DB/DA - Never seen, gotta try it
The end drain is a bith high when running Maneuvers+Tactics and CoDarkness.
I'd take Death Shroud, I'd never skip it (or any damage aura, except maybe on a blaster but I don't play them). Minimum slotting for me is 2 acc/dam/end and 2 dam/end - you have blinding feint and tactics to help with the acc.
Nice melee def, the others will be nerfed by the BoTZ nerf tho.
I'd take O. Gloom at 35, push Maneuvers to 38 and move Soul Transfer to 49. O. Gloom is too good to get at 49.
You can use B Feint before dark regen... but I'd try to slot some acc in DR at least. It's not like your AoE defense will be anything special with the BoTZ nerf so I'd move the third slots in CJ and SJ for acc/rech/end or something in DR and another to help the end reduction in Maneuvers.
I like your slotting and picks on the DB powers since you're going primarily for melee def. But you're over the cap on two 3.75% melee def bonuses so I'd 5-slot crushing impacts + 1 achiless - res proc in Ablating Strike and 6-slot makos on another (ranged def, since now your is low considering the incoming BoTZ thing I mentioned).
Oh did I say NEVER skip a damage aura?
In case it hasn't been mentioned, NEVER skip your damage aura.
Hmmm, off hand, not too shabby. Your melee defense will be noticeable. Your ranged and AoE less so, but at least they're something.
I'd probably have gone for Tough and Weave over Maneuvers and Tactics, then picked up Focused Accuracy largely as a set mule for Gaussian's Synchronized Fire Control (for the defense).
You have some set bonuses over the maximum - too many +3.75% melee defense (ah, I see Kioshi mentioned it). You can see that on the "View Active Sets" button.
I wouldn't have taken so many attacks myself. I'd have gone for Blinding Feint -> Attack Vitals and called it good. But Desmodos would probably slap me for recommending skipping any of your deliciously-good attacks.
I'd go with Performance Shifters instead of Efficacy Adapters unless you're targeting a specific recharge and that's the only way. Performance Shifters will help your defense and your endurance recovery. Put a Performance Shifter proc in Physical Perfection instead of the endurance. I'd still be worried about endurance, particularly when you pick up your damage aura, but that should help a lot. Oh, pick up the endurance accolades. That'll help a lot too. Should be fine then, I'm guessing.
I'd probably use an Endoplasm instead of accuracy in Oppressive Gloom so that wanderers stay stunned for longer.

Here's a slightly modified version, but still can't figure out a great way to fit in the aura, maybe you guys can help me? I know I could do better things, but I don't have billions to throw around like some do, so trying to keep the budget low while still staying as effective as possible.

Do you have Ninja Run? NR+Hurdle+Sprint is so good, I found myself using it more than super jump on a Defender I played yesterday who had not logged for like 400 days. If you have NR I can try to fit in D. Shroud in the build. Also are you aware of the Blessing of the Zephyr Nerf in i17? You'll lose enough AoE defense so that it becomes kinda insignificant.
Why does Maneuvers have a rech IO in the last build? Ideally you'd slot for def and end, especially on such a tight build. And you can use gaussians (6-slots) in tactics instead of Adj Targetting for 2.5% extra def overall, more recovery, HP.
Or just skip tactics and get foc. accuracy doing the same thing with gaussians, this way you can free up a power (I'd get rid of soul transfer anyway, but you could leave conserve power off by picking foc acc).
Well modified just a bit - I'm insomniac so not thinking really well right now to plan the best build I can (still suffering to make my DM/DA end manageable because I want cloak of fear).
Aoe def is garbage in this build now, but better recovery, Death Shroud... Still end heavy especially if you run Tactics (you have +tohit in BF and +perception in CoDarkness anyway). With all these attacks (which I like, my Db/Elec took the same attacks) and considering Dark Regen recharges in 14.5 secs in the build, I'd consider getting rid of Hasten.

