    Kinetic Melee!

Another set with long animations and "meh" secondary effects.

Like DP, I predict another pretty but underwhelming and underpowered set. Will probably sit near the bottom of the barrel in terms of effectiveness.
  2. Tried to play, realized I can't do the same old stale content any more, even if it was 4x XP.

Cancelled account til GR, hoping that it brings a ton of new mission maps and some new gameplay in.

Not a rant about the game itself, but anything that's as repetetive as CoX content is will get stale and boring after 5 years.

I have tried it, else I wouldn't be asking about it. It seems weak to me.

Is that just damage numbers? Because if the "worst" sets have more utility (Hold/sleeps/etc.) then even if it's better than them in pure damage, it might not actually be "better". After all, there's more to a set than just damage numbers.

Is it just me, or does this set seem ridiculously underpowered compared to other sets. Low damage, little useful utility. Right now it looks to me like the worst blast set. Why not make it at least comparable to existing sets? If this is the "New Toy" that's supposed to be part of bringing back old customers and gaining new ones, then I don't think it's going to be effective. It's a little bit like this video:

This is a build I've been working on after reading many a guide and comment over these boards, which I would not mind opinions on.

There are a few things I should point out before hand:
    - I am aware there are other Dark Armor/Mace Builds on this board, I would input on my own and not a copy paste of someone else’s.
    - This is intended to be a roleplay build, meaning there are some options chosen with the character in mind over gameplay, but I feel overall it should be no less playable than any other Tank.

The concept behind the build is a recently returned deceased, something of the Gentle Giant niche in Zombie form, who carries an old baseball bat wearing a soiled and torn leotard in a good and common heroic fashion sense, dedicated to keeping others out of their graves as he knows how lonely and frightening those places can be. He also happens to be quite frightful by circumstance. (he like I happens to be a fan of good bad horror films with a comedic twist in a classic Grindhouse style)

Things to point out on the build:
    - I know that in use with a Mace, Oppressive Gloom is preferable to most over Cloak of Fear. Cloak of Fear was taken for the mentioned concept. Invoke Panic was taken to enhance its purpose. The sight of a Zombie alone should provoke a startle, if nothing else.
    - Provoke was used instead Taunt for the sole purpose of opening the Presence Pool. It is the weaker of the two for its intent, though I have tried to supplement this with the damage output and taunt duration of Death Shroud.
    - Provoke and Death Shroud were taken later into the build. I have never understood a Tank who takes their Taunt early before they can manage what they are bringing to themselves.
    - The Recovery is a low 179% (3.2/s), the Regeneration is a low 260%. However, there is a 7% +max Endurance with a Performance Shifter: Chance for +Endurance in Stamina and a similar IO proc in Dark Regeneration, which has been designed to be spam able in an effort to also compensate for the low Regeneration. This is one of the main points I would like input on.
    - S/L Defense is not Softcaped. I don't care to Softcap it if it means taking something away elsewhere. Over 40% next to a 70% S/L Resistance is still very functional. Nevertheless, if you have another idea I would like to hear it.
    - Yes Soul Transfer. Who doesn't like to see a Zombie rise from the dead.
    - Double points if someone is able to work a Chance for Negative Damage in there someplace.

I did manage to get it to respond, but it won't take new key assignments.

For example, I assign a button that is currently assigned "2" to "Space", it changes in the profile editor, but in game, it still only works as "2" (and that's after saving the profile, exiting, reloading the profile, rebooting the game, etc)

Does anyone use this? I have one, and it works fine in WoW, but for some reason, it simply does not respond in CoH, even with the profiles, etc. set up correctly.

As for the quality or unfinished weapon animations for Ninja Run, which would you be referring to? I'm sorry you don't feel this is content is worth the cost of a couple of fast food meals, but even though it may not be apparent to you the new travel power alone was a tremendous amount of time and work for us.

Booster packs are always problematic, because they don't get to go through the same testing period on the training room before they're enabled on the live servers. So we end up having to do fixes for bugs we didn't catch, and a lot of fixes for bugs we did catch don't have time to get into the builds before they end up on live. We have tried to address the bugs with it as quickly as we possibly could, and if you guys can continue to give us specific feedback about remaining issues, it's a lot easier for us to address those things than it is to 'fix a bunch of stuff that's messed up'
Well, my issue was only with this booster pack specifically. I didn't have any problems with the other ones. Not that I don't like the run power, but I just felt like that art of this seemed really rushed and unfinished. It would seem like basic internal testing would show the problems with the shoulder pieces clipping and the hairstyle clipping if you change the head size.

    Childish response gets /ignore.
  11. Between the clipping issues (Warrior shoulder pads, female hairstyle on "youthful heads, etc.) the unfinished weapon animations for Ninja Run, etc. I really feel like I didn't get my money's worth.

I have no problem buying the bosters, and I felt the other ones were ok, but this just seems rushed out and poorly done.

