Oh and the Vanguard freepac. They realy need to let the new folks or folks that missed this buy it with points. Nothing sells merchandise like Glowing swords.
Well the thing is, Ninja Run made my builds easier because I don't pick travel powers anymore (except on toons that have powers to spare but I think only Kheldians fit into this category for me - and my trapper because superspeed helps a lot). But yeah I wouldn't use NR if I had to have a travel power in my builds. Good thing I don't need travel powers after NR because I honestly never used any costume piece from that pack, I think they all suck

I'll look further into the Mutation costume pieces although I think I won't like them, all those blobbery mutation things NCSoft associates with mutants do not attract me much. But I'm liking the 'sound' of the power, everyone else has mystic fortune anyway and from what I read you'll be able to pick all the magic parts for 400 paragon points

Something you may want to consider for the Beast Pack is that, sure, it has a large number of items in it, but, they're not the kind of items that you're probably going to mix and match with a lot unless you play a *lot* of anthropomorphic animal characters, because it really amounts to a couple animal heads/tails and a whole bunch of animal patterned tights textures for the different body parts.
Good point, while I miss more animal and beastly options I don't think I'll make many anthropomorphic toons. Guess I was impressed by my friend's tiger scrapper I saw yesterday.

Oh I have the GvE btw, forgot to mention. But this one sounds sweet! I didn't like the costume pieces but I loved the descriptions on the mutations.

I saw a ingame friend with the beast pack... And according to paragonwiki there are over 60 new costume/faces/etc so it must be the most 'complete' pack out there in this aspect (besides coming with Beast Run but I already have Ninja Run which is the same, plus I wouldn't like all my toons running in all fours lol).

Oh and in the Repeat Offender Facebook group there's a doc about clarification of Paragon Points... Seems like I'd have to wait 2 months for one pack, so I'm gonna get one now, just undecided on which one. I like the magic costumes, the secondary mutation power looks cooler to me than mystic fortune - and at least on Freedom and Virtue you can't walk three steps without someone casting fortune on you so not a big deal if I don't have the power - but the beast pack has so many parts.... Oh decisions, decisions...

Oh about the Paragon Points-dollar equivalency (interesting stuff here, you can buy the magic costumes only for 400 points and the cape I loved at some trailer, the impervium one from the Origins Pack, for 100):

So I know that right now, 400 Paragon Points = $5.00 (USD) but what I don’t have an idea of is what exactly 400 Points can buy me.

As mentioned earlier, 400 Paragon Points is equivalent to $5.00 (US Dollars), and I’ve gone on record that 400 Paragon Points will allow players to buy a lot of “stuff”. I’ve listed a smattering of pricing examples below, including the new Signature Stories, that will hopefully give you a better sense of general Paragon Point values. Please note that these prices (and others in our Beta) are currently the *target* prices, and may change prior to City of Heroes: Freedom Launch.

20..........$0.25......................Wizard Beard (From the Magic Pack)

  3. Ok so I know I'm late to the party but I just got GR and by seeing the stats on City of Data....

    Cryo Ammo:
    • RunSpeed, FlySpeed, SpeedJumping -0.15 for 8s (0% chance)
    • JumpHeight, RechargeTime -15% for 8s (0% chance) [Ignores Enhancements & Buffs]
    Ice Blast:
    • JumpHeight, RechargeTime -20% for 10s [Ignores Enhancements & Buffs]
    • SpeedJumping, RunSpeed, FlySpeed -0.2 for 10s
(Ice Bolt is 6s, most others are 10s, BiB is 12s)

So... Cryo Ammo isn't bad comparing to Ice Blast in terms of secondary effects right? My DP/Fire is only level 8 and since I'm soloing to see the story arcs it seems more useful than Fire Ammo. Unless it's not a 100% chance, CoD says 0% chance so it must have some number that's mixed up. Is it a 100% chance or 25% chance like the KB from lethal?

