Quote:What if Joss Whedon were to authorize an MMORPG version of "FIREFLY"? I wonder if there'd be a nice, stable niche market for that..... ;-)FIREFLY: THE ANIMATED SERIES
While it may only be a rumor, the prospect of a "Firefly" animated series is certainly exciting and it's sure to continue to make the rounds in the next few weeks. At New York Comic Con 2012 during the "Firefly" reunion panel, The AV Club quotes star Nathan Fillion as teasing the possibility of an animated version of the beloved science fiction series.
Further, The New York Post reports actor Sean Maher (Simon Tam) is actually aware of a project in the works.
"I know somebody who is actually trying to get that done, who has approached Joss [Whedon, the creator] about it," Maher told the New York Post. "He used to work with Guillermo del Toro."
Obviously, "Firefly" fans have been burned before -- and Whedon looks to be concentrating on his Marvel Cinematic Universe work at the moment -- but the possibility exists, and maybe that's enough for now.

Yeah, i'm leaning towards playing Beta in November. I want to play new Skulls arcs etc, but I also want to team with friends/sgmates and play my current toons. So much game, so little time...

Quote:Thanks!! "Gangnam Style - Paragon Style" was hilarious!! Maaaaybe, if you aren't too busy, we'll get to see your version of "Call Me Maybe". Thank you for the 8 years of Super!! I'm really hopin' there's more Super in the future - and barring that, exciting new projects from da Super Devs! The original idea was a cover of "Call Me Maybe." I had the choreography all planned out in my mind, but this seemed more trendy.
Some of us are talking about a final party in Pocket D, November 30th. I for one plan to go out dancing - the only question is, on what toon?
(Also hoping to run each of the TFs/SFs one final time; e.g. last call for Dr Q, PST! as well as each of the incarnate trials. I think that can be done easily enough on Justice still.)
As for the soon-to-be former publisher of City of Heroes, my feelings on November 30th towards NCSoft are probably best summarized by this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_50-gOeBilc 1982 Scandal/Patty Smyth "Goodbye To You" -
Quote:"Lightning in a bottle" is a good way to describe the positive feeling I get playing CoH. LOL, yeah, other than a few hours on EQ1 and watching friends play and explain UO and WoW, etc, no MMORPG appealed to me strongly prior to CoH. Once I had made my first character (spending over an hour of course playing with the costume creator and amazed at the variety of looks and combinations), gotten thru the extant tutorial (issue 15) and was out on the streets of Galaxy City, I was hooked!! Woot! This was fun!! And I had my own original superhero whose unique look nonetheless was similar to the comicbooks I'd grown up reading as a kid!To a certain extent, City of Heroes was a lucky accident, lightning in a bottle that even Paragon Studios might not be able to duplicate.
It's very casual friendly and it attracted people who had never played MMOs. (I had never touched one before COH and the idea of paying a monthly fee for a game over and over seemed silly to me, but the prospect of being a super hero lured me in.) The community-- for the most part-- FEELS a bit older and more mature. The lack of in game loot (gear that could significantly raise your performance) and forced PVP made COH pretty friendly for the novice.
I don't really think Cryptic expected the game to become what it did, and it may never come again no matter how hard anyone works to duplicate the experience.
Our ex Devs have a TREMENDOUS amount of good will and support from us right now. If I were a studio with openings, I would certainly hire as many of them as possible-- both because of their individual talents and what community support they might bring with them.
Could Melissa, Matt, and Brian et al form a new studio and make awesome new games? I have no doubt of that. Could they replicate the success of COH?
THAT I'm not so sure of.
Should the development team that comprised Paragon Studios happen to form a new studio, I for one would certainly check it out! In fact, unless the IP changes hands such that the dev team can continue to bring us new Issues of City of Heroes, I hope they do just that and wish them every success in "striking gold" again. Thanks again, Dev Team and Community.

