I remember the Devs mentioning that a new enemy group would be effected only by buildable temp powers. Wasn't it the name of the group the Rikti fought on their homeworld before they invaded Primal Earth?

Actually, if your Shaders are set to high, then the Arbiter costume isn't White/White.
The armor plating is slightly darker than white, and the undermesh/armor padding is the same darker white, but with an added layer of metallic shine. That same metallic shine that we can't use.
I should know, I spent a LOT of Inf trying to get the colors right on my Arbiter toon. I ended up making a Huntsman costume with the boots and shoulders near-white to make him a pseudo-Arbiter, like a high-rank Huntsman in the way Arbiter Daos is a high-rank Arbiter.
Now if your shader option is set to low, then yes the Arbiter suit IS white/white. -
Quote:The only thing I hated is that the DvD I got had a version that was only mostly remastered. The nice crisp animation suddenly drops to the old fuzzy Betamax-grade quality when Wheelie points to the spaceship for the others to use."Hey, no one calls Soundwave unchrosomatic!"
"Yeah, let's kick turkey(?)!"
"Constructicons, unite!"
"No Way!"

God...I still love the G1 Movie. Bayformers ftf, Transformers ftw
And that was one thing I really liked about the 2nd Bayformer movie; Wheelie's remake. I. . . .kinda like him as an RC Truck Decepticon that jumps ship the moment he realizes you can choose who you are.
"Who's a good little Autobot?"
Me: O_O; What the heck?! Why are you. . .doing that. . . do his leg? OMG! That's so much more awesome than the little rhyming version.
It's guilty pleasure of mine for enjoying both live action movies. -

Quote:That makes me think about the opening theme for the WatchmenIts not so very long ago in Human History, that a 'good man' was someone who treated his slaves well.
1772 in England, 1777 in Vermont (first part of what became the US) was the recognition that slavery was illegal.
The idea that 'owning' another person was wrong, and dare I say evil, was completely alien to many people before the abolitionist movements.
Of course it took a lot longer (a century or more) before the owning of slaves was abolished and the cessation of treating women as 'property' (of their fathers, or then their husbands) occurred in the West.
Were these people Evil ? Or just a product of the morals and over-riding opinions of their times.
The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is
Rapidly fadin'.
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'. -
Quote:*bows and chants like an Ewok*That's an issue with your computer's clock/date not being right.
There USED TO be a bug that showed you 49710 days offline when your computers clock was behind the time of the current server time (or last logged out time).
It seems they changed the code to simply display nothing when that happens instead.
Check your clock, date, timezone... and look again.
That worked! Thank you.
Had to switch the time/date synchro over to nist.gov to make it work. -
Yesterday upon logging in I found each and every one of my characters lacked the "X Days Offline" info.
Gone, completely.
No '0 Days Offline', no garbled text, nothing.
And those days offline numbers are important since that's how I judge when Day Job badges should be earned and set to new places.
Has anyone else had this happen? A quick search came up with nothing (or my Search-Fu is weak), and I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this happen, or if they have any ideas why this would happen. -
Quote:I don't think it was fixed. It may have though.Oh, man, X-Com.
... did they ever fix that bug where you'd start off on Really Hard, save the game, come back and it was on Really Easy?
I'd totally pay $5.00 to get it on Steam if that was fixed.
I do think there were some fan-made patches for it. I'd have to search for it again though, because I can't be sure anymore. If there was one and it's still floating around the net that'd fix it just fine; the Steam system doesn't check the game to see if it's different, it just runs the built-in DOSBox.
Either way, it's still worth it, it's hard to get the old game installed right from the old CD, and that's assuming you still have it. At $5 per game, that's a quick $10 for the two best games of the series, or if you're a die hard fan like me, get the entire series, from X-Com: UFO Defense to the fair SpaceSim Interceptor to the questionable-but-still-fair-grade-mindless-fun of Enforcer for $15 total. Considering the entire series would be $25 separately, it's a good deal.
Quote:I did have that happen once to me. Fortunately, I ran one guy really far away from the sub, so he survived the Subbing. Then he got shot.poor *******.
Its usually times that like that prompt me to turn the game off and do something else.
It made sense to me, afterall, these were supposed to be the best soldiers the world could provide, but they had the physical stamina of an overweight gamer and the aiming skills of a blind man! -
Quote:Oh that's not as bad as the typical mission in my old X-Com Terror from the Deep. What I hated was getting alien grenaded just as I was deploying. Half the group gone on turn 3.
Then, of course, Oscar goes berserk and kills the other half.
Yet, I could still manage to pull off a "successful" mission, half the time, with my lone rookie that survived the alien grenade and Oscar.Granted, that lone rookie usually turns out to be Oscar.
Player Turn one: Open sub door. Get Alien Sonic Grenade thrown at me thanks to Opportunity Fire.
Enemy Turn One: Grenade goes off, killing my entire crew.
The End. -
Quote:Either way, he's right. X-Com's entire series is available on Steam. The odd thing is that the game hasn't been recoded, modified or anything to make it work on Windows XP/Vista; it comes with a custom-setting DOSBox.I think he might have been responding to me when I said...
Of course, I could be wrong.
One reason why I usually try quote who I'm replying to
All the old save game editors still work with it too. Granted, I don't cheat too much, just some extra money to get me started and making my Rookie soldiers a little more skilled. Not superhuman, just enough they survive more than one mission -
Quote:I hated playing that game with the last Sectoid. They make me weirdly nostalgic, especially if they're in a box-cluttered warehouse. Not nostalgic in a good way, but just in the sense that they bring on memories of something else that was infuriating in the same way. Anybody else remember terror missions in the original X-COM? Hey kids! It's time to play Where's The Last Sectoid?
It was worse when the Xenomorph Expy was the last thing hiding in that warehouse.
SKREEE!!
ZOMG!!!
....The commander is zombied! RUN!!!
And that's when I lose half my squad.

