Quote:For keeping track of threads, try looking under the drop down at the top of the page named "Thread Tools". You can subscribe to the thread there.Ola.
- When someone replies on a thread of your interest (not sure if there's already a "watch thread" feature).
- When someone PMs you.
- and whatever other options that might be of interest. Actually there could be an option to configure your own preferences (ie: notify only when someone quotes you).
For PMs, try looking in your User CP (All the way at the top of the page)>Edit Options. It has a few things that you may find useful. -
Much better looking now. The hidden faces on the bosses really works, and they feel much more mystical. They are still a bit too spiky for my tastes (Seriously, how does that Ruin Mage move without all the spikes getting hooked together?), but I can live with it. Really a huge improvement, thanks for listening to the feedback.

Quote:If it looks like a large blue box, we are so screwed.Just about the only thing we know for sure about those guys is that they use Kheldians as power sources for their 'ships' (we don't even get told what sort of ships; could be space, time, world-hopping, etc.),

What website said not to use it? The only way you can get into the game now is to use the NC Launcher. It is supposed to work with Steam, but I am afraid I don't use Steam so I don't know anything about setting that up.

Quote:That is interesting, but I guess not surprising when I think about it. Get you hooked on them with the free ones from the Rewards to suck you into buying them in the market. They are, according the today's Facebook Friday, available for purchase on the market:
To be absolutely fair, they could have been replying to this question instead:
Either way, it seems very clear that the majority of the Tier 9 consumable rewards aren't exclusive to the Paragon Rewards program. -
Quote:Well, I was going to link to this post by Ghost Falcon, but Dr_Darkspeed beat me with the reference from todays Facebook Friday. And I remembered it incorrectly, it is additional PPs with bulk purchases. So 1200 would cost $15, but might get you an extra 200 PP, which may be even more encouraging toward bulk purchases, but still makes subscribing a much better deal. That would be encouraging. Do you have a link to the exact quote or some kind of citation. At this stage, it's probably too much to hope for seeing a complete schedule for where the breaks for price discounts lie, but maybe we can get some idea.
That's only for each 1200 PP purchased at the store, though, not accrued as a VIP subscriber. At that rate, the additional Reward Tokens make only a fractional discount when applied against the new veteran rewards.
Yes, you only get a Reward Token for buying 1200 PP. But that is what would encourage the bulk purchase. If I only had to buy 800 to go with my 400 free ones, I would obviously be less inclined to purchase the 1200. Which is one reason I bet they will have a bonus amount at the 1200 PP cut off.
And the Reward Tokens don't really give a fractional discount, they give you things you can't purchase in the store at all, whether the Tier 9 consumables, a Nemesis Staff, or the /auction house command. Even those of us starting out at Tier 9 have to decide, do I want that new costume set, or some of the enhancement booster? Wait, if I spend even another $5 a month, I can pick up more stuff with the PPs in the store, plus in 3 months, I can get an extra Reward Token. Of I can spend $15 and get that token right now, plus some extra PP, so I can pick up the the new powersets NOW rather than being patient.
Quote:Wow I thought you were using that as a hypthetical example of a worst-case scenario. I didn't realize that -actually- happened in another game.
At any rate I don't think it'll come to that extreme in this game because the Devs here have a good track record of being reasonable and (mostly) sane. -
-
Quote:Actually, it will encourage buying in bulk. Not bulk items, bulk currency. They have said that while the basic price is 400 PP for $5.00, buying more at once will get you discounts. With each 1200 PP getting you a Reward Token, I will be that you can pick up 1200 PP for say, $12.50 rather than $15.00. Not as good a deal as subscribing, but close.Quite so. The a la carte system just kills off bargain-hunting by buying in bulk - unless of course the Paragon Marketplace does wind up offering bundled special sales. The soundest method for dealing with the system is to set a budget once the final prices and selections have been announced and make purchases on that basis. (I've been mentally amortizing the Boosters I've picked up and budgeting my subscription accordingly for ages.)