Quote:Thanks for posting this. It does me good to hear the Dev Team and I hope they continue to talk with us even after "sunset". At minimum, I'd be interested in their current MMORPG projects, if any, and otherwise remain a FAN of City of Heroes!! Thank you, Paragon Studios development team!!Go to http://www.twitch.tv/paragonstudios/videos. That'll get you a list of all of the videos - I'm watching the latest now, so it apparently works. Don't be alarmed that it basically starts mid-sentence.

Dear Tim "Black Scorpion" Sweeney,
THANK YOU for your many contributions to City of Heroes!! It wasn't the first MMORPG gamer friends showed me but it was the first I played for more than a few hours and the only one I've stuck with. While other MMORPGs had various things going for them, none entertained me nearly as well.
Since we are sharing memories, as an older gamer (50s) I was favorably impressed at how well this MMO could emulate the experience one has in live action role-playing and tabletop (pen and dice) gaming. I still love all the nifty emotes built into CoH and the versatility of the character/costumes creator. It was clear that a lot of thought had gone into game balance, and overall I think you were highly successful in this and many other areas.
Yeah the bugs and glitches could be annoying, but occasionally also funny. One of my characters had a rescue mission and was leading the NPC out but when we got to the final ramp (sorry I've no idea now which mission this was) the NPC would turn around and walk away, then would follow again only to repeat. I was fortunate in that my petition found a game staff GM able to assist me fairly quickly. The GM asked me to invite him to team and appeared as a camera (like when watching a match in the Arena). I showed him what was happening and he said, ok, try leading her (the NPC) out again. I said, "Alright but she won't follow me" and the GM said, "That's okay; she knows me." That and a million other little memories still make me smile.
I started under Issue 15 and was entirely happy with CoH and with each Issue the development team took this really great game and made it even greater!! You all did a fantastic job!!
THANK YOU!!!

Quote:Dear Van_Raye, I appreciate you feel this way (strongly) and that these are your opinions. I hope you can appreciate that I have a somewhat different view. Those are valid points.
You can argue that you think the playerbase was low, that everyone left when they changed PvP, that the profits just weren't high enough or that you don't think that NCSoft's other games had anything to do with the closing of CoH but the truth is that City of Heroes is the premier superhero game in all the world and it was doing just fine; this with practically zero advertising support from NCSoft.
Saddly, conjecture is something we have been forced to do because NCSoft has outright refused to release sufficient information on this decision. Morever, the manner in which NCSoft has conducted itself is entirely reprehensible. If it was about cutting costs, there were other logical avenues besides closing Pagagon Studios and CoH. If it's about them wanting to pull out of the North American market and concentrate on Asia, then why not sell the CoH IP and game? You can't say that it's to not have to compete with their own game if by all indications they don't care about our market. By what few communications they have had with us, they have blatantly stated "We don't care about you or your concerns or what you want; we'll still take your money though. We're closing, leave."
That seems to be satisfactory to some but it certainly isn't for me. While some of you may have trouble understanding the fervor displayed by some people in wanting to save the game, I have even less understanding for those of you showing compliance or apathy about the destruction of something you have enjoyed and less understanding still for those showing antagonism towards those still wanting to keep a perfectly good game running or at least wanting to fight this.
All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good people to say "Hey, it's a business."
There is nothing right about this or the manner in which NCSoft has operated and whether it is capable or not, they should be held accountable.
First, I concur with your position that I'd like to see City of Heroes continue, perhaps ideally as most of us expected: the release of Issue 24, new content, game features, the works!
Second, I feel pain and loss over the prospect of CoH going away permanently and in the near future. Hell, I even found myself tearing up again over this and it's been days since last i shed tears over this and I'm 50-something and feeling silly (in addition to hurt and angered) about feeling this way about a MMORPG. I think a lot of us feel this way.
Third, the loss is real: we each invested time (years), creativity and money. We invested in a hobby where the products vanish when unsupported, unlike say model railroading where at least one gets to keep one's purchases even should the manufacturer go out of business.
