    Did somebody mention CARP MELEE??!?!?!?!!?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    No! NO! NOT THE CARP!

    Claws and Effect.
    Return to Cinder
    Prophet Margin

    The puns! THE PUUUUUUNS!
  3. /doublesigned

It'd be nice to be able to have black auras instead of 'very thin white' auras.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
Pretty sure that the most common amongst my characters are the fingerless gloves.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Same here, actually. It just looks too weird to have bare hands with how busy the rest of the costume tends to be.
  5. Shatterware - Defective robotic rad/rad defender.
    Freelance Rose - Photosynthesizing mercenary.
Sorrow-Weave - Brute fueled by schadenfreude.

I used to also have Colors and The Inchoate on Virtue... then had to delete them to make other characters, since this was before we could buy slots. They've since been taken by other people.

    The 50/50 Split.

We'll arena farm. One on one. Your level fifty squishy versus my level fifty. You'll stay in one spot, while I find you, and pwn your [censored] off. And we'll rinse, lather, and repeat until there are multiple recipes in my hands.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Use the cage map then he'll always respawn in the same spot and you can just stand there.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As far as I could tell in my own foray in this area, all maps have fixed spawn points now. From the i14 patch notes on arena: "In addition to this all teams have a static spawn location. This means that each time a team member is defeated they will respawn at the same location. "

My attempts last night were 156 kills for one level 50 Shield Wall End/Def. Took me just over an hour and a half to get them. The forced downtime of waiting to respawn + the phase shift upon respawning slowed things down a lot.
  7. Yeah, and it works very nicely in enforcers, too.

If you're going to change Hurdle, it'd be fun to give it +Double Jump instead.

Unless you have the Sandman equipped.

Only that upping the reward of a crappy TF won't encourage folks.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Given the very large number of Doc Q's I have seen formed since the merits were upped on that one, I would have to disagree.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Pretty much this. Plus the popularity of Katie/Cap/Eden while they were great merits/time for speed runs, plus Meow... all means that I think you could get people to play the 20-hour Click 90,000 Glowies in Oranbega TF if it gave 999 merits (over double the normal rate of 400 merits for 20 hours!). People go where the rewards are.
  10. Now that I've finally gotten used to using two character slots for the ones who need to be two different heights/genders/builds. Oh well. Convenience FTW!

    FOR SCIENCE

Suddenly, overnight, every established character in the game finds an excuse to become a shapeshifter of some sort.

Who wants to help me make a super-sentai team of five tiny aliens piloting 'giant' 8-foot-tall robots?!

This is true, although just slotting lots of non-purple sets adds up too. What's interesting to me is to take a build that already has good set bonuses through non-purple sets, and look at the difference adding a purple set or two makes by using Mids Hero Designer. For example, on my Archery blaster, if I change slotting in a power to go from 6.25% recharge bonus to 10% via a purple set, I shave 0.2 seconds off the recharge of Rain of Arrows, my cornerstone power. Not worth it to me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is true for the playing @50 situation. When you are exemping down though the value of purples really becomes apparent. You keep your set bonuses all the way down, 40% global recharge and 45% accuracy plus sets that are over the ed caps begin with and scale well aren't to be sneezed at.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This. Plus, if you're already sitting at 5 of some of the more common recharge bonuses... well, there's nowhere to go but up. My dom was in this situation a week ago. I wanted to slot out Fire Breath, but Positron's Blast had a recharge bonus I was already capped on. I'm quite happy with my Ragnarok. Knocking people over with fire breath is fun. I still have 20% global recharge (and some nice recovery bonuses) if I exemp down for a Cap SF. Can't beat that.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Like I tried to say during Issue 13's test, upping the reward will not get people interested in doing TFs. Making them all fun will.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Which is why Katies and Speedens were incredibly popular a few issues ago but suddenly become deserted once their merits were reduced.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
I wonder how people would respond if they just made Positron a level 45-50 TF?

    [/ QUOTE ]

"Sure are a lot of greys in this TF."
  15. [ QUOTE ]
it would be nice if people's reaction to getting a different powerset would be "eh, this is still doable" instead of silently mashing the team kick button.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Unless you're in a few very specific set of circumstances, this is a problem with the players doing the kicking and not the powers.
  16. Splitting Fitness=not going to happen. However, I like this:

    [ QUOTE ]
I would like to see a clickable abilities added to these auto powers.

For example: If you click swift, you get a 5 second 100% recharge (Like the proc from the knockback set). Give it a moderate recharge - maybe 1 minute? Also, allow it to not be enhanced by recharge powers or recharge enhancers (Similar to the tier 9 of Willpower)

Hurdle: Thematically, I can't think of anything creative to put here. Perhaps a 10 second jumpjet with a long recharge. This could allow for more SuperSpeed only builds without the stress of hopping over larger hills

Heath: I would just make clicking health be like clicking a green Insp - Give it a recharge of 2 minutes

Stamina: Same as health, but a blue insp would be used instead. Give it the same recharge time, but make it a tier 2 blue because its the higher level power.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It would be nice to do something to make those powers 'those boring things you spend six levels straight picking up.'
  17. [ QUOTE ]
I think there is a mission saying that some of them think of themselves as heroes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    A level 15-19 mission:
"I guess you've heard that many of the Outcasts long for the life of a superhero. Well, in Boomtown, they've started acting out their fantasies. I've heard reports of Outcasts harassing civilians for small crimes such as littering, jaywalking, and riding bikes on the sidewalk. Nobody likes a jaywalker, but this is just too much! I want you to get over to Boomtown and stop the Outcasts from harassing the populace.

I'm hearing the most reports from Grenadier and the Cannonade. You should probably start in those neighborhoods. "
  18. [ QUOTE ]
And where is this magical cleavage thread?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Sorry, Forum Cartel only.

    [ QUOTE ]
    I want it on a scrapper/brute/stalker.

    [/ QUOTE ]
You don't want it on a brute.

It was originally planned to be one of the Brute secondaries.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ice melee as a brute secondary! Whoo! Sign me up. Twice the damage, twice the fun! Armors are for nerds.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
But when City of Hero came out they did add in anime-inspired things, and since it's downfall we've inherited their good and bad parts. The Korean NPC have since been added to the game, but so has their gold farmers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

At least we don't have the decades-long powergrinds.
  21. I've been in the 90-minute smooth run with friends, the 14-hour painful run with friends (in about i1 when we were still learning things like 'what are DOs?' Our scrappers would later go on to have three travel powers and no mezz protection by level 25), the 9-hour pain run with a PUG, and the 2-hour smooth run with a full PUG. It's the height of tedium with a team that isn't clicking. In the old days, I'd still run it regularly just for the XP. Now? I just start a team running the Midnighter arc when I hit level 11. That usually gets me near 15 by the end if I keep a team of 8 the full way, it's much less painful, and it's a lot easier to recruit for since everybody wants to be able to get into Cimerora.

You are welcome. Who is my stalker.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't know who your stalker is. You made him, you should know who.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But he does know Who! He just said!
  23. [ QUOTE ]
I don't think Ohsirus spent 900M on generics, Umber. I could be wrong.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If he did, though, I'd like to offer my services the next time he wants a 20 million inf level 30 generic damage IO.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
Actually, most of the threads I've seen where an AE kiddy is asking legitimate questions about the game, the players sigh and answer them anyway, trying to tactfully advise the player to play through the game the proper way.

    [/ QUOTE ]

True, but I've seen more than a few 'yeah, this n00b asked me how set IOs work, so I totally yelled at him to level right next time!' posts.