(now that -7% damage debuff from Toxic ammo really needs to get dev attention cmon)
  4. I only had issues on my old mac mini (using the windows client) with intel graphics, but only when turning on cloak of darkness from dark armor. If the toon got 'too close' (like stuck on a wall or in an angle that forced her to appear in a big size) my framerate would suffer lots. That power must use a lot of particles/textures or whatever (toning down particle count didn't help btw), I had no issues with the warshade version or shadowfall or other cloaky powers.

Funny thing is, my computer was on medium settings (non ultra of course) and rikti raids and itfs were no biggie. Btw you should try to get on one of these events full of players/enemies, like a trial or something, to see if it's your GPU that's overloaded.
  5. The difference is noticeable, but IMO 17'' screens and up are for desktop replacements, not very handy to carry around.

This one is the bee's knee's for desktop replacement: http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np7282-...00-p-2881.html (edit: forget it, it's beyond your budget)

I ended up buying a new Mac but I was almost getting this one (15.6 inch) - http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np8150-...hm-p-2972.html

This one has a less powerful GPU but longer battery life for travels because it has the Optimus tech that allows it to switch with the integrated Intel GPU http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np5165-...hr-p-3063.html

(I'm a fan of Sager because they look like normal business laptops despite being gaming ones, I mean I wouldn't want to take one of these alienware glowing things to a meeting, plus they're smaller than normal gaming laptops - the price you pay is not having good speakers but if you see notebook forums - look for 'sager owner's lounge' on google - people are very satisfied with them)

    How is Stone/WP?

Oh I just had a 3-hour teaming session with my sm/elec (went up to 38 yay!) and my fury was always high, even tremor is good with BU+Fury (although I wouldn't pick in on a Tanker since you have Fault too, and Tremor usually is only middle of the road damage even on Brutes).

It's awesome, I got lost from the team and shredded red+pink mobs solo, you won't regret it. It has great sinergy with elec armor because of L. reflexes but Willpower will be great too especially since you picked stone fists, I skipped it, I use Boxing as a filler sometimes. Hasten is great but I see you got it. Problem is, with elec armor you'll suck up on blues until power sink (I don't know how much energize helps yet because I got to PS before the Elec armor changes, but anyway you only get it at 28 so still a long wait). And with good endredux I was using Power Sink most of the time to sap enemies since I have lightning field to help.

Well since you're WP and have Q.Recovery you may later even ditch stone fists and get gloom and darkest night instead of going overboard on endurance, but that's for you to find out when you get higher in levels, I have no WP toons .

BTW I also have a SS/Fire at 35 and despite loving Footstomp to death, I still feel stone melee is more smashy in general play and less boring because you have good mitigation and the attacks are great-looking (btw, use one of your costumes for lava, Fault looks great with the lava option). And besides the KD in Fault and Tremor, you can hold a boss with Seismic Smash, that works wonders for those hard hitting fellas.

Oh one more thing: my slotting for fault is 5 stupefys for the rech bonus but I also put a FF +Rech proc in there. I'm thinking about switching it to Tremor because I'm using it more than Fault (in the lower levels I used Fault a lot, not so much now) but you should find room for a FF + Recharge proc in one of the powers imho.
  8. OK NOW IT'S ON I MADE A NEW ONE ON VIRTUE

  9. I plan to do that on my next 2 Brutes I'm leveling but they're dark armor and they'll be using cloak of fear... So in your case I guess you might see how it goes, I'm level 12-15 o both (claws/da and dm/da) and since I'm used to play trollers and corrs (meaning I always watch my teammates bars, no matter what I'm playing) I'm noticing I'm the only one that is constantly out of end at these levels since inherent fitness.
  10. Kioshi

    How is Stone/WP?

Nah, with the fury changes you can lay down the hurt, my 37 Stone/Elec is the only 'high level' toon I bothered to respec into inherent fitness and did some IO'ing since I came back (too busy playing lowbies in Praetoria) and she's better than ever - with Fury decaying slower, I'm mass murdering and soloing at +2/x3 with bosses. Did a mayhem on these settings and it was hella fun.

No more 'no fury' moments like in a SF long ago when I had to tank for a group and spammed Fault - now you can have your cake and eat it too!