Naturally, none of us likes this one bit.
Yes, the CoH Community has been forced to speculate and conjecture because we lack information and means of securing it. I too have found NCSoft's statements about its decision to stop publishing City of Heroes irking because said statements did NOT satifsy my desire/need to know WHY something I love is going away. Note: this is a classic Grief reaction when something or someone we love suddenly dies.
As my temper has cooled (anger being a typical reaction to hurt) and as I've now logged more hours reading these and Titan Network's forums than I have playing CoH since 8/31/12, I now have a somewhat different view from what I felt and thought even a few days ago.
One post in particular--I think on Titan & you may flame me for not being a good researcher and looking it up--explained why even taking the time to sell the Intellectual Property (IP) as well as inherent costs in legal fees etc. could very easily not be worth it to NCSoft as compared to money to be made in pursuit of their other business ventures. E.g. using made up unrealistic numbers, if NCSoft can make $100 profit selling the IP but the cost to doing this is missing an opportunity to make $5000 profit then NCSoft would be making a poor business decision doing what it would take to sell the IP, regardless of any other factors. Now, did the person who wrote about IP sales and lost business opportunity know what he or she was talking about? I don't know. I don't have expertise in this and further, even that explanation is conjecture, but one I find plausible. It goes a long way toward explaining "We have exhausted all avenues" i.e. we looked at what selling the IP would entail, compared it to lost opportunity, and sorry, we're still gonna ax CoH.
To my mind (and I'll admit this is purely my opinion) I "buy" that explanation. It's logical and makes sense from a business perspective. If one takes exception to the corporate model; i.e. what's good for corporations being bad for us/the public, that's a different issue altogether.
But with this in mind, it casts NCSoft's communication to us in wholly different light, one far less sinister and Machiavellian than I've seen floated on these forums. NCSoft would optimally retain us as customers, but can't bring itself to do so in a manner that hurts its bottom line. Doing so would be a breach of fiduciary trust to its stockholders.
Yes, people are still hurt and angry and to varying extents still bewildered. Grief and Shock take time to recover from and we each recover variously and at different rates.
On to the parts of your recent post I disagree with. I don't perceive myself as being either "compliant" or "apathetic" with respect to my involvement with Community efforts to Save CoH. While I don't feel terribly hopeful about we fans saving the game, I'm still doing what I personally feel is reasonable and look every day to see if anyone on Titan Network or here has an idea I can support.
Please do not blast or flame those with whom you disagree (nor do I wish to see others blasting or flaming you.) We're fans who LOVE CoH so naturally we think it's the best MMORPG. All of us in the Community feel a world of hurt over our impending loss. (I may get flamed for this too but) This is exactly the "high note" NCSoft is urging us to adopt, the high road if you will. They know we're hurting. Quite possibly NCSoft upper management does have a special place in its corporate heart(s), at minimum from the years when it thought CoH could really take off in Asia and grow perhaps exponentially in its current markets. Kind of irrelevant, but I for one don't feel like calling them liars when I have no idea what they feel, never met or worked with them, nor had any communication other than the few statements they've made. Nor have I any special insight into their Revenue/Profit projections past or present, nor means or skills to evaluate how realistic these are. I also don't know squat about MMO Publishing as a business.
"The triumph of evil." *blink* Okay, I hear you loud and clear: NCSoft's decision to cut CoH hurts and that compounded by lack of info and perhaps the sudden unexpectedness of it feels evil. Granted. You invoke Winston Churchhill. One of my heroes as well. Again, if you want to take exception to the corporate model (making money for investors) and doing a less than stellar job at delivering a service to the public, I won't argue that. In fact, I might agree.
So getting back to the topic at hand, a discussion of the next move by the CoH Community, I'd love to see more creative constructive ideas floated. I'd really like to see us NOT grinding axes, or taking our frustration, disappointment, sadness and anger out on one another. Surely that's counterproductive in the longrun, even if a good rant can vent negative feelings--but not at another person's expense, please.
