  1. Back on the US servers it was Kiken (MA/SR Scrapper), who had actully started life on the boards pre-beta. Took something like 14 months to get him to 50, but that was down to goofing around with my SG and various alts (and a couple of periods when I had no internet), and I loved every minute of him.

When I switched to the EU, though, he got shelved after a while, as do all my 50s. I bounced around from alt to alt for a long time, filling all my chatacter slots on Defiant and starting in on Union.

Where Iron Anderson (Inv/SS Tank) became my new favourite. One of my quicker 50s (which still isn't saying much) he still gets regularly played. Even if it's just standing around drinking martini's in Pocket D. Although, with MA he actually gets proper play time too. Along with the Brute version over on Redside, who will most likely (finally!) be my first Villain 50.

    I miss .........

I miss the old Storm Kick animation. Yes, you looked like a complete wally standing there waving your leg around if you missed. But I still think it was cool.
  5. Congratulations.

Just remember, all those sleepless nights, trips to the doctor, changed nappies and vomited food will seem like fond memories as soon as the little one becomes a teenager.
  6. This problem is more widespread than you might think.

When I hear 'Pants' I think of toddlers underwear. Step AWAY from Her Majesty's English GG.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Mmm. Somehow, I don't think Her Majesty uses the word 'pants' so much.

Frankly, this is one of those words where the American usage makes more sense than ours. 'Pants' is a shortened form of 'pantaloons', using it to mean 'trousers' is fine, perfectly logical. But shortening 'underpants' to just 'pants' is nonsense if you think about it - 'pants' means 'underpants', so by expansion, it means 'underunderunderunderunderunderunder...pants'. Madness.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ah, but it's possible that the English use of pants comes from pantalets, long frilly lady's draws.

    It's back!

I do find it amusing that we are arguing the correct English usage of a word that is Italian in origin...

It's not like Marvel copyrighted the concept fo stretchy arms/limbs.

In the way of copyright, there's nothing they can do about it. You can't copyright a concept like strecthy limbs.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The lawsuit Marvel brought against CoH was basically that the character creator could be used to make copywrite infringing characters. (ie, all the Hulk and Wolverine clones running around.)

You mean like it was back in Alpha?

  11. Todays butt-whipping was brought to you by the letters D and F, and the number 9.
  12. I probably should have put another smiley in there, seeing as how it's become something of a standing joke.

    Better?
  13. I'm there most nights, as Iron Anderson, and he'll talk to just about anybody. Of course, the kind of response they'll get depends on just what they say to him. (Although I may be holding a conversation, evesdropping on two others and chatting on an entirely unrelated channel. So bear with me if I don't notice you at once ))

Another possible opening, if there is no PC acting as bartender, is to ask how you're supposed to get a drink out of the crazy dancing person.

7.) Remove XP all together from the MA. I know this one has been suggested before but its a very good idea.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This I would hate. Because, having run characters from 1-50 a number of times, I'm glad to have some new missions to be able to do it with. I've done 1-20 so many times I know the missions off by heart.

I'd only be willing for them to remove xp from MA if they also add another half-dozen contacts, at each level band, with entirely new story arcs.
  15. Jake headed back to the warehouse, trying to give the cop the benefit of the doubt. It was a nasty business, he must have plenty on his mind. And it really wasn't any of his business. In fact, and Jake gave a rueful grin as he thought it, being chased off like any other rubber-necker was a good thing. Time was, his name would have had the cops in this city swarming all over him, now he was just another face in the crowd. Exactly what he'd been working for.

Still, as more and more cops and ambulances showed up, he started worrying again whether the trucks carrying his materials would be able to get through ok. So long as the cordon stayed whewre it was, it would be fine, but if the moved it out much...

Still, he could worry about that if it happened. His guys would start turning up for work soon, and he had to make sure they got out to the job without hanging around to gawk with the crowd that would inevitably turn up at the police lines.

And if there did end up being a problem getting his delivery in, he supposed he could always go lift a couple of squad cars out of the way.
  16. This early in the day, the drive from Talos to Skyway was quick and easy. Jake wasn't naturally an early bird, but there was a big shipment of materials coming in that morning and he wanted to be sure that everything was ready. As he neared the warehouse something caught his eye, decades of habit allowing him to spot certain things without conscious effort. Looked like the cops were interested in something, maybe a white mask too.

Ten years ago, that would have been enough to have him turn away and head far from the area. But he was a respectable business man now, wasn't he? Whatever was going on, it wasn't anything to do with him. He drove on into the yard, got out of his car and took his usual walk around the building, making sure none of the local punks had been messing the place up. Most of them had learnt to stay away by now, after he'd cracked a few heads and told them to spread the word that you stayed off Iron Anderson's place. But you still got a few who were too dumb to get the message.

