Quote:They could use similar 'blurring' effects as used for Dual Pistols.I want a Super Speed melee set. There really isn't any attack set in the game that convincingly looks like a speedster.
It would probably be a very expensive set, resource-wise, because for it to be good each power would have to have 4-5 attack animations in it (as opposed to the less impressive "repeat the same animation 4 times" method in Flurry). So, I don't expect it, but I sure want it.
I'm all for it, but to do it justice you really need the animations, and people don't like long rooting animations, so it's a hard sell.
-It'd need a 'run around the planet and smack your target with a ton of inertia' ala Flash from JLU. You just have the character wind up and take off in a puff of smoke/blur and then a second lader fades back into view coming from the other direction and the target is knocked back and damaged. Just like Hail of Bullets, your character never actually moves, it's just a visibility trick.
-You'd need a 'lash out at all the targets around you in a burst of speed' attack for a PBAoE.
-Rapid-fire fists, like Flurry but actually good looking.
-A kind of 'Divine Avalanche' type attack that increases your Defense.
-Maybe a slow debuff for 'stealing' speed. Kin Melee didn't really have this.
-Of course, a teleport attack power like Lightning Rod.

Quote:Some I'd like to see, that are quite do-able with the engine:Other than this, I am not sure what is left that isn't represented in the game already. Perhaps a water set, and a few forms of MM pets.
-Power Armor Blast. With beam weapons, drunk missiles, pop up chaingun, etc.
-Morphing limbs. For lack of a better term. A melee attack set. Think Prototype, Carnage, Sandman, Plastic Man. Doable, but a lot of work modeling-wise, and a little work animation-wise.
-Totemic animal powers. A defensive power set with a number of mutually exclusive toggles that bestow aspects of a spirit animal on you. Think BraveStarr, Vixen from DC.
Besides that, I'd like to see more 'conceptual proliferation' completed. Dark Control, Psi Melee. Plant Armour. Earth Blast. Martial Arts themed secondary sets for Blasters and Doms, Hand-held weapons as well.
Also like to see this conceptual proliferation extended to the Ancillary Pools. No reason, for example, a Scrapper, Brute or Tanker shouldn't be able to have some Psi-themed abilities in their Epic pool.
. -
Quote:As long as there is a Medieval weapon or Eastern martial art not covered by the game, there's a good chance there's at least one power set is some stage of development.Power proliferation aside, will we ever see any new non-Incarnate power sets or were electric control and kinetic melee the last new sets we will ever get?
New power sets based on actual super powers, especially mainstream ones, yeah we've seen the end of them.

Quote:No. You may have heard that the Achilles proc is not affected by the purple patch. That may be the case, since it does work as a grant power like Bruising (which also ignores the purple patch), but I don't know for sure either way.Though, maybe I can't say too much since he does also have achilles heel procs, which if I understand right, are technically irresistable in their debuff because it works on a grant-power. Right?)
But that is not the same as being an unresisted Resistance debuff, which I'm pretty sure it is not.
. -
Quote:Paragonwiki.com says it's -15%.-40% (it is -10% per application, not -15%) and it is fully resistible. It is pretty worthless against very hard targets for the -regen since they resist it very heavily.
Regardless:
All of the Interface effects, with the possible exception of the -ToHit in Diamagnetic, are extremely underpowered compared to the DoT in Reactive.
And the devs wonder why people treat Reactive as being the 'only' Interface slot.
Gravitic, Paralytic and the -Regen and -Resistance aspects of Diamagnetic and Reactive should really be brought up to allow them to compete.
For that matter, the Interface slot itself and how it stacks for one player and how it stacks in a team/league could stand to be revisited as well.

Sorry, but that is a real Berserk Button for me. Like the people who still defend Captain Stupid even though the world didn't end last week, just like it didn't end in 1994. Or the people in Mumbai who drank sewage and encouraged their friends and relatives to.
Those who prey on the hopeful and also the people who refuse to learn after the fakes have been exposed and debunked.
In short: liars and the people who enable them.