Additionally, Van_Raye I don't see (again my opinion) that you've flamed people particularly but are grappling with the closure of CoH in your own way as we all are. Additionally, I'd like to see those replying to your posts (and pretty much all fan postings) showing consideration and empathy to everyone in the community.
Sorry I went on for god knows how many pages. Until tomorrow when next I peruse these forums again, Best Wishes, Regards and Hope,
John
PS Apologies in advance for any typos, omitted words (ugh!) and that my attempt at indented paragraphs didn't work but I'm out of time. -
First off, I'd like to say I agree with close to 100% of what's been said on this thread thus far and second, I really appreciate HOW everyone expressed themselves--passionate, even compassionate and not flaming.
There are some excellent posts here and at Titan Network from people who write in a way that that causes me to think they have a good grasp not only of business/finance generally but of the costs including legal in selling IP. The short version of what I got from reading those a few days ago is that the cost in money and time to NCSoft in selling the IP causes the profit from such a sale to be far outweighed by the profit they hope to earn doing other things; hence simply shutting CoH down rather than selling the Intellectual Property (IP) or in any other way working out an arrangement for CoH to continue is better for NCSoft from a business perspective. Note: even these thoughtful business analyses are speculation as no one but NCSoft upper management knows what factor(s) exactly account for NCSoft's decision. It's even speculated that losing all NA and EU CoH customers permanently might have been factored into NCSoft's decision to shutdown CoH and that it still made good business sense to do so.
(Note: I'm not defending NCSoft, nor like its decision to stop publishing CoH, but attempting to distill what I've read over the past few days as I too grapple both to make sense of this and my own feelings of loss.)
Where to go from here? 1. enjoy the game as much as you can for as long as you can. I've read the servers are scheduled to shutdown at midnight pacific time Nov 30th aka 3 a.m. Dec 1 if EST U.S. 2. Additional Community Action(s) have been proposed here and cross-listed to Titan Network (the most recent being the Marathon Gaming for Charity event scheduled for Oct 20-21. Check over at Titan in case I'm mistaken.) 3. Continue reasonable and legal fan action. It took a long time before we fans of the original Star Trek series got a Star Trek movie much less new series, but eventually we got them. (And also had a lot of fun at Trek conventions with other Trek fans along the way.) 4. Take screenshots and demorecord anything you'd enjoy as memorabilia of CoH prior to shutdown (there's an excellent thread on how to demorecord your sgbase; and yes for many Black Pebble has become our new favorite hero!) 5. Consider using Titan Network's extractor program. I haven't yet but I understand it will permit us to least view any characters/toons we backup this way so we at least can see them again, similar to the costume/character creator. Also this has the potential to restore our characters in the event, unlikely or not, that City of Heroes is resurrected at some future date after server shutdown. (I plan to use the extractor on my ten most favorite characters at least, but won't bother with my approximately 70-90 other alts since I perceive there to be a number of hurdles to a reboot/resurrection of CoH after sunset--but I'd feel foolish if such a reboot did occur and I hadn't backed up anything.)
Apologies in advance for this longwinded post. Hoping others have even more constructive things to say, as well as correcting anything I may have written here in error. :-)
Best Wishes, Regards, and Hopes for City of Heroes and our Community,
John
P.S. I share your sense of loss, and losing what we've all invested time (years), creativity and some money into hurts. I truly don't like this decision at all, nor have I strong hopes of another MMORPG engaging and entertaining me the way CoH has--my best hopes along those lines are when Melissa "War Witch" Bianco, Matt "Positron" Miller, and the rest of the development team are out from under Non Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) or other contractual obligations and are free to work together to develop a MMO that surpasses even the one I love best, City of Heroes. -
Quote:rofl!!!!who would i sleep with?
Confession time:
While playing this game, i've paid millions for ghost widow's embrace... More than once.... And i did seek out the touch of lady grey frequently as well.
Sometimes i paid for both the same night.
