  1. Downloaded mids here at work and worked up a build similar to what you had going on and modified it a little. It's not too expensive (slavage probably will cost you more than the recipes, except for the zephyr knock back invention).

Here's what i've got, you'll use ninja run to get around until level 22 (If you don't have Nin Run then you'll need to make a few changes most likely by moving whirling sword to 22 and re-arranging some slots). Range and AoE are capped, Melee is sitting at 34%. Phalanx Fighting will bring up the defense of everything (putting range and AoE to around 50% if you've got one person near you).

A single application of parry you'll have defensive numbers of:
    49.3% Melee
    46.2% ranged
    48.1% AoE

You should have no problems double stacking.. Actually at 1.8s recharge you should be able to stack it 4 times but at 3 times that's 79.3% defense to melee which should stop those pesky romans.

Regen is a little buffed since you don't really have a self heal. You also get an extra 18% global accuracy.

    Altenrnatively,
  2. Unfortunately my pen drive died. So my stuff is on my computer at home.. I'd love to post my build which is relatively cheap to build (uses recipes that are pretty easy to find imo).

I may even tweak my build just to squeeze out more AoE and Ranged defense, but as it stands everything is capped (about 46% for each, more if there's someone in range of of that aoe self +def).

Honestly though.. Building for capped melee defense with BS isn't quite as necessary as it would be with any other primary. Build for AoE and Range. Try to get Melee into the mid 30s.. First of all above 30 should be mostly good for taking the alpha, but the big thing is you've got parry.. A single application of parry should put you well over the softcap of melee, and a second application would stop any melee cascading def failure..

So you definitely don't need to build for capped Melee as much as it seems.
I'll post my build I'm working with later.. But at level 16 I'm running around with capped melee without running deflection thanks to parry.. It's a very powerful tool.

Yeah I may end up doing something like that because how well dark synergizes with it.
I REALLY like how it works on the stalker.. So much so that she feels much more scrappy than my other stalkers.

Making a scrapper out of that seems like it may be pure win..
Especially since my stalker is level 39 and hasn't gotten to the perma some kind of timed protection stage yet, and is very VERY good about not being hit (more than regen can heal in a tick at least) or at the very worst that siphon life can't seem to give back.. mostly.

Very rarely do I find her using a click power... This may be my choice for sure!
  4. My first 50 scrap was Bs/Regen..
And it was awesome.. the added survivability of parry means that regen really REALLY pulls it's weight in melee combat.

I've thought about Kat/regen.. but it's bascially the same thing..

I've also thought about dark/regen (-tohit = better survivability which means that regen has higher potential). So I'm doing this on a stalker, who also has that great patron pool for Ghost widow.. If I can achieve my build there (and i'm close) I will constantly be able to have up instant healing, MoG, or the ghost widow Mog type power. So the scrapper version doesn't interest me.

I've considered Spines/Regen.. I enjoy spines.. But does it synergize with regen well? The aura at least keeps spines out the whole time and eliminates redraw.

Fire - Eh it's something but doesn't synergize the way i'd like.

electric - i suppose if I went for sapper mentality it allows for extra survivability with regen.. but neither of which really NEED the endurance savings.

Dual blade - I guess some of the effects such as knock down's and such synergize but i've got a WP version of this and can't really get myself to keep playing it past a point.

Ma definitely gets some survivability due to the effects.. It may be a good possibility (mitigate incoming damage with it), but again I've got a wp version of this and haven't enjoyed playing it as much as i'd like..

So I'm looking for you guys for what you think would be a surprisingly fun combo for me to create. I'm willing to give it a shot, even if it's a combo from above that I may not feel may be interesting.. Excite me over a build! i've got the scrapper itch!

But don't like 50% of the attacks in this game from the NPC's have an S/L component? So if you can capitalize on the S/L Defense by hitting the soft cap you should be doing better than someone who can only muster moderate levels from positional defenses.
  6. Hey Tal_N
I notice that on your phantasm you've got the chance of +rech proc.
    How does that work?

Is that a chance to get +rech (for you) anytime the phantasm attacks or only when you cast phantasm?

The resists and heals are nice, but I personally don't see a need to boost them too much. Now if the Ember Demon's single-target heal affected me, maybe, but...

I suppose if the Tier 2 were both the same (Both Ember Demons), I would slot in a resist or a heal, but since I don't have the numbers (nor do I honestly care that much...Let's let a number-cruncher look it up), I don't think the additional resistance or healing power is worth lowering the capabilities of the Hellfire Demon (which happens to be my personal favorite. >>)
Yup I was thinking along the same lines in this sense. But I wasn't sure if my thinking was at least justifyable.

I know my DS/Pain does a pretty decent job keeping the demons alive with the heal aura and such but sometimes just gets overwhelmed, so I wasn't sure if there was maybe something else to consider.

I think on my DS/Therm I'm planning, the damage shields along with the heals should make the demons pretty hearty.

OF course the DS/pain should be better once I can slot more res into world of pain.
  8. I can't figure out what's ample for them.
Are they more playing the roll of protectors?

I mean they have the shields right?

I'm going to be playing as a thermal with this particular ds MM and I can't help but think I should assess how to best slot the demons.
  9. wow thank you for those insightful words...

When emailing stuff cross server are you guys just emailing to your global?
  10. Thanks guys for that tip.. Time to go evaluate some of my vill 50's across the serves and see what i've got..

any idea on the reward rolls vs recipes you can get?

That may very well be a possibility.. Is there some kind of breakdown somewhere about what sets are associated with what roll levels?
For example my mastermind isn't looking for LOTG or anything.. I'm simply looking for some blood mandates.. So is that a bronze silver or gold roll?