There were no signs that anybody had been around this night, though. In fact, it occurred to him now that there hadn't seemed to be anybody much around at all as he came in. That, along with the cops, had him thinking maybe something was going down. He didn't need anything messing up his delivery, they were due to start on a big job soon, he needed those materials. It would maybe be better if he found out just what was going on.

As he walked over to where the cops were standing, he began to get a whiff of something bad. Something he never expected to smell in this neighbourhood, crummy as it was. Even then, he was unprepared for the scale of what he saw when it finally came into view. He'd seen his share of dead people, but he hadn't seen anything like this since the war. Even as he took it in, some of the bodies began to rise into the air. Definitely a white mask with the cops.

Jake thought about turning back. If his delivery got delayed by this, he was going to have to do a lot of rearranging. But he knew how the cops worked. He was an ex-con, he had a warehouse near the scene, they'd be knocking on the door sooner-or-later. He might as well get it over with. The nearest cop was looking kind of goggle-eyed at some good looking dame. Jake settled his fedora straight and stepped over to him.

"Officer, my names Jake Anderson, I rent the warehouse back over there. You tell me anything about what's going on here?"
  17. Sorry, but...

Are you seriously saying that just because a supervillain is dead, they can't add him?

yes to your first question, everyone gets a +1 to the count

and no it doesnt because someone might have a PvE build and a PvP build, and want to respec one, also if you get IO sets, you lose then if you go into a dual build, but if you respec you get to replace them/keep

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ah! I misread the article on power respecification. I understood that you lost all your enhancements when you respecified. Well this is certainly enlightening. Thanks for your help everyone.

Wait, one more thing. It says that you can restribute your enhancements...how? What if you have more enhancements than enhancement slots?

    [/ QUOTE ]

When you respec, you go into a screen where you can pick powers one-by-one, corresponding to the levels they would become available at. You then get to add slots to those powers, 2 or 3 at a time, corresponding to the levels you would get those at. Finally, all the Enhancements you had slotted are stored in a little box. You drag them from there into the slots you want them in.

Any Enhancements you no longer need are left in the little box. You have a choice of placing 10 of them into the strip that holds Enhancements that drop in game (minus any that are already in there). When you finish, any that are left in the little box are deleted, and you receive Inf corresponding to their value as if sold in stores.

    Badge Kills

Yes, you can get a dual-build, simply by visiting a trainer and choosing the 'Select Active Build' option. The first time you do this (and choose build 2) you will get to choose the powers and slotting just like a respec. What you won't get are the Enhancements to put in those slots, each build has to have it's own so you will need to buy them for every slot on the second build.

Whilst it does go some way to lessening the need for Respecs, the real point of them is to give flexibility. As a Defender, for instance, you can have an attack heavy build for soloing and a buff heavy build for teaming.

And, of course, you might still want to respec either of the builds at a later time, if you don't like something about either of them.

Is that a double negative or triple?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's negative - and I'm positively positive he means Positron is a negative.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Positron is actually an Electron?

    Now I'm confused.
  22. Any characters you started on the US servers should still be there, at the same level they were when you left. Which doesn't help with the characters you started on the EU side, but it's better than nothing. (Plus, they'll still have all the Inf that got wiped on the EU version )

    Also, consider the word "Shardenfreude"

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sorry to pick holes in use of another language, but: Schadenfreude. Kudos on the phonetic spelling, however.

Now, to lighten the mood with a related Simpsons quote: "Boy, those Germans have a word for everything! "

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Except for 'fluffy'*

I, personally, would like to see the word 'obstreperous' used more. And possibly 'querulous'.

*Yes, I know they do. But never let facts get in the way of a humourous quote!
  24. Being able to have two builds on a character makes PBs a lot easier to deal with now. I have one build as a Blapper (with Dwarf Form mainly only used to avoid Mezzes), which I use to solo. I use the second build for teaming, with Dwarf and Nova max-slotted and with human-form added the Medicine power pool. (It can useful, if the team doesn't need the extra second-string Tanking of Dwarf, to be able to drop out of Nova and help out with the occasional heal or Stimulant)
  25. My name is Legion, for we are many. (Alts, that is )

I've been playing since US beta (although a couple of long breaks mean I only have 45 months of Vet badges. I wish I'd not been stingy and carried on paying while I was in Japan now) and I have no intention of going anywhere else right now.

I'm having far too much fun with MA and still haven't finished the RWZ arc. Or the new Cimerora stuff. Or the Ouroboros stuff. Or got a villain to 50, so I can get a Fortunata.

Altitis can be a good thing
