I've never asked to told someone to turn there shields on, but i have said, "hey, you know your shields are off..(i of course check before i ask to see if they even have them trained, if they do, then i "remind" them. If not, well, that answered my question now didn't it. ) most times i get a "doh!" thanks! as a responce. heh. only other responce i've ever gotten is, "they cost to much end", and that was in pre 20 content. No arguemtns there, i run without my shields at that level alot.

Now if they would say something like, "yep, i know, just don't like them much.. " or something... i'd.. leave it be i guess. never had it happen quite likethat... but yeah, i'd just leave them be. heh.
  2. How much work you want to put into it?

My Fire/Sheild Scrapper, has 40%/37%/40% Def to M/R/Aoe defences(it was all 40's then they go and nerf Botz...) , 45% S/L resists, and EPIC aoe potentual. (SC, FSC, and flamebreath with range.) She's a little mechine. But it cost me alot...and i'm still not softcapped...(i could be i guess if i trimed my build more and picked up manuvers... but... i like my build as is so far... she's strong enough AND i already have 2 softcapped SR's... so..)

If you want to spend alittle less... try maybe a Fire/SR, Spine/SR, or Elec/SR. (I prefure spines and fire to lighting cause, LR is impressive, but take a while to recharge, where as spines and fire up much more often, and minions die faster. IMO)

I WOULD recommend Spine/Elec, as i have one and the aoe is SICK with 2 dmg aures... but they mobs keep running away from it.. i can't keep them on me to save my life... freaking stupid AI..(or, overly intellegent AI...)

So it brakes down, IMO, like this.

You want AoE? Spines/Fire/Elec. Pick one of them.

Defence, the BEST, IMO you can get is softcapped SD. Soft cap D, solid S/L resists, and over the top damage buff and an extra AoE.(an epic one at that.) The down side is, it'll cost a mint to build and spines is OUT.

Second best is prolly an Invlun that's softcapped to S/L/E/N. It can be done, but it's expensive. You'll end up with better defence, then even the Shields guy, but no damage buff or extra aoe.

The cheapest option is SR. Softcapped defence. And that's about it. You get scaleing resistences when your almost dead, and some from Tough which you'd want to train to stick a steadfast in... a recharge buff, but no damage buff, no extra aoe, no real resistences to speak off, but dirt cheap and still impressive defence.

I'd recommend a Spine/Sr if your on a budget. Or a Fire/Shield if you have the coin to spaire. (or an Elec/Shield if you have the bucks and don't mind herding up and nuking every... 20 to 30 seconds. i prefure to wittle the spawn down, instead of waiting on 2 long recharges, but that's me.)
  3. Fire or Archery are the all around best "blasting" primaries. (IMO) They both have very good single target and aoe damage. And little else. (no real secondary effects to speak of, though archery IS more accurate out of the shot, fire's dots IMO prove more useful in the end game.)

Fire matures fast. Archery doesn't become the aoe powerhouse until you get ROA. (34, to get and fully slot it)

Secondarys. IMO, the best all arounder is Rad. It gets all its key debuff eairly. It covers the whole spectrum of debuffs you'll need (-def -res -toohit -dmg and slows) and has a great control power, sweet buff, fallout...which is fun, and a heal to top your health off. (i don't care much for chocking cloud, but others swear by it..)

A fire/rad will be an all purporse char. your looking for. Having solid AoE, Single target, and snipe if you so chose (i don't take it) It's debuffs mixed with a patron shield give it some nice defence, and the buff/debuffs are a god send to any team.

I'd also like to point out it's a fairly common build and you'll see ALOT of them running around. (that may or may not be a turnoff.)

But, frankly, most Corruptors can be made this way, as they are a hybried of blasters and defenders... they can grow into impressive powerhouses. I love my, less common, but very fun to play AR/Cold corr. He's more a teamer then soloer. Exellent AoE damage, top notch debuffs and buffs, and i've not really seen any other ones running around. LOL (and i've started a DP/Rad. Which i've yet to see outside of myself. seems all the DP people are DP/Traps. *shrug*)

My argument is that I refused to SB them unless they ask for it and say thank you afterwards. Both me and Shang stated how my using Speed Boost was a gift, not a necesity.

Their argument is that if I don't intend on using the power, why have it. Also that the stone tank (the one who was demanding the SB) would be able to play much better, as well as everyone else, because of it.

Of course I understand that Speed Boost is a big advantage for the team and stone tankers, what I don't understand is that just because it is a help hat it means manners must go out of the window. I didn't roll a /kin just to observe everyone's buffs to see when to give them one.

So what's your overall view on the matter?