Quote:It only sounds like that because you want it to; like looking for pictures in clouds. This sounds like Incarnate armor to me.... but that's just me.
It also sounds like Resistance armor pieces. It even sounds like robot turtles invading during an eclipse.
It sounds like a lot of things because it's bogus.
THIS. FAKE. WAS. DEBUNKED. AND. GENERICED. BY. THE. MODS.
. -
Quote:This was already confirmed with several people by the community team in PMs as being a fake. Mods were alerted, the Global name was generic'ed. "Jay" has never returned. Case closed.Hmm I was under the impression that it was legit, due to the fact that it quite accurately predicted the animal pack by a several weeks. It also reads like his posts did when he wrote much freely on the boards...
As to this:
Anyone could have "predicted" an animal pack because of all the heat that came out of the Mutant booster. In fact, after the gigantic outpouring of player desire for more animal parts in the Mutant booster feedback threads, an animal themed pack was all but assured. The devs said as much long before this fake Jay.
And in fact, you only interpret the hint as being about an animal booster booster because an animal boosted just happened to get released. Anything that happened after the deliberately vague prediction that even remotely fit with it would have been held up as "proof" of the prediction's validity. Had an animal themed enemy group or story arc involving Council WarWolves been added at any time after, THAT would be what the 'hint' was 'predicting' all along.
. -
Quote:You are of course welcome to your own opinion, but take a look at your very own signature quoting Jay. The devs have never treated the game as srs bsns. For what it's worth, they indicated that the actual NPC wasn't set in stone; it might very well change. I have to say, though, that I agree. I don't mind humor in the game, but this just seems over the top silly to me. Mind you, if it goes through, I won't be seething mad or anything, not even miffed. It's mildly amusing, but I just think that the joke will wear off quickly and we'll be left with an immersion-shattering non sequitur, and new players without the background will be like, "What the--!!?"
I won't be posting complaints or petitioning to get him removed or anything. I'd just rather them use a more plausible contact.
Even Marvel and DC roll out Howard the Duck and Plastic Man in their mainstream titles.
As to your main argument, 'new players' are unlikely to even get to Ouroboros (which I'm pretty sure is where they said the contact would be) and being new, I'd think that makes them even less likely to question anything they see, especially given the context of it being on a flying trans-dimensional time ship operated by steampunks. Once they see the giant, blue, bearded guy in the toga, all bets are off.

From Ashley McKnight's Midnight's Hand arc:
Quote:As you defeat the last of the two enemies, this object drops from one of their hands. It looks like a mask, sculpted from gold. As you hold it up to your face and look through the eyes, you see the cavern you are in transform into a massive underground city. Ancient columns push up into the darkness and as you breathe in you smell the sea air. You look to a nearby rock and see a raven looking back at you. All around you are statues of heroes, caught in the midst of battle. Quote:You stole the mask and when you looked through it you saw the cave around you transform into something ancient. The room was filled with heroes who had been turned to stone and a single raven looked down upon you squawking in laughter.
I think these should be changed to a seagull now.

Quote:No, I do plenty of things just for fun that don't really "net a profit" or make the absolute best use of my in-game time.i get the impression from this thread you don't do anything in game because you think the activity is fun or challenging in itself, it's all to gain more shinies.
Street sweeping tons of Rikti in the RWZ. Writing AE arcs no one will ever play because they get buried under farming dreck. Soloing AVs just because. Running TFs I already have the badge for. Helping sewer teams by being a pocket taunt bot.
But those things aren't wasting an hour in Keyes Island with 23 'teammates' who can't follow direction, wont read a guide beforehand to understand the general procedure and getting bitchslapped every 30 seconds by a sadistic designer's Antimatter Pulse take on 'rocks fall, everyone dies' while trying to jump through their hoops for the most tenuous of conceptual justifications just to earn in-game currency at a slightly faster rate that will likely be made obsolete when they introduce whatever new currency or merit that will be used for the next bunch of Slots and not even getting a new power or ability to play with out of the deal.
But ask me how I really feel.

Quote:Four days, four T4s. Up 1.2 billion inf, down a modest amount of (now near useless) Shards.Wait, what?
To unlock all four slots doing only one of the two currently live trials you'd have to get all the iXP for two of the slots by spending inf and threads. That's... not terribly efficient. OTOH it is very J_B.
Efficient enough to me.
Probably could have got them in half the time if I was really trying. It's easy, especially if you know how to play and don't waste time on floundering trial teams or FaiLambda.
So the next round of Incarnate slots is going to be when...?
Because until then, provided obtaining the next 4 or 5 slots are somehow tied to Keyes Island, I have no reason to touch Keyes Island.