By the way, nice pairing with Willpower as Stone Melee is murder on the blue bar - this Brute is the only toon I ran out of end while speed boosted (in the SF I tanked) and when I got to 35 (before I left the game) and got Power Sink it was a game changer, and she's quite good on bonuses for her level. I'm a Dark Armor fan and would never roll a SM/DA brute because of this.
  11. Meh was tring to softcap, I did to s/l/e/n with 1 foe in range although I got less f/c defenses and more recharge, but I forgot Hasten in the process, and going to bed now. There are 2 slots left in the build.

I think I'd have noticed the lower Fury decay because I'm simply loving it. Being able to look for a mission target when solo or walk a hallway and still have half your fury bar so that you'll be at 70% right after a few swings changed brutes for me.

The only time I had some difficulty with fury was on one team but this specific team had a plant and an elec dom so everybody was confused all the time, I wasn't complaining because I stopped dying since we had no heals (important on the low levels) or buffs before the doms arrived and I was grabbing alpha and all the aggro since the ss/elec brute hadn't gotten his damage aura, besides having endurance troubles with my 4 toggles at DO levels (oh dark armor why do I love you so much , both my newbie brutes are /da).
  13. As for shields:

Ok they're not exactly 'shields' but Stalker Dark Armor's mez toggles (O. Gloom and Cloak of Fear) get suppressed now when they're hidden so that they don't have to detoggle/retoggle them, a recent change (happened in my absence so I'm not sure when). They could apply the same for the human shields while in forms.

Also, +1 for Solar Flare changing to .9 kb, that way you'd simply add a dam/kb IO and have your kb back. Which I doubt many people would do, you don't see players slotting KB in Footstomp, Fault or Tremor (well except Castle who said he was having fun once with an Axe/SR Brute slotted with KB enhancers when he was testing both sets but I guess he didn't like Fury and stuff )

If you are well versed in using Sands of Mu / Shadow Maul to hit multiple targets you can make good use of Jacobs Ladder as well. And its single target damage is respectable too.

Oh that's a great point, thanks I had completely forgotten about that. I don't need it NAO so I can wait - I'll check the magic costume parts since mystic fortune is nice but not a game changer like ninja run, and the martial arts pack costume parts are fugly (imho)

And Darkgob you're right, I liked the Cyborg stuff a lot when I bought it (when it was released), now that I'm running Ultra Mode the costumes seemed ugly to me, and I didn't know why.

Looking at the trailer the beast pack seems interesting, from paragonwiki it seems like it has the most parts of all...

I'm sorry if I seem rude, but I've been told to use the same "solution" for years already. The fact of the matter is that I'm trying to give money to NCsoft, and their IP block is preventing me from doing that. It very much seems to me that they should fix the issue, rather than me renting a server in the US to install a proxy server so I can fool their stupid IP block. I don't care about the booster packs enough to do that.
I feel your pain Leandro, I'm in Brazil, same deal. Had to resort to this (insecure) resort to get GR and the MA pack. I used Mac OS X but I don't think this makes it more secure except if your Windows is infected (and I use the Win7 client because the Mac client is crap plus I love Mids) since the internet is the same for all computers. Makes me sad, oh well. We have a local dealer ( levelupgames.com.br ) but they sell stuff for like 500 games and don't keep up unless it's a massively popular one, so their store kinda 'stopped' at architect edition and there are only 3 booster packs available. Each for about 13 USD of course
  18. Hi guys, I'd like opinions. Just came back, got GR, and thinking about buying a booster pack or two.

I know I can see all offer here and in Paragon Wiki, but I'd like to ask my gaming fellas: Which booster(s) did you like the most and why? I'd love to hear your reasons for liking/disliking them.

I have the Cyborg and Martial Arts - the Cyborg I liked for awhile because of costume parts but meh, I barely use them anymore and I always forget to use self-destruction power even when it's useful at low levels and I'm about to die. So it wasn't a good purchase (for me of course). The Martial Arts pack was good because of Ninja Run, I hated the costume parts.

(I'm tempted to get the Wedding one because I saw some impressive female toons using their costume parts, but if any booster offer a power as useful as Ninja Run, which essentially made me change all my builds, I'd love to know)

EDIT: Forgot to mention I have the GvE pack too, I bought it when I joined the game in a combo deal so I forgot about that one.