You... demand please and thankyou's to get SB? O.o

Of what good to you is a hollow thank you, when you have to extort it from someone? It isn't sincere. Seems to me all demanding please thankyou's for your serveces gives you is a since of control over your group... and why just SB? Why not demand the same thing for FS? Syphone power? Maybe charge for heals?

Hehe. I don't demand anything for my teammates other then they play the game to the best of there abilities. When a thank you happens, it's because it was sincere or a showing of "REAL" good manners, not because they feel forced to do it.
  5. I'm not a numbers cruncher. I'm also not a hardcore power gamer.

So, for the number crunchers out there, how would regular old, SO slotted, SuperStrength stack up against other scrapper primaries if it were ported as is? Cause, it's that how the dev's balance their game? Why are people screaming it'd be overpowered if it was tricked to the gills with uber recharge and double stacked Rage when the dev's don't (or at least say they don't) use that critira when balancing a powerset?

In the hands of an AVG player using basic SO's or Bluelight special IO's (that's me) would it really be the epic end all scrapper primary? (I honestly don't know, that's why i'm asking?)
  6. *shrug* I don't see the issue. There are been cluelsee EAT's for a long time now. People who PL'ed stright to 50 to unlock the them. It's been happening from the day the EAT's were introduced. It's nothing new. It's a tad easier now i suppose. And maybe if we see some modiest influx with GR, there be more noobs around sure, but the ones that take the team to accually play will learn, and the PL'ed noobs won't, just like always.

Guess what i'm saying is, a player who wants to learn can play any AT he puts his mind too. An instent gratification player won't. It's a mind set, not an arbetrary level or time investment.

**edit** Nothing to see here. Just repeating myself. So i'm done. Moving on.
  8. And, as for the soul bound items issue. Oddly enough i have no issues with the concept itself. None tradeable items have never bothered me, assuming they are the rareity and not the norm. (it can add IMO a individual flavor for your alts, IMO of course)

As for weither or not it's a sign of things to come... i doubt they'd code a new game feature like this simply for one promotonal item... just a hunch.

The first is a statement about the situation at that time (February of this year), the second is a statement about every point AFTER that time (from then until release). That is a massive difference.
Oh, that's why i'm not saying they did something illegel. They didn't. They did something i just consider slimey. That statment, obviously lead people to belive this kind of situation wouldn't happen. There seems to be others besides me to read it that way. And now, low and behold, there are incentives to preordering, well after they already have our money. I've got a lvl 36 DP corr, i can't demand a refund now... dispite this new development. At the time of the first statement, there should have been a caviot. (ie, subject to change, ect. or at this time there is no insentive to perpurches.) There wasn't. And to claim they didn't know Gamestop would want an incentive... there last to products came with perpurches incentives. Hell, i had to chosse which helment i wanted cause it was spread out between... what, 4 different stores? But at least at the time purches i HAD THE INFO i need to make the choice. Not so now.

Again, illegel? Nope. A good business disession? Prolly. I'm sure plenty of sheep out there are going to preorder dispite having gotten it already online. Underhand? IMO it sure as hell is. Like i said, this something i wouldn't be shocked by if Crypitc did it... cause IMO they have already. (don't get me started) But i though better of this developenet team.

{ There have been a lot of questions about the City of Heroes® Going Rogue prepurchase program, the Complete Collection and the Item Pack. We’d like to take a moment and try to clarify this for all of you.

There are two different ways to get the City of Heroes Going Rogue expansion: as a separate expansion, or as part of the Complete Collection.

The separate City of Heroes Going Rogue expansion costs $29.99 (€19.99 / £17.99) and requires you to already have City of Heroes. The separate expansion doesn’t include game time, so you must be an active subscriber to play. The separate expansion does not include the Complete Collection Item Pack. The separate expansion will only be available digitally, and will be available for prepurchase starting in March (see below for more information on what you get from prepurchasing this separate expansion).

The City of Heroes Going Rogue: Complete Collection costs $39.99 (€29.99 / £26.99) and includes City of Heroes Going Rogue as well as City of Heroes, City of Villains, 30 days of game time, and the Complete Collection Item Pack. With the game time and previous expansions included, it is ideal for those who are new to City of Heroes franchise (perhaps as a gift!), but also a good value for players not interested in prepurchasing. The Complete Collection will be available both digitally and at retail (in North America) starting in July and cannot be prepurchased (only the separate expansion can be prepurchased).

Starting at launch in July, players who prepurchased or bought just the separate City of Heroes Going Rogue expansion will be able to upgrade to the Complete Collection. The upgrade will include the Complete Collection Item Pack, but it won’t include any game time.

    Prepurchase

Only the separate City of Heroes Going Rogue expansion will be available for prepurchase. The Complete Collection will not be available for prepurchase, nor are there any incentives for preordering it at retail.

