  1. I based the following on PvP and with using respec at lvl 26. I did it this way because to me it makes more sense for Nin/Nin not to respec till then simply to be able to replace one of the low damage attacks with a higher one without losing out on anything else. I know some wouldn't add the defenses in, but i find that i can escape much easier without getting hit with them hence hide comes back up quicker. Iirc you wont be able to respec till lvl 25 anyway. Hope this helps.

  2. Count me in for the patrols as either Hero or Villain. I know we cant get mixed teams in that zone, but a team of heros and a team of villains patrolling together will help spot any hidden to the other side

[Edit - Then again, thats what Broadcast is for ]

  6. Hmm thanks guys. Sounds like the advice is to take every thing barring unstoppable which sounds pretty much like MoG which i have on my regen but very rarely use it, i just like the animation

The build is for Spines/Inv so i should have plenty of room to fit the inv powers in as i wont be taking all of the spines ones.
  7. Hey guys, was wondering if any of you could point me in the right direction for the invincibility set. Its the only scrapper secondary i havent had and its a bit of a mystery to me What i'm wondering really is what powers should be avoided and which are must haves. Also are the always on powers any use?

    Cheers, Zeph.

I dont mind 1 on 1's, it's the language and abuse i mind.

    Courtesy and PvP

I have started noticing recently that courtesy and manners seem to be going out of the window in Sirens. I dont know if its beacause the zones are becoming more popular that more idiots are finding their way there or what.
For example yesterday while talking to a friend while i was on a hero we decided to fight. We'd fought for maybe a minute when a team of 2 came over and decided they were going to hammer the villain. I politely asked them to stop and was told erm...no. I've always respected 1 on 1 fights when i see them, 1 because i would feel dirty for stealing the bounty/rep and 2 because it's their fight, for all i know one might have chased the other all round the zone to get the fight then someone else swoops down and attacks. Maybe i'm too sporting i dont know. This kind of thing seems to be happening more and more.

More importantly is the amount of abuse and bad language i'm seeing. I'll give another example. Flying around Sirens i noticed an MM on a rooftop with a dead hero at his feet. So of course i went straight in and attacked (although i then found out that the villain was in PFF ) only to be abused and swore at. Apparently they were dueling, to which i replied erm no ur standing up there and he's dead, then was told they were talking. I wouldn't mind if it werent for the bad language and abuse i was getting right from the start because of it. I was rather amused at being called a n00b however as i've been playing almost since CoH came out in the EU, but apparently as the MM has been playing in the US since before that I class as a n00b This person is now the one and only person i have on /ignore.

I'm not saying that i'm an angel and never swear etc, i do, but very rarely in company and never in game over broadcast. Swearing has its place, which is not on the broadcast channel for all and sundry to read. Abuse however has no place anywhere.
  10. I suppose that might have been funny the first time ....

    Post count +1?

All the keep moving advice is rubbish. I demonstrated this while in beta. I got someone to superspeed past me. As they passed me my AS started and they got flattened. He certainly wasn't standing still and he got walloped by my AS. It's just a matter of timing. As for poping insperations to spot a stalker thats rubbish advice too. All the advice seems to point to. If you want to see a stalker you either have to take a power pool, team with someone with a power pool or constantly pop insperations. If I follow all the advice I have been given on stopping stalker one shot me I would have very few attacks, an insps box big enough to cover the entire screen and eye strain.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The advice isn't rubbish Khaine, just not fool-proof. Constant random movement doesnt stop a Stalker As'ing you, but it does however make his/her life far more difficult resulting in you dying way less often. For you to AS someone traveling with SS on either they are being predictable or you get lucky. Getting someone to SS past you isnt really a good test, ur getting them to run past in a straight line on a path that you know they will take.

Btw targetting drone with IR goggles sees stalkers.
  12. Ah didnt realise the last 2 powers in that pool were fear ones. Learn summit nwew every day and all that

Those would be handy, but would need to select 2 powers from it to have 1 fear power, and i reckon most builds would find it hard to find those 2 spaces for pre-30 powers for exemp in Sirens ( i say sirens cos thats where most PvP happens ). If i could have fit them in on Be-el i would but i've got no chance of sparing 2 powers on Regen, just too many essential powers. Could always put them in in the 40-50 powers next time i get a respec, but that would be pointless as Sirens exemps to 30 and Warberg to 38 or 40 cant remember which. Shame
  13. I never used to be a great fan of fly, but i tend to take that and superspeed now simply for air superiority. It's a pain trying to fit both those travel powers into builds for exemping in Sirens tho, i invariably loose out on SS there on toons.
  14. Perhaps i'm missing something here, but there is no fear pool as far as i'm aware, although i did see someone else mention the same thing recently
  15. Heya Pixie. I just respecced Be-el yesterday after advice from another DM on touch of fear. 2 Accuracy 3 ToHit Debuffs and 1 Fear duration seem to work a treat for me in one on one situations as my opponent can rarely hit me or possibly you could go for 3 Accuracy and 3 ToHit debuffs. Stalk-obot is prolly the best person i know to ask about spines although thats from a Stalker point of view or Impaler from the scrapper side of things. (possibly there are others better to ask, but these 2 are the ones i've noticed that know what they are doing with em )

    [ QUOTE ]
People having (or trying to have) 1on1 [honor] duels in a Free For All area has always brought forth a demonic cackle . The Arena is what that sort is for .

