  1. I decided on invis for this one as i think the suppress times are the same for it and stealth (correct me if i'm wrong). Thought it would do me more service than stealth with all the +perception goin round to combat those pesky Stalkers

Whats the best secondary for Dominators for PvP in peoples opinion? My Dom is only level 7 so i'm not averse to starting over again if i have to. Would rather get it right
I'm not really all that up on trollers/dominators as its usually defenders or scrappery types i go for. But well i think its now time for change
  2. Lol nah wasnt the police drones (i play stalker as main, i know most of the tricks of being seen ) it didnt matter where i was in the zone. The reason i was surprised is that as far as i can tell none of my Dark Defender powers are meant to give +perception. And i know the heros havent been seeing me as often as i was seeing them that night.
  3. Hmm hadn't been sure about flash freeze but thought i'd stick it in there near the end in case i was missing out on something Perhaps i should swap it for hasten, just a shame i cant fit it in sooner without taking SS as travel power.

What about arctic air? It seems pretty useful in PvE so far but unsure about how effective it will be in PvP.

I have only tried ninjitsu properly, EA stalker is only lvl 11 so cant really say much for that.
Tbh Stalkers don't rely on defense, well mine doesnt. I built mine with a more damage orientated build. From what i've seen so far the best defense i have is offense. Although i prefer the defense based sets more than the idea of regen due to the fact i have less chance of being actually hit by the remaining team mates of whoever i've just AS'd, especially with the amount of slow attacks that seem to be fired at me from the hero side (you know who you all are ).

I've never played an ice controller past lvl 5 never mind tried a Dominator, but this is what i've come up with for my PvP build. Bear in mind the idea is for this to function in a team.

I'd appreciate if people with a bit of knowledge on these sets could give a bit of advice and point out if i've gone wrong anywhere

    Cheers,
    Zeph.
  6. SS on it's own can be a pain on a Stalker. When trying to get away from the rest of a team thats just found their troller lying face down and are out for blood can be tricky.
If you go down the SS route for Stalkers LEARN the map before you start engaging as if you want to escape you are going to need to know all the shortcuts.

Tbh i'd say that for a SJ would be the best power for this AT. Looking at it from a Stalker point of view stalking, a hero who has SJ and uses it to its full advantage (yes you Agent Matron ) can be hard to target, and even when u have a lock can be hard to keep track of. Also handy for getting to opponents who think that hiding on buildings will keep them safe . When i finally can get the respec mission finished i'll probably go for SS and SJ combined.
  7. Yes your contacts may have forced you to go speak to a contact just inside PvP zones (which it was entirely possible to do within the countdown till active pvp you get). The 'Mission' as you describe it was to speak to someone inPvP zones. How many times have you been sent to speak to someone in a zone with mobs higher than ur own level before PvP zones were introduced? i remember a few times having to do that. However no one forces you to take the missions there. You have been complaining about the lvl 35-40 gap for a good number of months now, surely even street hunting would have leveled you through this in a much shorter period. If it bothered you as much as you say it does, why didnt you do something about it like heck i dunno be sociable and grit your teeth and go join some teams?

    [ QUOTE ]
Are you actually objecting to the fact that I run missions in Warburg? That I don't actively go looking for PvP in a PvP Zone? Are you complaining that I run missions in a PvP Zone and don't like PvP much? What's your objection to me being in Warburg?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Maybe you should rethink that paragraph. I never once said i object to you not liking PvP, being in Warberg or that you do missions there. I do however object to the label that you are applying to PvP zones and people because of 1 or 2 bad experiences in an 'empty' zone.
  8. I still don't get the i'm being forced into pvp zones because i cant get missions elsewhere thing. I've really not had much trouble on any toons getting missions between the lvl's of 35-40. Fair enough you solo a lot, but from reading previous posts you also team some of the times too, surely people you team with dont all not have any missions or contacts? And if you solo while unable to get missions due to having finished contacts/outleveled etc, then it simply your choice to continue soloing, you do have options whether you say you do or don't.
  9. On another note, wouldn't there be huge potential for RP in the PvP zones? I know it could be ruined by some, but choosing the least inhabited zone to use for it may help.
  10. Wordmaker, my point was more that an assumption that PvP is ruining the game from experiences in other MMO's and a couple of experiences in a zone which has been pointed out to be almost uninhabited doesnt really cover the whole story. Someone who isnt willing to try the zones that are mainly used for PvP cant really judge it as a whole in my opinion.

As i've said before, i used to think the arenas were a waste of time (for me they still are) as i've had roughly 3 fun experiences there. Since going to Sirens Call i've discovered a whole new aspect to the game. I never thought i'd say this but it has surprised me by becoming even more enjoyable than PvE. Not only do people interact more in the PvP zones, but the monotony of PvE missions just isnt there. The people behing the toons each employ their own individual tactics and have their own personality behing their character.
I don't deny that their are a few people who put the 'w' into gankers, but overall the community spirit that i've discovered there outweighs those enormously. It is a shame that the minority do ruin it for some people. To those people i'd say stick with it, visit Sirens at night and you may discover that you actually like it and that there is loads of fun to be had.
  11. Never designed to have PvP in it? Can any of us be sure of this?
  12. Bugged? how?

