Broadcasting is among the worst methods of getting a team in a game that's as largely instanced as this one. For it to work, the team has to 1) happen to be in the same zone you are, 2) outside, 3) at the time you broadcast. And this is assuming you're broadcasting using the best possible method ("Level 41 Ice/Rad Controller LFT" vs "lvl 41 lft" or "ned teamz")
It's far more effective to use methods that don't have the flaws listed above, methods that people will see while they are traveling between zones or in instances (which is greater than 90% of most everyone's playtime). Such methods inlcude Global Chat Channels, active SGs/Coalitions, and well-maintained friends lists. Of those, the Globals are the easiest and the one you can use immediately as you build up the third and look for the second. -
Now that you've settled on an AT (Scrapper), you might post in the Scrappers forums for more specific info and help on your Scrapper and advice on how the different Scrapper sets play.
That said, there are significant differences between Katana and Dual Blades. Dual Blades is built around a combo system (thus far the only powerset in the game that does this). This means that you have to take most if not all of the powers in the set if you want to be able to do all the combos. Katana is more of a straightforward attack set and also offers Divince Avalanche, an attack power that does minimal damage but boosts your Defense, making you harder to hit. Both powersets are similiar in that they use swords and do the Smashing/Lethal damage type. -
I generally try not to comment or critique on someone's spelling/grammar/composition unless it's so bad that it causes problems with my ability to understand what is being said. However, this is a print medium and those who point out the fact that the OP's posts are replete with errors have a valid point.
No one really expects perfection in composition on an internet forum (well, most people don't), but by the same token if you throw together a really sloppy post then it reflects poorly upon you. It suggests a sloppy or disorganized thought process, or that you simply don't care enough about what you are saying to construct a coherent sentence. If you yourself don't care about what you have to say, why should anyone else? -
It's a couple of things.
First, many players have a very narrow scope of knowledge about the game. For example, I've known many people who played only Scrappers, knew about only Scrappers, and cared to know about only Scrappers (I'm not saying that everyone who prefers or exclusively plays Scrappers is like this, of course, just go with it). Such a person, with a very limited knowledge of powersets and therefore of builds, tends to gravitate to FOTM (Flavor of the Month) combinations. These usually are builds with obvious synergy and/or very obvious min/maxing going on. Fire/Kin Controllers or Stone Armor (Granite-centric especially) Tankers would be examples of this. These players tend to gravitate to the FOTM and dismiss anything else because they're ignorant and assume if it's not FOTM then it must suck.
Second, you have the powergamers, people who only want to play a character if it's as ridiculously powerful as they can make it. Not all min/maxers are like this - plenty of people just enjoy tweaking and getting the most out of their characters - but some people declare anything short of the absolute min/max to be 'unplayable'. You see this a lot as a way to dismiss powersets or builds that don't conform to a preconceived idea of the 'right' way to min/max something. I see this quite a bit with Controllers as some people see a Fire/Kin and then have a concept of Controllers as a high-damage AT. Then they try to use that do dismiss the Mind controller as useless.
Third, you've got people stuck in mindsets from other games. ____ Defender doesn't heal, so it's a bad healer, and we need a healer, right? Gotta have a healer or we won't make it. Granite or GTFO, those are the only tanks worth anything... and so on.
Ultimately it comes down to ignorance and/or stupidity. Sometimes you can fix ignorance - often I'll get on PUG teams with a non-FOTM character and players will be suprirsed at what I can do, maybe even broaden their horizons a bit as to what different builds can do in this game. Of course, you can't fix stupid. -
Short answer: I think the change makes sense. I think the timing of the change doesn't.