    Thanks!

And with Brutes the speed you level is crazy ridiculous because of Fury powering your damage aura. Got a DM/DA (which only has Shadow Maul as a kind of AoE plus the damage aura) to 22 in half the time I got a Fire/Fire Tanker (which has Combustion available to help unlike your Fire/SS) to 12.

I tried it with a WS, it's kinda fast after you get Dark Nova (you have 2 AoEs and at level 6 - or level 1 having up to level 6 powers, you outperform any blaster) it's kinda fast, levels 1-6 were slow because I used Orbiting Death (Tanker level damage aura) and Sands of Mu as my 'AoE', and since it's a WS sometimes you get one-shotted even at the def cap.

Oh and these help immensely, especially the WS or other 'frail' toon that can never lose the softcap, I use the macros for making greens, purples and reds: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=125603

As to the OP's question, SM is kinda sucky for farming, FM will be better - you can farm with willpower at high levels with a normal build, chug reds as much as you can, but you won't be as fast as a brute with a damage aura, especially /FA with burn and fiery embrace.

That said, I do like it somewhat more than OG fury, these days being able to hit the 70-80 mark from purely one's own attacks is pretty sweet.
Yeah I don't mind not going to 11 as long as I can take my time or walk a hallway, solo or teamed, and have half my fury bar still. I love it, after 10 seconds you are at 65-70% and one-shotting minions with powers like Swipe again.

This is great too, something I hadn't noticed much despite having a 50 and a 36 brute because I was always teamed and worried about fury and I played them only when requested, never soloed. Now soloing even my dm/da at +1/x3 (she's 12 now) I see a huge difference, you attack a mob, he runs a bit and comes back.
  21. 1) Well the top end chain for DM is Smite - Siphon Life - MG so neither is necessary, I love Maul tho but I can make good work of the cone. I'd take Maul while leveling and if you decide to drop it later, pick Gloom to round out your ST attack chain.

    2) Yes and yes, you're invul, s/l res is your forte, as well as some defense.

    3) Hasten is good for Soul Drain, Dark Consumption and Dull Pain come back faster.

    4) It's expensive, typed defense sets are kind of a big deal in the market. Like Kinetic Combats for s/l defense.

    5) S.Punch, S. Maul (though I love Maul, it's your only AoE), Touch of Fear, Dark Consumption (if you have an io'ed build you may find you don't need it, you can't build around this power like elecs build around the idea of using power sink because of its long recharge)

    6) Now this is hard, I don't think I'd skip anything besides Unstoppable. I'll let other players with more Invul experience chime in.

    7) DM: top chain that I mentioned and Soul Drain, Invul: everything but Unstoppable and well... I'd pick the passives since the buff (Resist Elements, Resist Phys Damage and Resist Energies) but I guess they aren't must haves if you mean must-have as the bare minimum not to gimp a build.

Yeah I took a level 1 farm with a WARSHADE and it was a bit of a drag until level 6 (Orbiting Death+Sands of Mu, OD is a tanker level damage aura, so much faceplanting was involved since it was taking a bit long to defeat enemies) but after getting Nova Form at 6 I cruised to 22, softcapped and alternating my 2 aoe blasts, which is where I wanted to get to with him.
  23. Well for regen you want recharge and some positional defenses, only after you think about health regeneration.

    I just made this up:

  24. Yeah SuperJe the Tank had Tough and a top end build. But we do TFs that way, 'bring whoever you want' and you're right, we came to the conclusion we needed oranges galore because we realized at Recluse we were all defense (except me, a fire/kin, and 2 blasters but ID didn't help much and I couldn't hit buffed Recluse with my heal).

That said it must've been the empaths, both had very long breaks and were dying at Recluse repeatedly, I kept all kinds of tankers alive with Recluse with a mind/emp (with AB and heal other, it can be cast sucessively on my troller due to having lotsa IOs and heal other having such a short recharge, never missed AP), my guess is that they didn't remember to keep the distance. We only realized about the lack of resistance because the TF went buttery smooth till Recluse, the 4avs went down easily even with double pulls.
