Gah! I loved that show and loved Vic and while I understand why it ended the way it did, I really wanted to see Vic come out on top.

    Tango and Cash.

When they do the manly high five hand clasp thing...that's how every movie should end.

As much as I hated the Stars Wars prequels, if at the end of Revenge of the Sith, the Emperor and Vadar kinda glared at each other but then broke into grins and high fived like that, the movie would have been awesome.
  4. It's cool that the original cast will be returning but...and I rarely ever say this sort of thing at this stage of a film's develpment, but I'm really thinking this is going to be a bad idea. Ramis and Ackroyd haven't been funny in...well, pretty much since the last Ghostbusters. And Bill Murray...I think he only agreed even to appear as a ghost because they threw enough money at him. He's proven that he'll do anything if enough money's involved (ahem, Garfield) and I'd just as soon he not do it if he's gonna half *** it.

I would love to be pleasantly surprised, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Perhaps Dick's objection to becoming Batman was because it was someone else's plan for him, not on his own terms. Perhaps his objection has been subconsciously because he knew himself becoming Batman would mean Bruce is gone, and he knows he'd be unable to live up to the legacy of the man he admires most.

But with Bruce "dead", and Tim not old enough, Jean Paul dead at present I believe? (and proven not a good choice anyway), Jason crazy murdering people, Dick had to step into the role, whether he wanted it or not. Because he believed there had to be a Batman. And after being forced to grow into the role, is it so inconceivable that what he wants has changed? That he -does- want to be Batman, after all? Many are the times life surprises people with activities, ideas, and roles that they learn to accept and even cherish, despite initially rejecting.

That is how I would write it if I were the one doing the comic, at least. Dick has been fighting what part of him knew was destiny, fighting to keep Bruce, the one true Batman, around, but now that he's come to terms with it, he's not going to give it up.
But, but, but! That would mean that something would change! Those characters are supposed to be exactly the same as they were when I was a kid forever and ever!

While Preacher is my favorite comic of all time, the book is ten years old now. I don't see any flaws in it personally, but even if you do, don't you think it's possible that he's had time to hone his skills as a writer over the past decade?

Ennis? Really? Dude has such a mad-on -against- superheroes. Ennis strikes me as Millar's brother with an even blacker sense of humor. And as far as I can tell, The Crossed is the torture porn of comics.
Ennis absolutely hates superheroes. I wasn't aware that comics could only be good if they had superheroes in them. Ennis is the best writer alive as far as I'm concerned. I don't know of anyone else out there right now that can write something as hilarious as The Boys and then turn around and put out something as beautiful and heartbreaking as Dear Billy. And if you thought the point of Crossed was the gore, then you missed the point completely.

I can understand that what you've seen of his work doesn't appeal to you so you've not actually read any of it, as evidenced by the statement "As far as I can tell." He's not Geoff Johns, he's not going to write superhero stories where Captain Perfect Teeth always triumphs over the forces of Bad Guy Mcnasty. If you want to read nothing but superhero stories for ever and ever, then no, don't pick up his work. However, if you like just plain good writing--and yes, alot of it is quite dark, then check him out.
  8. I believe that the arc will be called "Batman Inc." and will actually feature many Batmen all over the world.

    I'm pretty jazzed about it.

He broke so many conventions it was not funny, and he served not the country's best interest, but quite often his own vengeance. It would explain the weapons sized for his hands though.

As sad as I am to say this, right now, I just don't want to read any comic. Quesada has killed Marvel for me, and DC has been dead for a long time due to the Crisis on Infinite Earths. I am now wishing Marvel would do the same thing. Anyhow, the mystery has been solved.

    I am bored again.

There are plenty of great comics coming out these days that aren't published by Marvel or DC. Pretty much anything by Garth Ennis or Robert Kirkman for instance. Mark Waid's doing some excellent stuff right now as well.

    Katana or DB/DA?

Oh, and just an edit on that last post: I just realized that I guess you wouldn't be able to take Physical Perfection and Shadow Meld...so...well, anyway, hopefully my build will give you some ideas. Hopefully not bad ones, heh.
  11. JeNeSaisQuoi

    Katana or DB/DA?

