Quote:You heard it here first, World-Ending Character-Deleting Villain Arc in i23!Evidently I'm going to be bowling with footballs at the Super Bowl party I'm going to. Anything is possible.
-
Quote:Well, one of the redside arcs shows you what happens when you alone kills Recluse.
Allowing me to take over the world... well, let's say I defeat Recluse and thus really impress pretty much the entirety of Arachnos with my sheer bad-self-ness. So much so that no matter their factions, they would only ever fight me in self-defense.
The other Patrons turn on each other that moment, killing one another while trying to kill you; since afterall if they kill you they get to control Arachnos (or they're trying to kill you for 'betraying' Recluse's ideals/goals or for revenge of the death of some other Patron/Lieutenant). This results in every group within Arachnos going to war with the others; Crab Spiders killing Wolf Spiders, Fortunatas mind-wiping the Mu, Banes killing off the Blood Widows, etc and so on.
That's why you can't kill Recluse in the present during the Patron Arcs; his death at your hands tears Arachnos apart, and why you end up going into the future to kill him there. -
See, what everyone doesn't realize is that one of my villains wanted to destroy the world and attain Godhood by absorbing the released energies.
He did do it.
He destroyed the world, the Heroes failed to stop him and he unmade the universe by his will alone.
So I deleted the game from my computer.
No world, no game-world to play in, no Heroes to stop him, no other villains to topple him from his pedestal, no nothing but him and him alone.
Then my God-villain got bored with nothing to do and remade it all for everyone else to play in.
And I got to re-install the game.
Sucks when my villains succeed in destroying the world. It means I can't play the game anymore. -
Quote:Using that list, I can remake my original post and say:
Well, yes. But aside from Increased Blaster HP, Increased Blaster damage cap, Revisiting animations for Martial Arts, Katana, and Claws, Modifying Sonic Resonance graphics to reduce headaches caused by the animations, Kill Skuls Badge, Surging Badge, Supergroup badges, Badges unlocking contacts, Geas of the Kind Ones, Gender-specific badges (Man/Woman in Black)

WHEN have the Devs ever listened to us! -
Quote:Yes, but apart from better sanitation and medicine and education and irrigation and public health and roads and a freshwater system and baths and public order... what have the Romans done for us?I'm going to say something which some of you may find unpopular, but there are times where it is my responsibility to stand up and be an advocate for our team. I apologize if my words cause you to be upset, but it is the right thing to say.
When you say we do not listen to feedback, it is disingenuous. You can accuse us of many things, but accusing this team, the team now, the developers who have been working on this game for over a year, of not taking player concerns into account it is something that is, quite frankly, hurtful.
For example, let's look at the Super Packs. Based on feedback we have implemented the following:- ATO's available through in game means
- Enhancement Catalysts in game drops
- Price points for the packs set based on early feedback
- Offering discounts when purchasing in bulk based on early feedback both on the forums and at the Player Summit.
- Improvements made to the Inspirations found in the packs, over doubling their duration in some cases and making them persist through death (this change was done based on feedback that these items weren't originally very desirable, especially when found in Super Packs).
- Increased the rate at which costume pieces are discovered in packs
- Usability improvements based on feedback on the beta user start to finish experience.
- We're not launching with an alternate option to acquiring the costume pieces, but it is still something we're open to later on down the road.
I love you guys. I will walk through the fire for my Community and I will always, no matter what, represent your interests, regardless of my personal opinion. I have worked with developers who completely disregard player feedback, and I promise you, the Paragon Studios development team is not among them.

Is it possible the keyboard itself is broken/on its last legs?
My last keyboard had issues with the 2 key after a few years of use so it's at least plausible that something borked itself on the insides. -
Quote:In-game it's because Wade put up a force field around the top of the mountain, forcing you to go into the caves to weaken/bypass his shields. With this done, I go to a boat, which puts me in a cave, where a message pops up that I can't enter the temple. Huh?
For gameplay reasons it's why you go through the caves first instead of being at the base of the mountain and simply ignore all the enemies by flying/jumping/etc over them and up to the top of the mountain (like people will do during the ITF) -
Quote:That brought literal tears to my eyes.

Quote:Very true. I lost some 5 IOs that I was mailing to myself just before a maintenance patch, and when I logged back in they were gone. Sent a petition, the GM said "Well, looks like there used to be a A, B, C, D and an E in your inbox. Those the ones you lost?" I replied back 'Yes' and not but a bit later they popped back in, right as rain. Re-claimed them and went on my way.If an item just vanishes from your email due to a bug, you should be able to get it back through a petition. I've heard of a few cases where that happened, and each time the player was able to get their stuff back. The 60 day limit is intentional, but losing stuff randomly for no reason is not WAI and you should have recourse if it happens.