However, i will not speak of how sister psyche's belt got into my supergroup base, only to say that it involved quite the investment of time. Still, i have heard others make a similar claim-- apparently she's got a habit of leaving souvenirs behind. This concerns me greatly, given her husband is a bit of a vengeful type. Thankfully, i've managed to avoid the sting of the manticore this far. -
I'm changing my mnd. After seeing Kallisti Wharf http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4HRaYQruSSw (courtesy of Leandro and Golden Girl on the Kallisti Wharf thread http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...kallisti+wharf ) as a Hapless Citizen I'd prefer to live there. It's beautiful throughout, varied and (at present) has a zero crime rate!
It also posits that I live into the future, into Issue 25.... -
Quote:While I agree with you 100% Techbot, I've yet to find it effective to tell any Grieving person to "lighten up!" even when perhaps what they most need and would benefit from would be to lighten up. Such is the nature of Grief, and I think we should each cut each other as much slack and understanding as possible as we go thru this. That said, apologies for being preachy.Uh, yeah, because this is really 'tainting the memory' and is so much worse than, oh, about 80% of what happens in real smegging life.
Christ. Get some perspective, will you? And not everyone here is being serious (I know I was seeing the funny side) But, please, carry on being a judgemental donkey, look at all the damns people are giving. -
I think this is a great idea! I fondly remember the city of Denver's gaming BenCons (benefit gaming conventions) where all profits (not revenue, gotta cover overhead) were donated to charities.
I'll see if I can get the numerous formerly active sgmates who've been inactive since the "Sunset" announcement of 8/31 behind this initiative. ((We used to have SG teamups and TFs daily, and I know they miss CoH.)) -
Quote:Glad you enjoyed it! The raid leader was likely HRO, i mean Hard Rock One though if memory serves (and at this hour it may not) it might well have been Warboss or Little Side Kick (LSK). I am usually on a blaster who has 1 or more Holds assisting the Green Mito Team (composed of controllers and dominators) defeat the green mitos. Naturally I agree with your opinion that Justice runs a sweet Hami Raid. (I think Victory does also tho I've rarely done Hami raids there. Madame Pistaccio (sp?) is often the raid leader on Vic.)I'm a seven year CoH veteran, but Monday night I completed my very first Hami Raid with my main, an Invul tank.
And boy, did I suck at it. All the mitos looked alike, I didn't know what was going on half on the time, and I definitely didn't pull my weight as a Hami tank.
But you know, it was really fun (in a 'God, I can't believe I did that' kind of way,) and very enlightening.
In particular, I'd like to thank the lead tank on the raid. (I forgot to write down his name, unfortunately, but I think there was only one Hami raid on Justice Monday night.) He/she was unfailingly polite and patient, and never once told me I was an idiot no matter how much as I felt like one.
So cheers, Justice, and thanks for giving me the opportunity to do something I've wanted to do for seven years.
But next time, maybe I'll try a scrapper.
LOL yes the Mitos do look similar tho the color coding is helpful but the heat of battle combined with sometimes framefreezing lag (at least on my PC) can make what seems like it should be easy far more challenging. That said, I often simply put my toon on Follow and target thru the Green Mito team leader. Never having played the role, I've no idea what the Aggro holding Tanker team does specifically but am guessing Targeting Thru isn't an option.
For what it's worth the Hamidon Raid on Justice runs (almost) every Monday and Wednesdays at 9 EST. Simply get to the Hive and say on Broadcast "LF Hami league" or add Justice United or Justice For All chat channels and ask if the Hami raid is on. Customarily we follow it with a Rikti Mothership Raid. All are welcome! -
If the question is where would my characters live, that answer would vary even more than if I'm answering for myself.
I like the music as one enters Faultline from Skyway South or Pocket D the best though the music around Blyde Square is a close second. I also really like the mall and buildings around where Mirror Spirit stands.
