I'll be flying to Phoenix, Arizona for a job interview. No double XP for me.
Getting the job or no, I plan to make it a fun weekend with my wife, so no sadness here. -
I'd request Vogon poetry sung to accordion music, preferably polka.

Happy Birthday Jack!
(And I'm not really late - I was EARLY on Facebook and our SG forums; I just didn't see this thread until today!) -
Bye-bye green regen! My speedster will now have a unified color scheme to match SS and hasten.

The hero version was beyond easy if you take the time to get every single ally.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's where I get stuck. I'll save 3-5 of them, then it starts getting messy. One will aggro one spawn while I'm trying to get close enough to a different spawn to use my debuffs, and it all AmTraks after that.
[/ QUOTE ]
Synapse is the worst aggro-er, so save him for later. Citadel is your most powerful ally, so get him early. (Note his hit points compared to the others).
If the named villains are too close together not to aggro both at once, consider rebooting the mission for better spacing. -

I've pulled off the TF with a tank easy enough. I mostly just had the Phalanx do all the work.
I haven't pulled off the Silos SF, though. For some reason it seems even more difficult to manage my teammates when they're Arachnos.
[/ QUOTE ]
The TF is soloable, and challenging every time. It's my favorite thing to do in the game right now.
SF tip: forget your "helpers" and wait for the heroes under the shadow of the Jade Spider - it is much more helpful as an ally than Ghost Widow or Black Scorpion. -

Coca-Cola. I love it and will never switch.
But I love to experiment with other "cola" flavored colas. I love Red Rock Cola, distributed from Atlanta. I'm drinking a Pepsi Throwback right now. Jones makes a regular cola that is okay. I even drink an occasional RC. But Coke is my one true love - I wonder why I even stray. -

Even with SOs, more than two end reductions in a toggle defense is definitely a waste
[/ QUOTE ]
Fixed for accuracy, as per personal experience.
[/ QUOTE ]
In the 20s, you can't afford the slots to 2 slot toggles for end, you're better putting the slots in your attacks, and by the time you can afford the slots in the 30s, you can slot sets which will largely remove your end issues.
[/ QUOTE ]
That depends on the attack and how often you use it, actually. Slotting something with a small end cost is a form of dimished return in its own way. Powers with large end costs are used less often, so that is a form of diminished return as well. Putting 2 end slots in toggles, however, saves you end all the time, including between fights. So unless you have NO down time or religiously turn off your toggles between fights, it comes out pretty close whenever I've run the numbers.
Run herostats and do your normal playstyle for a solid hour. Once you have some solid data for how often you use specific attacks, a simple spreadsheet can tell you if you save more end by slotting attacks or double slotting your toggles.
But to answer the OP, my MA/SR was pretty squishy until SO's. He noticably lagged behing my DM/SR, which has to-hit debuff/defense synergy and benefits from DM's lower end costs. In fact, I eventually gave up on the MA/SR once I realized how much better my DM/SR was performing (and it also had a better theme, name, etc.). I may revive it for old time's sake next month. -

Top 20
It would seem that not everyone agrees he is the plague to end all plagues.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm one of those people. He started City of Heroes, and I think that he was right about most of the vision he had for it. I think that people who hate him for whatever reason are either being completely unreasonable or having very selective memories of what he was really like.
When he was in charge, people here treated him pretty much like they treat Matt Miller now. He had a lot of followers, and he had a few vocal detractors screaming for his head on a platter. Of course, it makes zero difference who's in charge or what they do, there will always be such detractors. If you're in charge of a game like City of Heroes, you pretty much have to have a thick skin, do what you're going to do, and hope everything comes out okay in the end. In that respect, Jack and Matt are very similar, and as a result of both, the game is still going strong and getting better every with release.
The only huge difference is that Jack left. It's awful easy to bash someone when they're gone. Even worse, now he's the competition. There are a bunch of people here who assume that MMORPGs are a zero-sum game, that in order for CO to have subscribers, they must come from CoH. (Completely neglecting that CO will have plenty of subscribers that play both games, and probably some new subscribers who don't even know that CoH exists.)
I never agreed 100% with Jack's decisions, just as I don't agree 100% with Matt's. But he was hardly the destroyer of the game that people make him out to be. And like it or not, he was a key player in this game becoming what it is today, both bad and good.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed 100%. He certainly deserves to be in the top 20. Where on the list is debatable. -

