I got a PM about my earlier posts, so just to explain what happens when you crash. You will lose all endurance, your toggles will drop, and you will have no recovery. However, if you time Energy Drain properly, which can be done reliably with just a bit of practice, you will immediately receive full endurance and be able to retoggle instantly. Given that Overload will be increasing your max HP by 80% all by itself and Energy Drain will be providing a Heal along with refilling your blue bar, you will likely be at full health as you quickly retoggle.
I haven't died from this crash for quite sometime now and have even started just cycling it as often as it's up just for the nice feeling of being HP capped and having 87% DDR (and having over 100 defense to all types but psi...). I basically cycle between Overload and Conserve Power and never even have to use Energy Drain for endurance management except for in crash situations-- so it's reserved as a heal. -
Have you seen the demons after the tier 9 enchantment? Still meh? They look great with the particle effects filling their vacant eye sockets.

Quote:Yes. Here's what I do:Do you know of any way (currently in the game, or a possible change that could be made to the set) to improve the reliability of this combo?
Pay attention to the Overload icon, because it starts blinking 10 seconds before it crashes to warn you. If you look closely, the icon will blink for 9 seconds and then stop blinking and stay translucent for the last second. Make some type of mnemonic timing device-- a word or number, whatever-- and you can reliably time the recovery from Energy Drain based on the blinking icon.
This does take a bit of practice, but it's well worth it. I can basically time this and succeed over 95% of the time. -
Embrace of Fire with 30 seconds of duration is actually better for Fire Assault than Fiery Embrace would be at 20 seconds of duration, which it currently is. The new Fiery Embrace would benefit non-fire Control primaries more, but to the detriment of the assault set.
I'm glad they didn't change it. -
The combo multiplies the damage of ROF by 30% and stacks slows so that MOBs spend the majority of their time in the rain. At level 50, with just SO slotting, you will be doing over 300 points of damage to a spawn with that combo. If you are a Corruptor, it also scourges for even more damage.
It's very effective when teamed and you hit 10+ foes. It's not so amazing when solo and at low levels of enemy density. -
If you insist on going this route, take a look at adding an Aegis unique, and as many Impervious Skin Globals as possible. You could probably get about 50% mez reduction to all by going that route:: 7.5% x (Granite, Tough, Magma, Stone Skin) and 20% Aegis.

I too like Combat Jumping + Hurdle (two level 50 IOs here) for combat and Ninja Run + Hurdle for span movement.
DP + NR looks very good IMO. -
Quote:I personally view this as a perk to the set-- it has a powerful tier 9 that can easily HP cap a Brute. The best part is that the set has the tools to basically ignore the crash (CP/ED), which happens to be just -endurance/-recovery.Big holes to psi and toxic. Needs to lean heavily on its tier9. Takes a lot of work to softcap. On the plus side, it does get a minor self-heal and very good endurance management.
If you practice enough, you can time Energy Drain to animate a split second before the crash, and grant the +endurance after the crash has taken place. It's easier to do this on Energy versus ELA because Energy Drain animates somewhat slower. -
You will always have to deal with redraw on any weapon based set pairing (other then Arch/TA). But some pairings can really limit the amount of times you need to alternate clicking between primary and secondary skills. Kinetics is the worst. Here are two of the best IMO.
I'd look into a DP/Sonics Corruptor or a Sonics/DP Defender. You have an ally targeted -resist debuff that you put on a Tank/Scrapper/Brute and forget about, granting potent force multiplication and zero redraw. You cast shields every 4 minutes between combat and run a powerful toggle aura that grants +resistance and mez protection. Of your remaining powers, the Mez protection ally buff is situational, you can opt to just use the single target -resistance debuff on AVs/GMs/EBs, and Liquefy is a skill that you drop just once at the beginning of combat.
Another equally good pairing is */Radiation/* (Cor/Def). You basically drop your three most powerful debuffs of Radiation Infection, Enervating Field, and Lingering Radiation at the beginning of combat, then attack constantly. You won't be doing too much juggling of skills mid combat-- just debuff first, then attack non-stop. -
What's your friends build? It's better to pick buffs/debuffs that synergize with their build.
-
The new Fiery Embrace is anything but a nerf for Brutes, as has been pointed out.
-
I'm curious about your point of reference. What were they once, in your opinion?

I'd hold off on respeccing until the APPs/PPPs have their numbers balanced. Sleet might turn into Melt Armor...

Consume (i18 version)wins all the way. It has 15 seconds of 5% recovery per target hit and it grants 50% endurance resistance for 120 seconds. It also has superior targeting geometry (20' versus 8').

Hey guys-- I'm still impressed by how potent a perma-smoke flashed Oni is and created a /maco to make the process easier. If there are any Ninja players out there, give this a try:
- /macro Hide "pet_select_name Jounin$$powexec_name Smoke Flash$$pet_select_name Oni$$powexec_name Smoke Flash"
What this macro (or bind) does is target the Oni and cast Smoke Flash. If the Oni is dead, it will target a Jounin instead. Click the macro or bind key twice to be 100% effective in casting. This eliminated the annoying juggling between targets and pets mid combat, and reliably lets the Oni land his critical Rain of Fire and Fire Breath, which is where he shines. -
Thanks for all the additional info guys. The /petselect x command looks great.

Thank you so much. Could you by chance point me to a guide that has a list of slash commands like targetcustomnext? The ones that I have been looking at in the guide section and on the MM forum didn't have anything like that listed.
-
Hey guys, how do I target a specific henchman or even a specific player with a slash command? Is this possible? I am trying to create a single macro that will target the Oni and cast Smoke Flash. I can't seem to find any information on the language used to target a specific henchman or a player by name.
-
Bah-- let me get back to you on this. I might have a macro for you... What do you have so far that allows for you to target your Arsonist? I just got into creating Macros for my friend's MM.
EDIT:
Here is a macro that would probably work best for you, and be sure to use the Arsonist's new name if you have changed it. In order for it to fire reliably, click the button or hit the hot key twice. Make sure there are no extra spaces anywhere, especially at the end.
/macro Heal "pet_select_name Arsonist$$powexec_name Alkaloid"
/bind [key] "pet_select_name Arsonist$$powexec_name Alkaloid" -
Another thing I just noticed on my Mind/Fire:
The hold effect for Mind Control's Dominate and Mass Domination are a bit too subtle-- it's nearly impossible to tell who is held in combat. I'm not sure how this can be done, but some type of mez animation that is a bit more obvious would be wonderful when in a team situation. Confuse sticks out well with the purple bubbles popping. -
Quote:Yup. If you want to be as close to 100% sticky, you need Taunt. The fact that a superior agro generating set on a superior damage inflicting AT was only able to strip agro "a few times" is testament to how potent Tanks are when they don't even use all of their tools.Yeah thats actually not good. You should have them slots in taunt and never ever again rely on invincible alone.
My Ice/Stone uses Taunt regularly, and he always has the most opponents clumped on his person come Brutes, Tanks, Scrappers, hell or high water. -
Talsorian blades that fly through the air would be great. I have always wanted to change the look of those arrows as well. That's efinitely near the top of my list too.
