I will try but litigation keeps me busy this time a year.

I want that TT badge to become a reality!

    Thor

I thought it was good with Ironman (1) being much better.

  6. Super Sidekick System without a doubt. Every MMO should have this as a foundation to keep casual players in the game.

Almost got this for my 4 year old. However it seems a tad unsafe for the little doodles.
  9. Finally scored a rare last night!

The moon must have been aligned with my fist.

Funny you mention that as it has been my experience as well.
  11. Having played a stoner for many years I would love the speed penalty (out of the box) just lessoned a tad. And as other posters have suggested the ability to move over a curb would be huge. Getting stuck on the lip of something is very annoying. Jumping should stay impossible because after all you are supposed to be rooted to the ground. At the end of the day though it’s all old hat to me. I think everything is more annoying for casual players or those who don’t want to invest in their character. I move around just fine with the run speed bonuses I have worked into my build.
  12. Highlander available again (looking for influence/infamy only).

    Bingo.
  14. I like the idea of participation rewards since we all know there is a percentage of players who are just along for the ride. However, depending on the character type some are unwittingly better suited for participation. I have considered myself 110% involved at every trial and have yet to see a rare. I have seen a healthy dose of uncommon rewards though on 15ish BAFs.
  15. I have been working only on my stoner and no major problems at all. But then again my teams (go EG!) have been great thus far. On a PUG I imagine there will be more toggle flipping involved.

So in short play with the team in mind. If you try to be Rambo you will faceplant regardless of the type of Tanker you are.
  16. Guess we are going again because I missed this
  17. Other than being sequestered so often (there should be a badge for that) I found the new trials relatively fun. I think the drop rate of shards/threads should be increased on Lambda. Otherwise like most trials players will just shotgun through them to get to the end.
  18. Something else to consider is the level of mobs you are encountering. Nasty purples are not going to get dragged around solely from a lone tic of an aura. They need to marinate for a bit before they realize the taunt soup has them covered. This is especially true if you have some trigger happy teamers throwing the kitchen sink around.

Therefore a well placed taunt (which will not miss) can help corral the baddies early and keep them glued to the tanker. In my experience being proactive is the best solution (especially on a PUG) because players in general are very impatient and will not give most tankers time to establish aggro.
  19. In Granite I'm 26.44mph and I love it. Mobility while tanking is very important!

    After 7 years

I just thought I would re-post my 1/10/06 interview of Dinah:

Any real life info? Age, profession, location?
    - 32, Secretary, Canada

When did you start playing COH?
    - I started playing on the CoH release date. Actually the CANADIAN CoH release date which was about 2-3 days after it was released in the States. I remember I picked it up in the morning, and then had to wait until after we were done grocery shopping before I could login. I read the entire manual while pushing around the grocery cart.

What made you buy the game?
    - I’ve always been a comic book fan. At first I read Archie comics, but then moved to Marvel for it’s more serious nature. I got hooked into the “soap opera” type story lines. Besides, you can only read Archie so many time before you say “COME ON!!! Are you an idiot!!!!Betty is the girl for you!!!!!! MORON!!!”

Have you played any other MMORPGs?
    - No. CoH is my first, and probably not my last. I doubt I’ll play WoW or and game like that. I’m not into the Sword and Sorcery thing.

What profession/type of character is your main/mains?
    - Dinah Might is a Tanker. (I’m sure you all knew that).

She was born in Dark Astoria, and was the daughter of Max King, leader of the “Dark Astoria Knights”. The DAK were the controlling criminal element in Dark Astoria, who was in a constant battle with theBanished Pantheon for control of the zone. After being betrayed bysomeone they trusted; Max was killed by Adamaster, and his children(Max Jr. and Dinah), barely escaped.

This event had different effect on the children. Max turned into himself and became bitter and angry. Dinah never wanted this to happen to anyone else, and decide to devote her life to help others.

Dinah’s current occupation is “professional adventurer” which is a fancy way to say she takes “Missions” to get “influence”. She is also attending Paragon University to complete her education (which she didn’t get while trying to escape Dark Astoria).

What do you think is the best feature of COH/ What do you love most about COH?
-hands down the character creation. It allows you to create your own personal characters. 80% of the game for me is the character.