I would 4 slot Invincibility and Weave each with 4 LotG, and drop 2 LotG into Tough Hide, with a +Recharge in each. You still end up soft-capped, and your accuracy, recharge, hit points, and regen are all greater. Taking 15 seconds off your recharge time for DP is always a good thing.

I called customer service and they emailed me a list of what I had.

Quote:Never knew about that command, thanks. I obviously don't spend enough time memorizing the slash commands./cleartray
Then pull your powers down from the powers window to wherever you want them. After five years here, I don't have enough powers that I use often enough to merit more than 5 (maybe 6) power trays open. You don't have to have a spot for every temp power you've ever earned. Honest Injun!
THAT SAID!!! I *do* wish they would preserve icon placement for "chosen power exists both before and after respec", but there is an alternative to fumbling through completely full power trays. But it isn't that I want to have every temp power out. I actually only keep out a couple. I just had to laboriously go through and remove each one from the trays, then put all the powers I do want in the right places, like all the teleports in tray 9 on the right side of my screen. The only character I have 5 trays up for is my main, with the original 3, plus one for all of the Accolade powers and the teleporters.

Quote:Thanks for the info. It is really sad, I just spent a couple of hours on the wiki working on a PopMenu project and never though to check the command line options there. You can find some of the options listed at, surprise, Paragon Wiki (your best source for all game info).
For setting the display, the tags to add to the command line are as follows:
-screen x y
In the above tags, x is width and y is height. So, to set it to 1280 x 1024 you would use the following:
-screen 1280 1024 -
Quote:My character has his primary as the jacket and secondary as the shirt in the number one slot. I thought they had added that option, because I remember him having a white shirt, but I could be misremembering, it has been a long 7 years.Nope, I wasn't in the City of Heroes beta. I'd never heard of the game until a month or two after it went live. (According to NCsoft's account management widget my game account was created in May 2004.) The one I'm talking about was that way until... I forget when they added the first batch of those other jackets. At least the first couple of Issues. Though I did misstate how the color selection worked above. Color 1 was the jacket and tie, Color 2 was the shirt; the lower sleeves were a separate part, like Gloves etc., that could be set to a different color from the rest of the jacket for no evident reason.
But there is no way to check since if I choose that slot in the tailor, the top just disappears. Or at least it did the last time I tried it a few years ago.

Quote:This! After 7 years here, with all the Booster Packs, the temp powers, and Vet powers, I dread doing a respec on my main. The last one I did, all nine trays were filled to overflowing. And the primary and secondary powers were almost the last ones placed in the trays. I spent way more time putting things back where they belonged than I did actually doing the respec. And the worst part is, I messed up on a power pick, and will have to do it all again!- Power trays "resetting" after a respec. It should preserve placements of powers that you keep.

I am assuming you mean in Beta, since the character I created a few days after launch didn't have that particular look. His current costume in slot 1 hasn't changed since they added auras, since I am not sure the parts to recreate it are in the system anymore. And I don't like the looks of the newer suit jackets much.
-
Quote:This sounds like a good idea, but while I know how to pass the command lines to the game, I don't know what they are, especially the ones for display options. Is there a thread around here that has that information? You could create separate shortcuts to the game itelf (opens the launcher and starts the game from same shortcut) and put the separate command line options in the shortcut instead of in the launcher. Name the shortcuts CoH Laptop Display and CoH Monitor Display so that you can tell which is which.

Quote:The original business jacket with a tie was also removed completely. One piece, white shirt, primary color was the jacket and sleeves, secondary was the tie. No overlay. They have added something like it back in, but not quite the same.Usually it has to do with certain pieces being renamed or moved to a different section. The only costume piece that I know of that's been completely removed are the "Malaise" pants. Search around in the tailor, and you should be able to find everything again.