I was using IR on my dark defender last night and was surprised at how often i was spotting stalkers, while the rest of the team couldnt see them at all. Especially stalkers i know to have both stealth and hide. Not sure if i was maybe getting a +perception from shadow fall also, but it doesnt say that in the power description.
  13. Comparing them is valid yes. Basing your assumption on what you know from other games.. no. Basing your assumptions on the boards...definately not. You should no better than to judge an aspect of the game by what is said here on the boards. The arguments and flames that you read here just aren't present in the PvP zones on the whole.

Justification for continued posting about why you don't like PvP when you don't take part in it, haven't given it the slightest chance and zoom from mission to mission complaining that people attack you and run away, can't be given by saying PvP'ers are blah blah in X MMO, soo erm they must be the same here and therefore are ruining what could be a good aspect of the game.

Anyway enough of this nonsense, time for me to go have some fun in PvP instead of reading about why you and Aisla don't like PvP and the community there sucks just because erm well just because.
  14. I do read her posts, and i get a negative vibe from them hence saying she has a negative view of the PvP zones. I don't "Actively avoid reading" her posts. I just seee no relevance from judging CoV/CoH PvP from experience of other MMO's.

Farming is a single word that takes less to type than saying someone is doing missions over and over, you and aisla are doing missions over and over, therefore you are farming. It's a term not an insult.

I no longer play CoH, i spend all my playing time on CoV where i would say the heart of PvP is certainly not the arena. I have yet to meet a villain who uses it (not saying no-one uses it, i just haven't met any who have said they do).

Having bad experiences in other MMO's doesn't give a basis for slating PvP in this game. Both of you have said in not so many words that you havent given it a go and aren't willing to give it a go. If on the way to missions a Stalker takes pot shots and runs away, it doesn't show the game in a bad light, it is merely a Stalker doing what a Stalker has to do to kill a scrapper (hit and runs till the Scrappers panic buttons are recharging).

I'm sure aisla has had bad experiences on other MMO's but why say PvP in this game is crap just because she doesnt like it in others? I wouldn't start saying FFXI is boring therefore this game must be boring.
  15. Well for starters zone(s) doesn't just include one place. Most of my time is spent in Sirens. While it is relatively quiet during the day, in the evenings there are some battle royales going on. I'd say that most nights now there are at least 10-15 villains and heros on each side slogging it out sometimes many many more.
I'm not surprised that you find warberg quiet considering CoV has only been out for 4 weeks only leaving time for the hardcore gamers to reach high level. And besides, there are plenty of lvl 30 odds fighting in sirens, why not after all its where most of the lvl 50 heros seem to head.

So unless Union is utterly different than Defiant then yes i'd say it has taken off, for Defiant at least. There are certainly plenty of players like me that really did not think the arenas were useful but love the new PvP zones running around.
  16. Perhaps if you were interested in PvP and were more involved in it you wouldnt have this negative view of the people who take part. 99% of the people i've met in PvP have been a great bunch, and i'd go as far as to say that the community spirit that i had thought gone from the game has proved itself to be very much alive and kicking since i started going to Sirens.

Dashing through PvP zones to get to missions you are farming isn't exactly going to let you see the heart of this side of the game.
  17. Lol wish i hadnt deleted mine too... Ill/Storm would have been good in PvP But alas thats the way of PL'd toons they get boring then deleted (yes i PL'd that troller in Dreck for Hammi, i dont care ).

    Sigh, ach well lol
  18. What do you mean? Both heros i've went into Sirens with have been able to buy them the instant they get there without having fought at a hotspot.
  19. Hmm seems a bit excessive, it can take a great deal of time to move the bar an inch fighting at hotspots. Ach well time to get hotspotting
  20. I've asked a few people about how you get the temp powers in Sirens Call. The answer is always that the villains have to be winning on the bar in my Nav.
Now i've tried buying on my villain when the villains are clearly winning but to no avail. So this morning i thought i'd log on as a hero and see if heros are blocked from buying them. But surprise surprise my hero can still buy them even though the villains have well over half of the bar filled.

Does anyone have some clarification on how this works? It would seem a bit unfair if temp powers are always available to heros and never to villains. Perhaps i'm just missing something
  21. Stand until you fall? Why would i do that? I dont see many blasters hangin around when their health is low lol.

As for Stalkers following you around, i believe they are 'stalking'. Pain in the bum i imagine.

I know it's 'frowned upon' to repeatedly kill the same person over and over, but in a fight with a few stalkers on the team, if there is an empath CMing the heros i will go outta my way to kill him/her every time i'm near. Simply tactics of taking away our biggest threat...being seen.

I'd imagine that other people getting killed constantly could sometimes be down to this same tactic.
  22. Huge battle going on at the villain base just now in case anyone is interested. Been a great night

You have a much better way with words than i do
  24. [ QUOTE ]
My point is surely a pvp zone is just that, an area where u can fight against other players, not a place to have a chat with ur friends be they hero or other villians as u are sending out mixed signals!! If u dont wanna be attacked dont go in there in the first place!!?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's a bit of each really. A place to chat to friends on the other side, and a place to go kill each other. I like chatting with them while poking my ninja blade through them personally

If people ask not to be killed, generally everyone leaves them alone. But if you don't know that they want to be left alone, they can hardly fault u for stompin em
  25. [ QUOTE ]
Bit of a silly reply really, do you think any tank or scrapper is going to stand there long enough for you to land enough hits with brawl to drop all toggles at a 30% chance?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Somehow i dont think he meant just stand there and spam Brawl :/ Haven't u ever put a power on auto while fighting?