Prepurchasing the separate City of Heroes Going Rogue expansion will give you early access to the Dual Pistols and Demon Summoning power sets. Dual Pistols will be available immediately once the prepurchase program starts in early March. Demon Summoning will become available starting in April. You will get both power sets early if you prepurchase.

    Complete Collection Item Pack

    For those who prepurchase the separate City of Heroes Going Rogue expansion, but also want the Complete Collection Item Pack, starting on launch day in July, we will offer an upgrade to the Complete Collection. The upgrade will include the Complete Collection Item Pack but will not include any game time. The pricing for the upgrade hasn’t been set yet.}

This is the part that pisses me off

Only the separate City of Heroes Going Rogue expansion will be available for prepurchase. The Complete Collection will not be available for prepurchase, nor are there any incentives for preordering it at retail.

I take that for what it says. From a red name. I see nothing that says "currently" or "offeres maychange with time." or some such nonsence.

What people have right now is buyers remorse. That's not the same thing as being screwed, or NCSoft being evil, or anything like that. People need to get the hell over it.

I'm positive i'd read Posi or someone say there was NO perpurches perks at brick and morter stores. (gamestop). That was, in part, the reason for picking it up online. And what perks came with the complete addition were going to be sold seperetly online later.

I KNOW i read. This, contruducts that. Bait and Switch? No, not quite... but it's close IMO. If i'd have known about THIS, i'd have reconsidered my actions eairler. DP was a nice perk, but i could have waited, and would have rather to get these perks... But i didnt KNOW. Until now. After the fact. And... how many people you think will go ahead and get both? Feels kind of slimy to me. Like something Crypitc would do.
  12. I have admit i'm a "tad" annoyed. I could have sworn someone, Posi i ((edit. Not posi, someone else. see below))think, said there wouldn't BE any perks for preordering... that was the whole point of seling it online, cause you didn't get anything for perordering in stores..... and that they'd sell the complete box set item online.......... did i dream that up?? I'm NOT preordering a game i already bought to get perorder perks i was told would never exist in the first place... hince being one of the reason i prepaid for the whole game online. (the other being DP.)

You can't tell people your not going to do something, take our money, the DO IT. What the hell... ?!? And GG, yes, they could have told the store they promised there customers they weren't DOING that and not code them special perk items... this is crap. I do not like being lied too... and that, to me, is kind of what this feels like.

<--- NOT a happy customer ATM.

By failing. Sure your way is more effecitve, i won't dispute that, but it's a game, and your FAILING. I don't LIKE failing. And doing things the effecent way isn't nessessily the funnest way of doing it. To each his own in that respect, but i have to say, the fact you can fail 2 of 5 mission, and complete a TF in half the time you normaly would, for the SAME REWARD as a team that does it the "right" way boggles my mind. BAD game desigin IMO. *shrug* but what can you do?

Cold under decent recharge is a better debuffer than rad as well and it is definitely a better buffer.

However, rad matures very early, is very easy to play, and has been around much longer than cold and traps. So taking away its throne is probably not going to happen.
Well, there is truth to what you say. Which why I was talking in general, all around terms. When you consider all of it's advantages, it's potency eairly, it's ease of use, it's covering the bases for all the debuffs you'd want, it's reletive ease to build. (it doesn't NEED a ton of recharge to keep it's debuffs applied perma. It benefits alot of great recharge don't get me wrong.)

It's got very high markes in all the different catogories, so as a whole in general i consider it the best. (the total sum of it's parts) And of coure it's IMO. YMMV.

Now i haven't played traps. I've tried but i just don't like it's relience on stationary objects and it's randomness. But i've played Cold and LOVE it. it's my go to debuffer over on the red side. And again, i enjoy TA. It's really underrated IMO.
  15. There's a reason Rad's are so popluar. They are, IMO, the best all around debuffers in the game. Now granted, some sets have specilised debuffage that surpass rad in one or 2 areas. But Rad quite litilery has access to all the different debuffs you'd want. -res -dmg -tohit slows. It's got it all, and can pretty much keep them all perma applyed to an AV the duration of the fight. Mix in a few progs, and a secondary, like sonic's, and you have an AV slaying mechine. My Rad/Sonic is a game changer.

After Rad, I'd prolly say is Cold or Traps. (have an AR/Cold Corr who's pretty epic. Never played traps but here really good things about it.)

Alot of people give it flack, but i LOVE my Plant/TA troller. She's got some REAL potent debuffage abilities.

That being said, yeah, I don't think I've been on a single LGTF since that time that didn't speed through it.
Well, granted, i've only ran maybe 2 LGTF's or 3 that fough it's way though, and yeah, that mission is a "bit" longer saving them, but it wasn't much extra time. We know where to look now. (at first, we didn't. yeah, my FIRST LGTF that mission took forever. but it's been out for years. we know where they usually are. it's not as hard as it was.)