That's what I get for not playing coh/v for a month or two.. I had no idea they added such things...
Can you transfer from server to server too?
    That's pretty great!
  12. Yeah that's kinda what I figure'd I'd have to do.
Crap news is that on this particular server this is my only vill thus far and my sg has one of those, "base level characters can't take anything from the Sg bin."

    whoopie...
I wish we could have a "bank" for our own account or something.
  13. Hey everyone.
I love this game, but generally end up playing hero side more often than villain side.. the big problem is when I get to that milestone of level 32 I usually go out and try to find some level 35 IOs and start the IO process..

On hero side it's not usually too big a problem (well it's been worse since AE started I guess..) but on villain side it is just flat out horrible.

I don't earn enough merits to piece together my sets at a reasonable rate and the market for everything always seems to have zero in stock..

Is there some other way to find these recipes? I have so many villains that stall around level 32 because I can't find the IO sets i'm looking for..

I have a pretty simple pistol concept.

Its a guy with guns who shoots people who he thinks are evil.

Funny enough its the same concept for my hero and my villain.

    Blappers??

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
I've always wanted to try a blapper but have never had the courage to start working one.

So the question is, what primary and secondaries are best suited for it?

    I've heard energy/energy
    Fire/energy
    electric/energy
All having decent synergy with the blapper mentality.

Would I be going down the wrong route picking any of them?
    Is there something I missed?
    What pools are recommended?

Leaping - +def and mez protection
Fighting - ? Costly, but worth it?
    Fitness - Obviously
    Speed - Hasten?
    Medicine - Self Healing

    How about Epics?
Force Mastery seems to stand out with PFF, TI and FoN all giving some nice defensive bonuses.

I'm very much considering making a blapper now though, just looking for more information.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This may sound strange, but I'd say an i15 dominator.

The new buffs make them into blapper2.0's.

Not all that much less damage than a st blapper, but heaps more safety.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You know... I noticed that myself...
  16. Oh and on top of that the accuracies of the melee attacks are rather underwhelming.. If you're planning to use them at all you may need more slots given to them.

Your build probably would be annoying to deal with as a close combatant, but with no def debuff protection you'd be slaughtered by cimoreans after the first one hits, or defenseless when a CoT drops a quicksand patch..

And at least until level 38 you're going to be severely struggling with endurance with weave and maneuvers and CJ running.. Unless you plan to not attack.
  17. Maybe i'm missing something, but it seems the only thing that is well defended against is smashing and lethal..

Everythign else is decent, but not stellar.. So a fire blaster/corr or ice or whatever seems like they'd rip a pretty big hole in ya rather quick.

The regen at 391% is somewhat impressive however that's only 24 hp/s which is under half of what an /regen scrapper gets just by clicking IH without adding any enhancements, the other toggles, or any +hp they may gain..

And having played a bs/regen scrapper who spams parry every other attack and can frequently get 110% defense (only the first 45% counts) to lethal and melee, I can certainly say that IH alone would not be enough to keep me alive under the right conditions (ranged combatants doing anything but lethal damage?)

    So no.. definitely not unkillable.

thanks for all the extra info guys..
    And happy Birthday Miladys

    Blappers??

Yeah I read the nrg/nrg guide about blapping and it seemed pretty solid. It's probably one of the things that got me thinking about the fact that i've never actually made a blapper..
  20. Hrm..
I never really thought of the fact that Archery really doesn't have all that great synergy with EM.. I mean I guess the ranges are already so high that boost range really isnt' going to make a huge difference..

Well.. Now I don't know what I want to do.. haha
  21. I'm trying to decide between the two.
Obviously archery gives the second build up which is nice.
Power Boost doesn't seem to synergize with either of them overly well so I'd probably be leaving that one out.

For EM I would probably be skipping:
Energy Punch (Just no room in a ranged build)
    Stun and Power Boost

And planning to pick up Body Armor, Surveillance and LRM for Munitions.

Of course If I took Power Boost I could always pick up Cryo Freeze or Sleep and get some enhanced effects..

What would you choose, Archery or Assault Rifle?

I don't think a Web grenade really strikes me as a ninja thing.. To me that kind of thing is more technology based.

and if you want to stick with the "weapons mastery" then don't pick the targeting drone.. It's not really a weapon now is it, where as a grenade, caltrops, and shurikens are.

But I can certainly think of making a tech style scrapper (claws/whatever) whom has tech style blades (I've got a few actually) who just so happens to have a utility belt to toss a web grenade or some caltrops, while having a little personal assistant helping point out weak spots on an opponent hovering around.

What I don't have room for is "shrurikens" which are the size of my character's body..

Let's make them believable sized first. But see.. Since they don't fit my concept, my scrap won't take them..

    Problem solved.

And I'd also like to point out that while your solution may seem to be the "easy" solution, the easiest is just not taking the power instead of asking for new programing to allow it to be customizable. Plus that, what would you change it with that would make sense for a martial artist?

Last time I saw ninjas being portrayed there wasn't something floating around their head anyway.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, of course, the easiest solution is do nothing, but then why have a Forum for CoX if the goal is to do nothing?

And actually, Web Grenade is the exact type of trick a ninja would employ, as are Caltrops and Shurikens. All pretty low-tech to build and quiet when employed.

What would I add as options for Targeting Drone visuals/sounds? The ones from Kuji-In Rin, or Danger Sense, or even Temporary Invulnerability. Goggles would be a good option for some characters. Some players would of course keep Targeting Drone.

    [/ QUOTE ]

a shuriken and caltrops are WAY lower tech than something that explodes and is designed to lock someone in place...
If it was a smoke bomb, I'd agree, but the concept of web grenade really isn't ninja esq.

  25. Hey OP, how come there is no love for stone?

Stone if you take the armors (at least all but brimstone), is actually a pretty decent set even outside of granite..

And then you've got granite for the worst of situations.