Quote:Well I can only speak for myself, but I never found it hard unlocking both sides of the tree while only doing one of the trials. Once the armor costume parts are unlocked, I don't see myself having a real need to earn Incarnate merits faster than I am now(perhaps the devs could give me one).Extra Emp merit a day, several extra ast merits a day, new badges, unlocks both sides of the Incarnate tree at the same time, fun.
Variety is nice, but resources and time for this game's development is finite and at a premium. This trial sounds like a retread of concepts from the existing trials: Eg. They took the annoying temp gathering from Lambda and the annoying prisoner chase from BAF and threw some annoying sword bombs in for good measure. Been there, done that. That and like I said, it just unlocks stuff I and many others already have unlocked.
As it looks now, I just don't think this trials was needed.

http://www.cityofheroes.com/news/gam...and_guide.html
Looking at the guide, it sounds considerably more complex and difficult than the existing trials, but as of now it only gives experience towards Incarnate slots the other trials already do. Unlocking and slotting Incarnate abilities is what drove people to BAF. When it comes down to grinding for their stuff, people will take the path of least resistance, and right now most people think that's the BAF.
So what is the motivation to run KI more than once, if at all? It would have to award many more Astral and E-merits than the existing trials, given what it sounds like on paper. And more to the point, did we really need a third, harder option for ground that was already covered?

Quote:I agree. When Praetoria spit me out into Sharkhead, I had plenty of content to take me from 20-30.Personally, I disagree with the sentiment expressed in the OP. I believe that the primary reason for the stall-out in the 30-40s is the dearth of content added in those ranges.
Right now, we have a logjam of contacts all hitting you in the 20s, many of whom will be outleveled by 30: Issue 17 arcs, Issue 19 arcs, Mercedes Sheldon (for heroes), Cape, Icon, Striga, Croatoa (first half), Faultline (second half), Ouroboros intros, the specific tips for 20-30. You also get access to a number of Task Forces like Moonfire, Hess, Sutter, Kal, respecs trials, Psyche and Citadel. This all makes the 20 go by VERY fast. I have characters that spend a week in the 20s then stall out.
Spread some of that content out. Stop making every new solo arc take place in the 20s. Expand the maximum level range for Psyche, Citadel, Moonfire, Hess, Mercedes', the Issue 17 and 19 arcs, Croatoa and Striga to 40-50.
At 30, I'm in Nerva and stuck doing the original CoV content until I hit 35 can can get into the RWZ. This is where it feels like it's dragging. Also, I know from past experience that 40-50 can be another lull depending on how much you progress from the RWZ. And once you hit 50, most of the recent content has been team focused.
So, I wouldn't mind seeing some more solo friendly content in the 25-35, 35-45 and 45-50 ranges to fill the overlaps.
I do hope the new zone covers 30-50, because I don't think we need more 20's content for a while.

Quote:Rebirth Destiny powers now properly ignore buffs apart from those conferred by the Alpha Slot.
Ageless and Barrier Destiny powers now properly accept increases to Damage Resistance, Defense Buff, and Recovery as conferred by the Alpha Slot.
This is a reversal from what BS said the intent was previously.

Quote:Yet power sets usually have more to do with performance than ATs. You talk of 'debuffers' but what you really mean 'Cold Domination' and 'Kinetics'. You're so hot to get a Defender, but not if they're TA/Elec.But, if you are really into speeding like I am, picking AT's is quite gratifying.

Quote:We don't really know it can't.The problem with your logic, Johnny, is that the Well doesn't or can't take away the power it's granted. Neither Recluse nor Statesman want anything to do with the well, but they're still some of the most powerful characters in the game. Even if Tyrant somehow fell out of favor with the Well, he's still gotten a huge amount of power from it.
Recluse and Statesman don't want to have anything to do with the Well, but it can take control of them at any time. At best they've ignored it, at worst, tried to circumvent it. It's simply uninterested in those that don't want to play its game further. They 'earned' the power they already have, perhaps the Well sees no reason to take it away? Just because you don't want to go back on Jeopardy and win more doesn't mean they take your past winnings away.
But the Well has put Tyrant at a power level beyond that of any we have yet to encounter. Being its champion is clearly something special to it, and it may be more likely to hold him to higher 'standards'. Tyrant is 'playing for the house' now. There's nothing to say either way that it will or wont take away the extra power it has given when some other champion material catches its eye.