    [/ QUOTE ]

Some of the best fights i've had have been one on ones in Sirens. Last night for example i fought Arch ViDDen one on one twice in a row on my Regen Be-el, he was playing an invinc Brute. The first time i beat him after a drawn out battle, the second time he beat me after a similarly drawn out battle. One minute he was nearly dead the next my health dropped like a stone

Tbh i find the thinking of some like yourself that PvP zones are not the place for 1 on 1's a bit off tbh. Both in the arena and the zones 1 on 1 is possible as is team battles, this doesnt make either the exclusive place for them to happen. Of course if your having one on ones on a rooftop your bound to get the odd person come along and attack you while this is going on, but this is usually for a good reason, ie they didnt see the broadcast you put out asking both sides not to attack both who are dueling, or they dont have villain chat enabled etc. If they continue to attack while i'm dueling and have been asked by both sides i'll usually stop the fight then turn on them then once they are face down get back to the duel

Another of the best times i've had in Sirens was when -obot organised 1 on 1's on one of the domes near the villain base. It's not often you get to test your build properly against different AT's at once in the zones and i found that night very informative about how my brute handled. I could kill regens, but i couldnt kill DM/SR's i also rather shamefully got flattened by POSS on his blaster... Damn those toggle droppers

This is just my view on one on ones, and i fully appreciate that others may feel its not right for this to happen. We're all entitled to have our opinions

    Siren's Debt

It's prolly something to do with risk Vs reward. If you want temporary powers you fight at the hotspots with the risk of death by npc, the risk of debt by villain/hero or a mixture of both resulting in debt. We all know this when we go to the hotspots and its the choice we make. Most players will try to avoid getting another debt, but sometimes if the people at the opposite side are constantly fighting hotspots i personally will still jump in and attempt to kill them. One, because i cant be arsed waiting 15 minutes each time for the battle to be over then probably not get a chance to fight as they dash straight off to the next, and Two because i feel i should attempt to stop them gaining the temp powers which would put me at a disadvantage.

Personally i think it would ruin the idea of battling to regain control of the zone to access the temp powers if the debt was removed. It would just result in people jumping in carelessly and bouncing back from the hospital every 2 seconds making it a mindless bashing task.
  18. Hmm my bad then, i just assumed it would be broken for both as the same fix would have been applied across tanks and brutes.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
I managed to AS a stone tank in Sirens tonight with mud pots running fairly easily, I dont think this is a good change at all.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thats cos they broke mudpots in yesterdays patch. They now do nothing except taunt, no slow, no damage ticks, therefore no AS interrupt Hopefully it wont take them long to fix it or at least to revert them back to pre-patch till they can.
Anyone know if they broke Hotfeet also while trying to patch it?
  20. Nah Rock, it's Christmas... the time for miracles
  21. I really wouldnt like to see inside your head
  22. As it says in the title i'm wondering if there is anyone interest in transferring some influence across servers. Due to not having anymore slots left on Defiant i've started to make some on Union. The sole purpose of making them is for PvP so its a bit frustrating not to be able to pass down some of theinf i have on my 50's on Defiant to make them more PvP'able sooner

So if any Unionites have made toons on Defiant i'd be happy to give Inf to them if the same could be done for mine on Union

    Over and out,
    Zeph.
  23. This thread is getting rather silly now. If you want help ask for it clearly not ask for help then when suggestions are given say things like ah but i'm not talking about X build anymore i'm talking about Y build now. People aren't mind readers.

I doubt the devs should work on the descriptions of corrupters. Your original post was for a dark/dark buils which is a 'support' build, no manner of tweaking will make it more than that in comparism to other sets.

    [ QUOTE ]
By that logic I should slot a power with anything it can be slotted with. Enhancements are percentage based, thus it's a rather silly idea to try and enhance a "weak" buff/damage/debuff, because you wont gain much.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Perhaps you wont gain much, but you will gain. Dark sets are all about debuff, that is where they shine. That 5% unenhanced or 8% enhanced may not sound like a lot but when stacked with your other debuffs it certainly has great effect. But slotting of debuffs on a lot of powers you wouldnt normal do so on would depend on whether you are/were building this toon for teaming or solo.

    [ QUOTE ]
You mean they're (or rather "he's")... "transparent"?

    [/ QUOTE ]

As she said... they are "walk through" not just see through. Most pets get in the way, block doors etc, she was pointing out that 'Fuzzis" dont as you can pass through them.

    [ QUOTE ]
I must be missing manual skills, cos switching hover on and off (tried it once) was a real pain. Is the defense really worth enhancing? It seems really small.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Do you really find it so difficult to click hover on and off? Or are you avin' a laugh? What other Defense do you have that you dont need to bother with the insignificant defense a power you plan to pick would give you? I always slot 1 Defense enh in hover on my blasters as they have no other defense, i'd imagine i'd apply the same principle to Corrupters. But everyone does it differently, some slot for speed, i leave it at the one slot with defense in.

    [ QUOTE ]
I have little expirience with SF. As far as I've read on the forums, it's better to slot it with resists, and use it against specific attacks, rather than a defense skill. (I'm just repeating what I read now)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes it is better to slot it with resists, but the attacks it protects against are very frequent in the game... Energy/negative Energy/Psionics. Psionics doesnt appear that often in the game but the other 2 do.

    [ QUOTE ]
Range? Oh! Right. How bout a range in Tentacles too?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Putting a cone range in Night fall seems pretty sensible to me as it doesnt really have that wide a target area to begin with. And yes I'd put a cone range in TT.

    [ QUOTE ]
Well, that's cos I'm not playing from the start, but respeccing. Also, one get's much more enhancement slots post 30, so I'd catch up quick I believe.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes you get 3 slots each time 2 out of every three levels. although i agree that you have ignored slotting some of ur later powers at your own expense.

Tbh i dont really know why i posted this other than i think u are a bit out of order for someone seeking advice. Tone it down a bit and either agree or disagree with the advice given as you see fit without being condascending. It doesn't help.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
Are you actually playing the same game? Comparable to a Tank???