With a level 10 or higher character, go to the SG Registrar and follow the prompts to create your very own supergroup. SG Registrars can be found in Atlas Park, Galaxy City and Port Oakes.
In Atlas/Galaxy the SG Registrar is inside the building in the center of the zone (same one that houses starting contacts). In Port Oakes the SG Registrar is in the Marconeville neighborhood in the tallest building in the zone with the large red Arachnos banners on the side. -
It's also worth noting that the arcs given by Lazarus and Tesseract aren't true TFs. Like all Ouroboros arcs they use TF mode, but that don't have many of the restrictions or rewards of true TFs. For instance, you can (in theory) do these solo. Many people do need help to complete them, though.
Your server's forum is probably the better place to post, or at the very least you'll need to specify the server you play on here if you want anyone to be able to find you. -
Depends. If your goal is to make a farming machine, almost certainly no since Flashfire/Fire Cages gets the job done, recharges faster, and isn't PbAOE. I find it useful on my Fire/Kin but I team at least as much as I farm on him and I like having as much control as I can since Fire Control is light on control anyway.
What other powers are you considering in place of it? -
I can't recall where I heard it, to be honest. As far as I know, it's accurate, but I can't seem to find a source on a quick search so I'll relegate it to rumor for now.

Welcome to the community. As you've already noticed, Kheldians have changed quite a bit since their inception. It's unlikely that anything short of a boss-class Void will give you much trouble, and those only spawn in 7-8 man teams (keep this in mind when upping your difficulty and realize you'll face them if you set yourself to x7 or x8).
Have you teamed much with your PB yet? Cosmic Balance now works in all the forms, and you may find its contribution quite noticeable on larger teams. IO Set bonuses also carry over to all forms. -

They're definately fun, but as Square said if the overall purpose is to be a farming character then it's not going to be as good as the typical farmers are. A very well-built Warshade can farm, absolutely, but not as fast or as well as others might. If I were you I'd play it just to enjoy it and then decide at 50 whether to make it into a farmer or not. But that's just my perspective, YMMV.

I am by no means looking to outdamage my scrappers. I think you hit the nail when you talk about "what a kheldian can do" such as heals, nukes, change forms to adapt etc.
I was hoping to create "a viable scrapping tool" meaning, something that will hold its own in the thickest battle, deal enough damage to be significant in a team (though obviously not as much a scrapper) but with lots of options, described above.
So in short, I guess I a am not looking for another scrapper as is, but a scrapping kheldian, with what being a kheldian means, is what I am looking to build.
Am I making sense? -
I'll echo The_Alt_oholic in saying whatever you want to play. Defenders, Controllers or Tankers make good picks just because they fill a common niche that PUG players look for (especially very inexperienced PUG players), so being one of those may help things flow more smoothly. Kheldians also make great team leaders since they can often pinch-hit in several roles and may be something new and interesting for some new PUG players.
However, in my experience the one thing people (both newbie and veteran) want in a PUG leader is efficiency. Most people do not care what you are so long as you keep the team moving briskly from mission to mission and keep the XP flowing. You don't even have to be all that stellar at playing your character (helps if you're at least competent though) - if you do well at the administration of team leadership, that's all people really want. People hate leading teams and will be very happy if you do it for them.
I've never had a problem forming at leading PUG teams for as long as I was inclined to play, simply because I'm not afraid of the leadership role. -
Just to clarify this last bit:
If the OP and his wife are the only people with any characters in the SG, there is no danger. The group will still be there just as you left it when you return.
However, if there are any characters at all belonging to any other players and said players log in during your absence, they gain control of the SG and could do anything they wished (including destroy the group entirely).
So just make sure, before you go inactive, that there aren't any characters belonging to other people. I would kick inactive characters that aren't yours or your wife's just to be safe, with a polite in-game email explaining the kick if you feel it necessary. -
No, once you get the mission that's what you have. The only other option would be to run the arc in Ouroboros once you hit 50 and get to that mission - of course, this would mean you would be unable to invite people onto the team.
That said, there has been talk of options upcomign in Going Rogue to drop and restart contacts and arcs, so it may be possible to 'reset' the contact entirely in the future and get the mission given to you again at the desired level. This is not possible currently.
Generally speaking the easiest thing right now is just to pay close attention if there's a particular misison you want to farm at a particular level and take care not to acquire the mission until you reach that level. -
Given the way phase powers now work, I'd agree that a reduction in the endurance cost would be nice. Quantum Flight does have the distinction of being the only instant-activation phase power, but with the new limitations on phase powers I can see dropping the cost. At least the cost is not as high as it once was.
The above comments are correct about the flight speed cap - once you reach that, any further flight speed is wasted, which is why you don't see the full speed you expect. It stops at the flight speed cap.
QFly is quite good in certain circumstances, but is not good as a travel power. -
You will need to use a rotating bind (the text file loading system you referred to).
A single line bind will attempt to execute every command in the line - there is no way to build in a pause. This, combined with the time limit on costume changes, means that only the first change will execute and then the rest will fail.
It's actually impossible with any system to move through multiple costumes in quick succession because of the time limit. You could possibly do a work-around of this using SG mode, but two of the "different" costumes would have to be identical except for colors and chest symbols. -