/Dark is going to be an Endurance consuming beast. Not to say that it's unmanagable, but yeah, /Dark is notoriously Endurance heavy. I actually have a level 50 Dual Blades/Dark and a level 45 (still working on it) Katana/Dark.

The Dual Blades/Dark was murder to level but that's partially due to my inexperience with the sets. After some Respecs she turned out to be alot of fun to play and pretty dangerous. She's been unable to solo any AVs however due to her Defenses not being high enough and the inability to recover Endurance fast enough. However, I didn't exactly build her for that, so I'm sure it can be done, particularly now that we have access to Shadow Meld. Well, you do anyway. I don't have Going Rogue yet.

My Katana/Dark is equally fun to play and I think she'll be able to solo the weaker AVs at least once I finish her build. She's going to easily have the +Recovery locked down and once I get Going Rogue I suppose I can take Shadow Meld and make her Defenses even higher.

Personally, of the two, I'd go with Katana/Dark. They're both equally fun in the end and the animations for Dual Blades are awesome, but Katana has tricks up it's sleeve that are easier to make use of and the road to 50 is so much easier.

I'll post my build for her and you can see what I did to get the amount of Recovery that she has which is something I put a great deal of importance on. Basically, just take out Manuveurs and stick Shadow Meld in there and you'd have a pretty insane build.

Oh, and also, I wouldn't worry about getting too much Melee Defense for a Katana/Dark. Around 25% would be alright as Divine Avalanche will double stack fairly easily. That'll free up your sets for other things.

  12. It seems to me that I heard somewhere that some people had successfully completed an All Scrapper Statesman Task Force...

Anyone out there ever tried it?

Seems like it would be fairly easy until you hit the last mission and ran into Ghost Widow. And having been on a STF team with six Scrappers before, she wasn't even much of a problem.

My main concern is tanking Recluse long enough to take the towers down. What would be the best Scrapper to accomplish this? How many of what types of Inspirations would they need to succeed? And can Inspirations be stored in e-mail now so that the Scrapper could grab more if they ran out of the ones in thier tray?

I've been thinking about trying this for quite a while now and once my level 45 Katana/Dark hits 50 I think I'm going to put it together on the Guardian Server.

Thanks for any tips, advice, etc.
  13. Well, Titanic made more money than Raiders of the Lost Arc so I guess Titanic is the better film.

Personally, I didn't think so, but I guess I'm wrong. Titanic made more money, so it doesn't matter what I think: It is a better movie.

I mean, it made more money! So it has to be better!

I saw both the same day (Friday) and Scott Pilgrim was by far better than The Expendables. It wasn't even a contest. The Expenables was exactly what I knew it would be: Completely stupid, mindless action. It did not disapoint in that regard. And I did enjoy it. Because I do enjoy utterly retarded pointless action films. However, I doubt I'll ever watch it again.

Scott Pilgrim on the other hand was funnier, better written, more stylish, and I actually preferred the action scenes in Scott Pilgrim to the ones in The Expendables as Scott Pilgrim's action scenes were original, hilarious, and pretty intense at times. Scott Pilgrim was over all a better shot, written and performed film than The Expendables. I'll buy Scott Pilgrim when it comes out and probably go see it again in theatres. The Expendables? There's a good chance I'll never watch it again. Why? Because it's every 80's action film ever made and I've already seen that a thousand times.

Don't get me wrong: I liked The Expendables. It was absolutely horrible and I knew it would be going in. And expecting it to be a complete piece of **** film with a lot of senseless violence, I enjoyed it. That's what it was: A God awful piece of **** fun movie. It was good because it was so bad. If you want to watch a fun, bad action film utterly devoid of originality, then The Expendables is your movie.

Scott Pilgrim on the other hand, was you know, ACTUALLY GOOD.

Maybe a bit in bad taste saying this in the Expendables thread, but having seen both Scott Pilgrim and The Expendables I would highly reccomend Scott Pilgrim over The Expendables if you could only choose one. Or if you're seeing both, see The Expendables first. I watched Scott Pilgrim right before seeing The Expendables and I couldn't enjoy the Expendables quite as much because Scott Pilgrim was so ridiculously good.