Cimerora apart from all the traitors/Romulus' troops is also really pretty and appealing, if rustic. At least I could go fishing there and go to the store without getting mugged. I bet the surfboarding there would be awesome! Hang ten!
Redside, St. Martial's without question, especially if I could afford luxury suites in the Golden Giza!
Yeah, Manticore's mansion is likewise gorgeous. Always hoped we could get some of those room details for our sg bases.
Given the prevalence of crime, I'd likely prefer to live in one of the SGbases rather than live in Paragon City proper and would visit the Midnighter Club often, provided I got to the point where I was no longer misusing the subjunctive case when speaking Latin.
Imperial City would also make a good home. It's way pretty with a fab night sky and has far less crime. Studio 55 is there and from which I can get to Pocket D. I'd probably think Emperor Cole was our personal savior, drink Enriche lattes and wonder why the Resistance even existed. So as a Hapless Citizen, I'd settle in Imperial City. -
Quote:Well, I can't argue against what you are saying. For truly great AE's such as "Talos Vice", we ran that as a small team when my friend who was leading said, "This is too funny! We have to run this again with each of you holding the 'star' to see how funny and well done this is."AE was great for the soloist, 2 boxer, or PLer crowd. FOr those who wanted to do a legitimate team and get into the missions it was nearly impossible to understand what was going on, except for the mission leader. I think it was implemented poorly for legitimate teams and non leading team mates to even know what the missions objectives were. I suppose if the team used a teamspeak it could be pulled off. If the leader would read the dialog to you. I mean, sure, non leading teammates would get the bullet points (click 3 glowies, killed named boss and lackeys, etc) but the story, MAN, the story was what this was supposed to be about, and only the leader gets the window to pop up? C'mon!
Additionally, Largo, while I feel your criticism is fair, it also applies to regular, non-AE content. I used to feel some frustration at players who seemed only to want to click thru quickly, even the battles and get to the reward. Among a different set of players, it was common for the lead to say "Reading" if the text was long and we none of us hurried while the text was read and any important info relayed. Ditto for all of the signature story arcs, if one of us hadn't played it yet, he or she was the defacto leader so as to get ALL of the story. (Just sayin' how some of us handled this.) -
Quote:Exactly, New Dawn, I (and many others) have close to 100 alts across the many servers (admittedly some have been long neglected but I only deleted a few since I'd hoped in time to eventually get around to each of them.)Other games you might create only anything between 1-22 characters and get bored. This game is different, you can do over 80 really, level in different ways and it gets good updates.
I'd imagine alot of players were looking at this old game as something they could come back to.
And yes, so many of my friends with 7-8 years playing 1. took breaks from CoH (either to try other MMORPGs for a whle or simply got RL busy) but 2. always came back to CoH and counted on it as something they could always return to, usually with renewed enthusiasm. -
Heh! Liked what you said entirely! I'm a bit younger (since i was a child during the Cuban Missile Crisis) but as an old RPgamer (2nd printing original D&D, etc) I also have done various silly things, such as emoting to NPCs. I never did the See Miss Liberty For Every Training as you did, but can see how doing that was special for that character.
Yeah, I know, doing something like that would make no sense and seem entirely silly to a number of MMO-gamers, including some longtime vet CoH sgmates-friends, who were more into the teamups and play than roleplaying. I get a chuckle everytime I remember a friend (also a middle aged RPgamer) telling the NPC whom we were to rescue and lead out in local chat in-character, "Come with us if you want to live!" Needless to say, the NPC followed him (and would have even if he hadn't done that, but the RP truly enhanced my experience that mission.)
P.S. I've forgotten the mission(s)/arc(s) where Miss Liberty IS an NPC ally, where one does see her in action. (Surely my imagination is not just conjuring that up!) I think it's the one where one goes to rescue/find Statesman, possibly in Praetoria. -
My bad! You posted this to Freedom. If I dont already have a redside toon there, I'll make one and hope to be SK'ed while in Grandville.