Quote:That's a great use of KB.I tried it on my blaster with the flame mastery. When I want to range, I keep a little distance from the frontline, and put the bonfire under my feet. This prevents mobs from approaching me. Team members are welcome to stay cozy with me too.
When appropriate, I put a bonfire close to the door to prevent mobs from entering.
It's other KB powers have only a 'chance' of KB, and usually those hit when you don't want them to. My AR/Nrg blaster particularly hates it in his grenade, buckshot and slug. If I could turn the Knockback of those into Knockdown instead, his AoEing could be so much easier. The KB of grenade specifically, since it has a much longer range I tend to use it as an opening attack when I let loose all my cones and grenades, and when I think to myself "Ok, I'll hit them with my 'nade, watch them fly from the KB, and pull them around the corner to burninate them." What happens? They don't. But when I use my 'nade with the intent to close in to flamethrower them and then hit them up with my other attacks, they fly around and I don't get to flamethrower as many.
Other times, the constant KBing really messes things up. If I open up with my Flamethrower then give them a face full of frag grenade and then buckshot, I usually knock some of them away with the 'nade, meaning I hit even less with Buckshot, either being outside the cone's sides or outside the range.
Now for powers who's purpose is KB, I love. Gale is perfect on my Storm users, getting at times no less than 5 slots so I can really slot it with the KB IO set. Force Field's Force Bolt is a standard part of my attack chain on my bubble users.
I even put Chance to Knockback in some stun powers like Beanbag and Nrg Manip's Stun; simply because how the powers feel/look, knocking the enemy back as well seems to fit its powerful look.
I just wish I could tone down the knocking back of other powers. If not turning the KB down, maybe lowering the 'chance' of the KB? -
I don't remember them ever scaling on Live or in Beta. I do remember that Statesman once said that they were supposed to scale, but due to a bug in the code they never did and it turned out more fun that way anywho so they left it in.

Gratz to the winners.
Had a feeling I wouldn't win :P -

Oh god I can't stop laughing!
Damn you! Now I won't be able to see them as anything BUT Rikti Eastern Island faces!!

Quote:I always did like the reasoning used in Lois & Clark. The lady (?) said it well. I doubt Superman has a reason his underwear are on the outside. It's just the way the character is. (Though, maybe it's so he doesn't have to change them as often.)
Clark: Why the colors? They're pretty bright.
Mr. Kent: You don't wanna look like that psycho from Gotham, do you? -
I'd hazard a guess at the ITF would be good for money if the difficulty is just right and you can find a team willing to kill 90% or more of the enemies.
Especially if you get a crew willing to farm Lag Hill. Enough AoE damage and you can make them melt in no time and the money just flows in. Burn them all down until you're happy with how much you've earned.
The RTF would also be a good one if you can get a team to clear the Boomtown map, but that one won't be quite as profitable as ITF's Lag Hill. -
I hope this is a feature to be added to the other pets, that's pretty dang cool :3
The only emotes I've seen are used on my combat Clockwork pet, and that's just him using the "Carrying a mini-I-Beam while walking" that normal Clockwork do. Since he's a flyer, getting him to 'walk' is near impossible; it only happens when he's at ground level, far enough away to trigger his running to me AI, but close enough that he won't use it at full speed.
It's cute to see him carry an I-Beam, at his size it looks like he wants to salvage a metal toothpick. -
Quote:I don't think any of us could help; that'd have be to handled by the Support crew. File another petition and get your ticket renewed; they auto-turn off after a few days if you don't update your petition when support answers you.Speaking of vet reward stuff. . . . it's been four months since my peacebringer ended up bugged, with rewards all the way up to 42 months (I'd been playing for 8 months at the time). I just NOW activated the 9 and 12 month rewards tonight (since I just hit 12 months just now, yay!). . . but has there been a statement yet about fixes to any of this? Yes, I did do a bug submission, way back when it occurred. Thanks in advance for helpful comments!

Quote:Hey, Progress Quest IS fantastic! It's the only game I can play on the computer when I'm not at the computer. If you want a challenge, try joing a ship raid... and then soloing the center of the ship... why don't you solo Ukon Grai, while you are at it.
If that doesn't seem hard enough (heck, it might not be)... then maybe you are just too awesome for this game and should move on to greener pastures. I hear Progress Quest is fantastic! -