That said, especially on high-RP servers like Virtue, there are scheduled events where little to no combat takes place and characters act out story. There are also administrative-type social events such as SG meetings which sometimes take place in-game.
Outside of role-playing groups, pure socialization without gameplay is relatively rare for any extended period of time. Long conversations occurring concurrently with gameplay is more the norm in my experience, especially among longtime acquaintances / SG members.

I'm not by any means saying that women don't enjoy those two genres, just that the fandom tends to be disproportionately male and in my experience the fandom for this genre is slightly less disproportionately male.

None that I know of offhand, but it's certainly worth a look. As a general rule groups don't advertise based on their geographic location, in my experience, but if you put out a call you ought to be able to find something. Many groups aren't even all in the same time zone, let alone the same metropolitan area. -
That depends on what result you're expecting. You say that you love to blast and tank but that scrapping remains your true love. Will a human form-focused PB be viable as a scrapper? Yes and no.
Will it be as good a scrapper as a Scrapper? No, not really. No mez protection outside of Light Form (or White Dwarf, I'm not sure how exclusive "mainly human" is for you) is a major difference and without Criticals your damage can't hope to match a Scrapper's. Nor should it.
What this kind of PB does do very well is perform a mix of blasting, scrapping, control and tanking functions (even a bit of healing if you take Glowing Touch). With two self-heals (three if you have Dwarf), you're very survivable as a PB and on a team with many squishies Cosmic Balance will make you tougher still so that you can take some punishment. You've got some good single-target melee attacks and several ranged blast powers. And let's not forget you can nuke.
It all comes down to what a "viable scrapping tool" means for you. If you're trying to outdo a Scrapper at scrapping, you're headed for sadness. But if you take the PB for what it is, I think you may be headed for a very enjoyable result indeed. -
They carry over. There are no exceptions. Of course, for very short duration click buffs like Build Up, you may lose most of the duration of the buff during the form change animation.
Toggle powers and passive ("auto") powers do not work in the forms, with the single exception of the inherent (Cosmic Balance/Dark Sustenance). The inherent does work in all forms.
IO Set bonuses also work in all forms. -

There is nothing wrong with Knockback or Knockback powers. Nor is there anything wrong with the Kheldian ATs or the KB powers in either of them. Idiots can cause problems whehter they have KB powers or not, it just happens to be an easy vehicle for frustrating others. It's a PEBKAC issue.

It's hard to say with certainty. In my subjective opinion, no, it didn't have a significant overall effect on server populations (and I play on several).
It's worth noting, especially if you've been gone awhile or you've got yourself used to other MMOs with more overland focus and less instances, that our game is almost entirley instanced at this point. This means you will not usually see a lot of people running around in zones because the vast majority of people are in missions at any given time. Not getting answers on broadcast - same issue. Effective use of global channels, good SGs and/or friends lists is key to getting teams quickly.
Personally I mostly get by on the global channels as my play times vary considerably, and I do just fine.