What is the worst feature in COH/What do you hate most about COH?
    - Balancing. Originally, each AT was created to compliment each other, each playing a different role on a team, now each AT is being changed to defeat each other.

    - Tankers Inherent. Pointless for PvP, that needs to change.

    - No level 50 content.

Who do you look to for game advice when you have questions?
    - Most of the in game questions I search the boards for the answers. Most of my Tanker advice comes from Myr & Ring. However, I also take advice from Iron Vixen, Tiffany Seville, and Buffy Summers. I hope to meet them someday.

What is the most memorable thing you have done/seen while in game?
    - Meeting Mage Storm was probably the most memorable part of the game. He introduced me to Ring and Deadboy, who encouraged me to domore than just “login and play”. From there I met Mry, Ace, Crackback,Miyoko, Ranma, Flaming Intern, Bert, etc etc, the list could go on andon.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is driving through Paragon city on his new Harley Davidson Softail. He is suddenly attacked by Clockwork and you don’t have much time to react. Do you save Arnold or save the bike?
-You’d be surprised to know that first and foremost, Dinah Might would save Mr. Schwarzenegger. To Dinah the value of life is very high. The bike, where it is an awful shame, can be replaced. Besides, Dinah can fix the bike!!!

If you could change one thing about COH ATs/abilities, what would you change and why?
    - Street fighting, but I understand that is on the way. Originally I was going to be a scrapper, but Martial Arts didn’t fit my theme.
    - Wait, I change that! My ONE thing I’d change is “brawl”. I do think every powerset that has a chance to knock off toggles, just not brawl. That’s silly. The power should be one with a long recharge.

What is your favorite real life possession and why?
    - My lighthouse table. Custom made with a light in it. I like lighthouses.

Your party sucks. What song do you play to get everyone going?
    - Thriller. Ever see “13 going on 30”? Everybody likes to make fun of Michael, but hey we ALL loved that song back in the day.

    What is your favorite word?
    - Salsa. Say it Salsa.

What is your least favorite word?
    - Diversification

    What turns you on?
    - People who don’t have to ask this question but are able to do it.

    What turns you off?
    - braggers. You know what I mean.

    What sound do you love?
    - Silence. I remember being on the docks up North, listening to ….. nothing. It was very relaxing.

    What sound do you hate?
    - “Smacking” while eating.

What is your favorite curse word?
    - am I allowed to say? The mother of all. The big word.

What RL profession other than yours would you most like to attempt?
    - Is professional couch potato a job? I’d like to be a web-designer. Looks like fun. I know I need to learn a lot, but I find interesting.

What RL profession would you not like to attempt?
    - Farmer? I respect their hard work. I don’t think I could cut it.

If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the pearly gates?

    - “They are waiting for you” and by that he means that I am to be re-united with everyone that I miss so dearly. I have lost some very close friends and I miss them so much.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------

Good luck Dinah. You have and always shall be one of Champion's best!

  21. My Dark/Dark defender has been level 39 since 1879 when she burned at the stake for witchcraft...
  22. Let me preface this by saying I have looked at the SG/VG recruitment thread and it is not helpful.

After my last hiatus I was curious who has a semi-regular cadre on during the week. The background is my original SG (Select Few) is a shadow of its former self with guest appearances now and again from the old regulars. I’m looking for a place to hang the hat of a few of my new toons (praetorians, etc). As a caveat I will just get right out the fact that my work schedule is absolutely ridiculous and my play times often erratic. Therefore I cannot commit to any serious raid group or nightly teaming. I also do not want to join a group which is so structured that there is no place for a casual gamer. Finally any megalomaniac SG/VG leaders don’t waste my time as I have none for you. Therefore, if anyone is looking for an old grumpy tanker please send me a PM so I can evaluate where myself and maybe a few other friends may merge a few toons.

    Respectfully,

    -J
  23. Ugh…so many MMOs to think about. I would have to say events that happened during my DAOC career. This is before vent really took off and EVERYTHING was online via text chat. There was so much guild drama because of the way people would read into typed words. I also think back in MMO infancy worlds collided when people that had always been playing games online were unwittingly grouped with complete internet noobies. All the sudden you had this sub set of gamers who just did not understand the lingo, jargon or the jokes. Wait…that still happens!