-
Hi Jamie, I'd be happy to talk with you in or out of game. The suggestion to contact TonyV over on Titan Network forums (as well as seeing what's there along with what's on these forums) is a good one.
Off hand, I don't recall the name of the thread(s) here for various CoH memories and what City of Heroes has meant to people in this community, but families, kids, parents, grandparents played CoH together. Others have written how playing CoH got them thru some difficult personal times. The "final reveal" thread has people talking about who they are and what they do (usually professionally) out-of-game.
To put this succinctly and this is purely my opinion, the City of Heroes community has been in a state of shock and grief since the announcement to "sunset" CoH by its publisher NCSoft. The shock is because there was no indication anything was amiss or that the game was anywhere near to closing. (Issue 24 in Beta and close to final release, new powersets and other items on the Paragon market advertised less than 10 days prior to the sunset notice, etc.) Grief of course due to the hours of time (read: years), creativity and money players put into this game and the forging of friendships and tightknit communities formed in our Super Groups.
To my layman's eyes (I'm not an MSW or psychologist) just about every player I've talked to in-game or seen here on the forums is exhibiting signs of Bereavement and Grieving truly analogous to losing a beloved family pet or even friend. The first couple of days people logged in as always but no one felt like doing missions (i.e. playing) much, instead we commiserated with one another on chat channels. Tears have been shed with many of the longest participants (middle aged gamers) finding themselves unable to even log in due to the unexpected pain at losing this beloved pastime. See also the Player Rally, where characters are still holding an /em (emote) holdtorch CandleLight Vigil on the steps of City Hall, Atlas Park, Instance 33 (as well as on other servers btw.)
While Virtue is a good/great server to start your interviews, many are still active especially evenings and weekends including Justice, Victory, Protector, and probably others. (My info is limited to the servers I'm active on or have chat channels to.)
Thanks for writing about this. I hope your article gets prominently published. Many if not most of us were truly astonished to discover not only that the prospect of losing CoH hurt, but the extent to which losing "just a game" could hurt. Which goes to show, the experience of playing CoH went far beyond simply playing a game.
Best wishes to you in this endeavor. -
Quote:LOL, Cyber!! I still think it's ironic that the publisher NCSoft is the great AV to end all AVs. I still get a kick and a laugh from this icon Captain-Electic uses in his signature line on these forums. Filched and copied without permission:I think the proper way to end CoH would have been revealing that NCSoft is a Nemesis owned entity and we've been funding our own demise all along and according to their Master Plot.
-
Quote:To me the only "high note" in this is that I feel the Paragon Studios development team was at its creative peak. Each issue I played, from 15-23, the game just kept getting better! (Totally IMO) Oh! I suppose another "high note" might be the way the CoH Community rallied both to help each other with our collective grief and to try various means of Saving CoH (still ongoing.)That's exactly how I've been saying NC Soft should have shut the game down. I'm absolutely certain that playerbase wouldn't have been anywhere near as angry (and the Save COH movement wouldn't have gained the traction they did) if NC Soft had shut the game down more graudally.
Instead, we get the corporate-speak that firing all the devs without warning and leaving I24 (possibly the most hugely-anticipated update of the entire game's history, with features players have been begging for for years finally put into the game) hanging in limbo is somehow "going out on a high note".
Best Wishes to you all and Thank You to everyone who contributed to this thread. -
Quote:Sorry to single out King, but it would be really nice since we all care passionately about CoH to read forums without all these personal attacks. Please let's stay on topic--and when we disagree, can we not compound the negative feelings (anger, sorrow, grief) over NCSoft's decision with negative and incendiary remarks? You are a garbage person. You have presented yourself as the lowest kind of trash. You have nothing of value to offer anyone on either these forums or in your day to day life. No one wants you. No one cares if you live or die. Please go away and die quietly somewhere else, where we won't have to listen to it either.
BTW, Flea, nice seeing you on the forums. I hope to see you on Justice United channel sometime on or before Nov.30th.
