  1. Really hoping someone has a good levelling build for a claws/FA brute.

Also, off topic......a few questions about IO's (sorry I am kinda new)

    1. What is the earliest level I can equip lvl 50 IO's? I know i won't get the set bonuses, just want to "buy as i go".

    2. would it be better to buy lvl 30 IO's?....what level do i need to be to equip those?
  2. anyone know where i can find a good build?
  3. also....how does kat/elec compare to claws/elec?

i know claws has better AoE....what does Kat do better than claws?
  4. ummmm whats a DA? <-----nvm.....duh! lol guess i read your post too fast

could you post a levelling build with budget slotting?

sorry, kinda new to CoH....highest level is 22
  5. wondering how hard it would be to build a kat/elec that has good survivability, and how to do it....

Also, is it going to drive me crazy levelling it?

so out of /elec /dark /fire, which has the most survivability, and why, please.

    Or of course, use AE.

For general play though? I would consider around 1 billion for the price of 3-4 sets of Kinetic Combats+Obliterations to add S/L defense to increase fires survivability. And of course, tough and weave.
so would /elec be cheaper? is the defense on it better than /fire?
  8. I am wondering just how much INF does it take to make a claws/fire build that is survivable and fun while levelling. I really like the set thematically, and would like to end up with something I can solo farm with, without dying every 5 minutes.

Would I be better off with /dark or/elec?

I really don't want /sd, /sr.....they dont really feel "super".
  9. I am just hoping to get opinions from veterans about which would be better to farm with.

My highest level is 22, so I need a farm toon for cash and eventually IO's.

I have the km/wp brute to lvl 10 and he is pretty kickass, but alot of work with the keyboard.

The elec/elec dom i was looking at is melee based, with conductive aura to keep him alive, as well as tough and weave towards the end.
  10. I am really interested in making a Fortunata, but just have a few questions....

    1. why do i not see anyone taking Medicine pool?.......is health really not a problem on this AT?

    2. Is Stamina enough to deal with End issues?.....and how much does the IO's with +recovery cost on average

    3. Is this AT any good at farming?.......killing AV's?

Sorry for the noob questions....I keep starting new characters....havent gotten one past level 26, because I keep getting bored with them or finding they have issues that dampen my playstyle/fun. I think the most fun I've had so far is my bots/dark mm.....just wanted to make a toon that was self sufficient and not reliant on pets/teams.
  11. curious to see what veterans think of his build....considering trying it.....only questions tho -

with no self heal why not take aid self?

how is the endurance issues with this build?

how does this build do when trying to farm?
  12. i am also interested in seeing a build for this
  13. I would just like to know what everyone thinks, because I cant decide.....

As far as I know, as a new player, is that Ninjas have more damage, more resists, but no heal......and Undead have less resists and a self heal (siphon life)

Anything else I should know before choosing? I am going to pair one with /Dark Miasma btw.
  14. also wondering if anyone can suggest a "Budget" slotting.....I don't have any high level toons for cash.
  15. Just wondering if anyone has any good ninja/dark builds out there, or at least some advice on how to slot mine. My toon is only lvl 24, so I could use advice from people who have more experience.
  16. I haven't been playing long, and my main is only a level 24 ninja/dark mm.

I hear alot of people talking about stuff, and have no idea what it all means....like for instance....

    1. What are the softcaps? Does it tell you in game when you are at softcap? Are they different for defense, offense, etc.?

    2. I have a macro'd button that tells my ninjas to attack a target....but alot of posts say to use a "goto" button instead. Why? Wouldn't it better to decide which mob the ninjas attack first, instead of putting them next to the enemy and letting the ninja's pick?

    3. As this is my main, I don't have alot of cash....so should I be buying 20, 25, 30 origin enhancements, or should I wait until a certain level?

    4. Any other advice would be welcome!
  17. So far I have mainly been tinkering with ranged AT's. I have tried Melee a few times, but it is such a hassle, i must be doing something wrong.

I keep reading posts where people say if you want a good solo/group toon to make a Scrapper, and alot of posts concering peoples' favorite toon to play, alot say /regen scrapper.

I am just wondering if anyone has any advice/tips/tricks of the trade/shortcuts for Melee based toons to make life easier and more enjoyable.

As far as what I have been doing....\

    1. I am not all that great with a keyboard....I belong to a well known group, called Clickers

    2. I either move the mouse around to look for each target, then use "w" to close the distance, and click my attacks...or...I hit "tab" (keymapped for nearest target), and "F" to close the distance to the nearest enemy, and click to attack..........with using "w", it takes me time to turn the mouse, target an enemy, and click, which hurts the team in my opinion........with using "F" my toon will chase the enemy when it runs to another group of foes, causing a possible group wipe.

So, like I said....if anyone has any good ideas on how I could improve, I would GREATLY appreciate it....I would really like to give Scrappers a try.
  18. only level 10, but thought it would at least catch my attention.....it only did like 1 or 2 points a tic!

hope it's not a rich man's combo........meaning i hope you dont have to have top notch IO's to make it worthwhile
  19. I read alot of posts about the Rain of Fire + Tar Patch combo.

I have tried it a few times, and am not impressed.

    Did they nerf it?
  20. found an offensive, non-conformist build someone posted for bots/thermal....just seeing what everyone thinks.....

  21. I'd like to add...when considering all of the secondaries, Pain still sticks out as the most promising to me.....able to heal/buff bots, and later an AoE debuff to enemies.......just wonder if it's enough in late game encounters......

Not sure why I can't seem to find ANY Bots/Pain builds!!!!....been Googling like a friggin madman!
  22. My one toon is a level 21 Demon Summoning/Dark MM. The problems I am having are.....

My demons are so squishy! I am constantly running around using Twilight Grasp trying desperately to keep them alive. Not fun. Also I feel like I am too much of a newb to use Dark correctly.

I see alot of toons with bots running around and am very impressed. I would love to make one tomorrow for Going Rogue.....but dont know what secondary to take. I have considered the following:

    1. Traps - sounds cool, but the healing beacon is soooo slow on the healing, and the build doesnt FEEL like a superhero.....no super powers, just scientific.

    2. Dark - i see the greatness, but am not experienced enough to get the full benefit, and would like to try something new.

    3. Pain - Looked great on paper, but some threads point out the lack of debuffs/damage mitigation.....might be PAINful....ok tried to be funny.

    4. Thermal - Also looks good, but not sure how to use it

    5. Storm - sounds cool as hell, but no AoE heals to keep bots alive

Any advice would be great, as well as builds so i can see big picture
  23. First let me say, I have been creating and deleting TONS of toons, still looking for one that feels right.

I am really drawn to the Storm Summoning set for Corruptors, but have a few questions.

What would be the best primary for:

    1. solo mainly but also group support
    2. not so endurance heavy that even after Stamina I am out of energy every minute
    3. general fun factor

NOTE - I am a newb to CoH/CoV, my highest toon is 21. But I am a veteran to MMORPG's going back to Ultima Online.

Also, any build posts would be extremely helpful
  24. I am kinda new to CoH, and want to make a Warshade, but posts I have read say that some of the random encounters can kill you in one shot at 50. Is this true??? Has there been a patch to help with this?? I mean, whats the point of working to 50 to make a "powerful" toon, if you can still be one shotted??
  25. I am wondering if anyone has any builds/ideas concerning a whip based Demon Summoning/Dark Miasma Mastermind.

I really enjoy the whip attacks, and am wondering if a build centered around them, with the pets as "help" is viable.