  19. Intresting concept for a channel. I'd say 8 times out of 10 i'd much rather kill everthing in sight then stealth/speed stuff. And don't even get me started on LGTF's. I never run them anymore cause people just seem to refuse to even try and save the women and child. It bugs me. ALOT. Not to mention i enjoy fighting AV's and totally skip out on like 2 av fights. I'd imagian this won't be an issue with this channel.. so i'm game. See below for my globals. Thanks in advance!

I am still a wild advocate of Castle making Toxic Blast as a new primary.
I LOVE sonic blast. I have a Rad/Sonic and an Emp/Sonic fenders. IMO, being TF toons, i enjoy knowing that i'm really contrubuiting to the "hard" fights. (AV's, GM's, ect) I leave the AoE and minion melting to the blasters and scrappers.

As for a corruptor, i'd already ran 3 sonic blaster users. (the 2 fenders and a Son/NRG blaster) so, wanted something different. Ended up making an AR/Cold instead of Son/Cold and a DP/Rad instead of a second Son/Rad. Sure, not as effetive as they could have been -res stacking the blasts, but more then good enough.

I'm honestly suprised so few corr's use the set. I've seen them, but they are kind of rare. Unlike energy blasters of which i haven't seen a hint of one in years. heh.
  21. Honestly, now that i sit and think about it, the least played I've seen are NRG. I can't recall the last time i've seen one... of anything really. Blaster, defender, or Corr. Haven't seen it in a while. *shrug* I seem to be an odd ball when i say this, but i never ever like how the set looked, so i never had any desire to run one. Knockback doesn't bother me really. But i think it does alot of other people. So when you mix average damage with annoying knockback and (IMO) ugly graphics, i can understand why you never see them now a days.
  22. Below is my lvl 50 respec "final" build. I'd like to see what you guys think, see if you have any suggestions. (I'm building on a budget for the most part. I already got the merits and made a lvl 20 Miracle. So that expence is out of the way.

Now my question. I'm trying to get as much -res as i can in this build. I know the prog -res's don't stack, but figure with them all over the place I should be able to keep it mostly on during long av fights. But, I have an attack, Piercing Rounds, that also does some -res. The question is, i tend to run with Incendeiry Rounds for extra damage. Does that take away the -res special effect of the attack to replace it with the dot, or does it add the dot to the -res? Would i need to use the basic bullets to get the -res?

    Thanks in advance!

Cool. Now, how about fixing the "real" problem with the LGTF. The main reason i never run that blasted TF. The fact it rewards you for letting women and children die (get KOd?). I can never find a team that wants to be heroic on that TF. Apperently, saving 20 mins (if even) is all that matters.

And besides... WHY can a TF continue when you FAIL 2 missions??? Huh? That's never made any since to me. And for full rewards too. That's just stupid. IMO of course.

You can't skip the Tier 1, Beheader, and the Tier 3, Gash, is harder-hitting without adding too much recharge time. I find that for general-purpose tanking, Beheader/Gash/Swoop/Cleave makes a serviceable single-target attack chain (Cleave can be used like a single-tagret attack without too much inefficiency). If I were tweaking carefully for dps against single-targets (like AVs), I'd give more consideration to Chop...and I like the animation, too. It's fine to use, but if you are struggling to fit in all the powers you want, it's more skippable than the others, IMHO.

PS: I use Cleave/Whirling Axe/Pendulum (and in my case, Shield Charge when it's up) as an AoE "chain." Two attack chains, Cleave serving double duty.
I skipped Chop in my build. Or i should say, i respecd it out. It's a decent attack, and i'd take it to have it for eairly leveling, but respec out of it later.

Personally, i went with WP/BA. My willpower guy has capped HP, supeiror regen, 70% S/L damage and decent defence to the exotic damage types. He stands up very well to most anything. I'm debaiting respecing him and added in more Defence to s/l damage instead of keeping him at the HP cap. It's prolly more effective that way if YOU plan on trying WP. Argo can be an issue, but it's overcomable with taunt, and libral use of your AoEs. And you have like 2 exellent AoE's for argo maintince. Besides, when it REALLY counts, durning AV fights and such, you can keep an AV's exclusive attation easy. it's just he big groups that can be a problem. Sides, it's good for that blaster to learn to defend himself form a few stray minions... >.>

Not to mention the fact that with WP as a primary, you can heavly slot your attack for recharge and have the fuel you need to unleas your fury on the world. I think each of my attacks has 80% recharge and around a 20% gloable bonus. (crushing impacts) All in all, i really enjoy the build. (hince why i'm not sure i want to change it... still in debate. Sides, my Shield/Ice tank just hit lvl 47 last night and is now softcapped...)

    food for though.