The two movies have nothing in common but after Scott Pilgrim raised my entertainment bar so high, the Expendables was a bit disapointing. So yeah, see The Expendables first if you're going to see both and maybe you'll enjoy it more before Scott Pilgrim raises the entertainment bar too high. The Expendables is fine for what it is, and it's exactly what you think it is and that's wonderful if you just want to turn your brain off and watch a film you've essentially already seen a hundred times but if you'd like to see something great and you can only see one, see Scott Pilgrim.

Again, not saying The Expendables was bad, it just wasn't amazing either.

Got back a bit ago. Thinking over it now... I liked it, but it certainly had its flaws. The books were better, and Wright has Michael Comeau say as much during one of the final scenes (when Pilgrim returns after using his extra life).

The film was slight disappointment compared to the books because a) it didn't capture the heart of the books (but did have a heart of its own) and b) much of the story was cut to make room for the fighting. While the fights are and were always going to be the best part of the film, they started to happen more and more quickly with little story in between. By the end, I can imagine people unfamiliar with the book were wondering why Ramona and Scott are together; they never seemed to really share anything in common or had any happiness between them. In the books, you get a sense of their chemistry and love. In the movie? Not so much.

Also, I think Wright's adaptation was a little too faithful. Some of the winding dialogue that worked in the book fell flat in the movie because the scenes ran a little long.

Again, I loved the movie. So much so that I may go see it again before the weekend is out (possibly by myself - The wife wasn't a fan). But it wasn't without some flaws.

I'd even go to say that I fear an audience who isn't familiar with the book just would not have many reasons to like the movie's plot at all. The style of the movie, yes, but the plot and dialogue, perhaps not.

Also... A mediocre turnout at our 6:30 showing. 25% full theater at best. Big bummer.
You know, I loved the film but wasn't all that crazy about the books. Well, book really, as I've only read the first one. I'm not saying it wasn't good, but it didn't catch my interest enough that I've made a point to buy the other books over some other books I'd like to read. When I have more money to spend or if a friend lends them to me, I'll finish the series off.

Oddly enough, I enjoyed the movie more partially because of Michael Cera. It's good to see him not just utterly being George Michael for a change.
  17. I saw it this morning and it was the bee's knees. I knew Edgar Wright wouldn't let me down and boy, he did not. I actually kind of loathe Michael Cera outside of Arrested Development and yet he was surprisingly likable in the film.

Good stuff, hilarious from start to finish.
  18. Wow, okay, thanks. My build is going to be somewhat different from that due to money constraints but that gives me alot of ideas. Thanks for the help!
  19. Okay, couple more questions:

1.) How good is the stacking in Divine Avalanche? Just curious as I'm wondering how much Melee Defense to plan for.

2.) How much Recharge do I want to plan for (in general) if I'm looking to be able to solo AVs with this toon? I usually focus on Recharge pretty heavily, but is it a high priority for Katana?

3.) Is there room in the build for The Lotus Drops? Because I really enjoy having the AoE Damage.

4.) I can't fathom how you get the Soft Cap for all the positions for this build but I'm assuming it can and has been done? And how badly would I have to gimp the other aspects of the build to do it? And would it be worth it?

Okay, I think that's it. For now.

    Thanks!

    2) Very helpful. Stick it in Gambler's Cut and nothing else. In the attack chain, you're using it every other attack, so it'll give you a whole lot of chances to fire and make a noticeable difference in damage output.

    3) While leveling, Oppressive Gloom was better for me because of the endurance issue. However, in an end game build a Katana/Dark can have so much damage mitigation that Oppressive Gloom does more damage to you than it prevents. At that point, it's Cloak of Fear or nothing in my opinion. You just need to be able to manage the endurance. I use and like Cloak of Fear.
I've been goofing around in Mids and so far, while everything else looks really good, I'm still concerned about Endurance Usage/Recovery, particularly concerning long AV fights. Any pointers on how to make that managable?
  21. Hi! And thanks in advance for the help!

I've got a Dual Blades/Dark Armor Scrapper that I really enjoy playing and now I'm looking to start a Katana/Dark Armor. I'd like to build the toon on my own mostly, but I wouldn't mind some helpful hints:

1.) What's a good attack chain for Katana? Preferably something that would work well for soloing AVs but would be decent for team play as well.

2.) Exactly how helpful is the Achille's Heel Proc when soloing AVs and what attack should I stick it in?

