater was flat out dead and only a few people made it through.
  12. This worked for some people in another thread:

One thing you could try doing that might work is to delete the Coh.checksum file (located at either C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\Coh.checksum or C:\Program Files (x86)\City of Heroes\Coh.checksum on Windows (32bit and 64bit Windows, respectively). That should force it to get a new checksum and hopefully force it to patch the client.

They could have another character parked outside the geometry and used Recall to bring the others outside as well.

There's also other reasons you could appear outside the map, including a zoning glitch. Once I was zoning into the Hollows and activated teleport at the same time, and when I zoned into the Hollows I was at a seemingly random spot in the zone. I think I might have appeared under the zone and fallen, then hit the teleport net at the bottom and dropped in the restore point, all while the loading screen was still finishing.

The US client and the EU client are a bit different (IMO, they should merge the codebases), I'd really recommend against doing this as it could cause all sorts of confusion for the updater.
  16. Don't forget Full Auto has the longest animation of any power in the game. IMO, Assault Rifle is at least a bit subpar (before the Ignite nerf, I would have said it's par just a bit situational and niche-y). IMO, a set that's AoE heavy should be able to out AoE ST "heavy" sets, not lose on ST and AoE.

What do you mean it 'sees' it? Does it act like it's starting to download the patch, then skips over it? It's possible that the update server is having issues of some sort and is reseting the connections by mistake.

Also, are any of the people having trouble NA users, or is it just EU?

Ah... Zone Diving... my favorite past time! I still remember back when I was new to the game (having only... maybe 2 characters? definitely only one above 14!) finding a GIANT hole in Sharkhead... I showed it to a friend and I wanted to go in... but I was afraid of what would happen if I did (would my character get stuck and not be able to get out? Would I die 「debt was a concernt 」? Would my character be deleted 'cause it got corrupted?!?!?). Not sure when it got fixed, but it was pretty huge.
  20. Try closing and restarting the updater occasionally. It's possibly they haven't pushed the update out to the EU servers yet. You shouldn't need to restart (unless you just want to kill time).

Assisted Targeting doesn't work that great IME. Too often when I see people low on health and try to heal through them, they either have no target, an ally targeted, or their target is way too far away. I just had this problem a day or so ago when I was on my Kinetics, and was invited to a team. When I got to the mission, they were about to wipe and I tried to heal off the Tanker and at first he had no target, then when he finally did it was way out of range to get the heal.

Kinetics may have good values on the shiny green numbers, but it's not the most dependable heal and if you really need heals NAO you're better off depending on somebody that doesn't need a target (also fun to have the target die in the middle of the cast, so it still animates but does nothing! )

There's been holes in most every zone. Probably the most famous holes were when Skyway's roof was raised some feet up, allowing you just fly over the war walls, and go under and visit the as-yet-unreleased University, and the other being when Cimerora was first released there were holes all over the map. It was hard to walk to and from Mr. Mission Giver without falling through them
  23. A few questions:
    1. Are you using the game with Steam, or have used it through Steam?
    2. What operating system are you running?
    3. Could you please run CoHHelper and post the output here.
    4. And just for safe measure, run HiJackThis and post the output here.

These problems can be solved, we just need a bit more info about the environment.
  24. When they can enhance multiple aspects, they're a bit better than (lvl 50) common IOs. HOs (and SHOs, the same but 'synthetic') have largely fallen by the wayside, but are still useful as a suplemental enhancement to fill in any gaps left by set IOs (and obviously would fair better with just the generic non-sets).

There's a fair amount floating around on WW/BM, and they're usually not priced too horribly high (at least in terms of set IOs).

SB, on its own, is 100% entirely USELESS. What Speed Boost does, though, is make all your other powers far more effective, as they can be up more often, and be used with ill regard of the blue bar. The tools that could have prevented the team wipe, but were still recharging, are improved by Speed Boost and are up more often, and usable more often.

Speed Boost is the poster child of Force Multiplication