Quote:They are still going to give out Vet badges, no details on how, when, etc.I have a few questions that I havent seen addressed.
will the new rewards system continue to grant vet reward badges that we have not gotten yet or are we screwed from getting future vet rewards any more
I know a lot of badgers would be upset by this especially in badge tracking.
in regards to the character slots are the new earned ones be able to apply to an already currently full server? what I mean is I have max slots on my prefered server and they are full of mostly 50 so as it is now, unless I am able to get in on a free server transfer event then the new character slots are useless to me unless I can expand the number of slots per server beyond what we currently have.
36 slots per server. If you are already at that, then you will have to wait for the free transfers every month or purchase some for real money. -
Quote:I got rid of my Facebook account (well, it took me almost a year to find out how to actually delete it, that part of the site is well hidden) right after they changed their terms of service to say that they owned the copyright to any pictures I uploaded. I know there was an uproar over that and they changed it again, but they continue to make those kinds of changes to their policies, always as quietly as possible to avoid notice. I won't use a service with that kind of attitude toward their users. It is the same reason I no longer have a Twitpic account, and that I do as little business with Walmart as possible. Is there a reason people can't make a Facebook profile to get one?
I don't particularly like social networking, either, but if you want something and the only way to get it is to sign up for such a site (for free, mind you), then you either do it and get the prize or don't and have no leg to stand on in the argument. If you're not trying simply because you don't want to be on Facebook, then the only one you can blame is yourself.
Yes I could create a fake account to use for stuff like this. But that would require lying to them and agreeing to things I know I am not actually agreeing with. That is a bit too cynical for me.
Yes it is my choice not to sign up for Facebook in order to try and get this emote. And if they never have it available any other way, it will be my choice to not get it at all. And there are other companies that have done the same kind of thing that I have missed out on. But I am also able to tell them I do not appreciate it when they do this stuff, and that it makes me a disappointed customer, so they can have that feedback the next time they do a promotion. -
Quote:Is that all? Here is my very first character. He made it to level 29 from 27 3 weeks ago. He was created on the first day the game was for sale. There is one other from that period that is level 30, the other 3 or 4 dozen from the pre-Issue 1 era are just getting into their 20s. Well, most of them. But they will get to 50 eventually. Unless they shut off the servers on me first. My 1st 50 took 3 years. now its more 4-8 months because of altitis. But I still have 2-3 I1 toons in their mid 30's that I don't use often, so their clocks are still running

Quote:Unless that "reasonable shot" is some method that does not include Facebook, then there will never be a time every that wants one will get one.I was told just after the panel at Comic Con (a friend of mine texted me about it while I was there) that this is just the first round of facepalm codes. They will do the promotion again at a later time, to the point that anybody who wants one has a reasonable shot at getting one.
Quote:Oh, and for those grousing about living in Rhode Island with regards to this promotion? Just be thankful you don't live in Canada with most US contests/sweepstakes. Because of our laws requiring a skill-testing question (usually a rediculously easy math question, that any 4th grader could do) we are routinely shut out of many online/magazine contests that originate in America. I'm just glad that I was able to get this promotion.
And this time they have managed to leave out people that are nominally able to get the code because they are doing it exclusively through Facebook. At least when they are excluding Canadians, Europeans, South Americans, etc., they are doing so because of legal reasons they have no control over. -

If you spend your time playing lots and lots of Alts -- it will take a very long time. -
Quote:It is sad that in over 7 years, that is the first explanation for that I have seen.It "appears" commands are read in reverse order when you string several power execution commands in a row. If you string powers A, B, and C, power A attempts to activate first, but B interrupts it, then C interrupts B. And so, only C goes off. While C is recharging, and you attempt the bind again, A attempts to go off but is interrupted by B; and since C is recharging, it doesn't interrupt B and B goes off. Then when you hit the button again, only A goes off because B and C are recharging. So, when you hit the bind 3 times, you see C, then B, then A go off.
But, in fact, commands attempt to go off from left to right.