Quote:Dryer boogers? BUHAHAHAHA!!! XDI'll bid THREE pieces of lint and this...ummm...piece of...something?. It used to be a gum wrapper, or maybe it was a store receipt for something -- either way it's been through the washer and dryer, and now it's a small dry lump of some formerly paper-like substance. It's kind of like a dried-out spitball, only much cleaner! I'm sure everyone who's ever done laundry has seen one of these by now. A friend used to refer to them as "dryer boogers."
Yeah, yeah, I know. "Ewwwwww." But now you'll never clean the lint trap without thinking the same thing, will you?!
My work here is done. Muwahahaha!
Quote:Sorry. Anytime I see a name like Arbiter <name>, I immediately think of someone completely lacking in imagination. I would be hard pressed to think any player came up with Arbiter before CoV was released to Beta.
(though it is possible, of course)
I think Arbiter Cheese Sandwich would be a far better name. Or, even better than that, Toasted Cheese Sandwich. Leave the arbiter off completely.
But that's just me.
You either want the name, or you do not. If you don't, delete the character. If you do, keep it.
Those who try to sell names in game for fake money are not doing anyone any favors in my book.
Attacks on Arbiter Copland no longer mean an attack on Recluse himself, and to reflect this he wears a modified Huntsman outfit. Only the shoulders and boots are Arbiter-white, the rest is default black/red.
He's no super-skilled soldier or wanting the world to kneel to him, he's just a guy who worked hard enough to earn his Arbiter title and just wants his girl to be safe during her career as a Blood Widow. And he's willing to kill anyone who gets in her way, be they Hero, some gangmember or even other Arachnos operatives. -
Quote:That is too good of a quote to not save to my desktop. One of my all time favorite quotes...
"Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."

Quote:This is going to happen to any language currently in-use by the modern world. I myself am still unsure what being happy has to do with homosexual feelings and/or actions. Where's the link? And this is coming from a gay man.it's a shame that this other meaning for "twink" has been forgotten and replaced. A nice shorthand term for this problem seems worthwhile, but this late in the genre, I don't expect to ever see one.
Or what we call sweet talking or flirting is what 'making love' used to mean. Now it means the physical act itself. And do people even use the term 'coquette' anymore to refer to a woman who is flirting? (I didn't even know the word existed until looking up Flirting on Wikipedia)
For better or worse language has changed and will continue to change just by virtue of it being used. -
Quote:Wasn't there an Elseworld comic where Batman did just that?Yeah, but that's ignoring the fact that, if he bumps off Zsasz 'for the greater good', what's to stop him killing Joker? He's at least twice as bad. And then Scarecrow, Riddler, Penguin, Bane (that'd be tough) all the others...
But then what about anyone else 'evil'? Who would define evil?
That's the point. Once you cross the line, it's only a downward spiral.
It took him about a year to kill off every single super powered villain in the WORLD. And nothing, no Villain nor Hero could stop him. -
Quote:He'd also fill the rockets with nerve gas to kill everyone in the vicinity. Especially to kill the citizens who aren't Resistance yet since they're helping hold up the regime.

If I remember right, Scirocco in Recluse's Victory can zap PA and even destroy them because his lightning attacks are set to ignore phasing.

Quote:This time with feeling!I was like, "Could you play a different song? You've been playing the same one for four years and it's getting kinda old." And he was like, "Okay but first you need to go kill this Snaptooth guy for me." So I did that, and I came back, and he was like, "Okay, go kill Snaptooth again...."

Quote:That makes me miss the 4Kids grade of censorship, where 'kill' became 'send to another dimension', a news copter became a 'Cargo Robot' (and the cargo was people!), cops pointed invisible guns at children, and Hell became HFIL, the Home For Infinite Losers. That said, I do agree that the "B-word" is hardly considered profanity anymore ( Key word: "hardly". Some people still consider "hell" to be profanity, but not enough that anyone bothers to censor it anymore ), being one that isn't even censored on network TV anymore. Hell, I don't even think the profanity filter catches it, but I'm not sure about that.
It also makes me miss the more... aggressive filter here in CoX. Remember when things like 'fist' was bleeped?
Hellion: A Hero? I'm gonna feed you my (BEEP)!
It made it so much more amusing. Could you see a villain speech done like that?
Super Villain: You? You DARE (BEEP) into my home and (BEEP) my (BEEP)? I really liked that (BEEP)! It's where I (BEEP)! I will (BEEP) you so much your mother will (BEEP). In fact, maybe I should (BEEP) your mother once I'm done with you?
when it was really
Super Villain: You? You DARE come into my home and break my stuff? I really liked that table! It's where I planned my evil missions! I will hurt you so much your mother will feel it. In fact, maybe I should hurt your mother once I'm done with you? -

I wish the Detectives could be a support NPC during the Safeguard mishs they give you.
Of course I say that because I'd LOVE to have the cyborg PPD Suit-ed Detective Murwell fight next to you! He's Robocop, which was awesome, he's wearing the PPD Shell armor, which is doubly awesome, so having him as a boss class Hero helping you would be Awesome Squared, or maybe even Cubed! -
I've tried to dual box, and my computer cannot handle the stress. Just moving from one zone to another was enough to lose the connection and mapserver out or timeout during the zone load.
However, I got a Laptop last Christmas and while it's nowhere near a gaming laptop, it CAN run CoH with most of the graphics on minimum (and a few things like Character Detail at 100) and have a respectable framerate.
Since my 2nd account is brand new and it's just a Premium account, I only have 2 character slots. But with the free points I had on it I was able to afford unlocking the MM, which worked out perfectly.
I use MM sets that are pretty much fire and forget, currently favoring Robot/Forcefields. My 'sidekick' uses a Perma-Hover build with a lot of toggles like full Leadership, no personal attacks, and he acts as fire support for my main. Put him on follow while hovering, the bots on Attack/Aggressive, and bubble up as needed.
It makes an effective (if simple) backup for my toons, either providing extra damage for my main Dark Defender, or the damage and bonus +Def my Stone Tanker needs. Even one of my other MM's gets plenty of help, his build being a Robot/Thermal, so between the Bubble and Fire shields the small army of bots is pretty well protected.
Granted, controlling the 2nd account's bots requires more dexterity than I have, which is why I've favored Bots so far (and will try Demon if I get enough money to get more character slots). They have a good amount of survivability with their self bubble, heals, and fair resistances.