3.) On my DB/Dark I run Cloak of Fear because A.) It looks cool, B. ) I find the mitagation decent, C.) I *really* like the -Acc Debuff, and D.) It seems to me to fit into the theme of the powerset more so that Oppresive Gloom. However, I'm considering taking Oppresive Gloom for my Katana Dark for A.) Variety, B.) To save on endurance. How has everyone's experience been with these two powers? I won't have room for both and I'd turn either of them off in an AV fight, but which do you all prefer for teaming purposes?

There may be some more questions later, but that's it for now. Thanks again!
  22. Very nice! Thanks for all the replies everyone! I'm actually so jazzed about this now that I'm probably going to put my Claws/Regen on hiatus and get started on my MA/FA now. I'm not sure why, but if I can't come up with a name for the toon I really like, it'll get deleted in short order, so once I come up with something I'll like for at least 50 levels, I'm gonna get started.

    Again, thanks for the help!
  23. Hello all!
I'm currently leveling a Claws/Regeneration Scrapper and I have to say, I'm not really feeling it. For several reasons.

1.) I'm not knocking Regeneration, but I'm just not good at it. I've got this Scrapper to level 36 and she's dying quite a bit and has a hard time running +1 x3 missions. All six of my other Scrappers by that same level were running those same types of missions easily and rarely, if ever, dying. Now, I blame myself and not the Regeneration set as I've heard about the sort of things people can pull off with Regens.

2.) This one may be my imagination but it seems that (possibly due to the coming nerf to Shields, or because people have gotten tired of it?) /Regen has become the flavor of the week again. The last two times I've run the All Scrapper Hess TF, something like five or six out of eight of the Scrappers have been /Regen. This of course might just be coincidence. And it really doesn't matter, but as a personal thing, I like my Scrappers to stand out. (My favorite is my Dual Blades/Dark Armor. Not unheard of, but not exactly popular either.)

So, while I'm trying to give /Regen more of a chance and see how it is with more slots and sets, I'm already thinking of rolling a new Scrapper. And I thought to myself, "What's a Scrapper combination that I have never seen?"

    Martial Arts/Fiery Aura.

I'm sure they are out there, somewhere. However, I cannot recall having ever seen one. And I know that the two are supposed to be the most sub-par sets available to Scrappers. However, I've always liked the Martial Arts animations and I like a good challenge.

So, I got into Mids and I built one. And it looks good. It actually looks pretty darn good. Expensive, but good. (I'd post the build but I'm not terribly savvy with Mids and am not sure how to do it. That, and it refuses to update for me, so I can't post the true build I have in mind, with Physical Perfection included.)

I'm really loving Claws though, so I might change it to a Claws/FA but I'm leaning towards Martial Arts because it's the only primary for Scrappers that I haven't leveled to 50, other than Electric Melee or Spines (which I've never played because I detest the way it looks).

So, if any of you were going to build a Martial Arts/Fiery Aura Scrapper, how would you do it? Any advice or posted Mids builds would be great.

Just something to do if any of you are super bored. I probably won't actually be rolling this toon up any time soon because I'm still trying to make Regen work for me and I'd need some time to build up the Influence it will require, but this is almost certainly my next Scrapper.

Thanks in advance, and I hope I was descriptive enough. (Or not overly descriptive!)

Oh, and I almost forgot a question: Does Fiery Embrace enhance the damage of Blazing Aura? Thanks!
  24. This is slightly off topic, but I'm curious as to which of the actors/actresses will be able to move past the characters they played on Lost and go on to be successful elsewhere. Particularly, if any of the stars of the show will be a break out success in films, who all do you think it would be?

Now, obviously, Michael Emerson and Terry O' Quinn are the two most talented actors but that won't necessarily translate to major big screen success.

If I had to put my money on just one of them, it'd be Josh Holloway.
  25. Since everyone else has already posted various builds and such I'll just say this:

I have one and she's my favorite Scrapper currently coming in ahead of my Dark/Willpower and Fire/Shield. My first build was all wrong and was unmanagable endurance-wise but after a Respec, she's awesome. I will say that unlike my Dark/Willpower the road to 50 was not always an easy one but it's been well worth it.

Ran her tonight on an all Scrapper Hess run (+2 difficulty) and she outperformed or at least matched every Scrapper on the team. In other words, it's a very solid combination. And a ton of fun.