Gah, this was my take on the original. It's a bit outdated now, but I found a way to fit slots into CoD to get the most defense out of it you can. The BotZ wont' be providing as much as you think, so I got rid of one set and replaced it with Karma KB protect.

Well modified just a bit - I'm insomniac so not thinking really well right now to plan the best build I can (still suffering to make my DM/DA end manageable because I want cloak of fear). Aoe def is garbage in this build now, but better recovery, Death Shroud... Still end heavy especially if you run Tactics (you have +tohit in BF and +perception in CoDarkness anyway). With all these attacks (which I like, my Db/Elec took the same attacks) and considering Dark Regen recharges in 14.5 secs in the build, I'd consider getting rid of Hasten. |
DB/DA is an awesome combo. Why, you guessed it, personally I love the perma Blinding Feint + damage aura combo. Its really nice.
If I didn't already have a 39ish claws/da when it came out I would have totally ran a DB/DA instead. It still has the good knockdowns, only its more melee oriented so you're not knocking them out of your aura's/heals like you do with shockwave.
You can definitely do without hasten in this build. Even my Stone/DB doesn't have many problems even with the 65% recharge debuff from Granite Armor.
Personally I like having all the powers to play with the combo's. But Nimble slice is still good for aoe for the sweep combo. The sweep combo gives an extra 50% of ENHANCED value for it. Plus the knockdown is good mitigation. For aoe killing I usually do the empower combo then the sweep combo and alternate for good damage. Otherwise You'd be doing empower then empower, with typhoon's edge after.
So while close due to firing off Typhoons edge faster with double empower, using the sweep combo is still nice for the aoe knockdown. Plus it gives another attack to slot for bonuses which is nice as well.
I'm at work and can show you the build I'd use when I get home. Agreed on the suggestion of dropping Tactics to go with FA. I'd pick up tough/weave instead.
Also on to PP, I don't understand why people freak out about the p-shifter proc, in such a situation as kioshi used. On average it grants .1 end/sec. Using at common 50 IO in that spot in PP instead enhances it by .42%, ending in a result of a 5.25% recovery boost.
With 110 max end with accolades, with the base end being 1.67/sec, that means that its giving a guaranteed and constant .09644 end/sec boost. So for a mere 300-600k, you are doing what on average the proc does for 30+ mil. In stamina only after the 3 enhancements and PP after 2 is it worth placing the P-shifter proc.
Also, it gets down to mechanics, but the "average" .1 end/sec of the P-shifter proc is actually slightly less due to the fact of it firing off at times like when you're not below 10 endurance from max, and it firing off at off times like the second a battle ends. Since we're going by averages its not a huge amount of difference, but it impacts it pretty close to that first/second 50 common end mod in PP.

The only thing, like I said I like having nimble slice there too, but if you are liable to take it out you can swap the set in blinding feint for gaussians, would lower melee/ranged to about 26.5% and raise aoe a tad. Still decent, then use the slots for another slot in cloak of darkness, 4th slot in dark embrace and murky cloud, actually getting back the defense lost in melee/ranged almost exactly, perhaps another slot on conserve power and then pick up soul transfer. I'll show in a sec but first:

But the PP proc isn't a prority for me in PP. I always try to put it in Stamina when 4-slotted, and if I have the money I'll use another in PP.

Since everyone else has already posted various builds and such I'll just say this:
I have one and she's my favorite Scrapper currently coming in ahead of my Dark/Willpower and Fire/Shield. My first build was all wrong and was unmanagable endurance-wise but after a Respec, she's awesome. I will say that unlike my Dark/Willpower the road to 50 was not always an easy one but it's been well worth it.
Ran her tonight on an all Scrapper Hess run (+2 difficulty) and she outperformed or at least matched every Scrapper on the team. In other words, it's a very solid combination. And a ton of fun.

Well, I've always wanted to play a Dark Armor, and after much cajoling not to, I've decided I will anyways. Never played a DB scrapper, so figured I'd pair it with DA, to have some knockdowns for some mitigation, and it just looks like it'll be fun.