A few counter-points:
[ QUOTE ]
CoV was in closed beta for several months. With GR only having an open beta phase (as far as I'm aware), bugs may get squashed a lot quicker, leading to a faster release.
[/ QUOTE ]
Open Betas tend to make catching bugs actually harder, as many people submit many ambiguous reports about the same thing. The reason they've been doing Closed Betas for some time is that a smaller, more focused group of testers working towards specific test objectives tend to be a lot more productive. What's more, during the time CoV was in Closed Beta (that I saw) it wasn't really about catching bugs. The game was literally unfinished, with significant, sweeping changes being made in real time. We were asked, for instance, to please delete our Ice/Ice Brutes because the powersets were being removed from the game.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm glad you qualified this statement with a "tend to." It is hard to argue that the closed beta process in place for the past several issues is any better than the open process we used to have.
If it were better, you would expect to be able to show that quantitatively, by pointing at either (1) shorter issues cycles due to better efficiency or (2) better issues releases in the form of fewer bugs due to better efficiency.
However, neither of these two things can be shown. The rate of new issues is roughly the same, and the past few releases have been as buggy as any before the closed beta process started.
IMO, with all the social networking tech this game has, the devs could still maintain a focused core group of dedicated testers via a private forum and private chat channels, yet allow the beta to be basically "open" to all comers for the sake of really ferreting out obscure bugs and methods to abuse/break the system.
Would it work in an incomplete alpha stage? Probably not. But it would certainly work for testing things in the state they have been historically placed on the public training room, be it for closed (I9 to present) or open (pre-I9) beta.
I really hope they dump their current closed beta model. If you can't point to a numerical advantage, it isn't worth the closed beta angst, the disruption of the PvP events, the disruption of personal use of the Test Server, and the perceived advantages (such as advatages on the Market) given to the current closed beta testers.
Edited to add: You might also expect to see shorter beta cycles (shorter time the issue is in beta before going live) - but you don't see that, either. -
Praetorian Ulli is pretty much the same, except he eats tacos. Crazy.
Personally, if Praetoria is a utopia, I'm looking for the Can Man to make an appearance as the CEO of a major international soft drink conglomerate. *blink* Off to the Mission Architect! -

I said it before and I'll say it again - I just don't understand why someone would deprive themselves of the enjoyment they get from playing an awesome game just because they can't get one dinky little item that would most likely not enhance their gaming experience in the least anyway.
[/ QUOTE ]
And I fail to understand why you need to understand. Isn't it enough that it upsets people and that the fix is really, really simple? Why wouldn't you wish this item on everyone!
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't "need" to know, I'm just curious why someone would have such an extreme reaction to something that is, IMO, so minor, and innocent. This isn't like threatening to boycott the NFL if they announce that all games will be available only on a PPV basis, or boycotting Texaco after they announce that they will immediately begin pumping all petroleum refining byproducts directly into the Gulf of Mexico.
Anyway, I'm now going to bow out of further discussion on the topic. IMO this thread has gone so far out of whack over what I consider (and would consider, even if I wasn't going) a cool little gesture from the management of NCSoft. Anything else I say about it would only add more fuel to fire.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's fine, and I completely respect that decision. But I really, really wish you had answered my question first, because it applies to all of the vitriolic responses in support of this marketing decision. Why do you care so much that there should be an exclusive SDCC item?? -

Hey Gang,
We aren't doing the in game exclusive item to upset anyone that cannot make the event. We are part of the show and this is part of our giveaway to our supporters that will be at the show.
Someone mentioned the in game wedding, and that by and large was also an exclusive event because not every player got the chance to attend. We will never be able to keep everyone happy, but we do like to take the opportunities that are presented to us to do what we can when we can.
If you have concerns you would like to discuss you can always contact me via email at exlibris@ncsoft.com or here on the boards via PM.
Regards,
Ex Libris

In the end, does it really matter what you intend? Please spend your limited development (art for item, coding of distribution of said item) and advertising dollars in more productive and less devisive ways. -
Great...more exclusive content for selected individuals.
Way to go.
*Clap*
If you're going to advertise that way, why the hell advertise it to the existing player base, most of whom cannot attend? If an exclusive item should go to anyone, it should be to non-current customers.
Consider making the code for new accounts only. I sure as hell do not want to see an elite few flashing their exclusive bling unless it was for a good purpose - like adding to the player base.
If not, then remember this the next time you give out a costume token vet reward. Loyal customers deserve the bling, not a few convention-goers. Just going to Comic Con is reward enough! -

Thanks for the info, and the compliment.
I may revisit my guide after I12 to address IO's and the upcoming acrobatics change - I plan to try a few respecs on Test to rework a few things. -
Happy birthday!
Nice guide. I'm level 32 and will take some of your advice as I progress.
I did take two pistol powers as my theme is a cowboy ("Rattlesnake Jake," keeping with the poison theme). I don't regret it - the knockdown for dual pistols is consistent and an additional mitigator.
I also plan to take Mako as my patron, to get bile spray and keep a poison theme.
Can anyone comment on the end drain when running the leadership pool powers with this AT?