Are refunds available on booster packs? Will NC cancel my account if I chargeback my purchase? (I have a card that will let me charge back nearly anything within a certain time frame)

    MM: Double Zero

    Thugs: Cardshark, Crossroader
    Pyro: Wildcard

    Enforcers: Diamond Jack, Jackpot

    Bruiser: Pit Boss
  13. For the mutant pack power I would like a combined "mini-fitness" power. +Run/Jump/Health and Stam regen (or +max health and Stam) something not as powerful as the actual pool, obviously, but enough to make it worth 10 bucks. +5 - 10% to all would be good, I'd think.
  14. MA was a great idea with poor implementation. A small handful still use it to try creating decent arcs, but from what I've seen the vast majority of the population just ignores anything but the farms, which they either love or hate.
  15. A reason to go somewhere other than the AE building.

World quests, open/public quests like certain other games are using now, PvP battlegrounds or at least finite mini-games with rewards. A way to advance a character with secondary skills or actual crafting (as in skills that you have to build up, not the enhancement system), vanity items to collect such as pets/vehicles/power effects that come from rare drops. Basically things that a lot of other MMOs have that give people something to do besides stand around under Atlas.

At the moment, the only thing there is to do in thios game for me is the same thing I've been doing for 5 years. Too many other games are coming out that offer a fresh play experience for anything other than widespread gameplay additions to keep me around.

I've enjoyed this game for a long time, but unfortunately I've done and seen everything. Even adding "new content" that's just the same as the old content won't keep me around at this point. For me to stay interested they need to add a lot of different gameplay elements.

I'm always happy to see power sets proliferated, so please don't take this post as a sour grapes post. With that said, is anyone a little disappointed that the most wanted sets weren't proliferated.

Here's what would've made me jump for joy:

Blasters -Dark Blast (though I admit, Rad Blast is a fine choice)

    Brutes - Regeneration

    Controller - Dark Miasma

Corruptor - Poison (though Trick Arrow was a fine choice too)

    Defender - Poison

    Dominator - Illusion

    MM - Kinetics

Scrapper - Super strength or energy melee or fire epic powers

Stalker - Shields or fire melee

Tanker - Spines or energy aura

    [/ QUOTE ]

    My 2 cents:

Blasters - Rad was my #1 choice, so yay!

Brutes - Again, Claws was my #1 choice.

Controller - Cold is a good choice IMO

Corruptor - Again, A/TA is very interesting

Defender - Poison would have been best. AR kind of feels strange for a defender.

Dominator - Would have liked to see either Katana or Martial arts mixed with various shuriken types (Toxic, Exploding, Etc) to make an assault set.

MM - Kinetics would have been my choice. Although flaming zombies seems amusing.

Scrapper - SS or Axe is what I wanted. Very disappointed in Electric Melee since it's such a garbage set. Also would like Ninjitsu.

Stalker - Would have liked Fire.

Tanker - Don't really care, since I'll never play one.

I can't wait to bring my Elec/Regen Scrapper into PvP. Might even strip my purped out the wazoo Fire/Regen to put him there.

Why? So you can get wtfpwned every time you turn around? The melee AT version of ElM is horrific for ST damage, just about the worst there is. No burst, no ST chain, no nothing. It's average in AoE, so if you really like the set you can make a passable farmer with it, but forget AVs and don't even think about trying to kill other players with it.

You're over exaggerating a bit. It's better than Spines, and people supposedly have fun with that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

In old pvp, spines was really fun. It never felt underpowered to me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Spines had some very specific advantages in PvP: Range, Toxic damage, immobilization, slows. Electric Melee does not have these advantages.

  19. The electric melee brutes and Stalkers get is pure, unmitigated garbage, one of the worst, most underperforming sets those ATs have, and I expect the same to hold true for scrappers.

We'd have been much better off getting either Axe or Mace in terms of performance. SS would be a dream come true.

    issue 16 info

Radiation blasters sound cool, as do traps defenders.

But for Scrappers and Tanks, if the electric melee is the same underperforming substandard crap version that Stalkers and Brutes have, then "meh"...if it's a bit closer to the blaster version then it'll be fine. Personally I was really hoping for SS, Axe or Mace for scrappers.

    Her powersets: Demon Summoning/Darkness

Not Dark Miasma. I'm thinking Darkness Assault, as in Pistols/Energy hinted towards Energy Assault, or whatever blasters had.

    New Domness, not MMness.

Other than the part where it specifically says she's an MM.
  22. Release Date:

    November 10.

Date that everyone that wants one has any new AT/Powerset combo at level 50 using AE farms:

    November 11.

Date bored level 50s start yelling about lack of content:

    November 12.

I suppose that's a bit extreme...more realistically, all three will happen on the 10th.

    Cap AE XP/Day

Yes, I'm sure flaming farmers are ready to do their thing, but IMO there needs to be a cap/day on XP generated through AE.

I'm not sure how much it will do at this point...the game has already been severely damaged by the mass of XP rolling in from the AE system, and may never recover. But closing the barn door after the horse is gone is better than not closing it at all, I guess.

    My Post Count...

Personally I think you should stop using the forum as your own personal blog, or at least keep it in one of the server forums or other more OT sections, because your ridiculous spam constantly pushes down posts that actually pertain to the game.
