I'd place thugs at #1, robots at #2.
I never tried mercenaries & haven't played beasts/demons enough to comment. Ninja's & undead were fairly meh compared to the performance of thugs & bots.
Thugs/dark was my first villain 50 and a damned sweet ride. Dark is incredibly powerful but the synergy with thugs is gratuitous.
I found Thugs to have the best AE of the primaries & combined with dark & a bit of tactics it worked very well.
1. Use shadow fall power to move group into cone AE range
2. Drop tar patch if you want things extra dead
3. Unleash hell (6x AE's, tier 1 pets, tier 2 pets, you)
4. Repeat
You have Dark's controls plus Bruiser for anything that can survive the initial barrage.
I focused everything on that upfront damage including prioritising the MM personal attacks over other control abilities. Dead things don't need to be controlled. -
Quote:The rail crossing sign? Now the question for my Inv/TW tanker becomes: what titan weapon model do I give a giant bipedal rhinoceros samurai (name: Samurhinoceros)?
Thoughts?
Next will be shield/mace or sheld/SS if I can figure out how to get rage & the click mez protection both on autofire. -
Is there any way to set two powers to autofire; ie Rage from SS & Active Defense from SD?
CTRL-left click only does for one, is it possible to set via a macro? -
I'm getting this as well, damned annoying to say the least.
Thanks for the SG tip, I'll keep that one in mind. Hopefully it'll keep things close to playable untill someone pulls a finger and fixes this. -
Awesome stuff, thanks Lil
Nice to have everything summerised in one place, wish more AT's had this. -
Mmmm, eye beams
Can we get eye beams for all energy blasts?
And some way to get the sliding run animation?
And please pretty please the option to use the original hover animation? The new, more upright position, occludes more of the screen than I like when combined with wings. It was a sad day when PhoenixHawks wings were clipped because of an animation change -
Wow doesn't even begin to sum up the awesomeness of that artwork.
Nonetheless, for lack of anything more eloquent to add, uh...wow!

Flared tights. Not flared jeans or pants or anything else that wouldn't mesh with chest tights.
I was sure we used to have this but can't find the option now. Hope you have some plans to better catagorise all the options we have now. Can't find the forest for the trees -

You guys can probably blame me for these sets.
[/ QUOTE ]
Fine, I blame you then!
Course I'm rather happy with the new sets, but don't go forgetting it's all your fault
Defenders with guns & sparky tanks have been high on my wishlist. Strength scrappers are as well and seem to fit the no extra effects rule; figure it might just be too scary good to be balanced. Ah well
Is swapping whole animations on the drawing board for more than just SS/MA? Be nice to customise a set to do all eye beam attacks for example (yeah I know, inches and miles; sorry guys) -

Castle is a reference to the chess maneuver of Castling, rather than to the architectural structure called a Castle. Hence my forum Avatar.

I guess "Drafty Stone House Man" is out as well then? -
I like the removal of base salvage. It wasn't adding anything different enough to be worth having for me.
Dropping the costs has also been good. I'm starting to feel now like my base is more where it should be for the amount of effort invested.
There are aspects however to the I13 changes & bases in general I don't really like.
Rent: Why bother? Its at a level where I have enough prestige banked to last for years. All it creates is a minor annoyance having to run off & pay it. Drop it, move on.
Placement Like a few have mentioned I'm having difficulty placing wall items where I want them or getting items flush. The gap in between the floor and my stairs is a serious health & safety risk, none of my heroes have sprained an ankle yet but I'm sure its just a matter of time
It's not I13 exactly but I'd really like to be able to directly control the height of any item. I've been able to do that in other games & miss it here
Storage: Invention storage in bases is simply bloody brilliant. Um, can I have more please? I'd like to move my storage from Wentworths to the base but I can't quite get there yet. Work commitments etc I can be away from the game for long periods at times. The first time Wentworths cleared me out was the closest I've ever come to quiting. So, base storage is a real comfort for us casual/intermittent players but its not quite enough. Can it be changed to a slot system like Wentworths? 30 slots, up to 10 items of the same type in each slot. Oh, and recipes too, goes without saying right?
General - Not I13 Since bases came out my biggest disappointment has been that its all square boxes on a flat plane with no fixed ties to a gameworld location. This isn't Professor Xaviers School for Gifted Youngsters, the Bat Cave, Avengers Mansion, X-Factors Ship (yeah, old school) or the top of the Baxter Building (Four Freedom Plaza? I'm a little out of date) etc etc. I don't care that my arrangement of boxes might be different to other peoples arrangement of boxes because I don't *see* other peoples bases. CoH bases for me are about the convenience of teleports & storage. It lacks a *presence*.
If you ever want to WOW me with CoH bases guys I'd like:
1. A variety of multi-level prefabs in different design concepts (cave, mansion, castle etc) that I can fit out
2. The ability to name it
3. Have it tied to a specific location including the ability to add a front door; windows with a view of the outside (even a generic, not whats really happening out there, kind of view); NPC's referring to my base, especially close to its location
4. Mission opportunities that don't relate to PvP raids. PvEers also read the 4,165 different comics in which the Avengers Mansion got attacked - we'd like to get in on that action also
5. Jarvis. Nuff said
Also; can I have a cookie? -
First off kudos for the massive amount of work needed to get shields into the game & the graphics which are simply awesome.
The look this set brings has been enough to re-invigorate my playing of CoH (yeah, I'm a costume [censored]).
I'm not so comfortable about the actual performance though. I feel like I've got the best of it early on and the later levels are either group focused or an every so often click.
I like the group idea but I think its too much of my upper level performance. Personally I'd like to see the two group ones combined or see more individual benefit from them.

This is what this set needs. Just some small way to restore health. Better a small heal like EA, than regen. Regen is getting a bit overused.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree that this set could have used a heal of some kind, especially given that shields has an ideal thematic way to do so. I'd have loved the ability to "hunker down" behind my shield and activate a hibernate like power; + res or def rather than invul. -

- I can't realistically keep particular pets from having powers I don't like (Thugs, I'm lookin' at you)
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, you can. Just use the Goto command to make those pets move away from the others before buffing.

Tried thatEasy enough at start up, but I expect to re-summon & re-equip several times during a mission. It's not feasible to tell my Bruiser to run away in the middle of a fight and, sadly, it's in fights that most deaths seem to happen
Regardless, micro-managing to overcome a "feature" is not ideal. Snazzy idea #2 please Castle, sure your good it. -
There are a lot of very cool things in I13 (first & foremost the fantastic job BaB's did on the shields graphics which has me completed re-addicted) so I'd like to say a general well done & thumbs up to everyone.
Now the complaints
I'm absolutely loathing the new mastermind equipment change.
Setting up for a new mission is now quicker (yay!) but the costs are too high:
- My end gets hammered everytime I have to resummon & re-equip. The one gain at mission start is total outweighed by the constant pain throughout a mission.
- I can't realistically keep particular pets from having powers I don't like (Thugs, I'm lookin' at you)
Please revert or slice the end cost & make it apply to all pets of the same tier only. -
Posi mate, you bloody well rock.
Thumbs up for each of the ways we get access to the slots, very well balanced (/wtb more thumbs, two ain't enough).
